In my research for this show I came across a group called stophavingkids.org. Their website is well made and gross. It is a very cleverly veiled satanic lie that children will suffer for simply existing. One of their slogans is “The best way to avoid Hell is to never be born”. That's also the best way to avoid heaven. In an article for the political, a dangerous event, apparently tied to white supremacy was reported on. The event in question is called NatoCon, an event to encourage individuals to have children. Apparently having kids is a far right idea. And, I dive into what Google thinks the agenda of the Right and the Left are. You might be surprised at what that Google search revealed, but probably not. What does God's Word say? Ephesians 2:10 ESV For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.Psalm 139:13-14 ESV For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.Ephesians 4:24 ESV And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.Episode 1,576 Links:StopHavingKids.orgThe Far Right's Campaign to Explode the Population; Behind the scenes at the first Natal Conference, where a motley alliance is throwing out the idea of winning converts to their cause and trying to make their own insteadJoe Biden: an unrelenting stream of immigrants"Crisis" At The Border ft. Is “fandom” one of the drives behind our dysfunctional politics? That's the thesis of Dr Phoenix Andrews new book I Heart Politics – who writes about how people power is behind a series of quake moments in recent political history. He joins Andrew Harrison to discuss whether the phenomenon and power of fandom is overlooked in contemporary politics, and how the fandoms of politicians like Trump, Farage and Thatcher affect the cultural zeitgeist. • “The world feels mad, but finding people with a common passion is uplifting.” – Dr Phoenix Andrews • “Political fandom is basically Eurovision with consequences.” – Dr Phoenix Andrews We are sponsored by Indeed. Part 1 of 2 Jess and Teen talk about the difference in life approach between those of us who seek achievement within an organization or otherwise within the confines of a competition, versus those of us who seek achievement entirely as self-satisfaction. Are these really two separate groups of people, or archetypes that both exist within each of us? And how does this relate to archetypes of Asian American people? i’m in a moment. or in between two moments. which i guess would be its own moment? or non-moment? anti-moment? it’s that exact moment where, like when you throw a ball up in the air, or you roll a ball up a hill or like endless ball examples, that moment before you come back down. you’re not coming from anywhere or going anywhere else, realy. you’re just chillin in that spot for a split second. weightless, motionless, momentumless moment. in my case that moment will last the next few days - which is like a split second in a lifetime. but also, this moment is not quite so dramatic ha. i’ll see you in a few days :)DOWNLOAD/STREAM RECORDING00:00 (intro by omar)00:20 DYED “Pigs” DYED EP02:43 Healing Gems “The Curse (Baby Blue)” Jungle Flower06:07 The Obsessives “He Is Wise” The Obsessives Deluxe09:16 Current Affairs “Buckle Up” Buckle Up / Worlds In Crisis12:24 Winter “Borboletas” Infinite Summer EP15:29 Static rats “ultraviolet” STATIC RATS17:09 LUNCH “Forget Everything” Forget Everything / Before It Was Over20:58 Cave Girl “1 2 3” Who’s Tired?25:31 ok vancouver ok “Go Ahead (I’m Late)” OUTSIDE COMPUTER29:56 Cave Cricket “Cried On My Bike” The World32:12 Kissing party “Jesse” Mom & Dad34:28 Fell Runner “Don’t Go Anywhere” Talking37:31 Post Pink “Moon” No Problem, Probably39:35 Toby Goodshank “Track 2” untitled (10th Anniversary Remaster)42:44 Sad Photography “Baby” DEMOS (2014 - 2017)44:12 Neo Neos “It’s Just That Easy” Kill Someone You Hate45:38 Shelf Life “Flyer” FEARLESS47:35 Borey Shin “dreamboat” Rotunda49:04 Adult Mom “Paws” Sometimes Bad Happens50:11 Dots “Throwing Pennies” Dots52:30 Swampwalk “Tantrum” Kids Like Me

It's raining in the Gold Coast but disappointingly Andrew's lift is still working .It's also the start of AFL season & the rules swing wildly this time of year . Andrew is bang up for it.He gently asks Richard just how into AFL he is . " A bit" Richard replies but then explains in more detail. The revelations will both shock and terrify you.A discussion of spiders leads to wasps leads to bees. We learn some good advice when dealing with bees. We also learn how to pick up spiders safely. Honestly, that's more learning than the previous episodes combined.Andrew feels his age & experience is winning out a Uni as he ferments revolution. He then goes on to explain a number of issues Richard is having due to age, Richards counter argument would've been stronger had he not lost track of what he was saying .

