Everton have started their summer recruitment drive with the permanent capture of Carlos Alcaraz after a successful spell on loan. But there remains a lot for David Moyes to do. Little wonder, then, the Blues boss is getting linked with players left, right and centre, whether it be Manchester City pair Jack Grealish and James McAtee, or Villarreal rising star Thierno Barry. But there are also pressing contract situations to sort, most pertinently Idrissa Gueye, who alongside Everton team-mate Iliman Ndiaye, starred as Senegal secured a stunning 3-1 win at the City Ground last night over woeful England, whose decision to rest Jordan Pickford backfired. Everton's recruitment team has been formally boosted by the appointment of Nick Hammond. The transfer specialist has now started his work as part of the new-look recruitment team at Everton. Join Ian Croll and Connor O'Neill as they discuss the latest transfer news and rumours coming out of the Hill Dickinson Stadium.  *Emotional farewell to Goodison Park | 16-page Everton souvenir picture special:*  https://shop.regionalnewspapers.co.uk/liverpool-echo-monday-19th-may-2025-4583-p.asp *Goodbye to Goodison special souvenir edition:*  https://tinyurl.com/GoodbyeGoodisonSouvenir *25 Best Reach Podcasts*https://podcast.feedspot.com/reach_podcasts/#h5644883 *Gavin Buckland's Book 'The End' | Order your copy here:* https://tinyurl.com/GavinBucklandTheEnd Everton FC podcasts from the Liverpool ECHO's Royal Blue YouTube channel. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 11th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 8:5. Jesus is talking about the parable of the seed and the sower. He says: “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside;…” Now I am going to stop there and I am going to explain something to you as an old farmer. The most important thing for a farmer to do is to plant the seed, sow the seed, and stop procrastinating! You don't have to be a farmer, you might be a student at university. Keep on studying! You might be a sportsman who is trying to make it in the first team. Keep on playing that game! You might be looking for that wife or that husband. Keep on keeping on. That's how you do it!I have been farming from the age of 19 years old and I want to tell you, the secret is to keep on putting the seed in the ground. “Oh yes, but I have done that, but it hasn't worked” Well, don't stop. That is what Jesus is saying. Some of the seed fell by the wayside, okay? So that seed was trampled down and birds devoured it. So what do you do? You go back and you plant again. Some fell on the rock and then it sprang up and because it lacked moisture, it shrivelled up. Oh yes, I have seen that. Some fell amongst thorns. Keep on planting!I don't know how many multi-millionaires I have read about that failed at least 3 times before they made it. You have got to keep on planting the seed. That's our job, and the rest is in the Lord's hands. And then verse 8: ”But others fell on good ground,…” Unconditional sowing - prepare the land properly, sow the seed, study hard, get your qualifications, step out on the water, go into that business, go for it and give it everything you have got. Don't spare anything, and I tell you what - if you do not grow weary in doing good, in due season, you will reap if you do not lose heart.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 8th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Genesis 12:1: Now the Lord had said to Abram:“Get out of your country,From your familyAnd from your father's house,To a land that I will show you.”Then we go straight to the Book of Hebrews 12:1:”… let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, …” I want to say to you right at the outset so you get it loud and clear, we are not talking this morning about immigration, we are not necessarily talking about changing our country or our residence, but what we are talking about is the journey of life. Maybe today you are starting a new journey because you have just been newly married, and what a blessing that is, but it comes with a lot of challenges: two people from two different backgrounds, two different homes, two different habits, and now you have got to work together! That is a journey, one that I walked on for over 50 years, and I remember the day I made the pledge to my beloved Jill, like it was yesterday. Maybe you are on a journey, you are just starting a family, your first baby is about to be born - so exciting, so scary! “I don't know if I can handle it. I don't know if I am cut out for it!” Yes, you are and yes, you can, but you see, the ingredient here is one word, “faith”. You see faith is the substance of things hoped for, it is the evidence of things not yet seen. (Hebrews 11:1). By faith you can do it. Maybe it's a new business you are starting. That's a new journey, the first time in your life, now you have left employment, and now you are stepping out into the unknown and you are starting your own business. A lot of people are saying to you, “Go for it”, others are saying, “Don't be a fool.” Hear from God and step out by faith! Maybe you are just about to get your degree and now you are starting your career. It's a journey, young man, young lady and it is one you cannot afford to go on by yourself. Maybe it is home time. Yes, maybe as you are listening to this message, the doctors have said you have three months and then that is it. Well, it depends on what God says, but we need to be prepared for this journey. We need to make sure that everything is settled at home, nothing outstanding. Write those letters, contact those people. Make sure that when you leave you are not carrying any baggage when you go to Heaven. Then most important, your spiritual journey. Some of you have just met Jesus very recently, maybe some through this very message that I send you every day. Some of you may be walking with the Lord for a long time. It doesn't matter. Make sure your spiritual journey is intact so that when the Master calls you, you can say, “I am ready Lord, and I am ready for home time.