Catholic Sprouts: Daily Podcast for Catholic Kids

Welcome to the Gospel in a Year on the Catholic Sprouts Podcast. This year we will walk together through all 4 Gospels. The fun officially starts next week. This week we are preparing by discussing what to expect from the Gospel in a Year.   On this episode we discuss how the Gospels were written. We also strive to understand that the Gospels were written to spread the Faith, not to be a history book.   To get the most out of this journey through the Gospels, we suggest you do the following two things to prepare: 1 PRINT THE GOSPEL IN A YEAR NOTEBOOK. It's free and ready for you right here ---> http://catholicsprouts.com/the-gospels-in-a-year-on-the-catholic-sprouts-podcast   2 LOCATE A BIBLE! We will be reading from the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE), so that is the best translation to follow along with for young Catholics. However, if you have older Catholics, it's fun to follow along in another great Catholic translation (we recommend either the Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (RSV-CE) and the New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (NRSV-CE)).   Thank you for joining us! Come Lord Jesus!

Could your child's ADHD, fatigue, or delayed growth actually be low thyroid? In this episode, Dr. Steven Hotze reveals why hypothyroidism isn't just an adult health issue. It can affect children as young as two! He explains how conventional medicine often overlooks thyroid problems by relying too heavily on blood tests and prescribing pharmaceuticals that mask symptoms without addressing the root cause.   Dr. Hotze breaks down how thyroid hormones regulate metabolism, brain function, mood, and overall vitality, and why imbalances can lead to a host of issues, including behavioral changes, poor school performance, menstrual irregularities, and stunted development. He discusses how natural desiccated thyroid, prescribed based on clinical symptoms rather than lab averages, can help restore energy, focus, growth, and quality of life, without resorting to psychotropic drugs or stimulants.   If your child has been diagnosed with ADHD, depression, or anxiety, or simply isn't thriving, there may be an underlying hormonal imbalance. Learn how evaluating and restoring healthy thyroid function can change the course of their health and future!   Watch now and subscribe to our podcasts at www.HotzePodcast.com.   To receive a FREE copy of Dr. Hotze's best-selling book, “Hormones, Health, and Happiness,” call 281-698-8698 and mention this podcast.

On this episode we discuss why the Gospels hold such an important place in our Faith and in the Liturgy of the Mass.   We suggest you do two things to prepare. :one: PRINT THE GOSPEL IN A YEAR NOTEBOOK. It's free and ready for you right here :arrow_right:: http://catholicsprouts.com/the-gospels-in-a-year-on-the-catholic-sprouts-podcast   :two: LOCATE A BIBLE!

Zibby interviews award-winning author Ilana Kurshan about her luminous, heartfelt new book, CHILDREN OF THE BOOK: A Memoir of Reading Together. Ilana shares how reading aloud to her five children—from GOODNIGHT MOON to CHARLOTTE'S WEB—became deeply intertwined with her lifelong practice of reading from the Torah. She reflects on how books create a common family language, forge intimacy, and shift in meaning as we revisit them through different stages of life. She also opens up about raising her children in Jerusalem, the role of literature in calming fears, and how parenthood itself can feel like a sacred journey mirrored in biblical stories.Purchase on Bookshop: https://bit.ly/4oS9KfxShare, rate, & review the podcast, and follow Zibby on Instagram @zibbyowens!JOIN ME! Preparing the Next Generation of Stewards with Sharon Epps

