Today we're going to be talking about balancing your life when you've got kids and a business to worry about. We discuss what a lot of women may not understand when it comes to having children and going back to work and that some women just can't get themselves to go back right after having a child, while others are forced to go back because of financial reasons. Even still, there are some women that want to be in their job because it brings balance and happiness to their home. The common message we hear is that women need to go back to work and we want to be a voice and a resource to help you to counter this if that's your desire. We talk about what it means to be a mompreneur and doing what you love while also taking care of your family. Having the desire and belief to change your situation 2:38A big realization Rosie had 7:47Rosie's journey as a mum and work 14:10How to know you've made a sacrifice 18:25“A week ago I had read this thing where it said, ‘Wisdom can only come through great sorrow.' And sometimes we have to go through something really difficult to learn the wisdom. So if you think about it with your first child you're probably not going to be the wisest, but as you get your second and your third child, if that's reality, then the wisdom will come, or you look at things differently, maybe you plan things a little bit differently.” 6:38https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/https://www.theirishmummy.com

Sadly, many video production businesses like to use this 10-letter word in their advertising thinking it will help, but it only ever backfires. (If you do not want to attract low quality clients, then whatever you do, avoid using this 10-letter word! - 6:50)The REAL reason prospective clients don't agree to your fees. Sure, sometimes they can't afford your fees, but more times than not, there's another reason why they say no. Hear this common reason why at 7:10How to make mistakes like a pro. That's right, there is a correct way to make mistakes. Think about it. We talk about the benefits of expanding and being available to more than just our native locations. We think about this at Kustomer, this concept of ‘the me’ and the consumer, right? And the consumer wants to be–they don’t want to think of you as an American brand or a British brand, right? Yes you might be, but I don’t want to do business with you in your language. Today, Den reveals the secret to success in business. Hey, did you just scoff? I get it. But please suspend your judgment until you hear at least the first two minutes of this episode, okay? There really is a secret to success, but it ain't glamorous, sexy or exciting, but… it does work.Plus, there are sales and marketing tips aplenty. Here's a sneak peek at what you'll hear:How to "plod" your way to great success using the “Gradatim Ferociter” method. - 0:40Laughably stupid Facebook ads (more like Farcebook ads) that promise unicorns but deliver donkeys. Cunning marketers love to use these types of ads to fill up their online courses and sell their wares. (Why are these ads so prevalent on FB? Well, as the saying goes, there's a sucker born every minute, and a lot of them are clicking on these ads! - 1:00)The "rubbernecking business owner" phenomena. (And... how it's costing business owners their time, focus, and confidence. - 2:00)The foolish - and completely nonsensical - excuse we make to ourselves that stop us from taking the action we know we should take. (Ever put off doing something you know would help your business? If so, there's a good chance you are using this excuse. - 5:10)A surprisingly simple productivity hack to avoid those "pissing in the wind" days at work. - 6:40Why obsessing over the differences between B2B and B2C marketing is silly. - 7:00A mini crash course on online marketing for video freelancers. Starts at 9:10How many times does a prospect need to be exposed to your marketing message before they even think about contacting you? I bet your guess will be way off the mark with this one. Has the idol of “power” captured your focus? An idol is anything or anyone we allow to take the place of God in our lives, anything or anyone we worship, anything or anyone that you serve. We must choose who we will serve: your default will be to serve the idols passed along to you by your family and by your culture. We get rid of idols in three steps: recognize, repent and replace. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally addresses the idol of power.Zechariah 4:6 “‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.”The kingdom of God grows by God’s Spirit, not by our strength. Matthew 20:25-28Christianity will spread when the church is at-your-feet instead of in-your face. Two idols of power we are tempted to serve:THE IDOL OF SUCCESS.Matthew 16:26 God's goal for you is not worldly success but spiritual blessing. Here’s the difference: success is earned by you, blessing is given by God. Success is achieved, blessing is received. When worshipping the God of success, what you have becomes more important than why you’re here. Your possessions overshadow your purpose. When worshipping the God of success, what you do becomes more important than who you are.  How to defeat the idol of success:1. Prioritize obedience over outcome.God doesn’t want your help, He wants your heart—and you give that to him through obedienceMatthew 25:21“Well done, good and faithful servant”For the Christian, obedience is the measure of success. 2. Practice contentment.1 Tim 6:6-8 “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. 8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. THE IDOL OF MONEYIn American culture, affluence equals influence. Matthew 6:241 Timothy 6:9-10How do you know if you worship money? If you’re willing to depart from your convictions to get it. How to defeat the idol of money:1. Practice generosity.Acts 20:35 “You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Generosity is a mindset that assumes just because a resource COMES to me, that doesn’t mean it BELONGS to me.  2. Adopt Heaven’s perspective on resources.Romans 8:32“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else?” If you have Jesus, you already have everything. Is power an idol in your life?

