Focusing on how to navigate the paradigm shift we're in and evolve your business when SO much might feel uncertain - that can definitely bring up Your Stuff. Feeling all of this - I was guided to facilitate a Reiki healing for you today to shift out of a space of feeling uncertain into the energy of certainty. We can know exactly what we need to do in our businesses and at this time that answer might be: evolve your business to better meet the needs of your clients in today's energies. But just KNOWING what to do is NOT the same as doing it. Instead of going ahead and making changes - you might feel stuck, triggered, lost, confused, overwhelmed - unable to take much effective action at all. This is where I see healing work to become essential in supporting you in your business. Deeper than working on your mindset, energy healing work can really support you to come back into your authentic power so you can feel clearer and more objective, make better decisions and then take aligned actions.Join me for this short Reiki healing and let the magic unfold. After you've shifted your energy - that's when you can make better decisions about your next steps. Here are two options to support you in taking those steps:Income Increase Workshop - I'm running this low-cost workshop on Wednesday 12th June at 2:30pm Melbourne/Sydney time. This is for you if you're feeling a bit stuck, want some quick wins and to move into action and the price point is super supportive if you're keeping a tight eye on your expenses. We'll then look at how you might refine or create an offer based on your framework - and communicate that with your clients. Of course we'll do some healing work too if that's what's needed to get you clear. Amy starts off with '4 Things Gratitude' sharing with you 4 things she's currently thankful for & hopefully through her gratitude you'll learn about some things to check out & then she shares some words of wisdom from Ally Fallon that will lead living life with more purpose & confidence.    FIRST THING: She's selling her house & here's the YouTube video she references "Declutter Your Home: The Ultimate Guide to Selling Fast | How to Get Rid of Your Stuff." (this is helpful for anyone...not just if you're selling your home!)    SECOND THING: Amy changed the energy of her home to an 8. What does that mean?? Well, read this Address Numerology blog that Amanda wrote and listen to this episode where Amanda told Amy about why she needs to change her home from a 2 to an 8 and it will all make more sense!    THIRD THING: Amy has felt so pulled together lately thanks to her new Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott jewelry. All of the pieces are so cute, cowgirl vibes & ranch inspired because 'country is cool again!' Girls trip to Austin anytime soon? Go by the Yellow Rose store hat bar and get custom hats to always remember the trip....so fun!    FOURTH THING: Ally Fallon's book launch party was on Tuesday night, so Write Your Story: A Simple Framework to Understand Yourself, Your Story, and Your Purpose in the World is officially out in the world and ready for people to read. Donald Miller read his forward for the book at the party and I loved his opening lines: "Years ago, I met a psychologist who gave me some advice about choosing friends. She said this: 'choose people who have a story to tell, rather than those who tell stories.'" Such a good quote. Ally feels strongly that writing our stories helps us understand ourselves so we can live with more purpose and confidence.    FUN FACT: Ally's Write Your Story Podcast is on Amy's network, so she's highlighting an episode that Ally put up last month that further dives into why writing our stories is so helpful....even if we never plan on anyone else reading it. This is such a good listen If you feel like you're telling the same story over and over again....like the details may change (new boss, new partner, new hometown) but the cycle of the story keepings repeating itself.    HOSTS: Amy Brown // RadioAmy.com // @RadioAmySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hey hey! We're back with our second episode that we recorded at this year's GDC, and it's a doozy! In a switch from how we normally do things, we brought a grab bag of simple questions to the conference and hit up people who were free, and so y'all get to see how everyone's answers differed. In our first group, we had Ben Starr (actor, Final Fantasy XVI), Alexa Ray Corriea (senior writer at Cliffhanger Games on Black Panther), Kait Tremblay (narrative director at Soft Rains), and Kelsey Beachum (writer / narrative designer). In our second group (starting at 35:21) we had Adam Dolin (writer), Kate Dollarhyde (senior narrative designer at Obsidian Entertainment), and Kelsie Mhoon (senior narrative designer at Obsidian Entertainment on The Outer