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful journey,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 6th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Genesis 7:16: “…and the Lord shut him in.” Then we go straight to the Book of Hebrews 11:7: “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, …” Noah is rated as one of the great giants of the faith in the Bible. Noah and his whole family were saved by faith in God. Remember, it never rained on the earth until Noah had built the ark, and all the animals and his family (there were eight of them, three sons and their wives plus Noah and his wife) had gone into the ark, and the Lord shut the door. Then it started raining for 40 days and 40 nights. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”Many, many years ago, when I was a brand-new Christian, my wife, Jill and I, invited some Indian ladies to come and visit us at Shalom. They were beautifully dressed in saris, I just love those saris, and they said, “Brother Angus, we want to be baptised. Please baptise us.” The only place I had in those days was the dam in front of my little house. They said, “That will do fine.” It was so cold that morning, there was ice around the edge of our little dam. Some of those ladies were senior citizens. They walked into that water, freezing cold, in their beautiful saris and I had the privilege of baptising them, and as they came out of the water they started to prophesy over Jill and I. They said many people would be saved in this place and this place, Shalom, would become an ark, like Noah's ark, a sanctuary for the lost, and I want to say to you today, my dear friend, that the Lord honours faith. You see, the rain only started coming after Noah was in the ark and the door was closed. It didn't start raining, and then he built the ark. You need to walk by faith and not by sight, and by the way, that prophetic word came to pass because many of you listening to this message have been on this farm, where we have seen tens of thousands of people come to Christ, and into a renewal of their faith, and into a first time commitment. Today, just do what God tells you to do.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

Matching Day: Part 1

Matching Day: Part 1To love risks more than just her heart.Based on a post by SmallTownPrincess, in 2 parts. Listen to the Podcast at Connected.Girls spend their entire lives looking forward to the fateful Matching Day - and whether or not they will admit it, boys, too, have at least a healthy curiosity. It's so reassuring, knowing that in your eighteenth year, you and your age-mates will be paired off, brought together with another from their own community or a surrounding one that match them perfectly. No song-and-dance dating rituals, like the ones in the books Livia liked to read, no old maids, no riotous bachelors; just simple, comforting compatibility."Have you heard?" The hushed, conspiratorial tones issued from the pink-lacquered lips of Livia's best friend, Mara."What?" Livia's low-pitched voice always made her sound disinterested, but she paid close attention to Mara when her friend sounded this urgent."There was a big accident over in Micrague. One guy died!""Oh, that's terrible," Livia murmured, letting her eyelashes drop and rise again to half-mast in a brief show of empathy. It was all she had time for, as Mara leaned suddenly, ever more urgently forward, gripping Livia's arm in both hands."That's not the worst thing," she rolled on. "The guy who was killed? He just turned eighteen. That makes the numbers for tomorrow's Matching uneven!"Two full breaths, painful to the impatient Mara, passed before Livia spoke in response. "So, what, someone won't be paired? A girl will be left without her match?""Whoever matched with him will have no pair on Matching Day," Mara proclaimed ominously. Her eyes were wide and glittering with morbid excitement."What do they do about that?" It was unheard of, as far as Livia knew; there were always even numbers, always a perfect match for everyone.Mara gave an exaggerated shrug. "Maybe she'll never be matched."Livia was surprised into laughter. "They can't leave her without a match forever," she said with certainty. "Maybe they'll search out another community for someone that fits even better than that poor boy who died."Her reassuring confidence sent Mara, humming, away to terrify someone else with proclamations of an eternity alone for some poor girl. The thought nagged at Livia for the rest of the afternoon, though. What if he was matched with me?"Verin Massada," the stern voice called from the central platform, and a stick-thin brunette drifted toward the three steps that lifted her above the circle of impatient teenagers."Philip Pressia." The broad-shouldered redhead that stepped up to take Verin's hand smirked and bowed at the polite smattering of applause that ushered the happy new couple off the stage. Livia smiled approvingly; Verin needed a little more humor in her life.Livia watched each girl she'd grown up with walk back into the circle, shyly clutching the hand of her new mate, and twisted her skirt nervously in her fingers. It seemed forever before the 'R's were called, and the wad of boys brought in from all the different communities steadily shrank. She met the clear grey eyes of one of the remaining boys as Clanley Ritchell was met by a generic-looking, dark-haired boy, and she thought fleetingly, I hope I'm matched with him. He