Remember, Over the last 14 years, I have done everything I can to help as many #jobseekers as possible via Power Point presentations, documents , speaking engagements and now LinkedIn presentations that LinkedIn promotes for me. I also, whenever possible, scroll down my feed and every time I see a person that is #opentowork, I drop an invite to my next #LinkedInLive event or if I am not having one my #YouTube page that has hundreds of videos and audio events. I know that I have helped thousands of people in some way to get out of the canyon called #Unemployment and back into the job world. I could've charged a lot of money to a lot of people over the years because my stuff works and it works fast if you are someone that goes and attacks challenges. I don't charge people a lot of money because they need their money to eat and pay their rent and provide for their family when they are unemployed because they don't know when that nightmare will end. That is why I don't make it a giant moneymaking endeavor. I do this from the heart because I never forget how bad it felt to be unemployed and how awful every day was until I knew what my next job was. That said, I cannot believe when someone is offered free help from someone who has been doing it for as long as I have that they would ignore my invite and not come to the event. All I will say is here is an invite to my next event and if you are a #jobseeker you should come because something I say will help you to get in next great opportunity. It's different for every person, but something will resonate. With all of the people being mistreated and ghosted and punched in the face on this platform by people who have no interest in helping, I offer all I can give you to help you get back on your feet. On this episode of Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty talks with Jade Arthur, a language & mindset coach who teaches job seekers in gaming how to reclaim joy during the job hunt. Instead of treating joy as a reward after success, Jade explains practical ways to gamify the process, name and dismantle the fears that stall progress, and use precise language to communicate value. Listen to learn how small rituals, creative reframing, and clearer self-branding make candidates more resilient, authentic, and magnetic in interviews and networking. Ideal for mid-career changers, international job seekers, and anyone stuck in career-search anxiety. About the Guest : Jade Arthur is a Language & Mindset Coach for job seekers in the gaming industry. She blends expert English instruction with mindset coaching and is the creator of Job Search Joy, a program that gamifies job-search obstacles into “villains” (e.g., Cover Letter Crusher) to make progress concrete, creative, and sustainable. Key Takeaways: Joy is a practice, not a finish line — cultivate small, repeatable moments of progress during the job search. Reframe the job hunt as a game: name obstacles (villains) so they become actionable problems to solve. Identify the underlying fear driving frustration (rejection, scarcity, uncertainty) and intentionally work through it. Language matters: more specific questions and descriptions reveal unique value and improve self-branding. Joy fuels productivity — energy and authenticity become persuasive qualifications in interviews. Use creativity to convert repetitive tasks into momentum builders that produce micro-wins and resilience. Spotlighting others (helpful posts) expands network goodwill and shows value without asking directly for a job. Distinguish joy from forced positivity; aim for chosen, constructive reframing rather than superficial optimism. For sustained wellbeing, combine practical supports (medication or therapy when needed) with creative strategies. Post-pandemic job searching requires new tools and updated self-presentation — specify your niche and skills. Here's the secret: The most effective job search strategy doesn't live on your LinkedIn profile—it lives in your mindset. How you think about your search shapes how you show up for it. Your inner dialogue, your self-belief, even how you handle the silence between opportunities, all matter. This week, I had the pleasure of talking with fellow career coach Michelle Schafer, who shares practical ways to reset your mindset during the search. When you treat your job search as a growth experience instead of a grind, everything changes. Confidence builds, clarity expands, and opportunities begin to flow your way.

