[SEGMENT 2-1] Examining debate lies 1 Every aspect of that debate is being examined. And the media is trying to run cover for Harris. I saw a news story were they claim that Haitians are not eating geese and cats. [SEGMENT 2-2] Examining debate lies 2 The fallout from the debate shocked the heck out of the Left. What appeared to be a win for them backfired. People saw more of the dirty underbelly, and they don't like it. ECONOMYKamala Claim: “I am the only person on this stage who has a plan on lifting up the middle class and working people of America. His plan is to…provide a tax cut for billionaires and big corporations.”Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump has pledged to implement “large tax cuts for workers and NO TAX ON TIPS” to bolster the economy by putting more money in the pockets of “average Americans.”UnemploymentKamala Claim: “Donald Trump left us the worst unemployment since the Great Depression.”Fact Check: FalseAt the time of President Trump's departure from office in January 2021, the unemployment rate was 6.4% and trending downward due to the recovery of jobs lost during COVID. Since the Great Depression, many months have seen unemployment greater than 6.4%, including every single month from October 2008 through March 2014.Attack on DemocracyKamala Claim: “Donald Trump left us the worst attack (January 6th) on our democracy since the Civil War.”Fact Check: FalseSince the Civil War, the United States has suffered multiple attacks resulting in far more deaths than the events of January 6th. Notable examples include the attack on Pearl Harbor, which claimed 2,403 lives on December 7th, 1941, and the Oklahoma City bombing, which killed 168 people on April 19th, 1995. However, none were more devastating than the attacks on September 11th, 2001, which claimed nearly 3,000 American lives that day, including 343 members of the FDNY, 37 members of the NYPD, and 23 Port Authority police officers. Ironically, Kamala's erroneous claim came on the eve of the 23rd anniversary of the September 11th attacks.Project 2025Kamala Claim: “What you're going to hear tonight is a detailed, and dangerous plan called Project 2025 that the former President plans on implementing if he were elected again.”Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump has repeatedly stated that he has no involvement with the conservative think tank known as Project 2025.CHINAKamala Claim: “He sold American chips to China to help them improve and modernize their military.”Fact Check: FalseThe Trump administration placed restrictions on selling semiconductor chips to China in May 2019, specifically targeting Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications company.ABORTIONKamala Claim: “Pregnant women who want to carry a pregnancy to term suffering from a miscarriage being denied care in an emergency room because health care providers are afraid they might go to jail.”Fact Check: FalseNo U.S. state has laws that would deny lifesaving treatment to women suffering from a miscarriage.Kamala Claim: “If Donald Trump were elected, he would sign a national abortion ban.”President Trump has repeatedly stated that he would not sign a federal abortion ban, as the issue has been returned to the states following the overturn of Roe v. Wade.Moderator Linsey Davis Claim: “There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it is born.”Fact Check: FalseIn 2019, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into law that legalized abortions up to birth. The bill also removed section 4164 of New York's public health law, which had mandated medical care for any baby born alive during an abortion. Under these new provisions, babies can legally be left to die, or in other words, killed. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, now Kamala Harris's VP choice, implemented the same provision in the North Star State. In other states, such as Virginia, former Governor Ralph Northam stated that infants who survive an abortion “would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired.”False Trump QuotesKamala Claim: “He has openly said he would terminate the Constitution of the United States.”Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump has not stated that he would terminate the U.S. Constitution if reelected.Kamala Claim: “He would weaponize his Department of Justice against his political enemies.”Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump has never indicated that he intends to weaponize his DOJ against political enemies. However, it is worth noting the numerous ties between the Biden-Harris administration and those prosecuting President Trump.Kamala Claim: “He has expressed disdain for members of our military.”Fact Check: FalseThe “suckers and losers” hoax was debunked long ago, even by Trump foe, John Bolton.Kamala Claim: “Let's remember Charlottesville, where the President at the time said there were fine people on both sides (regarding White Supremacists and Neo-Nazis).”Fact Check: FalseEven the left-wing fact checking website snopes has debunked the “Very fine people” hoax.Kamala Claim: “Donald Trump the candidate has said in this election there will be a bloodbath if the outcome of this election is not in his liking.”Fact Check: FalseTrump's words regarding a “bloodbath” were taken out of context. He was metaphorically referring to the economic state of the United States if Kamala wins, not a literal bloodbath among the people, as Kamala portrays. Once again, Snopes clarified this.Kamala Claim: “He wants to be a dictator on day one according to himself.”Fact Check: FalseThe “dictator on day one” comment refers to a sarcastic remark made by President Trump during a town hall, where he was emphasizing how unwavering and adamant he is about closing the southern border and increasing domestic oil production.ENERGYKamala Claim: “I made it very clear back in 2020, I will not ban fracking.”Fact Check: FalseDuring a 2019 town hall with CNN, Kamala Harris stated, “There's no question I'm in favor of banning fracking.”Kamala Claim: “We (the Biden Administration) have had the largest increase in domestic oil production in history.Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump's administration inherited 8.9 million barrels of oil produced per day and increased it to a high of 13 million barrels per day. The Biden-Harris administration took office with 11 million barrels being produced per day and has only increased the amount to 12 million barrels.January 6thKamala Claim: “Trump incited a violent mob to attack our nation's capitol.”Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump told his supporters to “peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard” in regard to their protest of the 2020 election.2020 ELECTIONModerator David Muir Claim: “60 cases in front of many judges, many of them republican said there was no widespread fraud.”Fact Check: FalseNone of Trump's election disputes were ever allowed to be fully presented in court. Instead, as President Trump mentioned during the debate, most were dismissed on the grounds of standing, meaning his claims of election fraud were never litigated, let alone disproven.Kamala Claim: “He attempts to upend the will of the voters in a free and fair election.”Fact Check: FalsePresident Trump did not attempt to upend the will of the voters. Instead, he voiced the concerns shared by millions of Americans about the integrity of the election and pursued all legal and constitutional avenues to dispute the questionable results.FOREIGN POLICYKamala Claim: “Donald Trump is weak and wrong on national security and foreign policy.”Fact Check: FalseDuring his first term in office, President Trump brokered numerous peace deals, most notably the historic Abraham Accords, and successfully pushed other NATO countries to start paying their fair share in defense spending.Kamala Claim: “Dictators and autocrats are rooting for Trump to be president again.”Fact Check: FalseLast week, Russian President Vladimir Putin endorsed Kamala Harris for president.[SEGMENT 2-3] Learning more about the candidates 1 Perhaps because of what I do for a living, I'm extra critical of Donald Trump's performance. I've been pointing out for days now what Trump needed to do in the debate, and seeing him miss opportunity after opportunity was beyond frustrating. But according to a report from Reuters, undecided voters largely shifted to him after the debate. "Kamala Harris was widely seen as dominating Tuesday's presidential debate against Republican former president Donald Trump, but a group of undecided voters remained unconvinced that the Democratic vice president was the better candidate," the outlet reported. Reuters interviewed ten undecided voters before and after a debate. Six of them shifted toward supporting Trump, three leaned toward Harris, and one remained uncertain. That's a rather solid outcome for Trump. "Although the sample size was small, the responses suggested Harris might need to provide more detailed policy proposals to win over voters who have yet to make up their minds," wrote Reuters. It gets worse for Kamala. Five said they found Harris vague during the more than 90-minute debate on how she would improve the U.S. economy and deal with the high cost of living, a top concern for voters. The encounter was particularly important for Harris, with a weekend New York Times/Siena College opinion poll showing that more than a quarter of likely voters feel they do not know enBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

Shoot us a Text.Thursday is upon us and we're breaking down Lithia Motors' strategic layoffs aimed at saving $150 million annually, Virginia's decision to reverse its adoption of California's strict EV standards, as well as IKEA hiring Roblox workers (you read that right).Show Notes with links:Lithia Motors is targeting $150 million in annual savings through strategic layoffs and other employee cost reductions, primarily focusing on U.S. positions.Senior Director of Finance Jardon Jaramillo described the cuts as "very targeted" rather than a broad reduction as he said "We're not announcing a mass layoff.” "These are changes at the store level," and gave examples including taking action on "underperforming general managers."The layoffs are part of a plan to eliminate $250 million in annual selling, general, and administrative expenses.Additional savings will come from reducing inventory and third-party service provider costs.Changes will include leadership adjustments at the store level, targeting underperforming general managers. They will also be laying off 6 of their 13 communications employeesEfforts are also being made to improve storewide adoption of Lithia's online vehicle shopping platform, Driveway. The 60-day plan, launched in May, aims to impact Lithia's financial results significantly in Q3.Virginia's Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the state's withdrawal from California's stringent EV standards, citing a lack of legal obligation and insufficient consumer demand.Virginia initially adopted California's EV standards in 2021 under former Gov. Ralph Northam.Governor Youngkin argues that the government shouldn't dictate vehicle choices, advocating for less strict federal emissions rules.Only 9% of vehicles sold in Virginia in 2023 were electric, reflecting weak consumer demand. The Alliance for Automotive Innovation supports the move, stating that California's EV standards may not suit other states due to varying consumer demand.Environmental groups and Virginia Democrats criticized the move as undemocratic and potentially illegal. The Biden administration has granted automakers more time to comply with federal emissions rules, aiming for over half of new-vehicle sales to be electric by the early 2030s."Virginians deserve the freedom to choose which vehicles best fit the needs of their families and businesses," said Youngkin.IKEA is launching a virtual store in Roblox and will pay players £13.15 or €14.80 per hour to work there. The store, dubbed “The Co-Worker,” will offer immersive career experiences.Players can create virtual homes using IKEA furniture and items.A limited number of players can apply for paid virtual career roles, with applications open from June 3 to June 16, 2024.Applicants must be 18 or older and reside in the UK or Ireland.Chosen applicants will complete virtual interviews and receive an hourly IKEA Co-Worker rateHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Virginia will break ground on several long-awaited rail projects next year and has recently announced funding and construction partners. Virginia's investment in its passenger rail infrastructure aims to reduce chronic traffic, decrease its carbon footprint and catch up to states with a competitive state-run passenger rail service, such as New York and Illinois. The new focus on investment comes after decades of neglect. Flash back to a late March afternoon at Alexandria Station in 2021. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg sits masked on stage as then-Gov. Ralph Northam announces a .7 billion investment in the state's passenger rail over...Article LinkSupport the show