seemed to be thinking the same thing; his face fell a little when he was called up to greet a willowy blond on the dais."Danica Soress," the voice demanded, and Livia stood a little straighter with a sharp intake of breath. Had she been skipped? All the vague, incoherent fears that had accompanied Mara's morbid pronouncement coursed through Livia, charged with shame as some girls recognized the omission and turned to look at her with expressions of varying pity. Livia felt on the edge of tears. She saw the blond - that wretched Salvia - pull the grey-eyed boy down to whisper cruelly in his ear and point in Livia's direction, and she contemplated melting into the dirt. With the blood roaring loudly in her ears, she heard no other names called, and stared fixedly at a nondescript blade of grass in front of her to avoid the glances that were flickering toward her. How can this be? she thought frantically. How can I not have a match?"Livia, what's going on?" Mara's face held ghoulish curiosity with only an edge of concern for her friend, and Livia couldn't deal with her. She turned without a word and marched to the fountain a good distance away from the platform. People were breaking off now, finding secluded spots to get to know this person with whom they'd be partnered forever. Livia, wrapping her arms tightly around her gut, had never felt so alone. How could she have lost a lifetime of companionship without ever tasting it? It was too, too cruel. What right did that boy have to take away everything in one fell swoop? How could he die? She wanted to shake her fist at the heavens, demand an explanation, but she just trailed her fingers through the rippling water in the fountain basin, swallowing hard against the wave of emotions that threatened to show itself grotesquely in her features."His name was Bracken, if that helps," said a voice behind her, and she jumped, throwing water onto her dress. She turned to see that grey-eyed boy approaching, and she prepared herself for the humiliation she was sure to experience at his hands; he had, after all, been matched like everyone else, and she was alone - possibly forever. He did not mock her, though; his eyes held the soft, cautious understanding of someone who pitied another, but was not sure whether that person desired sympathy or not. When she said nothing, he shrugged self-consciously. "Sorry, I realize you might not have wanted to know. I just, he was my best friend. I thought if you did want to know about him, I'd at least let you know who you could ask."A flood of gratitude made it temporarily impossible for her to speak, and then she forced a smile. "I think I'd like to know," she said hesitantly. She wasn't sure; would it be better to know nothing about what she'd never have, or to at least have pleasant thoughts about what could've been? "Can I ask you something now?""Absolutely.""Would I have liked him?"The boy nodded. "I think so. He was quiet at first, it took a while to get to know him. But once you did, there was no one you trusted more." He added, with the hesitation of an afterthought but the seriousness of something he'd intended to say all along, "Seeing you here, there's no doubt that he would have liked you."He gave Livia one last smile and lay his hand over hers for a moment, ignoring the water droplets that sat on it like dew. For a warm second, she felt a rush of what it might have been like to have someone get to know her intimately over a lifetime, to love and understand her and for her to love back, and then the grey-eyed boy was walking with wide strides back to Salvia, and nothing but a hollow sadness remained beneath her breastbone.Livia hated them. All of them. The girls with their softly rolling curls, teased and coached for hours in order to look casually delicate when the boys, their shirts tucked in and their shoes shined, arrived at their doorsteps carrying one or two or twenty flowers in one hand and a shining invitation in the other. They walked with springing steps the short distance to the gathering hall in the center of town, hand in hand or arm in arm, and Livia wanted to throw rocks at the whole lot of them. She had been invited, sort of, to join in on the festivities. The community officials, not sure what to do with the first single person over eighteen in a century, had hesitantly allowed for her participation in all the new couples' activities; so far, she had partaken in none of them.Desperately, she wanted to be a part of the revelry, but she could not force herself to walk into the rooms full of happy girls and their happy boys, and have nothing herself. Her mother, unable to comfort her, had begged her to go to the dance. It was the last night before all the boys would be returning to their own communities, taking their matches with them. It was the last night she would seek Mara, who had paired with a boy from Onek. And she'd tried: she'd gotten dressed, piled her hair up on top of her head and pulled her elbow-length gloves on, but nothing could motivate her to step outside her house as streams of giggling lovebirds trickled by on the way to the hall."Go, Livia," her mother said, coming up behind her with a basket of laundry on her hip. "You should at least go long enough to say goodbye to Mara.""I can't, Mama. Think of how they'll look at me!"Her mother bent Livia's head down to kiss her on the forehead. "It's not your fault, Neinei, and they know that. They feel bad for you. They all want to see you. The world didn't end when that poor boy died.""Bracken," Livia said defiantly. Her mother had refused to say his name, insisting that it was better for Livia to know nothing about what she had lost.Patting her daughter's shoulder, she adjusted her basket and turned to leave. "Go."Livia had retreated