IntroMy dad died in 2014. He was in his 80s and died because of dementia. He forgot how to swallow. Watching him die like that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But because he knew the disease would eventually take him, he prepared himself financially, mentally, physically, relationally and spiritually. And when his brain forgot how to swallow, he started to die. But he knew that the best was yet to come. I realize that talking about God like this can get me canceled. When people don't like what you're saying, they want to just cancel instead of discuss and debate the issues. As a result, it's getting riskier and riskier to speak truth—especially from the Bible. Yet Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney does so in the middle of the pandemic on a world-wide simulcast where he said the following:“The best is not behind us. The best is yet to come, especially for those who know Jesus. I would not be able to do a positive summit and try to speak some hope and positivity if I did not say that because that is what I know. I know true peace and happiness comes from knowing Jesus. Jesus is the hope of the world. Always has been, always will be. The hope of the world is not a vaccine. It is not a politician. It is not some stimulus package. It is not any of those things. The hope of the world comes from knowing Jesus. That is what I believe and that is why I know that the best is yet to come.” -Dabo Swinney https://www.powerofpositivesummit.com/Where does the courage to say that and risk all he's accomplished come from? Are you prepared for the end yet?Bottom line: We must prepare for the end of life and the end of the world the same way: as if living and dying for Christ was worth it. What's a martyr? Martyr = witness. So a Christian martyr is someone willing to be a witness even if it kills them in the process. B. Why were these people martyred? Because they were faithful to the word of God (Proclaim Jesus), and Because they were faithful to the testimony (Embody Jesus).Does your life do these 2 things? C. They want vengeance, justice and vindication. After all, they died for loving God and loving people like Jesus did/does.D. Vengeance is God's job—not ours.E. God's character—holy and true.F. God's method—sovereign and always on time.lG. Future martyrs? Church of Smyrna and us.III. 6th Seal—The End. (6:12-17)A. Common throughout scripture to be cosmic, cataclysmic destruction. Could be literal.Could be symbolic. No less real either way. Goal is to lead people to repent and believe. People would rather die than...B. ...Face God and the wrath of the Lamb.C. The great leveling begins. God's justice and mercy are for all no matter your station or status in life.D. What about you? What are you putting your hope in for your deliverance in the end? Politicians? World leaders? Scientists? Wealthy people? This assassination attempt on the Pope in May 1981 left him severely wounded and with considerable blood loss – his health was never the same again. In July 1981, the perpetrator, Ali Ağca, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Pope John Paul II asked people to pray ‘for my brother Ağca, whom I have sincerely forgiven'.Two years later, he was to take the hand of Ali Ağca, then in prison, and quietly tell him that he had forgiven him for what he had done (even though his would-be killer had not asked for forgiveness). He developed a friendship over the years, meeting Ağca's mother in 1987 and his brother a decade later. In June 2000 Ağca was pardoned by the Italian President at the Pope's request. In February 2005 Ağca sent a letter to the Pope wishing him well. When the Pope died on 2 April 2005, Ağca's brother, Adrian, gave an interview saying that Ağca and his entire family were grieving and that the Pope had been a great friend to them.Pope John Paul II's response of love and mercy is exemplary. God's love and mercy is even more extraordinary because ‘At the cross of Jesus, pardon is complete. She was short, wrinkled, and precious, maybe even a little ornery, like a beautiful, wise old granny. But there is one thing I will never forget – her feet. Her feet were deformed. Each morning I would stare at them. I wondered if she had contracted leprosy. One day a Sister explained, “Her feet are deformed because we get just enough donated shoes for everyone, and Mother does not want anyone to get stuck with the worst pair, so she digs through and finds them. And years of doing that have deformed her feet.” Years of loving her neighbour as herself deformed her feet.'When people are asked about the person whose life they most admire, so often the answer is ‘Mother Teresa'. She made the most of her life. It is a paradox, because her life was a life of self-denial, taking up her cross and following Jesus.Bible in One Year 2021 With Nicky Gumbel: Day 56 • Devotional

