Who will win the race to bring Freddy back? We break it down. Of course, we have to talk about Tom Holland getting that bag for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Then, we're running through the hottest new trailers, including Michael B. Cyclops Cast, Spider-Man 4 Box Office, and James Gunn Shoots Down Rumors

Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Marvel Studios appears to have found the leader of its new mutant team, as Deadline reported last week that Heartstopper and Warfare star Kit Connor has landed the role of Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, in the future MCU X-Men film. Sources say Connor went through much the same process as Samara Weaving, who was attached as Emma Frost the week prior, meeting with Schreier and Marvel president Kevin Feige alongside a group of candidates who tested after the July 4th holiday before the studio settled on him. Neither Marvel nor Connor has confirmed the casting, and the film, written by Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo, still has no release date. Cyclops has been played on screen before by James Marsden and Tye Sheridan, with Marsden set to reprise the role in December's Avengers: Doomsday. Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed the one-billion-dollar mark overseas in just twelve days of release, making it the second-fastest film ever to reach that number abroad behind Avengers: Endgame. The Destin Daniel Cretton film now stands at $1.67 billion worldwide, split between $654.3 million domestically and $1.013 billion internationally, which makes it the twelfth highest-grossing movie of all time and only the sixteenth ever to clear a billion in foreign markets alone. Universal had a milestone of its own to celebrate, as Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey passed $1.1 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing film of his career ahead of The Dark Knight Rises, while also becoming the biggest IMAX release ever with $289 million, and it still has China to open on Friday. James Gunn spent part of a Threads session last week putting down one of the most persistent rumors surrounding Matt Reeves' Batman trilogy, telling a fan who asked whether The Batman Part III was being filmed simultaneously with Part II simply, “I can deny.” The theory had gained steam over years of delays, most recently when a redesigned Part II logo appeared to work a Roman numeral III into the artwork, and it offered fans a tidy explanation for why the sequel has taken so long to arrive. In reality, Part II only began principal photography in London in June, and Warner Bros. has already pushed the film from October 2027 to February 18, 2028. Sony and Nintendo's live-action The Legend of Zelda has cast Australian actor Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf under a multi-picture deal, with Severance's Dichen Lachman playing Impa and The Handmaid's Tale's Yvonne Strahovski reported as a queen character. The late Sam Neill also filmed an undisclosed role before his death on July 13, marking one of the final screen performances of his career.Gareth Edwards has exited Universal and Amblin's untitled Jurassic World Rebirth sequel over creative differences, with the studios now searching for a replacement; David Koepp's script is finished and Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey are all still expected back for a 2027 shoot.A24 released the full trailer for Primetime, the Lance Oppenheim drama that Robert Pattinson produces and stars in as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, in theaters September 25.Lionsgate has confirmed that Michael 2 is targeting a production start toward the end of this year or in early 2027, with the sequel to this year's Michael Jackson biopic aiming for a 2028 release.Lionsgate is also developing a new Leprechaun film written by horror veterans Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, reviving a franchise that ran eight movies between 1993 and 2018.Nicholas Hoult has been cast in season 2 of HBO's Harry Potter series as Gilderoy Lockhart, a major character in The Chamber of Secrets that was portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 film adaptation.