around the side of the gathering hall, standing just outside the golden pool of light that poured like honey from the windows. Sobs caught in her throat and were choked down, unvoiced, as she watched Mara and Verin and Danica and dozens of others receive chaste pecks from shy boys as they spun by in their brightly-colored dresses, waving fluted, bubbling glasses and laughing with abandon. And there, the grey-eyed boy, Bracken's best friend, was seated quietly with his hands folded in his lap, listening politely to an enthusiastic rendition of some trivial event or another by Salvia. It was always easy to tell when she was excited about something, as her arms pinwheeled and hands fluttered with no thought to how the gestures went along with the story. He glanced up, and his eyes met, for a moment, Livia's. He looked surprised to see her there, and then a bit sad, and then his gaze drifted back to Salvia, who had grabbed his knee in her earnestness. This infinitesimal rejection, the refusal to even meet her eyes for more than a moment, pushed Livia over the edge. Tears, burning like acid, washed over her face, and she stumbled away from the window, crying with pitiful lack of restraint. She staggered into the sparse forest, the trees providing scattered shelter from curious eyes, if any should choose to drift away from the golden party, and the darkness of the night fit her mood, a strangely soothing thought."Are you alright?" For the second time, the grey-eyed boy's voice jolted her out of her own misery. She would not face him; not now, when her eyes were puffy and irritated, her nose red and her face streaked with dirty tear tracks. He would see her and compare her to Salvia, and she would fall short; she could not handle right now seeing him weigh her that way and find her lacking. His hand on her back was another surprise, and then both his hands weighing down on her shoulders as he stepped closer behind her. "Hey," he said gently. "Everything will turn out fine. Maybe, maybe you'll find someone better than Bracken could have been for you."She forgot her resolution not to face him then, turning toward him with her eyes narrowed to angry slits. "How could I, when everyone is paired already? Besides, I had my chance - he just managed to get himself killed before I could even meet him!" The words came out much harsher than she intended, and the young man in front of her actually took a step back from her ferocity, hunching like she'd landed a blow to his gut. "I'm sorry," she said immediately, automatically. "I shouldn't have said that. He was your friend, ""It's alright," he said, giving her a ghost of a smile and waving his hand with a nonchalance that didn't show in his eyes. He had that gentle look of quiet appreciation of life that came to some people who lost loved ones, but knew that lost friend would be offended if they did not continue to smile. "I know it's probably really hard on you, seeing everyone so, happy." He trailed off, not looking happy in the least."Speaking of happy people, shouldn't you be in there with Salvia?"His face took on the contemplative expression of someone deciding how to phrase something delicately. "Salvia, she's not quite what I expected to find, on my Matching Day. She's, ""Lively?" Livia suggested. "Brazen? Exuberant?" obnoxious," the grey-eyed boy said decisively. "I don't like her at all."Livia smirked. "Well, you have to like her. She's your match. You love her."He shook his head. "No," he said quietly. "I don't.""But she's your perfect match," Livia insisted."But what if she's not?"Livia heard her heart beat twice before she asked, "What?""What if Salvia is not the perfect girl for me? What if the girl that I would love more than anyone else in the world couldn't be matched with me because, there was someone else our age who she would like a little bit better?""That doesn't even make sense," Livia said, shaking her head. "The matches have always been perfect: even numbers, complete compatibility;”"But this time they messed up, right? I mean, you should know. You're the person who's affected more than anyone else.""Well, yes, but;”"So why isn't it possible that they aren't right on everything else? What if they didn't match this girl with me because she would love this other guy more?""Well, so, maybe they did. But if you would love her so much, surely you would want to see her happy, with the man she was meant to be with, right?""Yes," he said, very seriously. "I would want to see her happy.""Then you should leave her in peace with the person she was matched with, and focus on learning to love the girl you were paired with."The interminable silence stretched between them as the grey-eyed boy stared down at the leafy ground and Livia watched the way his hair blew across his forehead in the breeze. At last he said, "What if she wasn't matched with anyone?"Livia's heart sped up, beating double time as she realized what he'd been saying all along, what she'd been too dim to put together until he'd spelled it out. "But you are matched," she said numbly. "Salvia has you."He leaned dangerously far forward, his lips brushing her ear as he whispered into it, "I don't want Salvia."Livia shrank back, confused. These were dangerous words he uttered, dangerous thoughts. People were matched with the people they were meant to be with. How could there be any other way? They couldn't be wrong; there'd been no divorce, no infidelity, no broken hearts in the decades people had been paired this way. Surely it was the right way. It had to be."I don't even know your name," Livia said resolutely, as though that settled the matter and proved him wrong. She pushed against his chest to force him back, feeling the blazing heat of his heart under her palm."It's Mason," he said