So, Stephanie opens by asking Lee to unpack traditional nativity scenes. Strobel explains that the common image of Mary and Joseph being turned away by a harsh innkeeper actually stems from a mistranslation. The Greek word "kataluma" is better understood as "guest room" rather than an inn. In first-century Bethlehem, homes often had a main living area with adjacent space for animals, and wealthier homes included a guest room. Mary and Joseph most likely found shelter with relatives who didn't have space in the guest room, so Jesus was born in the main family area, not in a crowded stable. Furthermore, Lee debunks the myth that Bethlehem was bustling with commercial inns; hospitality was so valued in that culture, it would be unthinkable to turn away a pregnant woman.Miracles, by definition, are acts of God that transcend natural laws; if we accept the existence of a Creator, then miracles like the virgin birth become logically possible. So, Lee addresses common skepticism about the virgin birth, referencing Dr. William Lane Craig's journey from doubt to faith. The miracle becomes scientifically plausible when recognizing that if God created the universe and set the laws of nature, creating a Y chromosome is a simple task for Him.Our celebrations are opportunities to focus on generosity and the meaning of Christ's birth rather than being distracted by debates about dates or traditions. In that way, the date of Christmas isn't biblically mandated—early Christians didn't record or celebrate birthdays. December 25th became tradition through a series of theological and historical developments, not pagan theft. Gift-giving echoes the generosity of figures like St. Nicholas, whose story shaped holiday customs such as stocking gifts.Miracles still happen and can be examined with reason and evidence. Prayer remains a powerful connection to God's supernatural work. Lee emphasizes medical documentation, credible witnesses, lack of natural explanation, and a context of prayer as strong criteria for validating miracles. Modern research, such as documented healing events in places like Mozambique and Brazil, shows that miracles often accompany breakthroughs of the gospel.The Holy Spirit continues to work beyond cultural and political barriers, using dreams, visions, and supernatural encounters to reveal Jesus. Lee's book "Seeing the Supernatural" and testimonies from the Middle East reveal how God uses dreams and visions to reach people, especially in closed countries. These experiences often have cross-verification and lead individuals into Christian community.God's promise is not a life free of suffering but a hope of ultimate healing and redemption, both now and in eternity. Last week, admissions decisions rolled out for several top MBA programs including Harvard, Stanford, UPenn / Wharton, MIT / Sloan and Northwestern / Kellogg. This upcoming week, USC / Marshall, Rice / Jones, Texas / McCombs, UNC / Kenan Flagler, Vanderbilt / Owen and Washington / Foster are scheduled to release their Round 1 decisions. The Franciscana dolphin has quite the schnozz. Its beak is longer in relation to the size of its body than that of any other dolphin or whale—up to 15 percent of the animal's total length. The Franciscana has another distinction: It's the only “river dolphin” that doesn't actually live in freshwater rivers. Instead, it lives in saltwater. It's found along the coast of South America, from southern Brazil to central Argentina. It's in bays and estuaries, and up to a few miles out to sea in the Atlantic Ocean. Franciscana dolphins have several other names. The most common is La Plata, for a region of Brazil where it's abundant. The dolphins are among the smallest of all dolphin species—no more than six feet long, and weighing up to a hundred pounds or so. They're grayish brown on top, and lighter underneath. As they age, though, they turn gray-white, so fishermen have given them yet another name: “white ghosts.” That's not just because of their color. Franciscanas move through the water slowly and quietly, perhaps to avoid attracting the attention of killer whales and other predators. But those aren't their greatest threats. Hundreds of the dolphins are caught in fishing nets every year. Coastal pollution, habitat destruction, and other human activities are also problems. So while no one knows the exact population, Franciscanas are listed as “vulnerable”—threatened by people who can't keep their own schnozzes out of the dolphins' business. An international team of researchers have developed a new tool that uses AI to find “whispers” of life locked inside ancient rocks. Using this tool, the researchers, including astrobiologist Michael Wong from Carnegie Science, were able to detect fresh chemical evidence of life in rocks that are 3.3 billion years old. This tool can not only be used to explore the origins of life here on Earth, but also on Mars and other planetary bodies. The work was published in the journal PNAS.

In many Western classrooms, the mobile phone is viewed as the "forbidden fruit", a primary source of distraction that must be banned, confiscated, or locked away in magnetic pouches. Teachers and parents alike are exhausted by the constant battle over "screen time," whilst struggling to engage students in an education system that hasn't evolved in decades. Lectures are often unengaging, leading students to drift away, yet we blame the device rather than the delivery. Is this prohibitive approach a catastrophic mistake? Stephen Hodges warns that Western nations risk being "digitally leapfrogged" by developing economies. In regions like rural Uganda or Brazil, the student's personal mobile is not a toy; it is a lifeline to quality education amidst a massive shortage of qualified teachers. By demonising the technology our children use most, we risk missing "the biggest opportunity in education that we've seen in millennia". Furthermore, focusing solely on restricting minutes creates unnecessary conflict at home, failing to teach the critical self-regulation skills young people desperately need. On today's show, host Esty Dinur is joined by Ojibwe elder, Great Grandmother Mary Lyons, who recaps what happened at the United Nations Climate Conference of Parties (COP 30) in Belém, Brazil last month. The gathering of world leaders and representatives of international organizations happens every year to address the climate crisis. This year, over 50,000 people from 193 nations gathered with at least 5,000 Indigenous participants, who Lyons says were intentionally left out of decision making conversations.  Though the conference was marketed as the Indigenous people's COP, Lyons says that it was difficult for Indigenous leaders to get access to the badges that would give them access to the conferences meetings and negotiations. There was also a large military presence that Lyons says was so different from past events. Lyons and others were trying to send the message that there is great danger to the planet, but “we were met with closed ears.” There were some good outcomes of the COP30, like the land tenure commitment, Brazil's recognition of ten Indigenous territories, and the tropical forest forever facility. These will be good outcomes if they are acted upon.  They also discuss the protection of waters of the Earth, the wealth of decision makers, and the lack of leadership on the climate emergency from the US federal government. Lyons says that she considers all children of the world her grandchildren and is concerned with the future of the whole planet and population.
