Day 1,483.Today, as Russia records its highest daily troop losses of the year in its war against Ukraine, we examine how the head of the Russian armed forces, General Valery Gerasimov, is reportedly presenting outdated battlefield information to Vladimir Putin to suggest the situation at the front remains under control. We report on fears that a damaged Russian shadow fleet tanker drifting in the Mediterranean Sea could trigger an environmental disaster of “unprecedented proportions”, and how President Zelensky has shown live battlefield footage from an iPad to the UK Parliament to illustrate the realities of 21st-century warfare. And later, we hear about the Make A Difference Foundation about its work supporting Ukrainian families displaced by Russia's invasion, alongside memories from the First Gulf War with two former tank commanders, including the horror of friendly fire.Contributors:Dominic Nicholls (Host on Ukraine: The Latest). @DomNicholls on X.With thanks to former tank commanders Hamish de Bretton-Gordon and James Hewitt.NOW IN FULL VIDEO WITH MAPS & BATTLEFIELD FOOTAGE:Every episode is now available on our YouTube channel shortly after the release of the audio version. We like we look up to the people who are calm, cool and collected. The people who comport themselves with dignity and nobility and are always in control of themselves. Rage is not a productive attribute. People don't accomplish things when they lose themselves. From a spiritual vantage point, with the worst of the worst: it's adjacent to heresy, and many types of purgatory control those who are always angry. But what's the solution? How does someone control their anger? Is it possible to control completely? Is it possible to eliminate it entirely? The answer, surprisingly, is yes. In this podcast, you will learn the secret of fishing impulses of anger. In this shmooze, delivered at the final Mevaseret Mishmar of the Zman, Rav Burg explores the deeper psychology and spirituality behind that moment. Sometimes endless giving is not abundance, it is the lingering voice of scarcity. The Mishkan was meant to heal the rupture of the Eigel, to remind the Jewish people of a profound truth: בנים אתם לה׳ אלקיכם — you are children of Hashem, no matter what.
Next month, a very special fundraiser will begin in memory of a little girl who touched the hearts of so many. Ronan Flanagan from Ennis is preparing to walk across Ireland — from his home in Ennis to Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin — a journey his family made countless times during his daughter Mia's treatment. Mia was just five years old when she sadly passed away in February last year after battling leukaemia. Through this walk, Miles for Mia, Ronan and his wife Ruth hope to honour her memory while raising vital funds for charities that support children with cancer and their families. Ronan and Ruth joined Alan Morrissey in studio to tell us about Mia, the journey ahead, and why this walk means so much to them. You can donate to the Fundraiser using the link below. https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/ronanflanagan1 Image © Walk to Crumlin In Memory of my daughter Mia Flanagan

Most fundraisers know the Donor Bill of Rights – but what about the Fundraiser's Bill of Rights? It's about the organization behind them. Leadership engagement, board functionality, strategic clarity, data systems, realistic expectations, and culture all shape whether philanthropy can thrive. The real question isn't simply “Can this fundraiser raise money?” but “Is this organization built to support fundraising success?” When those pieces align, philanthropy becomes a shared responsibility — and the mission moves forward.

For nonprofit CEOs, executive directors, and development leaders, the conversation offers practical insight into how strong organizations build fundraising teams that actually produce results.

Welcome to “The Future of Running” podcast on Head Start presented by Brooksee and hosted by Phil Dumontet. In this episode, Phil sits down with Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Events — the organization behind the TCS London Marathon, the UK's biggest street party and the largest single-day fundraising event in the world. From its origin story in 1979 to its place today as one of the most iconic races on the planet, this is a conversation about belief, responsibility, and stewarding something bigger than a start line. What is running's true superpower? How do you deliver an individual, deeply personal experience at massive global scale? And what does it mean to lead a race that belongs not just to runners, but to a city, a country, and a global community? Hugh shares how London balances elite excellence with grassroots inclusivity — and why mental barriers, not physical ones, are often the hardest to break. We also look ahead. Where will the TCS London Marathon be in 2030? In 50 years? As technology advances, will race day become more digital — or more human? A thoughtful conversation on legacy, belief, and what it takes to steward one of the world's most important endurance events into its next era.Send a text