Worlds 2). Our third group (starting at 1:19:39) had Emma Kidwell (writer at Firaxis), Nessa Cannon (game writer), and Calliope Ryder (lead producer Weta Workshop on Tales of the Shire). And we closed things out (at 1:47:33) with Chandana Ekanayake (co-founder / creative director of Outerloop Games, and director of Thirsty Suitors). Topics include: hobbies that aren't related to game development, current game of the year, favorite villains / antagonists, a time you messed up and what you learned from it, how you stay positive, games you keep returning to, favorite choice you've ever made in a game, people in this industry who did something nice for you, favorite NPCs, games you're always referencing that nobody else has ever heard of, games that made you think differently about something, first game you played where the story really affected you, what you'd force devs to change during production, games you wish you'd gotten to work on, how to get team members to read documentation, something in your process that saves a ton of time, advice for people wanting to get into game narrative,  and so SO much more it's kinda insane!!!Our Guests on the InternetGroup 1: Ben Starr, Alexa Ray Corriea, Kait Tremblay, Kelsey BeachumGroup 2: Adam Dolin, Kate Dollarhyde (wants you to play Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire), Kelsie Mhoon (wants you to play Jak 2)Group 3: Emma Kidwell (wants you to play Hindsight and Midnight Suns), Nessa Cannon (wants you to wishlist Star Trucker), Calliope Ryder (wants you to wishlist Tales of the Shire)Group 4: Chandana Ekanayake (wants you to play Thirsty Suitors)Stuff We Talked AboutPrince of Persia: The Lost CrownFinal Fantasy VII RebirthDave the DiverChants of SenaarGarden GalaxyAdvent RisingPrey - MooncrashPyre Original SoundtrackLonely Rolling Star - Katamari DamacyAquatic Ambiance - Donkey Kong CountryLiberi Fatali - Final Fantasy VIIITony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 creditsAnna Megill's Game Writing GuidesAdam's LLVTR game writing class is no longer being offered otherwise we'd link it :'[Packing Up the Rest of Your Stuff on the Last Day at Your Old ApartmentDredgeGrowthNina Freeman's GamesFull ThrottleBellatroA Short HikeLong Live the QueenGame Dev StoryOur theme music was composed by Isabella Ness, and our logo was created by Lily Nishita.

Kick Imposter Syndrome To The Curb Part One

The Ridiculously Good Virtual Assistant Show

Have you ever said these things to yourself - or out loud? I'm a fraud Who am I to be doing this What if I get found out I don't know what I'm doing I just got lucky I'm not an expert, I'm not even good at this I have no idea what I'm doing I'm not good enough Everyone else knows what they are doing, except me I can't do this Why does anyone want to hear my opinion on this? Is today the day someone finds me out? This won't last, I better enjoy it now I can't charge someone for this I just want to help people These are all statements that get dumped into the idea of Imposter Syndrome. We feel like we are not good enough to do what we are doing, to charge what we charge, to work with who we work with, to speak out loud about how good we are. It's a real and very common feeling. As a Virtual Assistant, many of us are women who came from secretary-ish roles where someone else was the boss. Someone else got paid more than we did to do the important stuff, and we just looked after their back end stuff. There was always someone higher up than us in every company. So now as a business owner it can be a hard transition to see our own value and to showcase it to others. We are the highest up in our own company and it is a new place for us to be! And we can have feelings of inadequacy - maybe just sometimes, maybe often. Make no mistake, we are qualified to do what we are doing. You are a smart, capable, skilled, educated, experienced professional. So why does it feel like everyone is going to 'find you out' one day and it will all be over? Why is it that you look at others and think 'they have it, they know what they are doing, they are smarter than me'. They aren't any smarter than you. They might look like it on the outside, but how do you know that they aren't feeling the same thing as you? I'm here to tell you that it's not just you. Imposter syndrome is CRAZY common. I found a study on Hubspot that says 82% of people have suffered from it at one point or another. 