March 2020. Supermarket shelves were bare, restaurants and takeaways were closed, schools and workplaces closed. Perhaps it's no surprise then that all around the world, people started getting creative in the kitchen. But as Leyla Kazim finds in this programme, some cooks took lockdown cooking to a whole new level. Warwickshire cook Dan Fell made headlines for sharing his 'perfect' fried chicken recipe after spending 18 months testing it. In New York, journalist and chef Bill Buford became obsessed with cooking the perfect roast chicken. And journalist Kate Ng spent her days emulating the perfect crimps on her Grandmother's curry puffs. It seemed we'd become culinary perfectionists in our own kitchens. For Leyla Kazim, lockdown was all about baking the perfect sourdough loaf. In this programme she wants asks why so many of us became obsessed with creating the perfect meal, and what the quest for perfecting a dish says about us. She speaks to long standing recipe obsessives food writer Felicity Cloake and 'obsessional' Youtube cook Alex. Presented by Leyla Kazim. Produced by Clare Salisbury for BBC Audio in Bristol.

A funny thing happened in the six years since Samsung first announced its line of Galaxy Note smartphones. A few things happened, more accurately. In an effort to compete with the Note, other phone makers started making large-screened phones, and later, edge-to-edge displays. Big phones got better-looking, in general. Many were imbued with powerful graphics processing. And eventually, the software on other phones began to support features like split-screen multitasking.

For the past 19 years, David Remnick has been the editor of the New Yorker, perhaps the greatest magazine in the English language. Under his leadership, the New Yorker has received 149 nominations for National Magazine Awards and won 37. It’s also, perhaps more impressively, been consistently profitable in an era where many august journalism organizations have seen their business models collapse. And Remnick keeps writing. He’s the author of six books, including Lenin’s Tomb, which won a Pulitzer Prize, and The Bridge, a fascinating biography of Barack Obama, and he churns out a steady stream of deeply reported profiles of musicians, athletes, and politicians. Oh, and he hosts the New Yorker Radio Hour. He’s a busy guy. Remnick started his career as a beat reporter at the Washington Post. In 1988, the Post sent him to Moscow, an auspicious time for a young reporter to land in what was then the Soviet Union. There, he witnessed the fall of the USSR and the creation of modern Russia — a journalistic background that has become startlingly relevant in recent years. In this wide-ranging discussion, the New Yorker editor discusses Russia’s meddling in the US election, Russia’s transformation from communist rule to Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin, his magazine’s coverage of President Donald Trump, how he chooses his reporters and editors, and how to build a real business around great journalism. Whether you care about politics or journalism or just the role of truth in society today, there's a lot of wisdom here. Brin-Jonathan Butler (@brinicio on Twitter), a freelance writer and author, returns! “Obsession has always fascinated me, whether it's more a dance with your virtues or your demons,” Butler says. Hey, hey, it's The Creative Nonfiction Podcast, the show where I speak with the world's best artists—leaders in narrative journalism, essay, memoir, radio, and documentary film—and tease our their stories, tips, and tricks and how you can apply those tools to your own work. I'm your host @BrendanOMeara, Brendan O'Meara in real life. IMO, this show is at its best when you, the listener, get to hang out and feel like your listening to a couple of CNFers talk shop over coffee or beer or absinthe, though that could take a turn for the weird. That's what happens when you've got someone like Brin-Jonathan Butler back on the podcast. This is his third rodeo at CNF HQ. He sent me a DM on Twitter and said, “We should another show, no?” And I said, “Um…two words, hell yes!” And then he said, “Awesome.” So we got it done. Brin's got a new book coming out in a year titled “Heavy Lies the Crown” and it's about chess. We talk about how this book came to pass, how he went about navigating a world that was quite foreign to him, and hammering out a book from start to finish, oh, in about six months. For other insights into writing a book like your ass is on fire, go listen to episode 52 New York Times writer Joe Drape. Brin also talks about how he ensures high profile people have a good interview, the importance of moving around and taking walks, the mental ballet of conning yourself into finishing art. If you can, leave a nice review on iTunes. They help so much, and, simply put, they're validating and let me know that I should keep going with the show. Thanks!