Violent crime is down almost 40 percent since the early 90s. Murder is down 20 percent. Property crime, is down 60 percent, and it's currently at one of the lowest rates ever. Galen Baughman was elated when then-Gov. Ralph Northam reinstated his rights in 2021. Baughman had spent nine years in jail and prison after pleading guilty to nonviolent sexual misconduct involving offenses that occurred in 1997 and 2003, when he was 14 and 19. But when Baughman went to vote in the June 2023 primaries, he was told he'd been removed from the voter rolls — despite voting in several elections since his rights were restored.
That's the sum total of much of today's show. In all seriousness, the GOP social media scene (which is not reality) was on fire all weekend long on stories of infidelity, inappropriate public behavior, and interview answers from Trump on gender and abortion that Stigall tries to handle in a nuanced way. Of course, in 2023 - political nuance is mostly dead. But he soldiers on nevertheless. Plus, a vicious and cold blooded killing in Vegas, John Fetterman further erodes any shred of dignity left in Congress, and Russell Brand is accused of rape all of the sudden. - For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigall Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/ Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPod Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The former Press Secretary came out and said that nobdy supports abortion up to birth. Of course, this is a complete lie. Currently, seven states have no restrictions on abortion. At least two state legislatures have proposed even allowing mothers to let their newborns die. Former Virginia Governor, Ralph Northam, proposed making the newborn baby comfortable, and then deciding if you want to starve her to death. Monstrous. But they will lie and play word games to cover their evil. The world has rarely seen this level of wickedness and cruelty.
Atif Qarni, former Sec. of Education under Governor Ralph Northam, joins the show to discuss Governor Youngkin's latest model policies for how Virginia school systems should treat transgender students. Virginia made headlines when it became the latest state to abolish the death penalty. Sabrina Butler-Smith is the first woman to be exonerated from death row. She says she's living, breathing proof of why the capital punishment should be a thing of the past. Also: Deirdre Enright is probably best known for her work as the founding director of the Innocence Project and her passionate voice on the first season of the hit podcast, Serial. But before all that, she spent decades as a capital defense lawyer. She says she attended one of her clients' executions and it changed her life forever. Later in the show: Since 1976, 17 women have been executed in the United States. Mary Atwell says women facing the death penalty are often subjected to harsher sentencing due to gender bias within the criminal justice system. Plus: In 1951, seven Black men from Martinsville, Virginia were executed for allegedly raping a white woman. Two months ago, Virginia governor Ralph Northam issued pardons to each of the Martinsville 7. Peter Wallenstein says the Martinsville 7 case brings into sharp focus the racial disparities of capital punishment in Virginia.
Teaching Black history in Virginia classrooms today means sprinting through a political minefield. One misstep brings the ire of parents and conservative leaders who say teaching how race has shaped American history is harmful and divisive. Virginia is one of 18 states that limits how teachers can discuss racism in the classroom. Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin made the issue a cornerstone of his election campaign, and his first executive order banned teaching “inherently divisive concepts” in the state's public schools. The order says K through 12 curriculum are subject to a compliance review by top education officials in Virginia. Youngkin even established a short-lived hotline for parents to complain about teachers and lesson plans involving race. Matthan Wilson, who teaches government and African American American history at a high school in Newport News, aims to objectively teach the painful parts of American history, while dodging a political firefight. A 56-year-old Black man, Wilson, was raised in Portsmouth and was bussed to a predominantly white elementary school. As a young student, he began to distrust the history he was being taught, leading him to read independently and question narratives that favored white American exceptionalism. Today, Wilson teaches the African-American history elective. The course was developed in 2020 under former Governor Ralph Northam, following the racial reckoning brought by the Black Lives Matter movement. He helps his students think critically about complexities such as Blacks passing as white during segregation, and the contradiction of the founding fathers owning slaves and advocating for equality under the law. In his classroom, only two students stand for the pledge. Most feel the U.S. government has failed them, having spent their formative years in a society where systemic racism persists, as evidenced by many metrics of inequality. But Wilson sees hope. He's inspired by his student's motivation to learn outside of the classroom, and desire to bring Americans of all races closer in both fellowship and equity. He encourages students to seek balanced perspectives and to challenge the mythos of American history. It's his way of making sure that some of the darker chapters of history are not repeated.. “Understanding your mistakes makes you a better person, Wilson says, “because you say I messed up, which means I can change it.”