82%!!! It doesn't discern - women, men, young, old, experienced, brand new. And it even affects people at different stages of their business. If you are growing, you might feel it. If you are struggling, you might feel it. It can cause fear, anxiety, depression, self-sabotage, self-doubt, and a whole host of other icky feelings. It's exactly as Dr. Chan puts it. I'm so aware of all the things I don't know. We focus on what other people know that clients seem to want or need. I am so aware of what some other people know that I don't know - as I'm sure you are too - but that doesn't mean that we need to learn that thing. She also says that there are an awful lot of people out there that think I'm an expert - that think YOU are an expert. And you know what? They are right! So how then, do we kick imposter syndrome to the curb? Well it starts by not being the only person that you talk to every day. For some reason, we seem to think that being a one-woman show means doing everything ourselves. Even though we teach our clients that they need help, we somehow don't think we are supposed to get help. And flying solo definitely impacts how we think of ourselves. As a matter of fact, I found so many ways to help banish imposter syndrome that I am actually going to do this in two part. So here we got with the first few tips! Adjust Your Inner Monologue I came across this quote and I loved it so much I knew it was how I wanted to start off. I wish someone would invent a tape recorder that we could attach to our brains to record everything we tell ourselves. We would realize how important it is to stop this negative self-talk. Ariana Huffington What you say to yourself matters. Keeping an eye on what you are saying out loud is easy - but you also need to be mindful of what you are saying in your head. If you are anything like me, I can look at the clock at 2 pm on any given day and realize I haven't said a word out loud. Just working. No meetings. No words spoken aloud. But boy, let me tell you about the hundreds of conversations I have had in my head! All damn day I talk to myself. And some of it is not kind. We don't do it on purpose, it just happens. I remember reading that it takes the brain hearing 5 positive thoughts to crush a negative one. Five! Our brains are one of the most powerful instruments on earth. If the brain can not think positive on default, how do you suppose you can? It's why the positive thinkers of the world tell you to speak affirmations, or stick up positive post it notes where you can see them daily. Your brain will react to the positivity, but being able to help it along makes a huge difference. It's manifesting without the woowoo! Focus On Your Value What we do comes easily to us, right? I know what I do does. You have heard me say that a business coach of mine used to say what comes easiest to you is what you should be charging the most for. An awesome idea. It is your expertise that you should be selling. But so often we don't recognize the true value of what we are doing for our clients. We think everyone knows how to do what we do. They don't. Not our clients, not even other Virtual Assistants. We are unique, and we know what we are doing. You know what you are doing. If I asked you right not what value your clients get from hiring you, what would you say? So many VAs struggle with this whole concept. They simply can't articulate it. Did you know that if you were creating regular marketing content, the words would come much more easily to you? Think about it. What do you write in your content? How you specifically help your clients. Why it is important for them to get support. How they can work with you and how you make it easy for them to do that. All value! And remember your brain will also hear it when you are creating content like that every day. A super easy way to focus on your value. Create great content! Know Your Stuff That goes hand in hand with the next thing . What do you know how to do? What can you do for your VA clients? Document your expertise. Write it down. Seeing, concretely seeing, what you are capable of in writing helps to reinforce it for you. You can see your skill sets, your expertise, your value. You can't showcase it to others if you don't truly know it yourself. If you have done my skills inventory, you will have done this. Think about every job you have had, every training you have taken, every volunteer opportunity. What have you learned? You know much more than you talk about every day, that I can guarantee you. A lot of VAs think only about their last job or role when coming up with their services. But the list goes way beyond that. Write it down, reinforce for yourself and then tell others about it. Writing it down will also show you the gaps. What don't you know? Learn it. Now that doesn't mean learn social media if you don't have clients yet, it means learn how to se a CRM that your audience is using if you offer executive admin services. Remember we are talking about Imposter syndrome here. Nothing robs your self- confidence more than trying to learn social media, not being totally sure what you are doing, and charging clients for it. Work with what you know already. Your Stuff. Do the best you can at it and shine!! Now, I'm