quietly, and his words had the sound of discussion-ending power to them too. Livia was conscious of the fact that she had not moved her hand from his chest; her fingers curled slightly, enjoying the silky feeling of his shirt over his skin, and the warmth that radiated from his flesh."Go back to Salvia, Mason," she whispered. She realized she was shaking from head to toe, and not from cold. Here was everything she had ever wanted, everything she had imagined when she thought of her Matching Day, but he was not hers. "Please, go back to the party."With a sigh, Mason touched her cheek briefly, the lightest of butterfly wing contacts, and then he turned and vanished into the night, not toward the party, but deeper into the forest. Livia stood for a long time without moving, her mind racing and her heart pounding like a runner's feet, and then she walked, slowly, directly away from Mason."You didn't come to the party last night," Mara said, breaking the silence that stood like frosted glass between her and Livia."No." Livia had gotten no sleep the night before; lying in bed, replaying continually the frightening moments with Mason, her heart had never slowed."Well, I just wanted to say goodbye, " Mara twisted her hands for a moment before wrapping Livia up in a warm and desperate hug. "I'm sorry, Lenny. I'm going to miss you so much."The tension between them melted, and Livia returned the hug tightly, sighing. "It's hard to believe I'll never see any of you again - all the girls I've known all my life! Except for Maize and Crista, they're the only ones who matched with boys from here, right? And I don't really even know them.""Well, you'll see Salvia too, for a little while."Breathe in. Breathe out. "Why's that?""Oh, that fellow she paired with - Mason, isn't it? - his parents have some sort of huge wedding ceremony planned, and they've got a house mostly built for the two of them. They told him to stay here a while, get to know his partner's family for a bit, let her spend some more time with them, and then head back once the house and all the plans were done."Wedding were an extravagance, a luxury that most people went without, especially if they didn't have the means to make it a massive event. The fact that Mason's family was going to such lengths meant they must be well off indeed."So Mason, and Salvia, will be around for a while?""Yeah, at least a month, I'd say."A buzzing numbness in her extremities made it difficult for Livia to respond. She had thought Mason would be gone today, that she'd never have to see him and Salvia together again. But they would be here for a month,"Speak of the devil," Mara said cheerfully, skipping over to greet Salvia as she pranced up the path with Mason's hand gripped in her own vice-like claw. The dark circles under his eyes said that he, too, had had a night with little sleep.

Everton are braced for another summer of interest in Jarrad Branthwaite. The centre-back remains on the radar of several Premier League clubs. The Blues rebuffed two bids for the 22-year-old from Manchester United last summer. Neither offer, with the second for a package worth around £50m, came close to meeting the club's valuation of a player who had enjoyed a stunning breakthrough year. Branthwaite is under contract at Everton until the end of June 2027, having signed a new deal following his emergence into the first team in the opening months of the 2023/24 campaign. Everton, who signed him from Carlisle United in 2020, are in a strong position to rebuff speculative interest as a result. Looking deeper into the squad, a number of Everton players with uncertain futures remain out the club, but for how long? Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane will see their contracts run out at the end of June while Nathan Patterson has struggled to impress upon his return from injury.  A forward remains a priority for the blues having been rebuffed by Liam Delap, who chose Chelsea. Where does that leave Beto who has turned his Everton career around with a bag full of goals in the second half of the season?  Join Ian Croll and Tony Scott for the Wednesday addition of the Royal Blue podcast as they discuss the latest transfer news and rumours and give their thoughts on who they would keep, sell and release.  *Emotional farewell to Goodison Park | 16-page Everton souvenir picture special:*  https://shop.regionalnewspapers.co.uk/liverpool-echo-monday-19th-may-2025-4583-p.asp *Goodbye to Goodison special souvenir edition:*  https://tinyurl.com/GoodbyeGoodisonSouvenir *Gavin Buckland's Book 'The End' | Order your copy here:* https://tinyurl.com/GavinBucklandTheEnd Everton FC podcasts from the Liverpool ECHO's Royal Blue YouTube channel. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 4th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Philippians 4:11. Paul says: “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content…” I looked up the word “contentment” in the Oxford Dictionary. It is a state of peaceful happiness or satisfaction. Are you content today? Am I content today? I want to ask you a question, and the Lord has asked me the same question this very morning - how much is enough? As a young man, my dream was to own my own farm, and I thought that would bring me total contentment in life. Well, I worked myself to a standstill and eventually I owned my own farm. But I have got news for you young man. That did not bring contentment to me. I was still not satisfied! You know that King David had everything that he needed. He was the hero of Israel. As a young teenager, he slaughtered a giant with one stone. Oh yes! When he went to war, he came back with victories, the people used to worship him, praise him, sing songs to him. He had as many wives as he needed and he