Michael was serving a life sentence until one person came to his rescue: his mom. Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin bring us to Culpeper County, Virginia, to tell the story of teenage buddies Eric Weakley and Michael Hash. Local police solved a murder case by coercing Eric into falsely confessing and into falsely implicating his friend Michael as an accomplice. For years, lawyers couldn't get justice for either of them -- until Michael's mom found evidence that blew this case wide open. We are updating this episode with the great news that, with your support, in 2022, Governor Ralph Northam pardoned Eric, and Eric and Michael are finally both officially exonerated, and justice has been served. This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily Newsbrief for Thursday, January 12th, 2022. We’ve got a lot of news to get to folks, so let’s get right to it. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democrats-vote-against-bill-requiring-medical-care-babies-born-alive-abortion-attempt 210 Democrats vote against bill requiring medical care for babies born alive after abortion attempt Nearly every House Democrat on Wednesday voted against legislation that would require immediate medical attention for babies who are born alive after an attempt was made to abort them. The House passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which says any infant born alive after an attempted abortion is a "legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States." Doctors would be required to care for those infants as a "reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive." The bill passed 220-210, and all 210 of the "no" votes came from Democrats. Only one Democrat voted for the bill — Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas — and one other Democrat, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas, voted "present." Following that level of care, doctors would be required admit those infants to a hospital for further care. Any violation of this standard would result in fines and imprisonment for up to five years, or both. Republicans argued on the floor that comments from Virginia’s former Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam are an example of why the law needs to be clarified to protect newborn infants who survive abortions. Northam was talking about third-trimester abortions and appeared to indicate support for delivering babies that might still be alive before taking their life outside the womb. "We all know in 2019, then-Gov. Northam of the state of Virginia stated this: 'The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,'" said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. "The cavalier attitude he displayed towards human life is just wrong," Jordan said. "It is simple. Infants born alive following an abortion are kids, are children. All newborns deserve the same level of care." Nonetheless, Democrats overwhelmingly rejected the bill. Some, like Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., argued that the bill would set up new requirements that would "directly interfere with the doctors’ medical judgment and dictate a medical standard of care that may not be appropriate in all circumstances." He and other Democrats said the requirement to eventually take infants who survive abortion to a hospital may not be in the best interest of the family. Some Democrats said the bill is unnecessary because it is already illegal to kill newborn infants, but Republicans accused Democrats of opposing the legislation to further their radical agenda of abortion on demand. https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2023/01/11/breaking-faa-grounds-all-outbound-domestic-flights-as-system-crashes-n523027 FAA grounds all outbound domestic flights as system crashes; Update: FAA lifts ground stop As of this writing, the FAA has grounded all outbound domestic flights until at least 9 am ET. It comes as the United States sees a surge in illegal immigration across the southern border. “You, President Biden, you are the first president of the United States in a very long time that has not built not even one meter of wall. And that—we thank you for that, sir, although some might not like it—although the conservatives don’t like it,” Lopez Obrador said in a joint press conference. He thanked Biden for maintaining a “relationship of cooperation” with Mexico and for not subjecting Mexicans who “live and work in a very honest fashion” in the United States to harassment. “They’re not suffering raids as it unfortunately used to happen in the past,” the Mexican president added. Lopez Obrador asked Biden to insist that Congress “regularize the migration situations” of millions of Mexicans who have been living in the United States. On Jan. 21, 2021, a day after becoming president, Biden issued an executive order that halted construction of the border wall, commenting that a massive wall spanning the entire southern border is “not a serious policy solution” and a “waste of money.” Between 2017 and 2020, 450 miles of the wall were authorized and built under the Trump administration. In July last year, the Department of Homeland Security announced that the remaining funds, which were allocated for the construction of the wall along the Mexico–U.S. border, would be spent on “environmental remediation and mitigation” as well as for installing cameras, lighting, and detection technology in places where barriers are already built. Under the Biden administration, illegal immigrants entering via the southern border have surged. During fiscal year 2020, there were 458,088 apprehensions. This rose to 1.73 million in fiscal year 2021, a jump of 278 percent, data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) show. During fiscal year 2022, apprehensions rose to 2.3 million. In the first two months of fiscal year 2023, apprehensions exceeded the total apprehensions of fiscal year 2020. According to Steven Kopits with Princeton Policy Advisors, the rise in border crossers is set to continue its upward trend this year as well. Kopits had earlier