Max talks with Cole Crawford from ForeFlight about the company's latest innovation: Dynamic Procedures. Built to replace the static, legacy approach chart paradigm, Dynamic Procedures enables pilots to access IFR approach information dynamically, contextually, and interactively—right from the ForeFlight map screen. Cole explains that most pilots spend their time in ForeFlight's moving map, but approach procedures often pulled them out of that environment into static “plates.” Dynamic Procedures changes that by embedding approach information into the map itself, using a smart sidebar that adjusts to what's relevant—no more scanning through unnecessary minimums or ambiguous notes. Max and Cole walk through an ILS approach into Austin, Texas, highlighting features like: A dynamic sidebar showing stepdowns, minimums, and missed instructions Color-coded segments that reflect which part of the procedure is active Integrated 3D lighting views showing actual approach light systems Compatibility with both FAA and Jeppesen charts One-tap toggling between chart and chartless views Cole also introduces the revamped “Approach Mode” in Profile View. It declutters the horizontal profile to focus solely on the approach, making threshold crossing height, descent angles, and fix altitudes easier to interpret. The profile also includes range tick marks so pilots can visualize their distance from the runway—helpful when sequencing into an uncontrolled field or estimating when to descend. The conversation explores how this feature enhances safety—particularly by minimizing the chance of referencing incorrect minimums or missing key notes during busy phases of flight. Cole shares how the sidebar automatically selects the applicable minimum for the aircraft category, based on user input. And the system can handle complex logic, such as adjusting minimums for altimeter source changes—automatically, without the pilot having to do the math. They demonstrate several unique procedures, including RNAV approaches with course reversals and circling minimums. In circling scenarios, the system visually depicts the circling area boundary on the map, helping pilots better visualize protected airspace—especially when flying at non-standard pattern altitudes. The discussion wraps up with insights into how ForeFlight builds this feature using raw procedural data from global ANSPs (Air Navigation Service Providers). Instead of pre-composed charts, Dynamic Procedures generates visuals on-the-fly using Jeppesen data, allowing more flexibility, better legibility, and real-time filtering. The app dynamically renders labels, declutters unnecessary data, and tailors the view to your position and approach segment. Cole offers practical advice for pilots transitioning to this new paradigm. He encourages users not to discard traditional charts immediately, but to use Dynamic Procedures alongside plates at first, eventually growing comfortable with the new tool as a primary briefing method—similar to how many pilots gradually adopted ForeFlight's aeronautical map over VFR sectionals and low-altitude charts. The feature will roll out with a preview to all ForeFlight subscribers in supported regions (U.S., Canada, Pacific Islands), after which it will be available to Essential-tier and above subscribers. Extensive documentation, webinars, and in-app support will help pilots get up to speed. This episode is essential listening for IFR pilots interested in the future of digital flight planning and safety—especially those ready to reimagine how they brief and fly approaches. Co-Host Dr. Laura Sicola (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/sicola) VIDEO VERSION: https://mountaintoppodcast.com/youtube My returning guest is Dr. Laura Sicola, TEDx speaker and author of Speaking To Influence: Mastering Your Leadership Voice. The last time she was on, we meant to talk about how to master your leadership voice, but instead ended up talking about how your name matters in dating and attraction. So as promised, she's back to cover what we had originally planned. What's the first step to using your voice to get ahead in your career, and indeed in life? Find out about what Laura calls "the linguistic glass ceiling" and how to blast through it. What are the special communication skills that are unique to leaders? How can high IQ guys fall into traps that are uniquely set for them? As it turns out, the way to make people think you're smart and competent is very similar to how to make them think you're a cool guy. Laura explains that in detail, including how the "dance of communication" ties into it. How do we pigeonhole ourselves into poor leadership communication, simply by overlooking the nuanced finesse required in most