was still not content. If you look at Psalm 51:10, he says: “Create in me a clean heart, O God,And renew a steadfast spirit within me.Do not cast me away from Your presence,And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”So David had everything, but he still was not content, then he went back to the Lord and he said, “Oh Lord, renew in me a clean heart”. I received a beautiful letter from a wife who is so grateful, sent to me just last night. Her husband was very sick and went into a coma. When he was in that coma, he heard a conversation with God, and God says he was never content with what he had, but God would give him one more chance, not because of anything that he had done but because of people who had prayed for him. That young man, I can tell you right now, has been given a second chance and he is totally content with his lot in life. “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6Be content with what you have, God will take care of everything else.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

(S4 Ep 26) The Beatles -Magical Mystery TourReleased in the US on November 27, 1967, In the UK in December 1967, Recorded April 25 - November 1969 (Parlophone/Capitol) Magical Mystery Tour, released in 1967, is one of The Beatles' most experimental and imaginative records. Originally a UK double EP tied to their film of the same name, the U.S. version expanded it into a full album by adding iconic singles like “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane.” The record blends psychedelic rock, orchestral pop, and surrealism, continuing the innovative spirit of Sgt. Pepper. Highlights include Lennon's dreamlike “I Am the Walrus,” McCartney's nostalgic “The Fool on the Hill,” and Harrison's hypnotic “Blue Jay Way.” Though initially met with mixed reactions, especially due to the film's confusing TV debut, the album has since gained recognition for its influence, particularly on the evolution of music videos. It also marked the debut of Apple Corps branding. With vivid songwriting, genre fusion, and rich instrumentation, Magical Mystery Tour captures The Beatles at their creative peak, offering a colorful and surreal snapshot of late-'60s pop experimentation.Signature Songs: "Hello, Goodbye", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "All You Need Is Love" Full Album: YouTube  Spotify Playlist” YouTube Spotify

This week's episode is a wild ride through unexpected musical theories, fast food rivalries, and a heartfelt tribute to a classic TV star. Buckle up for a multi-course serving of nostalgia and surprises. Segment 1: “Raspberry Seger?”Prince's Raspberry Beret turns 40 this summer, but here's the question we can't stop asking: Did Prince write that song in the style of… Bob Seger? Is this a legit theory or a full-on Mandela Effect hallucination? We investigate their shared Midwestern roots, the surprising musical similarities, and the strange-but-true story of why these two icons were supposed to meet—but never did. Also: Wolfman Mike shares a deeply personal (and very gross) tale of eating a mystery burrito in front of Prince—in the dark. Segment 2: “Burger Wars: Chapter 3 — Where's the Beef?”We've covered McDonald's. We've covered Burger King. Now it's time to give the other burger chains their shot. In Chapter 3 of our Burger Wars series, we spotlight Wendy's and the other 70s and 80s fast food joints that dared to challenge the Big Two. Can a square patty and a little old lady shouting “Where's the beef?” change the game? Is this the round where we finally declare a winner? Segment 3: “Goodbye to a 70s/80s Star”A beloved actress from our childhoods has passed away. Known for her beauty—but was that all she brought to the screen? We take a look back at her roles, her impact, and why she meant more than just a pretty face on TV. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 31st of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book in the Bible, Genesis 4:9: “Then the Lord said to Cain “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?” Then down to verse 12. The Lord says:”A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.” Then we go to the Gospel of John 8:44: ”You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” The devil is a liar. God asked Cain, ”Where is your brother?” Cain had murdered Abel and Cain told the first lie. He said, ”Am I my brother's keeper?” He knew exactly what he had done and where he had put the body but he told the Lord he didn't know. So Cain became a vagabond. I looked up the dictionary. A vagabond is someone who has no settled home. He became a vagabond and a fugitive. A fugitive is a person who lives in hiding. What a way to live! My dear friend. Today, you and I need to understand one thing. Lies come from the devil himself. He is the father of all lies. It will not get you out of trouble. It will not help you. It will, in fact, condemn you. We need to tell the truth at all costs. One of the most tragic stories that I have ever known was when President Richard Nixon, the president of the United States of America, told lies. We are talking about the Watergate scandal, when he said that he didn't do it when he did. He put his hand on the Bible and swore that he had not told lies, but you see what happens with lies, they always find you out and he was the first and only president that resigned from his office. He had to, because he told one lie on top of another lie, on top of another lie, and it cost him his position.Today, the Lord is saying to you and to me, tell the truth because if you tell lies you can be sure they will find you out. Today, speak the truth and you will not be a fugitive or a vagabond, but you will be a child of God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.