July 11, 2013. In this examination of the arc of American history through the lens of compulsive behavior, Kendall shows how some of the nation's greatest achievements - from the Declaration of Independence to the invention of the iPhone - have roots in the disappointments and frustrations of early childhood. Starting with the obsessive natures of some of the Silicon Valley's titans, including Steve Jobs, Kendall moves on to profile seven iconic figures, such as founding father Thomas Jefferson, licentious librarian Melvil Dewey, condiment kingpin H.J. Heinz, slugger Ted Williams and cosmetics queen Estee Lauder, who was so obsessed with touching other women's faces that she transformed her compulsion into a multibillion-dollar corporation. Speaker Biography: Joshua Kendall did much of the research for his new book at the Library of Congress. He is the author of "The Man Who Made Lists," about the creation of Roget's Thesaurus, and "The Forgotten Founding Father," a biography of Noah Webster, the lexicographer responsible for Webster's Dictionary. He is also an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Financial Times, Psychology Today and BusinessWeek, among others publications. Jeremiah "Jere" Gettle is saving food from extinction. Hyperbole? Yes. But every time a rare heirloom vegetable cedes its patch of dirt to a generic variety, bred for efficiency rather than flavor, that piece of food becomes extinct. When Gettle was 17, he started Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds in his bedroom, which then became a successful store in his hometown in Missouri, and he has recently converted an old bank into a seed bank in Petaluma, California. In this video he defines what heirlooms seeds are, explains why genetically modified crops are bad, and gives some good tips on how to save seeds yourself.
John Nese is the proprietor of Galco's Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lover's destination. About 500 pops line the shelves, sourced lovingly by John from around the world. John has made it his mission to keep small soda-makers afloat and help them find their consumers. Galco's also acts as a distributor for restaurants and bars along the West Coast, spreading the gospel of soda made with cane sugar (no high-fructose corn syrup if John can avoid it).
Here's the cliche: Alex Hozven craved pickles when she was pregnant with her first son, 12 years ago. And the twist: She started her own pickling business. The Cultured Pickle Shop sells pickles ranging from classic sauerkrauts to unusual kimchees and Kombuchas- way beyond the sour dill. But it's the experiments, like the mysterious nuka pot or pickled blood oranges, that really get Hozven excited. There's plenty of zing, zest, pow in all her pickles, though.
Sean Thackrey is a winemaker, indeed, but he is so much more: an archivist, historian, linguist, photographer, art collector. Thackrey shares his views on the importance of barrels, respect for ancient techniques like letting grapes rest, the word terroir (he hates it), and much more. For wine aficionados, he's an inspiration. For wine novices, he's a deep source of knowledge.

Nach Waxman is owner of one of the largest food bookstores in the country, Kitchen Arts & Letters, in Manhattan. From his perch behind the counter, he sees customers-famous chefs, not-famous line cooks, and civilians alike-streaming in to peruse his bountiful, unusual collection. Waxman shows us the basement, where he's got some truly rare books. And he shares an unlikely bookstore success story: beating Barnes & Noble.
Ann Cooper was a celebrity chef before she wrote a book, Bitter Harvest, that got her thinking about the connection between food and health.