predicted around 2 million apprehensions for 2021 and 2.3 million for 2022, which is close to the actual numbers. For 2023, Kopits is predicting apprehensions to hit 2.6 million, another record in terms of annual illegal immigration. If Kopits’s projections are true, it would mean that 6.9 million illegal aliens would have been apprehended between 2021 and 2023 under the Biden administration. A network of pro-life pregnancy centers in New York hired private investigators to probe a firebomb attack against a facility last June after what they describe as an inadequate response from federal law enforcement. "They've been responsive, but what they've done we don't know," Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society, told Fox News Digital of the FBI. CompassCare, which has multiple pro-life pregnancy centers in upstate New York, announced last week that it was joining forces with the society, a nonprofit law firm, to hire private investigators to find those behind the incident at their Buffalo office last summer. Vandals reportedly smashed windows and lit fires in the building's reception room and nurses’ office, then defaced the building with "Jane was here" graffiti, an apparent reference to the radical pro-abortion group Jane's Revenge. The pro-life pregnancy center was able to rebuild quickly, but the individuals responsible have not been apprehended. Brejcha, who told Fox News Digital that his own home was targeted last July by "40 to 50 masked, black-clad thugs," said the investigation has expanded to include all 78 of the attacks against pro-life facilities in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned last year. "Along with CompassCare and others, we're looking to investigate connections here," the lawyer explained. "We have security video of attackers. We have license plates. We're pursuing the kind of investigation that lawyers pursue when they're looking to achieve justice on behalf of their clients, civil and criminal. So we're not sitting on our hands just writing letters to the editor about it." In a ruling on January 5, Judge Joseph R. Goodwin of the Southern District of West Virginia said that HB 3293, the Save Women’s Sports Bill, was "constitutionally permissible." The bill defines "girl" and "women" as biologically female for the purpose of secondary school sports and Goodwin found that this was "substantially related to its important interest in providing equal athletic opportunities for females." The law was first introduced in March 2021 but was challenged by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU represented trans-identified male middle school student Becky Pepper-Jackson who was barred from the girls' cross-country team. This, the ACLU argued, was a violation of Pepper-Jackson’s rights under the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause and Title IX, the federal state statute that prohibits sex-based discrimination, reports Fox News. At the time, Goodwin ruled in favor of the ACLU and blocked the law at the preliminary stage, ruling that Pepper-Jackson was being excluded from school sports on the basis of sex making it a Title IX violation. While Goodwin acknowledged in his new decision that the law was seeking to "prevent transgender girls from playing on girls’ sports teams," he highlighted the biological differences between males and females that give males a significant sporting advantage. "While some females may be able to outperform some males, it is generally accepted that, on average, males outperform females athletically because of inherent physical differences between the sexes. This is not an overbroad generalization, but rather a general principle that realistically reflects the average physical differences between the sexes," said the judge. Goodwin also noted that while Pepper-Jackson had taken puberty blockers, not all transgender athletes do. Some only socially transition, while others take blockers and hormones at a later stage in puberty. Goodwin stated that "there is much debate over whether and to what extent hormone therapies after puberty can reduce a transgender girl's athletic advantage over cisgender girls." "The fact is, however, that a transgender girl is biologically male and, barring medical intervention, would undergo male puberty like other biological males. And biological males generally outperform females athletically. The state is permitted to legislate sports rules on this basis because sex, and the physical characteristics that flow from it, are substantially related to athletic performance and fairness in sports," Goodwin ruled. The West Virginia ACLU had filed the lawsuit alleging that banning girls from participating in school sports because they are transgender is unconstitutional. In a 2019 speech, developmental biologist Dr. Emma Hilton demonstrated just how wide the gap between the athletic performance of biological males and females is. "So big is the gap, there are 9000 males between 100m world record holders Usain Bolt and FloJo. So early does the gap emerge, the current female 100m Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson, is slower than the 14-year-old schoolboy record holder," said Hilton. So we're not sitting on our hands just writing letters to the editor about it." Brejcha said they hope to reveal "some of the folks that are behind this," and he is optimistic that they will succeed. https://thepostmillennial.com/biological-males-blocked-from-competing-in-womens-school-sports-in-west-virginia-federal-court?utm_campaign=64487 Biological males blocked from competing in women's school sports in West Virginia: federal court A federal judge in West Virginia has upheld a state law preventing male athletes who identify as female from participating in female school sports. In a ruling on January 5, Judge Joseph R. Last week, Hillis was rushed to the hospital after a swimming incident at a Florida beach. He reportedly rescued his two children who were in danger of drowning in the ocean. Both children were reportedly uninjured in the incident WREG Memphis reporter Otis Kirk