News: TCL Will Add Dolby Atmos FlexConnect to QD-Mini LED TVs Apple's smart home hub could reportedly make its debut later this year YouTube leads US TV viewing for 3rd consecutive month Top Series Finales of Network/Cable TV Shows Here is a rundown of our favorite TV Series Finales. What are your favorites? M*A*S*H – "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" (CBS, February 28, 1983)   This 2.5-hour finale remains the highest-rated scripted TV episode in U.S. history, with a 72% audience share. It masterfully blended comedy and drama, reflecting the show's tone. The Korean War ends, and the 4077th unit disbands, with emotional farewells like Hawkeye's helicopter spotting B.J.'s "GOODBYE" in stones.  The Sopranos - “Made in America” (HBO, June 10, 2007) The final episode leaves viewers with a cliffhanger that remains open to interpretation. Tony Soprano is at a diner with his family when the screen cuts to black as a suspicious-looking man glances at him. The ending doesn't explicitly confirm whether Tony is killed, but rather leaves the audience to wonder if he will continue to live under the threat of violence inherent to his mob life. The episode's iconic music, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," plays in the background, adding to the tension and suspense. The Mary Tyler Moore Show – "The Last Show" (CBS, March 19, 1977)   When WJM-TV's new owner fires the entire newsroom except the incompetent Ted Baxter, the team shares a tearful group hug, and Mary delivers a poignant monologue. Her final act of turning off the studio lights became an iconic TV trope.      Snowfall - “The Struggle” (FX, April 19, 2023) The Snowfall saga chronicled the origins and spread of crack cocaine in South Central and how it ultimately threw Los Angeles neighbourhoods into chaos. Anti-hero Franklin Saint, who we first met on a bright summer day full of promise and big dreams, ended the series on that same street hopeless, delusional and destitute. He was last seen wandering away from the house he bought for his mother - his final possession -  as officers from the L.A. Sheriff's Department swooped in to evict him over unpaid property taxes. Newhart – "The Last Newhart" (CBS, May 21, 1990)   This finale is legendary for its meta twist. After eight seasons of running  a Vermont inn, Dick Loudon  (Bob Newhart) is hit by a golf ball and wakes up as Dr. Bob Hartley from The Bob Newhart Show (1972–1978), next to his wife Emily (Suzanne Pleshette), revealing the entire series was a dream.   The Office - “Finale” (NBC, May 16, 2013) One year later, Dunder Mifflin employees past and present reunite for a panel discussion about the documentary and to attend Dwight and Angela's wedding. The episode features cameos and wraps up several character storylines, with characters attending the wedding and reflecting on their lives and experience. Pretty much everyone gets a happy ending - “That's what she said.” Asian Jim - The Office US Cheers – "One for the Road" (NBC, May 20, 1993)   Watched by over 80 million viewers, this 98-minute finale wrapped up the Sam-Diane romance with honesty. Diane (Shelley Long) returns, but instead of a fairy-tale ending, Sam chooses his bar—his true love—over rekindling their relationship. The final line, “Sorry, we're closed,” delivered to a late-night customer, symbolizes the show's end.   Justified - “The Promise” (FX, April 14, 2015) After five seasons of rivalry and dare we say friendship, Justified's sixth and final season saw Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens put his "nemesis" Boyd Crowder behind bars. But that isn't what made the finale so incredible. Aside from giving just about every character a bit of closure, there was one scene that we'll never forget: Raylan sitting across from Boyd in prison as he lies about Ava's death and then, when asked why he traveled long and far to deliver the news in person, he finally admitted the one thing viewers have always known - that Boyd isn't his enemy. Goggins then perfectly delivered the line that said everything about their relationship: "We dug coal together."  The Big Bang Theory – "The Stockholm Syndrome" (CBS, May 16, 2019)  Sheldon and Amy's Nobel win, paired with his heartfelt tribute to his friends, closed the sitcom with sentimentality and growth, though some felt it was overly tidy Friends – "The Last One" (NBC, May 6, 2004)   With 52.5 million viewers, this finale delivered closure for the six friends' arcs. Monica and Chandler move to the suburbs with their twins, Ross and Rachel reunite, and the group leaves Monica's apartment for the last time. It balanced humor, nostalgia, and emotional payoff without overstaying its welcome.    The Good Place – "Whenever You're Ready" (NBC, January 30, 2020)   This philosophical comedy concluded with the characters choosing when to leave their afterlife, reflecting the show's themes of morality and growth. Emotional farewells, especially Eleanor's influence on Chidi, resonated deeply, set against a hopeful yet bittersweet tone.  There is a really  good series twist at the end of season one as well. Which brings up the concept of season ending cliffhangers. Maybe for another show!

