In today's episode of The Elite Development Podcast I have my good friend Antonio Squillante. This episode has some GOLD for coaches. We often see in the strength and conditioning industry people getting fancy.  Trying to look cool or "different" or come up with new methods.  Antonio, an internationally recognized Strength & Conditioning Coach breaks down exactly what you need as an athlete to truly improve as a coach and as an athlete.  The answer is simple.  Get back to BASICS.As a coach, understand that your athletes goal needs to be to perform in SPORT. Your programming and your coaching needs to reflect that.  As an athlete, understand the same.  Performance in SPORT is the goal.  An exact bodyweight goal and a goal for a ___lbs back squat are not the answer.  Simply being bigger is not going to radically change your performance.  The answer is always consistency.  Consistency in your training, consistency in your nutrition and consistency in your work ethic.  The program does not need to be fancy and you don't need the "latest, greatest" technology.  You need to WORK at it. Part of that work? Rest. To really make the most of your performance in sport, rest is part of the grind.  Make sure that is part of your week always! I really enjoyed this interview breaking down extremely important elements of our job as strength & conditioning coaches but also benefits and important things for athletes to look for within strength and conditioning work as well as strength and conditioning COACHES.  Just because you're sweating hard it doesn't mean that your training is effective. To get in touch with Antonio and dig deeper into the issues we talked about, find him on instagram @antonio_squillantecscsThank you for tuning into the podcast again!