What if the greatest gift you leave your children isn't your money, but your wisdom? As stewards, we often focus on managing God's resources well during our lifetime—but what happens after we're gone? How do we equip the next generation to carry on a legacy of faithful stewardship? Today, Sharon Epps joins us to talk about that.Sharon Epps is the President of Kingdom Advisors, FaithFi's parent organization. Kingdom Advisors serves the broad Christian financial industry by educating and equipping professionals to integrate biblical wisdom and financial expertise.Recognizing God's Design in Our ChildrenAt FaithFi, we frequently emphasize the importance of being faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us. But there's a deeper question to consider: What about the next steward?Proverbs 13:22 tells us, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children.” While an inheritance can be a blessing, without preparation, it can also lead to conflict. That's why we need to think carefully not just about passing on wealth, but also about passing on wisdom. One of the earliest ways to prepare the next steward is to recognize and nurture a child's God-given giftedness. God created us to work, and part of stewardship is discovering how He's uniquely wired us.Each child's journey is unique, and our role as parents is to walk alongside them, offer opportunities, and pray that God will reveal their strengths.Giving Hands-On Money Management OpportunitiesEvery parent knows how painful it is to watch their children make poor choices—especially when it comes to money. But it's so vital that we allow our kids to experience the natural consequences of their decisions.Wisdom grows when kids practice responsibility with real resources. That's why it's a good goal to aim for our children to manage a full spending plan before leaving home, whether that's for college or to move out on their own. Starting with a simple envelope system—give, save, and spend—you can gradually add more categories as the kids grow. By the time they become young adults, they will have managed nearly all of their expenses except housing and insurance. This hands-on approach will ensure that by the time they launch into independence, they will not be starting from scratch.Starting Late? Don't Lose HeartIf you feel behind in teaching your kids about stewardship, give yourself grace. None of us does this perfectly.Start with small steps—a dinner conversation about your own money journey, or letting your child help plan a family purchase. What matters is being intentional and inviting the Lord to guide the process.Preparing the next steward is not a one-time event—it's a journey. Begin with prayer, asking God for wisdom, and do not hesitate to seek help from trusted friends, mentors, or financial professionals. And remember: more is caught than taught. Our children are learning as much from how we live as from what we say. By modeling faithful stewardship in our own lives, we give them the greatest inheritance of all: a life that reflects God's wisdom and trust in His provision. If you're looking for support in preparing your children to be wise stewards, consider working with a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA)—someone who shares your values and can guide you on the journey. Visit FaithFi.com and click “Find a Professional” to get started. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I left an employer five years ago and still have a pension with them. I also have an IRA. My wife and I are deciding whether to roll the pension into an IRA to earn more, or cash it out to pay off debt, such as our vehicles and student loans.I'm turning 62 soon, and my wife and I are both still working. We're debt-free except for our mortgage. Should I start taking Social Security benefits now to invest or pay down the mortgage, or is it wiser to wait?I have a single-family home with approximately $125,000 remaining on the mortgage and sufficient savings to pay it off, which would still leave me with $15,000 in the bank. Dana Sutton Shares Her Latest Children's Book: Maddie Finds Her Place. This is episode 780 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast. Dana Sutton is a tutor, coach, and parent with decades of experience working with children (biological, adopted, and stepchildren) and young adults. She had also worked in preschool, and as a substitute teacher. She is now inspiring young minds with an empowering series of children's books that includes You Can Do Hard Things and Maddie Finds Her Place.  A keen athlete while growing up, she enjoyed playing fastball, ringette, volleyball, hockey, martial arts and skiing (both in water and downhill). While raising her children, she spent evenings tutoring students from primary school to first- and second year post-secondary school, as well as coaching and instructing various sports teams and athletes, including hockey, fastball, slow-pitch softball, martial arts, power skating, and ringette.  She has owned her own business for the past decade, providing consulting, payroll and accounting services for businesses in the Okanagan, Canada.  Sutton earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. Born in Ontario, and raised in Calgary, she has spent most of her adult life in Kelowna, British Columbia.  These days, when she isn't busy with work or grandchildren, Sutton can be found reading a book or riding her motorcycle (an Indian Scout) throughout the Okanagan, where she lives with her husband, Ray and their two Old English Sheepdogs, Guinness and Misty. Guinness, Misty and Bailey (Misty's predecessor) can be found as background characters in many of her children's book stories. Our focus today is Dana's book Maddie Finds Her Place.