going to leave it here for this week but I have so much more to share with you on this topic of Imposter Syndrome. And I want you to know that I can help you do this stuff in your business. That's literally the reason I am here. To help you become a ridiculously good VA. This is exactly what I help VAs do. My guest this week is Allie Casazza. In this episode, Allie and I discuss how to declutter our lives and environment so we can be happier and healthier. If you are listening to this episode as it airs, the start of the new year is the perfect time to cover this topic, as many of us are looking at our lives—homes, schedule, health, routines, etc. and saying, “Oh my goodness, I need to get things in order”, especially after the holiday hoopla. There is something about the blank slate of a new year that invites us to take a closer look at our environments and habits, and this can be a really good thing for us adults and for our kids. Research shows our physical environment plays a huge role in how we feel and function, and that includes how our kids feel and function too. Let's explore deeper to provide you with practical and doable tips to declutter, where to start, and how to navigate resistance and obstacles! Allie Casazza is on a mission to eradicate the hot mess mom stereotype by empowering other women. She's built a massive audience and a multimillion-dollar online business based on her proven family-oriented approach to minimalism. She's also the host of The Purpose Show, a chart-topping podcast, the creator of multiple online programs and courses, and bestselling author of Declutter Like a Mother and kid's book, Be the Boss of Your Stuff. Do you consider yourself to be a pretty good public speaker? Maybe even a great speaker? It's possible you're getting the job done, but there's always room for improvement. As you'll hear in part four of our four part series with Speaker Sisterhood club leaders and members, today's guest came to our clubs to make small tweaks with an eye on big changes. My guest today is Kathy Vines, a Certified Professional Organizer, owner of Clever Girl Organizing, and certified coach (CTACC) and professional resume writer through Kathy Vines Coaching. On today's show, Kathy describes her desire to go from being a trainer to being a more inspirational speaker through the use of storytelling and audience engagement techniques. She got the chance to test these new skills in her Speaker Sisterhood club before showing up in front of her audience and saw the difference right away. If you want to take your skills to the next level, listen to today's episode and take a look at our new program, Speaker Sisterhood Express. This is our new six-month, accelerated public speaking training program launching next month. Registration closes today at 5pm ET and more information can be found here. More about Kathy: Kathy Vines has been a solopreneur times two since 2013. She is a Certified Professional Organizer and the owner of Clever Girl Organizing, based in Melrose, MA. She works with people to help untangle their relationship to stuff and create the systems to conquer the chaos around them, and these days, she does it all virtually. Kathy is also a certified coach (CTACC) and professional resume writer through Kathy Vines Coaching. She helps Gen X and Older Millennials with their career strategy, LinkedIn presence, and resumes as they navigate what comes next for them in their professional life. She's been bringing her ideas to audiences from the stage and the zoom screen for years. She is the author of the book, “Clever Girl's Guide to Living with Less: Break Free from Your Stuff, Even When Your Head and Heart Get in the Way”. She has appeared regularly in Better Homes and Gardens, Real Simple, the Boston Globe and the Washington Post. She even appeared in a segment about fridge organization on “Inside Edition.” That video has been viewed on YouTube over 2.5 million, though she has no idea why. Kathy loves creating clarity and aha moments for people, whether it is figuring out how they should spend the next 20 years of their career, or the best place to put their keys so they stop losing them, once and for all. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/claim-the-stage-podcast/support

