Ep 026: The Quantum Chiropractor: Dr. Lauren Dodds On How Cellular Hydration Benefits Our Bodies & Minds

“It's not just drinking water. It's making sure that your mitochondria can generate that structured water, that exclusion zone water, that is really what is hydrating you,” explains Dr. Lauren Dodds, quantum chiropractor and founder of South Alabama Quantum Health where she combines her work in upper cervical chiropractic care, craniosacral therapy, and the Arvigo techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy with her deep understanding of quantum health. In this episode, Dr. Lauren discusses cellular hydration and why it is so important both to the structural integrity of the body as well as to one's mental and emotional states.  Cellular hydration refers to your mitochondria being able to generate enough structured or exclusion zone water for all of the body's processes. In this case, cellular dehydration occurs anytime there is a dysfunction within the fascia or in the quality or quantity of available structured water. When your body doesn't have enough structured water, the flow of electrons in your body will be disrupted. This can lead to an array of symptoms from brain fog and fatigue to gastrointestinal problems and muscle pain. In order to keep your mitochondria hydrated, it is critical to fix any dysfunction in your circadian rhythm by getting enough sunlight, observing the sunrise and sunset, and avoiding artificial light at night. You can also help your body out by improving the quality of your drinking water through filtering out toxins like fluoride and adding minerals like electrolytes. Drinking water is not enough to ensure healthy levels of cellular hydration. Your mitochondria need the infrared light from the sun and free electrons from the Earth in order to generate enough structured water to maintain good flow throughout the body. If you have been suffering from the effects of cellular dehydration, consider working to improve your circadian rhythm and being mindful about the quality of your drinking water.   Quotes “Fascia and water go together. If one is dysfunctional, then the structure is not going to work.” (10:42-10:48 | Dr. Lauren)  “The water that we drink is called bulk water…doesn't have the same structure that the water that our mitochondria makes.” (11:36-11:58 | Dr. Lauren)  “It's not just drinking water. It's making sure that your mitochondria can generate that structured water, that exclusion zone water, that is really what is hydrating you.” (12:46-12:57 | Dr. Lauren) “Making sure that you're getting good sunlight during the day, and then making sure that you're blocking the artificial light at night, I think are two of the biggest things that you can do for your mitochondrial health.” (17:28-17:40 | Dr. Lauren) “A lot of things come back to dehydration and not enough of that structured water. And then when you start to repair that mitochondrial function, to create that good water, it seems like a lot of things start to take care of itself.” (47:09-47:25 | Dr. Lauren) Links Connect with Dr. Lauren Dodds: Website: https://soalquantumhealth.com/ Instagram @drlaurendodds Clinic: Spark Wellness www.sparkmywellness.com @sparkmywellness   To find a practitioner who understand the health principles of quantum biology: www.quantumbiologycollective.org  To become a QBC member and get invites to live deep dives & access to our video library: www.quantumhealthtv.com  To take our 8 week practitioner certification in the science of quantum biology so that you can add it to your existing area of expertise: www.appliedquantumbiology.com    Follow on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook: @quantumhealthtv    Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Welcome to the second season and 94th episode of Food Freedom and Fertility. This episode jumps in where the last episode left off with our guest and listener Caitlin Dillon. Caitlin was a listener who participated in a contest last season and won the opportunity to be a guest on the podcast. Last episode Caitlin and Sophia discussed what Caitlin Dillon and her husband have been doing in their TTC journey. We pick up as we dive deeper in to Caitlin's data, labs and personal habits.  While Caitlin and Sophia give additional suggestions and recommendations for the Dillons they also remind them that they are working very hard on a very emotional task and praise them for the work they have done to this point.   Some of the additional information our hosts share are tips on how to help inflammation such as eating leafy green veggies, fish and fruits. They also discuss signs to tell if you have inflammation. Typically, when progesterone is not optimal inflammation is the first place to look. Some of the signs are painful joints or a puffy face. One topic up for discussion was the importance of a pelvic floor therapist in a woman's life and how valuable it is to see one. They suggest that every woman at some point in their life see a PFT. In summary, Caitlin and Sophia share what they would suggest that Caitlin and her husband do next in their journey. First on the list is to dive into Caitlin's progesterone levels, make an appointment with a pelvic floor therapist, move forward with FERTILYSIS, tame inflammation issues, look into Caitlin's husbands high white blood cells in his semen, rule out Caitlin's L-shaped cervix. There is a type of massage technique from central America called “Maya Abdominal Therapy” and it manually repositions the uterus which could help with the cervix. And finally, Caitlin should get her clotting factors tested for Antiphospholipid (an autoimmune disorder that is associated with pregnancy complications, including preeclampsia, thrombosis, autoimmune thrombocytopenia, fetal growth restriction, and fetal loss) and a blood test called D -dimer. It was a pleasure having a listener join the podcast for these 2 special episodes and we hope that some of the info shared in this podcast can be valuable in your journey as well. Michelle and Sunni VonMutius continue their conversation from S2 E1 The Grief and Loss of Placing a Child for Adoption on the Birth Ease Loss podcast. Sunni courageously shares how the circumstances, trauma, fear, and shame  from her first child's birth impacted the birth of her second child 20 years later and her experience of postpartum depression.  