situations? Better yet, how do we fix that? How do you adjust both the objective and subjective elements of your communications style based on who exactly you're leading, and in what context? How can you earn respect through your communicative leadership rather than demanding it? What's the real relationship between what you say and how you say it? (Hint: It may not be what you've heard in the past.) How can you "match the energy" of the person you're talking to in a way that builds respect and rapport? What are the big mistakes that even major companies make when attempting to communicate to their customer base in a way that creates admiration and goodwill? Get in on the new VIDEO version of the podcast at https://mountaintoppodcast.com/youtube === HELP US SEND THE MESSAGE TO GREAT MEN EVERYWHERE === The show is now available as a VIDEO version on YouTube. On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, we have a lot of fake MAGA conmen influencers trying to exploit the Jeffrey Epstein matter for financial gain through clicks and subscriptions. These conmen have spread false predictions about the Iran-Israel conflict, such as World War III involvement by China and Russia, and for aligning with dictators while opposing U.S. interests. The left-wing media love these conmen because they think they can damage President Trump over Epstein. This mix of Marxist Islamists and isolation conmen is very dangerous - even Trump isn't good enough for them. You stand with Trump, or you don't. Also, an entire staff at a hospital in Suwayda, Syria, was slaughtered by Islamist terrorists. The Druze, an Arab minority sect, are being attacked by terrorist groups backed by the Syrian military, and only Israel and the IDF are intervening by entering Syria to defend them through attacks on terrorists and Syrian forces. Later, Zohran Mamdani is an anti-Semite, racist, and Islamist Marxist who refuses to denounce the Global Intifada slogan promoting terrorism, wants to tax white neighborhoods more, and seeks to seize private property. His ideology is that of Lenin, Mao, Stalin and Castro but there are Democrats like AOC and Sen Bernie Sander who back him anyway. Afterward, Gov Greg Abbott, with support from Trump and the DOJ, has called a special session in Texas to redraw congressional districts after findings of illegal gerrymandering. This could net Republicans up to five additional House seats. Democrats, led by Hakeem Jeffries, are in panic mode, planning a walkout to deny quorum—similar to their failed 2021 effort—but Republicans are prepared to counter with arrests, fines, or seat vacancies. Jason Kander and Ravi Gupta break down the escalating fallout from the Epstein case, as Trump faces renewed questions about his connection to the disgraced financier. They analyze a series of clips featuring Trump allies like Pam Bondi, Dan Bongino, and Kash Patel scrambling to defend him, as well as notable reactions from Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan. Kander and Gupta also examine a bizarre moment involving Alan Dershowitz that's raising eyebrows across the political spectrum. Then, they shift to the troubling FEMA response to catastrophic flooding in Texas, where Governor Noem delayed deployment of emergency teams and the federal agency failed to answer thousands of survivor calls. They unpack reporting from CNN, The Atlantic, and The New York Times, showing how a depleted FEMA workforce and lack of leadership are hindering disaster relief. Plus, they dive into new inflation data as tariffs begin to bite, Trump's erratic threats against Brazil, and an eyebrow-raising moment where Trump redefines his stance on Putin from the Oval Office. In this powerful episode, we dive deep into the devastating flash floods that struck Kerr County, Texas, on July 4th, 2025. What began as a typical summer storm turned into a deadly and destructive event, leaving communities reeling, homes underwater, and lives changed forever. We unpack the timeline of the disaster, examine what went wrong—from emergency response shortfalls to infrastructure failures—and ask the hard questions about preparedness. But more than just a breakdown of the events, this episode explores a sobering truth: sometimes, even the best preparation may not be enough. We discuss the limits of self-reliance in the face of natural disasters and how mental, emotional, and community resilience play just as crucial a role as gear and planning. Whether you're into disaster preparedness, survival strategy, or just want to understand what really happened in Kerr County, this episode is a must-listen. Because the next flood, fire, or storm could be closer than you think—and we owe it to ourselves to learn from those who lived through it.