Most of us have experienced a brief power outage at some point but what if the power in your home went out for days, would you be prepared? What about a lockdown and going to the market with empty shelves and no access to things like toilet paper? We've experienced this with the pandemic but are you prepared in case something like that happens again without warning? What about wild fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, or some other natural disaster or emergency situation? If you needed to flee your home, would you be ready to leave safely and with the items you need to survive until the situation is better? Do you know what to have on hand at home or in order to flee? These are some of the questions that get covered in today's interview. In my opinion, this episode is important for everyone and definitely worth your time. Joining us is Kathy Vines, Certified Professional Organizer, who has combined her organizational expertise with emergency preparation tips. She walks us through her 3-part emergency preparedness framework. You will learn so much useful information from this episode! Show notes can be found at thegoodlifecoach.com/163. WE DISCUSS: Emergency Prep for: 1. At home – shelter in place with limited access to supplies and services. 2. Fleeing your home but only for a certain amount of time. For ex. to avoid a hurricane. 3. Fleeing your home when it might be permanent because there are wild fires that destroy your home.  4. Each of these scenarios and how they require different supplies and preparedness. 5. How to approach it without being panicked but being prepared. 6. The importance of having a plan for the household. 7. Ways to mitigate risks. Core list of supplies: Water  2. Food 3. Medications 4. Toilet paper 5. Personal hygiene 6. First aid 7. Pet food 8. In this Episode: If you are dealing with clutter, I have on an expert who is going to help you get your home organized!  Kathy Vines is a Certified Professional Organizer and she shares her best tips for decluttering our homes.  We tackle clothes, papers, memorabilia and the systems + habits that will help you create the peaceful home environment you desire. Key Takeaways: If someone says they are disorganized - they are disorganized in one of three areas: 1. stuff 2.systems or 3. habits The 5 main categories where people struggle: 1. clothes 2. books 3. collections 4. memorabilia 5. paperwork Start your kids at a young age to put things away. Managing the emotional piece with an item.  Just because something is memorable doesn't mean it is important.  You need to assess the value around the importance. Declutter to give a gift to your future self.  Clean the dishes in the sink every night so your future self wakes up to a clean kitchen. Uncover what isn't working so you can create systems to solve for the problems. Paper - you need a system.  Past, Present. Future.  Kathy says to prioritize the current paper over the past paper.  Go through all of the paper and she asks her clients to ask "What is the action I need to take with this piece of paper?"  For example, pay a bill or add something to your calendar like an invite. If you are overwhelmed start with one small space - like a drawer.  Group, like with like.  Start with something unemotional. Questions you can ask: "What does this room need to do for you?"  "How can you make it fully functioning?"  "What do you need to solve for these problems?" Her three best tips:  1. Everything has to have a home. 2. Ask "what does finished look like?" and work backwards to what you need to do to make that happen 3. Notice and beware of how often you say I'll do that "later" - always pick the best choice for "future you" and start now. Yes I’ve stopped caring about consistent episode length so long as we make it over 30 mins and have at least 10 mins of trance. And at the end I am getting progressively drunker and having a hard time explaining how I learn from books and it makes me sound like a huge know-it-all ass when I’m actually just trying to say that maybe I’m actually bad at learning shit from books. Rock Your Retirement Show

Here's a sneak peak at the interview that Kathe did on Hillbilly Nerd Talk.  Hank and Petra talked to me about their own retirement.  During the interview, we wondered if stuff and retirement don't go together.  And, is “Retirement” even the right word? Many Baby Boomers are redefining what they want to do in their later years.  They can be more care free than the generations that came before.  That is, if they have prepared Financially. We talked about the fact that there are two types of Baby Boomer Retirements:  Those who planned financially and those who didn’t.  For those who have the financial resources, their retirement is more like a teenager’s life, but with the ability to do more. Even though the show, Rock Your Retirement, doesn’t specifically discuss finances, it is true that if you are completely financially strapped, you’ll be thinking about putting food on the table and a roof over your head.  We assume that the listeners to Rock Your Retirement have already done some financial planning and that they are looking for different information. We have discussed Stuff and Retirement in the past.  Check out the episode on Downsizing. Stuff and Retirement: We Americans are tied to our STUFF.  We talked about Wendy Holt (episode 9) who moved to Costa Rica.  