reported that he had been told that Hillis is “battling and definitely needs as many prayers as he can get.” He also reported that the former Razorback’s kidneys and lungs were the primary reasons why he was still in the hospital. WREG’s report mentioned that Hillis’ kidneys are now the main concern. Kirk did not reveal who gave him this information or their relationship with Hillis. He played both high school and college football in the state, before embarking on an NFL career that took him to Cleveland, Denver, New York, and Kansas City. While at Arkansas, Hillis was one part of a running back triumvirate comprised of himself, Darren McFadden, and Felix Jones. The report on Hillis’ condition comes just as a prayer vigil was being held in his native Arkansas. Hillis volunteers as an assistant for his son’s football team. Bryant Davis, who is coach and head of the program, was at the vigil and spoke to KSFM-TV. He talked about the importance of community support. “One of the great things about being a body of believers is relationship and community, and it’s about being not only here to pray for people, but it’s also here, Bryant said. “It’s also to be here to support them through times like this.”
Closing out the first year of their Leaning Right and Turning Left podcast, Sadler and the Senator celebrate their 50th episode by looking back on the year that was. In the beginning of 2022, Hermie and Bill were embroiled in (what has turned out to be a totally successful) lawsuit against Governor Northam and Attorney General Mark Herring in a fight for small businesses over government overreach-- so what did these two knuckleheads decide to do? Well first, they started a race team (Sadler/Stanley Racing) in order to highlight short track racing in rural areas and the importance of small businesses in those areas; and then, they started this podcast in order to document their legal fight against the government -- to talk about short track racing and current NASCAR® news -- to explore state and national politics that matter to us all on an honest and open platform --- and even to discuss their mutual passion for professional wrasslin'! I mean, where else can you get all of that content wrapped up in one show? Here, that's where! The boys announce that because of the incredible success of the show, they have been signed for another year, and discuss all the big topics and celebrity guests in the world of politics, wrasslin' and racing that they are going to have on the podcast in 2023. Listen as they discuss today's political climate, the process of candidate nomination in Virginia, and they even discuss what appears to be the casinos' recent “charm offensive” in the media heading into the GA session. And, perhaps most shockingly, Hermie and Bill reveal what may be a new strategy of the Virginia Lottery to screw small business convenience store owners if they have legitimate skill games in their stores. Sadler and Stanley finish up the first segment of the podcast by talking about how Christmas weekend went for their families, a look back on the year that is ending and the one that is to begin, and even discuss their personal New Year's resolutions to start 2023 on the good foot! And then, Hermie Sadler picks his favorite racing interview of the podcast this year, and we play it for you -- NASCAR® LEGEND KYLE PETTY!!! The House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on "The Role of Financial Institutions in the Horrors of Slavery and the Need for Atonement," which could be the final hearing led by Chairwoman Maxine Waters, D-Calif., before Republicans take control of the House in January. William Darity, a professor of public policy at Duke University, said the slave trade was a major contributor to the growth of the U.S. financial sector, and said slavery is why Black families are so far behind White families when it comes to household net worth. Darity said a 2020 study says the average White household net worth is $840,000 higher than net worth for Black families and said bridging that gap would be expensive. "The collective amount required to close the disparity for approximately 40 million black American descendants of persons enslaved in the United States will come to at least $14 trillion," he said in his written testimony. "This is a sum that cannot be met reasonably by private donors or other levels of government." Other witnesses offered ideas on how banks can atone for their participation in the slave trade, which Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, contributed to the vast wealth of U.S. financial institutions that was "built on the backs of enslaved people." Dr. Sarah Federman, associate professor at the University of San Diego’s Kroc School of Peace Studies, said financial institutions today still need to answer for their role in slavery. education would be a "major contribution," along with supporting economic development in Black communities. Dania Francis, assistant professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, said after slavery ended, Black farmers lost farmland that is worth more than $300 billion today. She said financial institutions should fund studies examining the role they played and commit "funding and resources to community development activities in Black communities." Lily Roberts, acting vice president of the Inclusive Economy Center for American Progress, said banks should eliminate wage disparities between Black and White workers and create "programs to redress past wrongs." https://justthenews.com/government/state-houses/hawaii-activates-national-guard-mauna-loa-eruption-lava-overflows Hawaii activates National Guard as Mauna Loa lava nears major highway, pockets of natural gas The continuing flow of lava from the eruption roughly nine days ago from Hawaii's Mauna Loa volcano has now forced the island state to activate its National Guard. The state's emergency management said Monday that 20 Hawaii National Guard service members were put on active duty to assist with traffic control and other roles in response to the Nov. 27 eruption. The Interior