Check out the podcast on Macslist here: (https://www.macslist.org/?post_type=podcasts&p=16359&preview=true) Knowing your values is one of the most important steps you can take in your job search. According to Find Your Dream Job guest Dr. Lucas Moe, your values shape not only the kind of work you'll enjoy but also the environments where you can do your best work. When you're clear about what matters most, it's easier to spot opportunities that fit — and just as importantly, to walk away from roles that don't. In this episode, Dr. Moe explains how to use the Schwartz Human Value Survey to uncover your top values, why focusing on your top three helps define your non-negotiables, and how self-knowledge can guide better career decisions. He also shares how knowing yourself helps you ask better questions in interviews, make more informed career decisions, and ultimately build a career that feels both meaningful and sustainable. On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Michelle Schafer—a two-time restructuring survivor and career coach—to break down a practical playbook for navigating career transitions without burning out. We cover Michelle's three keys to career fulfillment (work that gives you energy, aligned company values, and non-negotiables), how to initiate effective career-development talks with your manager (even if support feels low), and realistic strategies to stabilize your mindset in a tough job market. If you're facing layoffs, quiet quitting, or decision fatigue, this episode gives you actionable, mental-health-aware steps you can use today. About the guest : Michelle Schafer is a career coach with 25+ years across HR, L&D, and community engagement. A two-time restructuring survivor, she's coached nearly 1,000 professionals to pivot into work they actually want, and she's the author of the upcoming Cultivating Career Growth: Navigating Transitions with Purpose (Feb 2025). Key takeaways: The 3 keys to fulfillment: prioritize work that energizes you, company values that match yours (as demonstrated, not just stated), and personal non-negotiables like location flexibility. Energy is data: consistent end-of-day exhaustion signals misalignment—use it as an early warning to course-correct rather than push harder. Values in practice: assess how an organization shows its values with employees, customers, and partners; misalignment drives tension and disengagement. Own your growth: don't wait for annual reviews—book a 30-minute, stand-alone career conversation with an agenda (what you love, what drains you, where you want to grow, the support you need). When leadership isn't supportive:network internally (coffee chats, org charts, warm intros) and treat resistance as a values signal that it may be time to transition. Quiet quitting/quiet cracking: disengagement is a red flag for both employee and organization; psychologically safe dialogue can re-engage—or confirm it's time to move. Mindset in hard markets: job loss impacts mental health; separate hope from “toxic positivity.” Pair supportive self-talk with action (80% networking, 20% applying). The “Something Plan”: when stuck, do five minutes of something (walk, sunlight, read) to rebuild momentum. Take short, intentional breaks from the search and commit to a restart date to avoid losing traction. Check out the podcast on Macslist here: (https://www.macslist.org/?post_type=podcasts&p=16357&preview=true) Generative AI makes it easy to create resumes and cover letters, but it also makes your application sound just like everyone else's. Find Your Dream Job guest Gina Riley says relying on AI alone won't help you stand out in today's market. Instead, she encourages job seekers to focus on storytelling, showing the results you've achieved and the unique value you bring to employers. Gina shares how to use AI wisely, not as a shortcut, but as a support tool for shaping stronger applications and tailoring them to specific roles. She explains why mass applications rarely pay off, why thoughtful customization matters, and why networking and referrals remain important. Last week, we spent five full days together building and fine-tuning your résumé. You now have a marketing document that's designed to get you noticed. But here's the #1 mistake most job seekers make right now… they slow down. They assume the holidays are dead time. They think no one's hiring until January. They coast into the new year. That couldn't be further from the truth. November through February is THE BEST time of year to land a new role. Companies evaluate their budgets. They make sure to spend the current year's budget so they don't lose it. They prepare next year's budgets and identify the resources. Then, they hurry to start recruiting because people aren't teleported on January 2. They panic because employees who didn't get the promotions or raises leave. And then they have more seats to fill. All these employee mobility spikes mean opportunities for you. But only if you're in the game! If you step off the gas now, you're handing those jobs to someone else. That's what I cover in today's podcast… If you'd like to build a great career and lead a rewarding life, check out some of these other places where I share my teachings: 1. Check out the milewalk Academy, my coaching and training site, for freemiums and premiums. 2. I have hundreds of educational and inspirational videos on my YouTube Channel. 3. Plus, I'll teach you how to sharpen your interview skills now, so when the opportunities come (and they will), you're ready to crush them. If you're tired of career advice that keeps you waiting and you want to end the year strong, this is the episode for you. The job search is daunting today, to say the least, and when you're going in with a decade or more of experience, it can be a real confidence-killer, too. Loren Greiff is the founder of PortfolioRocket. She directs her wealth of experience as a recruiter and advertiser to ending “career victimization by elevating, accelerating, and celebrating one executive over 40 at a time.” We talk about how those with significant career experience can reframe and reclaim the job search experience. Check out the podcast on Macslist here: (https://www.macslist.org/?post_type=podcasts&p=16299&preview=true) Perfectionism can quietly hold your job search back. According to Find Your Dream Job guest Tanya Romaniuk, one of the biggest challenges is waiting until everything feels “just right” before taking action. Tanya highlights common pitfalls perfectionists face, including overthinking applications, delaying outreach, and letting fear prevent progress. Her advice is to start small, take imperfect actions, and focus on progress over polish. Tanya suggests flipping the script on your inner critic, practicing interview prep with friends or mentors, and building confidence through experience rather than waiting to feel 100% ready. She also stresses the importance of recognizing when your standards are realistic versus unhelpful. With the right approach, Tanya says that practicing imperfection will build your confidence and skills, and also get you closer to the work that truly fits you.
