*Key news articles for today*Egypt is having to increasingly look to debt to bridge the budget deficit and repay its debt obligations, with the government financing gap in the next fiscal year's draft budget up by over 25% to EGP 3.6 tn. The widening shortfall is attributed to a fall in non-tax revenues coupled with increased social spending. The days of investors trudging from government office to government office to get projects off the ground may soon be over, with the state set to launch its in-the-works online unified licensing platform next month. The exchange rate of the USD against the EGP fell below EGP 51 this week, as US reduced customs duties began to bring out relief for the market. The rebound in the value of the EGP is down to an increase in foreign investment inflows, a senior banking source said. The Deputy Minister of Electricity, revealed that investments in the project to export Egyptian electricity from renewable energy sources will range between USD15 and USD20 billion, adding that the government recently completed preliminary studies for the project and is in the process of conducting detailed and final studies in cooperation with the Emirati company K&K. The number of tourists arriving to Egypt increased by 25% year-on-year during 1Q2025, reaching 3.9 million tourists. The CBE withdrew EGP740.85 billion through the weekly open market auction, with an annual return of 25.5% and for a period of 7 days. ExxonMobil is seeking to sell its only gas discovery in Egypt, Nefertari-1, as it believes the discovery does not fit within its portfolio in terms of the reserves required to begin development and production operations, as it focuses on discoveries with reserves exceeding 4 trillion cubic feet of gas. TMGH (FV: EGP75.00, OW) is in advanced stages of negotiations to develop a mixed-use project on a 14.0 million sqm land plot southwest of Baghdad in Iraq. The project is expected to host around 45k mixed-use units and generate sales of around USD17.0 billion and recurring income of over USD1.5 billion per year upon completion.

A exposição exibe fotos do próprio acervo do museu.