When I visited the Alamo I felt the emotion of a place that was made pretty special by sacrifice. It was February 1836 when that little Spanish mission went into the history books. You remember the story. The Mexican forces, thousands strong, were advancing to crush the little Texas independence movement. Sam Houston needed time to organize his troops in order to fight back, and he did get that time because of what happened at the Alamo, and he did win, and they did get their independence. But in the meantime, the Alamo was the key to victory. One hundred eighty-six freedom fighters took a stand in that little mission called the Alamo - a stand that is still over 150 years later synonymous with heroism. You know, "Remember the Alamo!" Colonel William Travis was in command that day. The enemy demanded surrender, and Travis's answer could not be misunderstood. In fact, it's the same answer I hope you will give to the enemy's demands on you. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Un-intimidated." Now, our word for today from the Word of God comes from Acts 4, and I'll begin reading at verse 24. It gives you a little insight into the battles being fought by the early church. Now, the Sanhedrin, the Jewish leaders, have called in Peter and John and have told them not to preach any more in the name of Jesus. And it says, "After further threats, they let them go." They could not decide on how to punish them because all the people were praising God for what had happened. So, they basically tried to shut down the witness of these people. The church gets together in a prayer meeting and prays like this in verse 29, "Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak Your Word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand and heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant, Jesus." Man, that's a powerful response! The Sanhedrin had organized the crucifixion of Jesus not long before. These men could have possibly arranged for the same fate for the apostles they were trying to shut down. But here this bold prayer comes back as an answer. Now, they're experiencing heavy pressure on their faith, and they seem unintimidated. They're talking about miracles; they're talking about boldness. Reminds me of that stand at the Alamo. Colonel Travis received the demand to surrender, and he said to his troops, "There has been a demand from the enemy that we surrender, and I have answered with a cannon shot." Huh! I love that! "I've answered with a cannon shot," he says, "and our flag still waves proudly. I will live and die as a soldier." Now, maybe the Devil's been trying to get you on the defensive lately and demanding your surrender - you're being hammered, and squeezed, maybe overwhelmed. The temptation is to back off, to retreat, to nurse your wounds and maybe to not take any risks. But would you look at your heritage in Christ? When other Christians in the first century were in that situation, they were bold; they came out asking for miracles to do the supernatural. Where did this bold response to trouble come from? This cannon shot? It comes from a prayer meeting; one that if you read their prayer here in Acts 4, focuses on God's character, God's power, God's history, and God's promises. And when you size up your situation, your opposition in light of God's power, you are ready to go on offense. You don't need to play defense. Hey, maybe the enemy has demanded your surrender. Well, answer with a prayer-ignited cannon shot, "I shall never surrender! I shall never retreat!" In spite of the bombardment, you can stand firm in Jesus' name, and you can be unintimidated.
“Is marrying your best friend really the secret to a lasting relationship?” In this heartwarming and hilarious episode of The JB and Sandy Show, the crew dives into the age-old question of whether your spouse should also be your best friend. Backed by a Harvard professor's 25-year study on love, Tricia, JB, and Sandy unpack what it really means to build a lasting relationship—and why some couples thrive with a little space (and separate bedrooms). But don't worry, it's not all serious. The episode takes a wild turn into childhood memories, including:Sandy's unforgettable roly poly nose challengeMarty's fart-filled car contestsThe horrors of hammerhead flatworms invading Texas lawnsAnd the universal truth: boys will do anything for no reason at all“I didn't marry my best friend—and I didn't want to. I wanted someone else to bear that burden.” “We talked until we fell asleep… and then picked up the conversation the next morning.” Whether you're in a long-term relationship, reminiscing about your childhood, or just here for the laughs, this episode delivers a perfect mix of real talk, ridiculous stories, and relatable moments.
“What would you do if someone broke into your house—call 911 or grab a hammer?” In this wildly entertaining and thought-provoking episode of The JB and Sandy Show, the crew dives into everything from Texas gun culture to the most outrageous ways to consume alcohol—and somehow, it all makes perfect sense. The show kicks off with a cultural curveball: an Austrian woman living in Austin is stunned by the “We Don't Call 911” signs proudly displayed in Texas yards. This sparks a deep (and hilarious) conversation about self-defense laws, concealed carry classes, and the stark contrast between European and American attitudes toward guns. Then, things take a turn—from serious to seriously funny—as JB, Sandy, and Tricia go down memory lane, recalling the craziest drinking traditions they've ever witnessed (or participated in). From ice luges and body shots to vodka-injected oranges and beer bongs, no method is too wild for this crew. “I've never had a Long Island Iced Tea in my life—and that's one of my proudest drinking achievements.” “We drank a case and a half of beer in 24 hours. I was impressed.” Whether you're here for the laughs, the nostalgia, or the cultural commentary, this episode delivers it all with the signature JB and Sandy charm.

The episode heats up when Courtney's BFF Elle enlists them to cook a special birthday dinner for her momma, Jeannie's 83rd celebration. They whip up a menu featuring a grilled peach and stracciatella salad, a rif on their Sweet Potato Gratin, and Lance's Panty Dropper Chicken (which didn't make Momma Ashley's panties didn't drop).
