David's life mission is to help others and to make the world a safer place in cybersecurity, which drives him every single day. In this episode… Cybersecurity threats are evolving at an alarming rate, and businesses face an uphill battle in protecting their data and systems. Ransomware attacks, supply chain vulnerabilities, and sophisticated social engineering tactics put organizations at constant risk. At the same time, companies face mounting pressure to protect customer data amid the growing influence of AI-driven misinformation, concerns surrounding platforms like TikTok, and other evolving cyber threats. How can businesses defend themselves proactively? Building a strong cybersecurity program requires leadership, governance, and proactive risk management, not just technology. Many organizations struggle with detecting breaches in real time, making rapid threat detection and response essential. TrustedSec and Binary Defense are helping companies address these challenges by providing expert-led security consulting, penetration testing, and real-time threat monitoring. As cyber threats become more advanced, collaboration between security and privacy teams is essential to building a comprehensive defense strategy. In this episode of She Said Privacy/He Said Security, Jodi and Justin Daniels chat with David Kennedy, Founder and CEO of TrustedSec and Co-founder at Binary Defense, about evolving cybersecurity threats and how businesses can improve their security posture. David talks about the intersection of cybersecurity and privacy, the role of governance in building cybersecurity resilience and protecting data, how AI is shaping cyber threats, and the implications of cyber warfare. He also shares his experience testifying before Congress, explaining why lawmakers struggle to grasp cybersecurity issues. David provides advice on how companies can improve their threat detection and response capabilities and why social media presents a growing risk.

Today is Election Day—at long last. I am exhausted, and I suspect many of you feel the same way. I am in Georgia to cover this important day in history for the PBS News Hour. I'm sure you know by now Georgia is one of the seven swing States where the actual decision will be made on who is our next president. Despite no evidence to support the notion, Donald Trump and his allies have repeatedly questioned the Integrity of the vote tallying process in this country. Georgia became one of the main targets of these so-called election deniers in the wake of the 2020 election. But long before the likes of Mike Lindell and Sidney Powell descended on places like Coffee County to try and steal the presidency from Joe Biden, Donna Curling was raising questions about the security and integrity of the machines that Georgia uses to record and tabulate votes. The lawsuit, now called “Curling v. Rafensperger,” began when Donna had just moved to Georgia and voted on machines made by Diebold, which left no verifiable paper trail of voter intent. She was dismayed by this, eventually leading her and the other plaintiffs to sue the state in 2017 to stop using the machines. The machines that the state bought in 2019 to replace the DREs are so-called Ballot Marking Devices made by Dominion Voting Systems. Curling and her fellow plaintiffs believe these devices are still vulnerable. They have consistently advocated for what computer scientists say is the gold standard for voting: paper and pen. Oh, the irony. So, the suit remains active even as the BMDs do here in Georgia. Hopefully, election deniers will not raise false allegations about the performance of these machines - using them as a way of planting seeds of doubt in the Integrity of the election. As for Donna Curling, she will continue her fight to have Georgia join the 70% of voters in the United States using hand-marked paper ballots. I had a great conversation with her. I hope you enjoy it. #ElectionDay #Democracy #VotingIntegrity #newshour

In this episode, we talk about the Data Divide, which, just like the Digital Divide, has become a social phenomenon that puts underserved and marginalized categories in the unfortunate condition of not taking advance of the Digital Age as they should and could. But pay attention as it is different. So often, when we talk about Data, we discuss the fact that organizations, governments, and companies are taking WAY TOO MUCH DATA, and we need to stop them from doing so. But not all Data is the same. There is the one taken to spy, sell, market everything, and somehow control citizens — depending on where you live and who you are — and there is the “good” data, the one that can help you to stay healthy, get a job, get an education, and overall get you in the societal loop that we all need nowadays to thrive. So, divide, in this case, means that if you are on the wrong side of it, things are getting worst at the same rate that technology gets better. Well, you‘ll get what I mean in this episode of Redefining Society, where we talk about these topics and much more.Tune in, and listen up! _____________________________This Episode's SponsorsBugcrowd

As we continue our journey through honoring our women in payments leaders this month, my next guest is another exceptional individual that does nothing short of inspire. Her name is Lixia Zhu and she is the global head of product for Vynamic Payments at Diebold Nixdorf. For those of you who may not know Diebold Nixdorf is an innovation bank with more than 150 years processing, 22,000 employees and a portfolio that spans 130 countries. They are dominant in both the hardware and software niches, spanning everything from ATMs, POS systems and protective safes to software services for global, retail, and private sector clients. Vynamic Payments, specifically, caters to top tier 1 & 2 global financial institutions. Lixia's role in this company is to define strategy for business and product, oversee daily execution, leverage strategic partnerships, and optimize the go-to-market strategy. As for her background, Lixia grew up in China as the youngest of four daughters during a time when boys were favored, and her country promoted a one child only preference in the home. She will understandably credit her parents as active sources of inspiration for her noteworthy career journey and untappable potential. Not only is she leading a dynamic department in a full-time role, she's also currently in the process of completing her global executive MBA program. Tune in this week to hear Lixia talk about the importance of getting out of your comfort zone as it relates to growth and momentum, her guiding principles of being authentic, open minded, and eager to learn, as well as the one quality she thinks every woman leader should possess in order to be successful in this industry, where women executives are the minority at only 4%. Her story is truly inspiring and her drive is contagious!

#MyInvestingStory showcases the Investing Story of Successful Long-term Investors, who are everyday people. Ann and Ionnie McNeill, are both Lifetime Members and Volunteers of BetterInvesting, a non-profit specializing in Investment Education for Individuals and Investment Clubs. Each week we interview a Special Guest, shining light on their investing story, lessons learned, words of wisdom and resources to aid you in starting your investing journey. Charles Bright is a native of North Brentwood, Maryland. He is married and has 2 Daughters and 2 Grandchildren. Charles Bright began his journey learning about the importance of finances when he had a paper route at the age of 11. His Mother helped him invest by buying savings bonds and told him they would double in 5 years. But, not really understanding the importance at that young age, he cashed them in before their maturity date. In 1996, through a family member, he had the pleasure of meeting a man named Daniel Garnett who gave him a share of Diebold, Incorporated stock and asked if he was interested in learning about stocks and investing. His love for numbers told him to say yes and Mr. Garnett took him under his wing. Mr. Garnett introduced him to the NAIC (now Better Investing) principles that he still utilizes today. His first major project under the tutelage would be to start an investment club. As of today, he has held various positions in the Pinnacle Group Investments and has assisted in starting at least 4 other investment clubs for others. He has taught children beginning at the age of 6 – 14 during summer camps about investing and the importance of saving money. He is passionate about teaching financial literacy and knowledge about investing to people of all ages. He believes that by teaching others the importance of investing and saving, he can pay it forward in the remembrance of Mr. Garnett for all the knowledge that he so freely shared with him. -- Try a 90-day Free Trial with BetterInvesting: https://bit.ly/BI90DayFreeTrial Grab a copy of “The Baby Billionaire's Guide to Investing: Building Wealth at an Early Age” The hashtag for the podcast is #MyInvestingStory Make sure to follow us on Social Media: Facebook: @BetterInvestingSFL Instagram: @BetterInvestingSFL LinkedIn: @BetterInvestingSouthFlorida Twitter: @BI_SEFL