Department said lava flow is now just roughly two miles away from a major highway known as Saddle Road. "There continued to be several small overflows from main channels recorded over the past day," the federal agency said Monday. Officials previously said the volcano would likely be confined. Lava advanced Monday at a rate of about 20 feet per hour. "Though the advance rate has slowed over the past several days, the lava flow remains active with a continuous supply," the federal department also said. Lava advance rates "may be highly variable" over the next several weeks, according to officials. Authorities warned that lava may flow into vegetated areas and create secondary fires or even cause methane explosions by igniting underground natural gas pockets. Residents are urged to take precautions against volcanic glass fragments, which are being blown hundreds of meters away from the eruption. https://thepostmillennial.com/breaking-aoc-is-under-house-ethics-investigation?utm_campaign=64487 AOC under investigation by House Ethics Committee New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is under a House Ethics investigation, a statement from the Ethics Committee revealed on Wednesday. "The Acting Chairwoman and Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics have jointly decided to extend the matter regarding Representative Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez, which was transmitted to the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022," the letter states. The acting chairwoman is Democrat Susan Wild (D) and the acting Ranking member is Michael Guest (R). It also states that the "fact of a referral or an extension and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee." The statement does not reveal why Ocasio Cortez is under investigation. The New York congresswoman has faced ethics complaints with the Office of Congressional Ethics over allegations that she illegally funneled cash through a PAC to her boyfriend, the Washington Examiner reported. "This Complaint alleges Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez improperly converted U.S. House resources to her non-official, personal use by obtaining an official ‘@mail.house.gov’ e-mail address for her boyfriend, despite the fact he was not employed by her congressional office,” that complaint, from March of 2019, read. “Moreover, it appears she obtained the e-mail address for him by falsely designating him a ‘staff’ member." AOC was also hit with an ethics complaint after she accepted a free ticket for the Met Gala in September of 2021. Glenn Youngkin announced on Tuesday his plans to pay back the people and businesses who were fined by the state for violating Covid lockdown policies put in place by his predecessor, Democratic former Gov. Ralph Northam. In an executive order, Youngkin commanded all state enforcement agencies, boards, and commissions, to report the fines and disciplinary actions they imposed upon those individuals and entities. According to an official statement, a reimbursement process is in the works for his upcoming budget proposal. The governor also announced he will direct agencies to cease any further collection and enforcement of any lockdown-related fines, fees, or suspensions. "I am today requiring a statewide review of Covid-19-related penalties imposed by the Northam administration. The fact that businesses are still dealing with Covid-19 related penalties and fines is infuriating. Livelihoods are on the line," said Youngkin. "In the previous administration, we saw our government shut down businesses, close our schools, and separate us from each other. While we can't undo the damage done during the Northam administration, we are taking action going forward to end COVID-era draconian overreach." The governor's office statement added that the fine reimbursements will not apply to instances where the violation was in relation to practices "intended to protect the health and safety of individuals, patients, residents, and staff of hospitals, nursing homes, certified nursing facilities, hospices, or assisted living facilities." "We are tired of this nonsense," he says. "Robbery, drug trafficking, hanging around, gangs. They are forcing us to hire the security, high-level security, state level." Following the theft of his ATM by a group of vandals, as well has the repeated vandalism of his car, Patel finally felt the need to hire security. According to ABC7 News, crime in Philadelphia has risen quite significantly in the last few years, with firearm robberies at gas stations in particular having tripled. As of now, documents of what action took place to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story are in the hands of journalists Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss. The first round of files were revealed on Friday, with Taibbi providing a "Supplemental" on Tuesday. Dorsey said in his tweet: "If the goal is transparency to build trust, why not just release everything without filter and let people judge for themselves? Including all discussions around current and future actions? Make everything public now. #TwitterFiles" Several revelations have been made so far, with several chat logs being made public. The names of key players have been revealed, including former Trust and Safety Chief Yoel Roth, the recently fired Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker, and former head of legal, policy, and trust Vijaya Gadde. Taibbi's first thread on the Twitter files states explicitly that the vast amount of censorship was done "without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey," and that situation was difficult to manage after Dorsey became involved. In November, Musk revealed that Twitter has interfered with elections. It was in response to a report from Reuters about Twitter's move to free speech under Musk, he replied that "The obvious reality, as long-time users know, is that Twitter has failed in trust & safety for a very long time and has interfered in elections. Twitter 2.0 will be far more effective, transparent and even-handed."