Ramses the Great ruled Egypt more than 3,200 years ago, but he made sure we would still be talking about him today. He ruled for 67 years, probably starting on May 31st (III Season of the Harvest, day 27 to ancient Egyptians) in 1279 BC. He soon set about creating a new capital city in the Nile delta, where he had chariot, weapon and shield factories built. Not long thereafter he defeated the Sherden pirates who were seriously harassing sea traders in the Mediterranean, and “won” the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittites in the largest chariot battle ever fought. He also had enormous temples, obelisks and statues erected all over the New Kingdom, and ordered lots of gold objects. Dozens of those objects are on display until February 12 at the de Young Museum in a state-of-the-art exhibit featuring the greatest collection of Ramses objects and Egyptian jewelry ever to travel to the United States. Along with colossal royal sculpture, the exhibit highlights recently discovered animal mummies and treasures from the royal tombs of Dahshur and Tanis. Visitors can also immerse themselves in multimedia productions that re-create moments from Ramses's life or take a virtual tour of Abu Simbel and Nefertari's tomb. The de Young's ancient art curator, Renée Dreyfus, will share with us the stories of some of these art objects and how the de Young organized this outstanding and rare exhibit. Egyptologist Rita Lucarelli will explain the evolution of the funerary beliefs of ancient Egyptian society from their origins in prehistory to the time of Ramses. She will draw on her scholarly work on the Book of the Dead to discuss the magical texts found in royal and elite tombs and how they compare to the "personal piety" or "popular religion" of the Ramesside period, about which there are many sources to draw upon from that well-documented society. Among those documents is the earliest known peace treaty in world history—between Ramses II and Hattušili III, the Hittite king. It was recorded in two versions―one in Egyptian hieroglyphs and the other in Hittite using a cuneiform script. The two versions are nearly identical, but in the Hittite version the Egyptians are the ones who sue for peace, while in the Egyptian version the Hittites are the ones who sue for peace. Some things never change. The 2018 Women in the Workplace report recently released by McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.Org reports that for every 100 men promoted to manager-level roles, only 79 women moved up into similar roles. The numbers are even more abysmal for women of color, who make up only 17% of entry-level roles and 4% of C-suite positions. Additionally 33% of women—and 41% of black women—do not have access to senior leaders.  What are some of the root causes? Is it JUST about disparity in the workplace or does HOME support systems factor into the equation? Tune in to a powerful #consciousconversation with Nefertari Kirkman-Bey Pross about the unique challenges professional women have when trying to climb the corporate ladder and sustaining a seat at the table. Meet Nefertari --- Nefertari K.B. Pross, is an Attorney, Arts Advocate and Musician. She is a multifaceted woman utilizing all of her talents to consistently create meaningful change in law, arts, and civil and human rights. Her works rests squarely at the intersection of arts and social justice. Currently, as an attorney, Nefertari serves as Senior Equal Opportunity Advisor for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, where she enforces civil rights regulations in housing and mortgage lending. She started her legal career in New York City, and in 2016 joined the Detroit HUD office as a member of HUD’s official response team to the Flint Water Crisis. She also served under the Obama Administration, as the White House Jobs Ambassador to the City of Flint where she worked diligently to increase jobs and summer engagement for young people. Hi, Zengineers! We're heading back in time this week to explore the wondrous and captivating world of ancient Egypt. "Wow, that's terrific," I bet you're saying to yourself. So many people have been consumed by a fascination into the fantasy and reality of Egypt at some point in their lives. I know we've been obsessed many times. This week we're joined by an expert on the subject, Bethany Simpson, a real live Archaeologist and Egyptologist. "Holy moly," you're probably thinking now. "That's incredible. Everything I know about Egypt I learned from Stargate." Well, Bethany is here to set the record straight. Stargates are real ... wait, what? No, they are not? Ok, well, MAYBE they are, but we actually didn't get to them, so we'll have to re-examine that in a later episode. In this episode we discuss a fantastic journey that Bethany led Adam and Brian on through a virtual recreation of Nefertari's tomb the way it looked the day she was buried in it. We discuss this amazing experience, Bethany's lifelong pursuit of uncovering the magic of ancient Egypt and the future of technology in both archaeology and education. It's a great conversation and we're so luck to have met Bethany in VR and in, like, slightly less VR, over the internet and video chat to make this episode happen. We hope you enjoy the conversation. What's up, Zengineers? Welcome back to the laboratory. It's just us this week (no guests), so we've taken the liberty of chasing a bunch of random topics as a throwback to our early episodes. We started the convo with the intention of sharing a super fun experience we recently shared together in Virtual Reality. We took a tour of the ancient Egyptian tomb of Nefertari as it looked the day she was laid to rest. The tour was guided by a professor of Egyptian Archaeology and was one of the most interesting VR experiences either of us have had to date. The sidetrack topic on this episode turned out to be the privatization of the space industry. The exciting news that SpaceX successfully docked its crew capsule to the international space station for the first time, sets the stage for the first private transportation of US Astronauts in the history of humankind. What an an exciting time. Enjoy the excitement of JFK's announcement of the original Space Race to the Moon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouRbkBAOGEw Hope you enjoy the convo. Slovart - Knihy v slovenčine a češtine

Keď v polovici devätnásteho storočia Británia zdvihne zbrane proti Indii, očakáva rýchle a ľahké víťazstvo. No keď anglickí vojaci prídu do kráľovstva Džhánsí, stretnú sa s nečakaným odporom. Kráľovná Lakšmí namiesto toho, aby ticho kapitulovala, postaví dve armády – mužskú a ženskú – a vyrazí do boja, rozhodnutá chrániť svoju krajinu a svoj ľud. Hoci britskému vojsku s lepšou výzbrojou a výcvikom jej vojaci sprvu nenaháňajú strach, Lakšmí odmietne ustúpiť pred impériom, ktoré sa pokúša vziať jej nadovšetko milovanú krajinu. Michelle Moran je americká autorka historických románov. Vo Vydavateľstve SLOVART jej vyšli knihy Nefertiti, Kleopatrina dcéra, Nefertari, Madame Tussaud a Druhá cisárovná.