Diversity shouldn’t be a trend, it should be a standard. Support for Black Lives Matter has dipped significantly since June, but racial inequality continues to permeate every facet of society—including our workplaces. Exactly six months after the senseless murder of George Floyd, we had the privilege of talking with Karlyn Percil about the racial pandemic we’re still facing, and the state of diversity and equality in the workplace, and what we can do to make businesses more inclusive. Because equitable work is a key to breaking the cycle of oppression, and the right to earn a living in a safe, inclusive workplace is a basic human right. In this episode, we learned how to use emotional intelligence and positive psychology to help create equal opportunities for BIPOC employees, to shift hiring practices and dated work cultures, and to eliminate harmful microaggressions that prevent employees from feeling safe enough to bring their whole selves to work. While it is 100% *our* job as white women to educate ourselves on systemic racism and how to be an anti-racist ally, we’re so grateful that Certified Emotional Intelligence and Neuro-Life Coach Karlyn Percil spent time chatting with us about how to leverage bravery, leadership, empathy and vulnerability to create more equitable and safe workplaces for BIPOC communities. Karlyn has dedicated her career to increasing emotional intelligence in the workforce and helping corporations plan and execute Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies. She’s the CEO of KDPM Consulting, the Founder of SisterTalk Group, and she spreads her infectiously positive and empowering mindset tools on talk shows like CityLine, on CBC and in the pages of Forbes and Refinery29.Listen to our chat with Karlyn to learn more about: The current state of racial diversity in the workplace: 2:05Changes you can make right now to promote inclusivity and diversity at work: 3:00Why corporate “Listening and Learning” sessions are missing the mark, and how to improve them: 15:35The reality of changing “company culture”: 21:39What microaggressions sound like and how to take accountability: 22:30Why you will 100% screw up on your anti-racism journey, and why you should keep going out of your comfort zone: 24:28Using emotional intelligence to examine defensiveness, shame and fear: 30:16How to be a better ally through Karlyn’s LEAP strategy: 31:30The hiring practices that ensure inclusivity and equity: 36:10How to respond to racial injustice and getting “called in” on social media: 51:08Teach Me How To Adult is a podcast that serves up expert interviews, candid experiences and actionable advice on everything you never learned growing up. Customer experience is what differentiates your gym from the rest but you have to ensure that your clients are showing up. When they show up, you offer them the opportunity to get the results they want and this is what customer experience is all about. The main reason why your clients pay you to come to the gym is for you to hold them accountable. They want to get the results but you have to hold them accountable. Now, if they are now showing up, you can’t deliver the results and you can’t hold them accountable. Following them up with calls, emails and messages can easily be pushed aside in favor of other tasks in the gym. We have developed an automated system we use here at Pulse Fitness to follow up with the clients when they don’t show up.Before we automated this system, we used to have the coaches and front desk staff make the calls and send the messages. My mother died almost 10 years ago after a 3 year battle with cancer. She was my family, my world. After her passing,I worried so much about holidays. I wondered where I would go since the majority of my family resides on the East Coast and traveling out that way during any holiday can be a costly endeavor. The holidays were a time I expected to dread. I expected it to be a time of loneliness, a time to remember how much I’d lost, and who was missing.Never have I been so wrong. In the 10 years she’s been gone, I’ve never spent a holiday alone. Since her passing, a