Five prisoners are kept awake for fifteen days in a sealed chamber — and what the researchers find when they open the door no longer wants to be set free. A blockbuster film series trails a string of real-life deaths its cast can't explain. On the back roads of Maryland, a half-goat figure waits for teenagers who wander too far. And one ordinary night in El Paso, a couple walks out of their home — dishes still in the sink, cat unfed — and is never seen again.EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources): https://weirddarkness.com/russiansleepexperiment/READ or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/3rr9mhjxFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: The Russian Sleep Experiment *** The Poltergeist Film Curse *** The Goat-Man of Maryland *** The Patterson Family Disappearance *** The Legend of the LeprechaunCHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = The Foreboding00:01:06.939 = Show Open00:01:55.409 = The Poltergeist Curse00:06:21.074 = The Goatman of Prince George's County00:14:07.417 = The Lore of the Leprechaun ***00:16:55.345 = Vanishing of the Pattersons00:27:39.437 = The Russian Sleep Experiment ***00:43:05.653 = Show Close*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakLISTEN ON PODCAST APPS: Look for this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, and other podcast apps. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: July 22, 2018Weird Darkness travels from a cursed Hollywood film set to a Maryland goat-monster, the cobbler-fairies of Irish legend, a vanished El Paso couple, and a blood-soaked Soviet sleep laboratory where the test subjects no longer wanted to be set free.It opens with the deaths that shadow the Poltergeist films, beginning with Heather O'Rourke, who played Carol Anne Freeling from the original 1982 release through both sequels and died at twelve in San Diego in February 1986 during surgery for a bowel obstruction later traced to a congenital intestinal flaw. Dominique Dunne, who played older sister Dana Freeling, was strangled in 1982 by John Sweeney outside her Hollywood home, and Sweeney served just three years and seven months. Julian Beck, the gaunt preacher Kane of Poltergeist II, died of stomach cancer in 1983, and Will Sampson, who played the shaman Taylor, died after a heart-lung transplant — four deaths that fed a curse legend later thickened by JoBeth Williams' claim that Steven Spielberg used real human skeletons as cheaper props and by Sampson's own ritual cleansing of the set. From there the episode crosses into Prince George's County, Maryland, where the Goatman has stalked local legend for decades. One origin story sets him at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, a half-man, half-goat creature born from a USDA experiment gone wrong; another makes him a herdsman driven mad after teenagers slaughtered his flock. University of Maryland folklorist Barry Pearson traces his heyday to the 1970s and the 1971 decapitation of a puppy named Ginger in Bowie, an incident the Washington Post covered and locals pinned on the creature haunting Fletchertown and Lottsford roads, while Beltsville spokesperson Kim Kaplan dryly wonders whether a goatman that old would be collecting Social Security by now.Next the show turns to Irish folklore and the leprechaun, the solitary fairy whose name traces to a Gaelic root for a small body or a shoemaker. Standing two to three feet tall in a green or red coat and buckled shoes, he works as a fairy cobbler who stitches only a single shoe and never a pair, guards a hidden pot of gold, and trades three wishes for his freedom when a human manages to catch him. He lives in cave networks reached through rabbit holes and the hollow trunks of fairy trees, and damaging one of those trees is said to draw a lifetime of bad luck. From the green hills of Ireland the episode moves to El Paso, Texas, where William and Margaret Patterson left their home at 3000 Piedmont Drive on March 5, 1957 and were never seen again, dinner dishes still in the sink and their cat Tommy left without food. The owners of Patterson Photo Supply vanished without packing a suitcase, their associate Doyle Kirkland turned up driving William's Cadillac with a thin story about a vacation, and a telegram from Dallas signed with the wrong middle initial named Kirkland as William's replacement at the store. Decades on, caretaker Reinaldo Nangre claimed he had cleaned blood from the garage and found a piece of scalp on the boat propeller before dying in a car crash, and Sheriff Leo Samaniego floated the theory that the couple were Soviet spies photographing Fort Bliss, leaving a disappearance that was declared a death in 1964 and has never been solved. The episode closes in the late 1940s, when Soviet researchers sealed five political prisoners in a chamber and kept them awake for fifteen days with an experimental gas-based stimulant, promising freedom in exchange for thirty sleepless days. Paranoia set in after five days, screaming after nine, and when the chamber was opened on the fifteenth the soldiers found four men still alive amid their own torn-out organs, having eaten their own flesh and blocked the floor drain with it, fighting any attempt to remove them and begging for the gas rather than sleep. One subject, pinned for surgery without anesthetic, wrote only the words "keep cutting," and as the last of them was shot through the heart he claimed to be the madness that lurks in every sleeping mind, choking out that he was so nearly free.

Eventually we even discuss what would happen if Zach Morris from Saved By the Bell was in this movie and used his time-stopping powers to talk to the audience. Really, there is no other place in this universe where these things have ever been talked about in relation to Leprechaun 2. Likely they will never be repeated by a human ever again. Seriously, there is a whole conversation about David Copperfield living in the tree the Irish gifted Harry Houdini and how that could relate to the movie. These conversations are not healthy.

We venture forth to the nerd cave this week to discuss Smile (2022) and Smile 2 (2024), both directed by Parker Finn, and what begins as a serious conversation about trauma, grief, and psychological horror immediately mutates into a 90-minute brainstorming session about how challenging the Smile Demon to a Mario Kart battle in space somehow makes sense? Look, if Leprechaun and Hellraiser can go to space, then this Demon-thing can, too.As we dive deep into Parker Finn's increasingly cursed universe of hallucinations and nightmare logic, we also break down why Smile worked so well as a psychological horror film, and how Smile 2 somehow managed to crank every dial into the red like a caffeinated psychopath that says, “What if we made everything worse?”Naturally, the convo asks the obvious questions such as:Is the Smile Demon secretly living its best life? Would the franchise improve if future sequels took place in Victorian England? Would Smile 9: Smile Harder feature Joker gas? Could Kyle Gallner have defeated the curse by challenging it to Mario Kart in low Earth orbit? The answer to at least one of these questions is apparently yes.We also celebrate everything that makes the franchise work:The relentless rug-pull hallucinations The terrifying "wait... is that person real? momentsThe increasingly horrifying mythology The monster design that somehow consists mostly of teeth and yet still makes everyone want to leave the room immediately By the end of the episode, we ultimately conclude that if you ever find yourself haunted by an ancient smiling nightmare creature, skip the therapy session, skip the drug dealer, skip the exposition, and immediately launch yourself into space.Checkmate, demon.CREEP-O-RAMA is: Store: CREEP-O-RAMAYouTube: @creep-o-ramaJosh: @joshblevesqueArtwork: @bargainbinblasphemyTheme: @imfigureAudio: @stranjlove

In today's episode, we suffer through the failed reboot of the Leprechaun series, Leprechaun Origins (2014).No longer starring Warwick Davis, the role of the "leprechaun" goes to Dylan Postl (famous for playing the role of a leprechaun in WWE). Unlike the wise-cracking Leprechaun from the first 6 movies, Postl's creature does not speak or do anything resembling entertainment. The result is a move that could have fatally wounded the franchise. Thankfully, it received a more proper reboot a few years later.