Together they discuss the importance of trauma-informed care, exploring unconscious biases, the mind-body connection, informed consent, understanding trauma triggers, creating a postpartum care plan, self-care versus soul-care, and why the cultural conversation around adoption and placing a child for adoption must change."On the outside, I look like a pretty decent human being and on the inside, I feel like a total piece of poop when I talk about the fact that I gave my child up for adoption. And that is because of the way that society treats birth moms after the fact. … there's all sorts of judgments that come with it. I am so proud of the choice I made and when I talk about it, there's a part of me that feels like scum. That is not a viable solution in our society. If we are going to make that the only option for women, we have got to change the way we talk about adoption. We have got to change the way we treat birth moms…. There's a lot of conversation about adoption being this super easy solution and I just want to make it really clear, it is NOT simple. It is NOT easy. … Do not put it on the table like it is some sort of easy solution to a pregnancy. Because it, just like a lot of other solutions, will live with us for the rest of our lives. And, I think that's important to acknowledge" — Sunni VonMutius Notes: Michelle's episode with Sunni's Midwife Elena Rosa is 118 Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy. In this podcast we will be chatting with EWP PhD student Reise Tanner about her unique approaches to birthing through her work as a midwife, doula and birthing coach. She shares her experiences in learning how to hold space to help mothers feel their belonging during the birthing process, and discusses how birthing can be approached as a form of sacred activism. Reise talks about how to reclaim the deep feminine and the role of the earth as the divine feminine in holistic transformation, which leads us to discuss the necessity of honoring intuitive ways of knowing in scholarship. We end the episode exploring some problems of our times and the importance of the continual development of approaches and strategies to conscious parenting. Reise Tanner is a PhD student in East West Psychology focused on decolonial depth psychology, ecopsychology, and applied mythology at the crossroads with feminism, indigenous traditions and liberatory methods. Her research positions birthwork as sacred activism and mothering within feminist discourse while exploring archetypes of the Feminine and centering what has been marginalized. As a seasoned doula, she views the birthing process as an initiation and believes that each birth—whether to a human or project or new version of Self— has the power to be transformative and meaningful for everyone involved. Reise is also a perinatal educator, Certified Empowerment Coach, Birthing From Within Mentor, Birth Story Listener, and mother who has attended hundreds of births and supported thousands of people on their birth journeys and beyond through groups and classes. She has trained doulas and created two innovative postpartum programs that feature storytelling: Wild Return and Wild & Rooted. In addition to attending many midwifery and birth-related trainings in the US and abroad, she has spoken publicly on several panels, and presented to the medical community. She has been a yoga instructor since 1997, certified practitioner of Maya Abdominal Therapy, and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. Whenever possible, Reise loves to travel, spend time in wild nature, and attend cultural events. Today we talk to Dr. Rosita Arvigo, Naprapathic physician, International author and lecturer, and founder of The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. She has dedicated her life and practice to preserving and elevating traditional Mayan abdominal massage practices, and using them to heal patients from all manner of reproductive system dysfunction in both body and spirit.   We talk about Dr. Arvigo's apprenticeship in Mayan abdominal massage with her mentor Don Elijio Panti, and how she merged those methods with her existing work in Naprapathy to develop the Arvigo method. We also talk about uterine displacement and the way that Mayan abdominal therapy is intended to help correct it.   We talk about how the displacement of the uterus disrupts blood flow, and the sorts of issues that can cause, as well as how correcting the placement and blood flow can help with a large number of reproductive issues. We also talk about how easily the uterus can become misaligned during a woman's life, which contributes to how common menstrual pain is for most women.   We discuss fertility challenges and the mechanics of how lymphatic blockages caused by uterine displacement may heavily contribute. We talk about Premenstrual mood issues and which parts of them are normal and natural, and which parts may be aggravated by misalignment.   Finally, we talk about some of the spiritual elements of menstrual regularity, and the ways that being misaligned be emotionally and spiritually damaging for a woman. We talk about the affects of birth control on uterine flow and discuss the considerations involved.   To Learn More Visit: https://abdominaltherapycollective.com or  https://rositaarvigo.com   For Any Questions, Email Us at media@birthcircle.com

