Hypocrites created by Giovanna Iorio. "I have used the recording of the voice of Oscar Wilde reading “The Ballad of Reading Goal” and Ergo Phizmiz "The Faust Cycle or, The House of Dr Faustus" (2006-2009) to represent the Hypocrisy and its monstrosity. "The very short introduction of my composition is the voice of Oscar Wilde at a fast speed, it sounds like terrible crows awakening the conscience of people. Then there the voice of the poet arises, although the recording is not clear it is, I believe, very moving. "The powerful composition by Ergo Phimiz is, I believe, the perfect sound to create the atmosphere. Although the sound file has been attributed to Wilde in various contexts, it is also debated whether it is genuine or not but it remains the only recording by Oscar Wilde." Part of the Inferno project to imagine and compose the sounds of Dante’s Hell, marking the 700th anniversary of The Divine Comedy. To find out more, visit http://www.citiesandmemory.com/inferno

Welcome to the Against the Law episode 1. In this episode Abi and Grainne discuss some recent legal topics in the news which turns into an conversation about how much police lie in court, the abysmal state of prison health care, the government's constant quest to hack your cellphone, and more. Our main topic is the NY Constitutional Convention. We try and understand why the civil society organizations in one of the most progressive states are dead set on maintaining the surprisingly non-progressive status quo. It's the last week of the gimmick episodes! Don't worry! In this final episode of Kid Tested, Monster Approved; the topic is the king of horror, Stephen King. I made that pun on the show too and I didn't do it on purpose. Frankly, I'm embarrassed. Ruben got to watch "Misery" and Dawn got to watch "Stand By Me." Apparently, there was an 80's movie that had John Cusack in it that Dawn had never seen. Dawn made Ruben edit out a "Mary Kay Laterno" joke he made at the end, that's why it clips a bit. We're back! Sort of... We're using a loaner computer and we very much appreciate it! Don't worry, Ruben explains what happened. He also has a lot of problems with a company that rhymes with Shmell Shmomputers. The theme was "Not scary movies with scary scenes" Dawn watched "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and Ruben watched "Rear Window." Ruben gets embarrassed by Dawn's view of the Indiana Jones franchise. Wanna suggest a theme? Wanna have your business talked about on the show?

Exploring the rabbithole that is new age bullshit. With help from the Firesign Theatre's Everything You Know Is Wrong, Abraham Hicks, Ergo Phizmiz, The Pleiadians, and so much more. Plus a special weather report from Frankie Macdonald of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Thanks to his warning I was prepared for the power outages that plagued my area this week. Also, the first 20 mins of music was made by me. The quantum cycle is overflowing with electromagnetic forces. We exist as ultra-sentient particles. Today, science tells us that the essence of nature is intuition. Illusion is born in the gap where transformation has been excluded. You must take a stand against dogma. Yes, it is possible to confront the things that can exterminate us, but not without aspiration on our side. Where there is dogma, wonder cannot thrive. Humankind has nothing to lose. Our conversations with other beings have led to a refining of ultra-joyous consciousness. Reality has always been overflowing with pilgrims whose hopes are nurtured by conscious living. The totality is approaching a tipping point. If you have never experienced this canopy at the speed of light, it can be difficult to live. Although you may not realize it, you are dynamic. Have you found your vision quest? We must strengthen ourselves and empower others. It is a sign of things to come. We must learn how to lead astral lives in the face of delusion.
Today, we generate data with every mouse click, phone call, and even every breath. This week on State of the Human, you'll hear about how an 18th century historian, a poet, a computer scientist, a composer, and a mysterious future being are all trying to interpret that data to understand something about the human experience. We're asking: what do we learn from seeing ourselves as data? And what is lost in translation? Host: Kate Nelson Producers: Rachel Hamburg, Miles S, Charlie Mintz, Kate Nelson, Rosie La Puma Featuring: Dr. Daniel Rosenberg, Naomi Shihab Nye, Jonathan Berger, Raven Jiang, Alec Glassford Music used during transitions: Aboombong (Drag Along Behind), Chuzausen, Koona (Starkey), Kai Engel Story 1: Straws on the River of Time Description: Joseph Priestley was an 18th Renaissance man who helped discover oxygen. Producers: Jess Peterson and Charlie Mintz Featuring: Dr. Dan Rosenberg Music: Jared C Balogh, Ergo Phizmiz, Dexter Britain, and Circus Marcus. Story 2: Exposed Description: Kyle is on a mission to scrape every last piece of his data off the internet. He’s devoted to navigating cyberspace without leaving a trace - but privacy has a cost. This episode explores the colorful (and sometimes risk-filled) history of pigments and painters, and the conservators who save paintings from the ravages of time and accidental chemistry. First we take an art field trip around Philadelphia as art historian and CHF fellow Elisabeth Berry Drago tries to paint like it's 1699. We visit a butcher shop, a tile store, and an art supply store to try to get what we need. Then we talk to art conservator Mark F. Bockrath and Elisabeth Berry Drago. They tell us about the messy and occasionally dangerous process of making paints from pigments and talk about the transition to using paint from tubes. They also explain the conservation process and tell us why alchemists were so important to painters in early modern times. CREDITS: Hosts: Michal Meyer and Bob Kenworthy Guests: Mark F.