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 30th of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 3:7. Jesus says, “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.” I want to speak to you about starting the journey. The best way to start the journey is with Jesus Christ. He will not allow you to get lost. He will not take you on the wrong road. He will make sure that you get to your destination, and He will, most of all, help you to enjoy the journey. I always remember my late mom used to say when we went on holiday, “The best part of the holiday is the journey.” Isn't that true? Now folks, I want to tell you something. In 2014, CUM Books, which is Christian Art Publishers, Chris Johnson, a very dear brother of mine in Christ, we got together and he said to me, “Angus you are an evangelist. You get out there and preach the Gospel and you show people how to start the journey with Jesus, and we will supply a little book that we will give to every single convert or backslidden Christian as a gift from us." He has held to his promise, I am talking for 11 years! Now, if you are listening to this you probably know we have done some very big events, not just mighty men conferences, not just prayer meetings, but huge events in stadiums and Christian Art Publishers have been so faithful. Every time a person gives their life to Christ, they have an opportunity of getting one of these books for free. These wonderful people pay for the printing of that book. Now I picked up one of those books this morning,“Starting the Journey'. It says, “The most important decision that you can ever make”. I made it on 18th February, 1979. Oh, I will never forget it. We are talking on close to 50 years ago. I will never forget that decision. Now this little book will tell you how to start the journey and to go through this life. I would encourage you to get one of these books, but folks, I am going to pray for you because that is the purpose of Thought for the Day. Please pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I want to start the journey which will take me to Heaven. I ask you to forgive me for all my sinful ways and from today onwards, I promise to put You first in my life, and I thank You for walking this road, which is quite tough at times, Lord, for walking this road with me.In Jesus name, Amen.God bless you and keep on with the journey. Home time is sooner and closer than you think.Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 28th of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Genesis 4:6: ”So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?” Then we go to a very special verse in the Bible for me, 1 Timothy 6:6: “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” Remember the prodigal son? The prodigal son came to his father and said, “I want my inheritance.” His dad gave him all the money that was due to him. He went and spent it foolishly on women, wine and song, and he came back as an absolute tramp. He lost everything. His father was so relieved to see him come back. He had a big party organised. He loved him, but the older son who had been working in the field all day, became jealous. Jealousy is a killer. He forgot that his father was going to leave the farm to him (he was the oldest son) and everything that he had, and because his brother was fussed over, he said, “My brother did nothing. He squandered everything we had, and my dad goes and slaughtered the fat ox and has a party, where he won't even give me a goat that I can have a party with my friends." Jealousy - it is ugly, it's distasteful. That is what happened with Cain and Abel. Cain became jealous of Abel, and as we know in the story, eventually, he actually killed his brother. Folks, we need to be so careful. The countenance is what he lost. His father could see it because Cain became resentful, he became distrustful, envious and he became suspicious. Young lady, if you allow that jealousy to get into you, it will destroy you. You will start thinking things that are not even true. Look what happened with Saul, the first king of Israel. He was a handsome man, head and shoulders above any other man in Israel, and when he saw the young shepherd boy, David, succeed, instead of encouraging him, he actually lost his countenance and became a bitter and resentful man. It is like rust in a motorcar. When rust gets into a vehicle, you take it to a panel beater. He doesn't put body filler over the top and cover it over and paint it. No, he takes his cutting torch out and cuts out that piece of rust and he puts new plates in, welds it up and then he paints it over and it's fine. Today, deal with that jealousy in your life. How do we deal with it? By looking to Jesus Christ and He will give you peace. Count your blessings. Look what you have, and the person you are jealous of, love them and pray for them. God will heal you and set you free.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

Nishikawa delivers clear, emotionally resonant performances that leave us in awe, and we find ourselves swaying to his perfectly enunciated lyrics and that unmistakable voice that gives us goosebumps. We shift gears to savor Baekhyun's "Chocolate"—a sultry, jazz-infused R&B track that lives up to its name. The EXO member's solo project showcases his smooth, rich vocals against dreamy production. We focus on the metaphor comparing a potential love interest to chocolate and appreciate how the arrangement mirrors this complexity with subtle electronic flourishes and soulful piano.i-dle (formerly (G)I-dle) brings attitude with "Good Thing,". Thought For Today

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 27th of May, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day. We go straight to the Gospel of John 15:7: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Wow! Now that's powerful. Think about that. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word, “abide”. It means to accept or obey a rule or decision. So if you obey the word of God, if you as a believer do what God has called you to do, and when you go out and about, His word remains in your heart during the day, during the night, when you are about to write an examination, when you are going to start a new job, when you are endeavouring to do something you have never done before, if you keep the word of God in your heart, He says what you desire shall be done for you. Now, that is massive. As I walked into my prayer room early this morning, there was a message for me, and the message came all the way from Northern Ireland, from one of my spiritual sons, and he said, “Dad, Angus, I have just watched the movie, Faith Like Potatoes, and I want to encourage you and thank you for it because of what it means to me.” Now, as a young boy, my desire was to get the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the furthest points of Planet Earth, and I want to sit here and tell you in my little prayer room, that that desire of my heart is actually coming to pass in front of my very eyes and I have nothing to do with it. I just asked the Lord, many, many years ago, “Lord, I want you to use me to send the word to the furthest points of the planet Earth, and He is doing it.Today, if you keep the word of God close to your heart and you stay close to Him, then you are going to ask correctly, and He is going to answer you. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