What can *really* change your reproductive life? Two things we talk about in today's episode of Hormonally Speaking. I absolutely loved having this conversation with Ashley Marie, who is a licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist specializing in Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy. And if you've never heard of Maya Abdominal Therapy, you are about to learn something EVERY woman should know about. You probably know by now that I'm into doing just about anything to help women with their fibroids, and this is one technique that can help tremendously. It also supports every part of your reproductive health, and can be particularly helpful with bringing back periods, easing period pain, and normalizing your cycle. We also dive into the other arena I want every woman to be educated on - FAM (Fertility Awareness Method). As Ashley mentions, it's 99.4% effective when done correctly. And even beyond fertility or birth control, FAM does SO much to connect you to your body and overall health. I wish I would've known about it as a teen, which Ashley and I also talk about. Being empowered with FAM at a younger age could help with so many issues that come up around sex and body autonomy. Ashley Marie is a Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist specializing in Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy and Intuitive Bodywork. After suffering from irregular and painful menstrual cycles for most of her life and getting no help in understanding them from her medical providers, she decided to trust that the healing was in her own hands. With a combination of herbs, massage and dietary changes she now has a regular, pain free cycle that she looks forward to each month. She is passionate about creating a space for women to transform their menstrual realities with womb work, reproductive health education and practical self~care rituals. She lives in an forested community in the Mountains near Asheville, NC with her husband and 4 children. Follow Ashley on IG at https://www.instagram.com/rooted.feminine/.

Pamela is a bodycare witch, a sex ed teacher, a renegade, an instigator, a libertine. Or perhaps she’s really more of a wizard than a witch. A sexy female Dumbledore minus 50 years. Gravitas and twinkly eyes. As a bodywork specialist, she is trained in sexological bodywork, holistic pelvic care, and the Arvigo techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy. This means that she works on the pelvis and the pussy, inside and out. She's a warrior of bodily empowerment, Rosie the Riveter with a speculum. We first met the day before we were supposed to record, in the gender neutral bathroom at an event called Cycles & Sex, which is about pussies, not bicycles. Pamela was leading roomfuls of women in a campaign called “Take Back the Speculum,” which is part anatomy lesson, part show and tell, and part hands-on practice. Pamela shows the sexual anatomy of her own body, by inserting a speculum, and allowing the participants to see her cervix with a flashlight. Then, the participants are given a speculum, and get to try it on their own. I didn’t do it that day. You’ll find out why in the episode. In this part of our conversation, we talk about ambiverts, cervical self-exams, femme-drag and bespoke suits, wonder women, moving people’s wombs into a more optimal position, arousal vs. wetness, the husband stitch, and Pamela’s viral rant. My dear listener. Come lie down with us. Patronage is what makes it possible for me to continue making independent, uncensored, ad free homemade radio. When my crowd-funding grows, I’ll be able to dedicate myself to intimacy work. I believe that when we make private conversations public, intimacy becomes contagious, and the more intimate relationships we nourish, the happier our lives. For $10 a month, you’ll get access to the love poem of the month, a private recording of one of my favorites. *This episode is for mature audiences only* One day back in early January, I saw a post from today's guest that said something unnerving: that every single woman she'd worked on (she's a bodyworker) since November had experienced some sort of trauma related to the election. Obviously I knew I needed to talk to her on the WANTcast. This got me thinking about not only the political climate, but trauma in general. How we deal with it, how it lives in the body, and maybe the very most mind-boggling, how many times we don't even know it's there. Trauma isn't always a car accident or violence. Trauma can take on many forms. So how does that impact us on a daily basis? And do we even realize it? In this season of the WANTcast, I am determined to be a little bit bolder and expose you to different stories, ideas, techniques, tricks, methods, and practices that are helping others move forward fearlessly in their lives and can maybe do the same for you - or at the very least, which is not something to take lightly, get you thinking outside the box. Some of them might be sort of familiar. Some of them might blow your mind. Some might be toeing the line of what is "acceptable" to talk about and what isn't. Today's episode with bodyworker Pamela Samuelson details ALL of the above. From how trauma lives in the body to what YOU can do to let go of negative energy to the taboo form of therapy that even I was a little nervous to talk about when Pam brought it up to me....we really go there.