It's time to uncork the bottle of mythology and folklore to talk about a true English original - Imps!Beginning their lives as horticultural metaphors, the Anglo Saxon 'ympe' appears in all sorts of moralizing, overtly Christian texts, including those written by Alfred the Great - only by the 17th century if you had an imp of your own you could be hanged for the crime. How did this all come about?Well, it's a combination of several factors, including Bronze Age beliefs about Middle Eastern supernatural entities that haunted toilets, bed chambers, and windowsills, the stinking bogs and fens of Ireland and the British Isles, and Medieval explanations for the hierarchies of demons following Lucifer's rebellion against God.We track the imp's evolution from House Spirits made of dough, fed with milk and flour, through to the Witch Hunts of the English Republic, and the 19th century 'Imp Revival' as prompted by Romantic and Gothic literature, fairy stories, and Victorian satire. With a disgraceful number of puns (even more than last month!) and some really weird beliefs, as well as Eleanor reading some Old English, they may be tiny but we've gone in on Imps in a big way. Just don't tell the Witch Hunter General, who for some reason thinks we're keeping our mischievous familiars stashed in our armpits...We also hope you increasingly pleased by our new Bestiary episode art, as drawn by our good friend Tom Peteuil of Creature Castle - check out brand new Imp, Mermaid and Leprechaun merch here and visit the Creature Castle shop for prints and other wonderful things here.Speak to you again on Thursday for this week's Lang Fairy Tale, Graciosa and Percinet, and some no doubt spirited chat about it, before Saturday's Three Ravens Live episode, packed with Sussex folklore, as recorded at Ditchling Bookshop on 16th May!Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, we take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?REGISTER FOR THE TALES OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND TOURVisit our website Join our Patreon Social media channels and sponsors Hosted on Acast. Simon and Chris flip their lids with a capful of questions about supernatural, magical, and unlucky hats. Why are witch and wizard hats pointed? What is the fashionable color for fairy caps? What headwear does the Leprechaun favor? Chris suggests an ancient origin for magical pointed hats and goes off on a medieval tangent. Simon tops that by pointing out the importance of hats in signaling status, even in the fairy world. Chris, naturally, finds omens of death associated with hats and tells of some unlucky military headwear. Expect to learn the identity of the hat man; how to be the strongest person in your parish; and why you should always buy your wife an Easter bonnet (or die trying).

Welcome back to The Rizzuto Show — your favorite daily comedy show where things start normal and immediately spiral into nonsense. This episode kicks off with some classic “we're getting older and don't like it” energy as the crew reflects on time, aging, and how somehow everyone else looks older… except themselves (science still can't explain it). Then things take a sharp left turn into a heated debate about 90s movies — specifically City of Angels. Is it a beautiful romantic classic, or is it absolute trash that should've stayed buried in 1998? Let's just say… not everyone agrees, and feelings are definitely questioned. We also dive into March Movie Mayhem — because nothing says productivity like arguing over fictional brackets — and somehow end up talking about the iconic Back to the Future truck selling for a price that makes everyone reconsider their life choices.Meanwhile, real-life chaos hits when a lost bag situation at the airport turns into a full-on rescue mission. Thankfully, technology (and AirPods) saves the day — proving once again that we rely on gadgets way more than we'd like to admit. Speaking of which, the internet is now claiming we've all been wearing AirPods wrong this whole time… and yes, the show has opinions. In true daily comedy show fashion, the conversation bounces from celebrity drama to reality TV addiction (that everyone pretends to hate but absolutely watches), to a deep dive into leprechaun movies that no one asked for but everyone gets stuck talking about anyway. And of course, it wouldn't be complete without revisiting the legendary leprechaun news clip — because tradition matters.Add in some celebrity chaos, Oscar drama, and a whole lot of sarcastic commentary, and you've got an episode that perfectly captures what happens when a group of people with microphones just… keep talking. If you're here for laughs, weird tangents, and the kind of conversations that make you question everything — congrats, you found your people.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Movie Mike shares a baffling list who trashed the movies that gave them their big break. The list includes A-list actors like Jennifer Aniston who despises her role in "Leprechaun". As he tries to understand their reasoning, he gets triggered by certain actors who drag the roles that we all know and love. In the Movie Review, Mike and Kelsey talk about Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. It’s a passionate love story set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, exploring the intense and destructive relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. Mike shares how it’s different from most period dramas, the chemistry between the two leads and if the love story was good or they’re just two hot actors. Plus how director Emerald Fennell has had a great 3-movie run to start her career. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Disclosure Day directed by Steven Spielberg where the question is: If you found out we weren't alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? Mike dives into how the movie might be soft launched, really finding out the truth of what is out there and other movies that have pushed ideas onto the public. New Episodes Every Monday!