She gave up all her stuff, along with the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Speaking of stuff…Hank and Petra DO live differently than most of their peers.  Hank drives Elmer, a twelve year old pickup truck.  At ages 47 and 44 they could have “retired” earlier.  Living a less extravagant lifestyle gives you freedom.  Hank said that objects tie us down.  Petra said that they are invigorated by the next phase of their life. Every town in America has storage facilities where we have to store extra stuff. People keep their stuff in their garage, and their cars on the street. Petra brought up that people could probably clear out a bedroom to keep extra stuff in, but we just have so much! Frank brought up “First World Problems”. Imagine trying to explain to a person in Africa or Nigeria how we have a problem in America where we have too much stuff, and we have to rent extra boxes to store it all.   Petra also talked about how you can rent shipping crates to store your stuff in your yard. Just think:  If you die and haven’t gotten rid of it, someone else will have to go through your stuff.  Your stuff will wind up in an Estate Sale.  Frank said that you can retire earlier if you didn’t have so much stuff as you went along.  Again, Stuff and Retirement don't go together. Your STUFF can impede your retirement, and your life! Hank brought up the Maslow theory, that once you reach a basic level of survival, more stuff has zero effect of being happy.  Petra said that when you get to a certain point, there is nothing to strive for.  It even might impede your happiness.  We all agreed that more stuff actually causes less happiness, not more. He also said to be proactive, not only with what to do with your money, but also with what to do with your time.  Hank brought up the fact that he cannot podcast 10 hours a day (although they have a great show, check it out). If you like the Rock Your Retirement show, please tell a friend! That’s the only way we grow, one listener at a time. Listen to Hank and Petra's show, Hillbilly Nerd Talk, HERE.

What do you think when you hear the word "tithe"? A tip for good service? A religious tax? Tithing is one of the most misunderstood aspects of the Christian life-- yet, if Scripture is to be believed, it is one of the onramps to the Real Joy that God intends for his kids. It doesn't make sense. Giving money back to God actually increases my wealth? Yes. In all the ways that money can't buy. You and I are natural-born clutchers. From the moment we come grasping our momma's finger out of the womb, we grab what we can, declare it "Mine!" and hang on tight for dear life. Clutching and grasping is our reflexive response as fallen humans. To freely "let go" of our money and stuff just ain't natural. In fact, to enjoy the freedom of opening our hands to God and others requires a supernatural impulse. Yet, this is exactly what happened according to Paul in 2 Corinthians 8-- God's Spirit stimulated a heartfelt joy in the Macedonian believers causing them to become extravagant givers! Indeed, if we're to truly experience the full joy of God and participate in His mission of extending generosity to others in need, we must learn to loosen our grip on what we have... following the example of Christ as the Macedonians did. Take a look at your hands... and listen in as Pastor Tim discusses the secret of open-handed giving. Part 4 of the message series "Why the Devil Takes MasterCard: Jesus on Money and Your Stuff."

Let's face it: Money is an touchy topic. We're uncomfortable talking about it, and most folks are content to keep it a private, personal matter. Yet, for some reason, the Bible's Author makes a big deal about it-- addressing the issue of money and possessions more than faith and prayer combined! Indeed, Jesus "turned up the heat" when it came to money-- even drawing a direct link to the sincerity of one's salvation. Listen in as Pastor Tim highlights 4 "Fever Breaks"... or ways that Jesus teaches a person is finally freed from the grip of Affluenza. Af-flu-en-za n. 1. The bloated, sluggish and unfulfilled feeling that results from efforts to keep up with the Joneses. 2. An epidemic of stress, overwork, waste and indebtedness caused by dogged pursuit of the American Dream. 3. A spiritual illness that Jesus counsels his followers to avoid at all costs As Westerners, we live in a society of unprecedented affluence, a culture of luxury that teaches us to buy, spend, and consume from early on. Yet Jesus warns his followers "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions" (Luke 12.15). How do we live in a world that says luxury, leisure and consumption are the means to lasting happiness? Listen in as Pastor Tim discusses the Affluenza bug in the message series "Why the Devil Takes MasterCard: Jesus on Money and Your Stuff."