countless number of people have opened their homes to me, treating me as if I were a part of their family. I went from not knowing what I would do, to having to try to fit in everyone in one day.Where I expected lack; I was given abundance. To be a guest is quite a humbling experience and a beautiful gift, a true display of Jesus’s love for us. Each time I’m asked to be a part of someone’s holiday, nothing but my presence is expected of me. I am loved, cared for, fed amazing food and included. Their hospitality is truly a gift that I can not repay. However, I can remember to pass it on and so can you.The concept of hospitality is simple: to be welcoming, kind and hospitable to others. No one displays this better than Jesus. Jesus takes us just as we are, tired, broken, sinful and invites us to be with him.Jesus knew who Zaccheus was and how he was viewed by the religious leaders of that time. Tax collectors were seen as conspirators against the Jews because of their ties to Rome. They were associated with greed and sin. Jesus knew all of this, yet He welcomed Zaccheus anyway. Because of Jesus’s love, acceptance and hospitality, Zaccheus repented and was saved. “8 And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:8-10How can you show the gift of hospitality? How can you open your home, work, or heart to someone and show them the love of Jesus today? For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. “The Innovation Olympics can be a transformative program for participants. Many students who have completed the Innovation Olympics say that it’s better than any other academic course or program they have ever taken.” This is the first of three podcasts featuring Ron Jonash, senior partner at the IXL Center and chairman of the board of the Global Innovation Management Institute. We’re excited to have Ron share his insights today on the IXL Innovation Olympics, which he currently leads. The Innovation Olympics is a global 8 week consulting competition that started in 2006. It is co-sponsored by IXL Center and the non-profit Global Innovation Management Institute. In the Innovation Olympics, 5 graduate-student teams tackle a strategic growth challenge that is set by a corporate or non-profit sponsor. There are up to 10 challenges per edition of the Olympics, which are held four times a year. Sponsors get up to 25 new business concepts and 5 mini business plans, along with access to a diverse and highly motivated talent pool. All of this is offered for a small fraction of the cost and time required for a traditional consulting engagement. 3:45 How did the Innovation Olympics begin? 5:15 Clients soon demanded a broader base of competing teams. 5:50 The Olympics soon became a truly international competition and attracted students from a wide array of schools (after it had started as a capstone program at Hult International Business School). 6:00 The program then turned into more like a consulting competition with a novel second phase. The first phase focused on specifying opportunity areas that aligned with clients’ needs; the second phase entailed clients working more closely with students to get closer to an actual implementation of ideas. 9:05 Students love this program because it offers the them real practical experience. 9:25 Clients love the Olympics because the innovation process gets done much more quickly than what is possible at their own companies. 10:10 Now, the Olympics start out with collaboration and then it turns into a competition (which is similar to most successful business innovation programs that companies employ). 12:10 How is the Innovation Olympics different from other innovation platforms? 14:05 What’s the best kind of student for this competition? 15:50 It’s easier to work across silos and disciplines with these student teams (this represents a significant value to the client). 16:10 Teams have software tools and methods to help them cross silos and disciplines. 16:50 Democratizing innovation so people can easily and rapidly work together. 17:05 Establishing common approaches and tools overcomes bickering about what approaches to take. 18:10 GIMI standards and tools are crucial in getting results/solutions in only 8 weeks. 19:00 What are the best kind of companies to participate in the Olympics? 21:10 What has been the impact of the Innovation Olympics on participating students and companies? 24:55 Many graduating students say that it’s better than any academic course or program they have ever taken.
