As CEO, he's taken SYC from a $400K members profit to a $30M+ balance sheet. Taking this knowledge to the role he has now as CEO of Vinomofo, he uses the core value of love to permeate every aspect.  Paul's quiet but commanding personality shines in this conversation as he delves into some enticing questions around:·      Leadership in the business world today·      The advantage you can teach your kids for the future of business·      His personal life and how that's entwined with how he operates in the business world·      How love is central to the business landscape·      What's made him a better CEO·      What in his childhood led to the type of businessman he is todayMy key takeaways from this conversation with Paul are:·      Refuse & Decide – I refuse to accept that and I decide to do something differently·      Failure is to be looked at as school fees – some are expensive ·      “Love” makes corporates uncomfortable A quote from the conversation that stuck with me: “If you can do it, then do it! If you don't know how, I'll show you. If you can but won't, then go away!” Great books Paul recommends:Of Mice & Men by John Steinbeckhttps://www.amazon.com/Mice-Men-John-Steinbeck/dp/0140177396Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnsonhttps://www.amazon.com.au/Moved-Cheese-Spencer-M-D-Johnson/dp/0091816971 Connect with Paul here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-edginton-5047a511/Thank you for listening, if you enjoyed the episode, please rate the show and write a review that shares with others what you enjoyed the most.   We love hearing from you so please drop us an email hello@kristianlivolsi.com.au Don't forget to Subscribe to this channel for updates and future podcasts!  If you have any questions about today's podcast or want to get in touch send me a message or book a call here https://businessgrowthmindset.com/ Follow me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kristianlivolsi LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristianlivolsi/ Twitter:  https://twitter.com/kristianlivolsi  #KristialLivolsi #Podcast #BusinessGrowth #GrowYourBusiness #GrowthMindset #TrustedAdvisor #BusinessOwners #Success #BusinessCoach #BusinessTips #startup #entrepreneur   If you know any Top Achievers that we should have on the show get in touch with us at podcast@businessgrowthminset.com.au

Top Tips in Finding the Balance of Work and Personal Life with Nikki Govan : EP 4Spinning the plates, fitting in all that life throws at us and then add on top, being a business owner and Chair of many Boards, Nikki Govan shares her secrets to staying sane and thriving. Women tend to take on many roles and through Nikki's life experience, heroes and mentors, and a relentless strength of being a people person, she divulges her secrets! Some of the questions we explore are:• How do you spin the plates?• How do we fit it all in?• Who is Nikki and what does she stand for?• Why she dislikes the word “busy”• Nikki's feelings on “quotas” when filling roles in business and on boards• Her challenges and how she overcame them• Habits that have made her successful• Nikki's Top 3 LessonsNikki has come from a family business background, and this has driven her throughout her life. Although Nikki wasn't a studious student and spent more time in trouble at school, she found her strength of being a people person from a young age. This strength had her pursuing a career in Tourism which then led her to Committees, Boards and eventually Chairing those boards. Owning The Star of Greece was a joint venture with her partner Doug, and this presented many challenges along the way. Today, it is a very successful restaurant with the expansion of the business currently occurring. The challenges it took to become a mother to a beautiful young daughter had her looking at life differently. This is where Nikki discovered that stress can have a major impact on your body. My key takeaways from this conversation with Nikki are:• Have as a foundation; “Think First Who, Then What” (Jim Collins)• Never show up with just the problem, come with a solution too• Always hire for skills and then allow diversity to come togetherA great book recommendation Nikki provided:Two Cultures, One Story by Dr. Robert Isaacs https://www.amazon.com.au/Two-Cultures-Story-Robert-Isaacs/dp/1925936074Connect with Nikki here:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/nikki-govan-37b5b222/Current Business & Boards:Star of Greece: https://starofgreece.com.au/Chair/Director - Business SAChair – Adelaide Economic Development Agency (City of Adelaide)Chair – Work Health & Safety and Worker's Compensation Committee (Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry)Chair -  Tourism, Retail, Hospitality Services Industry Skills Council (Department of Innovation & Skills)Thank you for listening, if you enjoyed the episode please rate the show and write a review that shares with others what you enjoyed the most. We love hearing from you so please drop us an email hello@kristianlivolsi.com.au Don't forget to Subscribe to this channel for updates and future podcasts! If you have any questions about today's podcast or want to get in touch send me a message or book a call here https://businessgrowthmindset.com/Follow me onFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/kristianlivo...LinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/in/kristianli...Twitter:  https://twitter.com/kristianlivolsi#KristialLivolsi #Podcast #BusinessGrowth #GrowYourBusiness #GrowthMindset #TrustedAdvisor #BusinessOwners #Success #BusinessCoach #BusinessTips #startup #entrepreneur #restauranteur  #smallbusiness #boardsittingIf you know any Top Achievers that we should have on the show get in touch with us at podcast@businessgrowthmindset.com.au

Dr. Chris Friesen, Ph.D. is a psychologist who has always been fascinated by what makes people successful. He is a licensed clinical, forensic, and neuropsychologist that now primarily helps professional, national/Olympic, and up-and-coming elite athletes, as well as other high achievers such as professionals, entrepreneurs, executives, academics, and writers, achieve their personal and professional potential. He is the author of “Achieve: Find Out Who You Are, What You Really Want, And How To Make It Happen” Favorite Success Quote “He who has a why can bear almost any how” ~Fredrich Nietzche Key Points 1. You Must Have a Strong Why  If you want to succeed in any area of life, you need to have a powerful why to back up your goals. With a strong enough why, you can push through any challenge, overcome any obstacle, and succeed at any endeavor you set your mind to. However, if you do not have a strong reason for achieving your goals, your hopes and dreams will be relegated to “someday” and never achieved. 2. You Have to Know Yourself  One of the most important aspects of success is self-knowledge. If you do not understand what makes you tick and how you can operate at optimal levels, you will constantly be in an internal battle with yourself. You need to have a deep understanding of your personality and your character so that you can design a lifestyle around yourself and how you work best instead of living a lifestyle designed someone else. 3. You Need to Know What You Value Once you understand who you are in terms of your personality tendencies, the next step is to understand your values. You can be highly invested in a career that is perfect for your personality but completely incongruent with your values and you will be miserable. Take some time and figure out what is truly important to you. Do you value family, freedom, financial success, happiness, or your social life? Once you know what you value, your decision making will become automatic and you can easily understand what you need to do to live the most fulfilling life possible. 4. Your Personality is Not Set in Stone Just because you have a certain personality type does not mean that you cannot make changes to live a life more congruent with your goals. Your personality is roughly 50% genetic and 50% experiential. This means that if you expose yourself to the right situations you can change your psychology to work for you instead of against you. An introvert can become an extrovert, an undisciplined person can become disciplined, someone who does not handle stress well can learn to become calm in intense situations. You have to approach your personality intentionally and understand that you can make any change you want with enough time and effort. 5. You Need to Expose Yourself to Stress to Succeed  Life can be hard. Whether you are relentlessly pursuing your goals or sitting back and watching your life fly by, you will still be exposed to stress and challenges. However, this is a good thing! The more difficult the life you live, the stronger you will become and the more you will be able to accomplish. But you have to put yourself in situations that will stretch you and force you to adapt. Get out of your comfort zone and be willing to face challenges you aren’t sure you can overcome.