The American Accountability Foundation's Thomas Jones wrote in an ethics complaint that AOC broke House rules by accepting "an impermissible gift" https://thepostmillennial.com/glenn-youngkin-moves-to-reimburse-fines-for-violating-covid-lockdown-restrictions?utm_campaign=64487 Glenn Youngkin moves to reimburse fines for violating Covid lockdown restrictions Republican Virginia Gov. While we can't undo the damage done during the Northam administration, we are taking action going forward to end COVID-era draconian overreach." The governor's office statement added that the fine reimbursements will not apply to instances where the violation was in relation to practices "intended to protect the health and safety of individuals, patients, residents, and staff of hospitals, nursing homes, certified nursing facilities, hospices, or assisted living facilities." It's been 10 months since former Governor Ralph Northam handed over the keys to the Executive Mansion to Glenn Youngkin. A new book by former Virginian-Pilot reporter Margaret Edds takes a deeper look at Northam's tenure. Edds' book focuses on how the discovery of a racist photo on Northam's medical school yearbook page nearly cost him his job — but, instead, led to an unusual rebound. VPM News reporter Ben Paviour spoke to Edds about the book.

Episode Notes You're listening to this show thanks to high speed internet. And as awesome as this podcast may be, there's a whole lot more that makes high speed internet indispensable for modern life. During the pandemic, school, work, health, and social life all moved online. Access to the internet was, and still is, a must. That made life awfully challenging for families where high-speed internet was not available. Some good news on this podcast, for once! The 2021 Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act allotted $65 billion dollars to expand internet access across the country. That's through a program called Broadband Equity Access and Deployment, or BEAD. In this nationwide push, Virginia has emerged as a leader. Our commonwealth was prioritizing broadband access way before BEAD. As governor, Ralph Northam set a goal to get all Virginia communities online by 2024, and that has been continued by Glenn Youngkin. As other states receive BEAD funding, experts are advising to follow Virginia's footsteps. To help us understand what Virginia's doing right, we talk with Christopher Ali, Professor of Telecommunications at Penn State University, and Dr. Tamarah Holmes, Director of Broadband at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Find out more on our prior episode on broadband expansion.

Episode Notes Virginia is home to four of the ten richest counties in America -- all in Northern Virginia. Virginia is also home to some of the most economically distressed counties in America -- all in Southwest Virginia. And of all fifty states, Virginia has the largest gap between the minimum wage and the bare minimum needed to support a family of four. That's according to the Commission Examining Racial Inequity in Virginia Law, set up during Ralph Northam's administration back in 2019. The commission released three reports covering the consequences of structural racism in Virginia. Later in the show, we sit down with the Vice-Chair of the commission, Andrew Block. He'll share what they found and what progress has been made since. But first we talk with sociologist Lawrence Eppard. He co-authored the 2021 study, “Social and Economic Costs of Inequality in the State of Virginia.” Turns out there are big disparities in social mobility across Virginia. Which is to say... in some counties, it's a lot harder for people born in low-income families to escape poverty. Eppard breaks down what inequality of place looks like... and its consequences. Eppard also hosts the podcast Utterly Moderate, the official podcast of the Connors Forum for a Healthy Democracy. Listen here! The Commission Examining Racial Inequity in Virginia Law released three reports from 2019-2022. This episode provides a behind the scenes look of all the work that has gone into rescuing the Envigo Beagles from a painful life of needless scientific experimentation at the Cumberland Breeding Facility in Virginia, with one of the original “beagle warriors,” John Ramer of Wyoming's Kindness Ranch. Along with Homeward Trail's Sue Bell, Senator Stanley and Hermie, John Ramer did not hesitate to jump into action to save these precious pups. Hear how it all happened from the very beginning, and how the ongoing removal of over 4,000 beagles from the Cumberland facility is progressing. And, hear the wonderful story about Uno, Ramer's beagle that was the first to be loaded on the Kindness Ranch van, and who immediately touched the Ramer family's heart. In Senator Stanley's Leaning Right Moment, Hermie and Bill discuss the unfairness of Biden's student loan bail out for the liberal educational elites, whether Republicans are “semi-facists” as the President claims, and Virginia's Governor's push back on 2021 legislation signed by his predecessor Ralph Northam that will tie Virginia's greenhouse gas emissions to the ridiculous standards of California. Hermie uses his Turning Left Moment to discuss the resumption of the SMART Series at Carteret, and makes a special announcement about the SMART race at Orange County that you won't want to miss.
