If you had all the choice in the world, what would you do?'The Long Tail' by Chris Anderson is an exposition of how greater access to choices of products has altered business practices. Greater value can be unlocked from producers selling to consumers via better aggregation methods such as digitisation and rating systems. This has had huge impacts on music/market places/culture and given rise to massive companies like Amazon, Netflix and Google.I summarised the book as follows. "It's a great explanation of a phenomena and trend. Generates a compelling argument of why all these companies arose with links to the deeper principles behind them. I think there are some limitations of how the long tail will apply to future trends (AI/social media/3D printing) but did a great job of explaining at the time. It could have been slightly shorter and it is a little bit dated but it gave me a lot of insights into economic and market dynamics."I hope you have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. Monica Fullerton - Creating an Online Market Place for Military & First Responder Families Monica Fullerton got her Masters and planned to pursue a job as a news anchor, but as an Air Force spouse that was not an easy career path to navigate. Instead Monica found work with a logistics company. It provided the ground work for her entrepreneurial journey. Monica has had an entrepreneurial spirit her whole life, but was waiting for the right business idea that provided purpose. She had an epiphany while riding in a car with some fellow spouses about the amount of talent spouses have to offer from things they make to the services they provide. Unfortunately military spouses are often underemployed or can't find employment due to the military lifestyle. With that motivation, Spouse-ly was born. Spouse-ly Spouse-ly is an online marketplace where you can shop for products and services all created by military or first responder families. Monica likens it to “Etsy” and“ Angie's List” colliding with a purpose of supporting our nation's heroes. This platform provides a place for spouses to create and earn money in the midst of the demanding lifestyles. Monica has hit the ground running, she was named “a Trailblazer in Tech by Military Spouse Magazine, Forbes Next 1000 List, and recently named on the MIGHTY 25 list as one of the most influential leaders supporting the military community.” Learn More www.spouse-ly.com FB: fb.com/spousely Instagram: @spouse.ly VeteranCrowd Network Our "forever promise" is to build the veteran and military spouse community a place to connect and engage. Caulen Foster is the Co-Founder and President of BrainPower, a rapidly growing, full-service digital marketing agency that specializes in multi-channel brand expansion from Amazon onto Shopify. They help Amazon brand owners leverage the power of paid media, email, direct response copywriting, conversion rate optimization, and digital infrastructure to create an effective omni-channel marketing strategy. Caulen is also the Founder of Almond Pro Foods, inventing the almond protein industry in 2016. In this episode… Selling on multiple channels can help many Amazon sellers expand their market share and drive more sales. It’s not enough anymore to sell on a single platform — because shoppers have different preferences and may choose to buy through one and not the other. For this reason, Amazon sellers should think about expanding to other e-commerce platforms like Shopify. However, for this process to be effective and achieve its goals, it’s important to have the right commercially viable product that’s ideal for selling on Shopify. They also need to have a strong and unique selling proposition, build the right infrastructure to attract and capture new customers, and have the right strategies in place for retaining returning, long-term customers. In this episode of the Innovations and Breakthroughs Podcast, Rich Goldstein interviews Caulen Foster, the Co-founder and President of BrainPower, about how he helps Amazon sellers expand their online market reach by moving to Shopify. He talks about the benefits of selling on multiple channels, the value of having the right infrastructure in place, and how he guides sellers through the Amazon to Shopify transition.

Ak by sme poznali skutočné pozadie, boli by sme sklamaní. Navyše, deti, ktoré zverejňujú rodičia raz vyrastú a ich fotky z detstva im môžu prísť trápne. Pozreli sme sa aj na Facebook, Instagram a LinkedIN. * Prečo by Influencerom nemala prekážať kritika? * Aký potenciál majú sociálne siete? * Je naozaj trávenie času na internete nezmysel?

TechInAfrica – WhatsApp and Telegram are instant messaging apps most used in the world. They enable people around the world to text chat, video chat, and share files over their networks conveniently and easily. However, Symantec’s report on these networks reveals worrying findings.According to the report, ‘Media file jacking’ flaw has affected the WhatsApp and Telegram instant apps for Android. In other words, files shared via these apps are at risk of being exposed and manipulated by ‘malicious actors’ if particular features are enabled.“It stems from the lapse in time between when media files received through the apps are written to the disk, and when they are loaded in the apps’ chat user interface (UI) for users to consume. This critical time lapse presents an opportunity for malicious actors to intervene and manipulate media files without the user’s knowledge,” said Symantec explaining how it works. This vulnerability leads hackers to misuse and exploit files such as personal photos, videos, documents, invoices, and voice memos shared on the platforms. The impact of the vulnerability is that hackers can manipulate the image, payment, audio messages, and spread fake news. Thus, this can lead to misunderstanding and chaos between people who communicate via the apps.Symantec explains that WhatsApp and Telegram can protect the threats by validating the integrity of files, storing media in non-public directories and encrypting sensitive files. The good news is that Google is planning to change how to access files with Android Q. It will implement a more restrictive way to access files on our mobile phone and be able to mitigate threats that exploit the WhatsApp or Telegram flaw.Source: techweez.comFOR MORE: www.techinafrica.comSupport the show (http://www.techinafrica.com)
Hello African Tech Junkies! Fancy an insightful podcast about the current tech and what's just around the corner?
TechInAfrica – Africa’s largest economy agreed to join a broad free trade agreement aimed at stimulating manufacturing industry across the continent. Eritrea is therefore the only African country not to be part of the trading bloc. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari signed this historic agreement at the African Union (AU) summit in Niger few hours ago. The agreement should stimulate regional trade and allow companies to develop and enter new markets. Manufacturing currently accounts for only about 10 per cent of the African Union’s combined GDP of $3.4 trillion, and the trade agreement could make this sector more competitive and productive. Initially, Nigeria feared that by exposing its manufacturers to increased competition, the agreement would lead to the bankruptcy of some of them and increase unemployment. But after reviewing an impact assessment of the trade agreement in June, Buhari agreed to join the free trade area. With Nigeria’s accession, AfCFTA’s dream of increasing intra-African trade, which is currently lagging behind the volume of trade the continent does with Europe, is now closer. Now that AfCFTA can offer access to the huge Nigerian market, they are in a much better position to negotiate with regional bodies in other parts of the world. But why was Eritrea excluded?Eritrea did not participate in the negotiations because of its conflict with Ethiopia, according to AU Commission Trade and Industry Commissioner Albert Muchanga. He added that now the two countries are at peace and that Eritrea has asked the AU to reach an agreement with them. They might be joining the agreement in the coming months.Source: BBC NewsFOR MORE: www.techinafrica.comSupport the show (http://www.techinafrica.com)
