I know when I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at 28 I didn’t even get a second opinion. With the functional approach we don’t focus on the diagnosis. And if you are struggling with infertility there are underlying causes as to why it’s not working. Today we’re answering your questions. Justine is part of my team here at Fab Fertile. She is an integral part of our Couples Coaching program - which uses functional lab testing, diet and lifestyle changes to dramatically improve conception. She is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and Certified Transformational Health Coach and EFT Practitioner. Today we are discussing: 2) What to do if you are underweight and what healing opportunities may have been missed. (i.e. celiac, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, gut issues, SIBO, H.Pylori, low Vitamin D, low stomach acid, adrenal dysfunction, hypothyroidism, autoimmunity). Plus we discuss strategies to help with healthy weight gain. 4) The functional approach for unexplained infertility. The importance of including your partner. (i.e. address stressors - food/gut/environmental/stress/structural) plus reviewing blood chemistry for both partners. Common themes we see are thyroid dysfunction low vitamin D, long term hormonal birth control, blood sugar imbalance. 6) What to do if you have low AMH. We discuss our proven functional approach to help you get pregnant naturally or improve the success with IVF. --- It doesn't matter whether you're 28 or 38. You're already READY to have your baby... you just wish your body would catch you up. You may be feeling impatient, frustrated, which leads to you trying to plan and control EVERY aspect to 'make it work'. But clinging on tighter to something you want often leads to panic and stress. And we both know that those things don't benefit your fertility journey. What if there was another way? One where you just knew that it would work out for you? Where you could finally relax and stop worrying about timing, planning, and controlling the outcome. You'd just know that your child was waiting for you. That the SOUL of your baby - was waiting for you. How would the journey look different if you KNEW that your baby really was waiting? Would it be easier? Give you more trust in the process? Help you feel peaceful? I’m excited to announce our Step Into Your Power course is OPEN for registration. Here’s what you can expect during the 6-week course: Week #1 - How To Use Your Intuition Over Your Inner Critic We all have an inner critic. The voice inside your head, that unless we train ourselves, can take over our lives and make us feel that nothing will work. You’ll learn how to turn down the volume on the voice in your head so that you can encourage that little voice of wisdom, (otherwise known as your intuition) in order to see a positive outcome. Week #2 - Tuning Into The Spiritual Nudges Whether you believe in the universe/God/Higher Power - they really DO have the best in mind for you. And if you really knew and BELIEVED this to be true, how would you approach this journey differently? You’ll learn to listen to the spiritual nudges we all have and to dream big so that you can move from overthinking and worry to trusting the process and knowing that your baby is waiting for you. Week #3: Reclaiming Yourself During tough times it can be easy to lose touch who we are or who we used to be. You’ll learn to gather the pieces of yourself to discover who you are becoming so that you can see a positive future and feel whole again. Week #4: Connecting With Nature and Your Spirit Animal We live in a world where many of us have lost our connection with nature. Mother nature has great lessons to teach us (if we know how to listen). You’ll learn to connect with your power animal (yes we all have them) so that you can gather a deeper understanding of what this journey means for you. Plus you’ll discover how to add helpers to every room and you’ll begin to listen to your guides who only want the best for you and can help with your fertility journey. Week #5: Developing a Spiritual Contract Your baby is waiting just for you. They have been chosen you to be their parent. You’ll learn how to prepare to conceive, how to engage with a spiritual contract so that you can soften into the awareness that divine timing is different from your timing. You’ll finally be able to let go of the despair and need for over control so that you can move from thinking and planning into a quiet state of knowing and feeling confident in your quest to have a baby naturally. Week #6: Accessing Your Superpower You’ll discover how to move into an attitude of gratitude and why being grateful is a superpower. Plus with the help of your guides, you’ll raise your vibration so that you can see and feel the signs that are all around you so that you can connect with your future baby. At the end of the 6 weeks, you’ll be able to approach your fertility journey with a lighter more intentional mindset. You’ll step into that place of knowing, also known as your heart space that is filled with the healing power of love. The control, worry, and frustration will take a backseat as you step into your power so that you can trust that your future baby is waiting for you. The course will start in early September, however registration closes Tuesday July 21st at midnight PST. The ‘survivors’ lived little lives and kept their heads down, however in the concentration camp Esther’s father was one of those who had experienced ‘rebirth’ and tried to live life to the full. I have also experienced ‘rebirth’ quite literally several times this lifetime from being resuscitated at birth, as a teen surviving the eating disorder Anorexia Nervosa that was triggered after I was molested and the life shattering earthquake in Istanbul in 1999. When people experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. I have been on a life ravelling journey of over 10 000 steps involving anxiety, depression, PTSD to wholeness and wellbeing and therefore; it is my passion and honour to help facilitate healing to people who have been through a traumatic stressful experience or who need a happy, healthy, successful Life Recipe. I help my clients who include children, teenagers and adults to find happy, healthy reframing perceptions and strengthen their relationships so that they can know themselves as confidant, competent, peaceful, safe and successful. I help courageous and dynamic people to make incredible changes in their lives. I’ve watched people get very fit, happy and healthy, build investment empires, reconnect with their families, re-enter the workplace after redundancy, repair important relationships most often with themselves, get out of debt, get their time back, get their mojo back and so much more… I know that one single approach is does not suit everyone and along my journey I have explored many modalities from classical counselling and psychology models to the new success psychologys, for example Mindfulness, Neuro-linguistic Programming, Thought Field Therapy and Transformational Hypnosis. In 2015 I was invited to submit a chapter about my life for the internationally best-selling Elevate Health book series. I wrote Keeping A Breast about another answer to cancer, my journey to wellbeing after experiencing a health challenge encompassing mindset, DNA protection, work-life balance and the blessed insightful wisdom that comes from learning to bat life curveballs. Previously, I have volunteered with the long term unemployed teaching literacy and numeracy and worked with disabled adults. I present regularly on community radio on topics as diverse as dating, relationships and health and also present regularly to peers on topics such as Metabolic Syndrome, Rapid Transformational Therapy to Mind-Hacking Our Super-Conscious. I am blessed to live bay side in beautiful Melbourne,

When Sarah Clark was 28 years old, she received a diagnosis of premature ovarian failure (loss of function of the ovaries before age 40). At the time she has chronic yeast infections, acne on her previously clear skin, dandruff and a weird fungal rash on her chest. She didn’t realize until years later that these health conditions were connected to her fertility. She accepted the diagnosis and was fortunate to have both her children with donor eggs. After her children were born her health began to suffer. She experienced chronic bladder infections, chronic sinus infections, the chronic yeast infections worsened, toenail infections, vertigo, seasonal allergies, allergies to multiple antibiotics and eczema. Years later she realized the root cause of her infertility was a food intolerance and later a gut infection. She did not discover this link until she was fully in menopause. Her message is one of HOPE. If you are still cycling naturally there are steps we can take with the tools of functional medicine. She is a certified life coach with accreditation from the International Coaches Federation and a health coach with training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Can Unexplained Fertility be explained is a big question many if you are asking and Unexplained Fertility is the 'diagnosis' given to many couples, but is it really unexplained? If you follow what I write and say you'll know that I truly believe if we look beyond the limitations of the standard tests (whose purpose is to signpost you to the relevant fertility treatment), we can find answers. This is something I work with my clients with in my own coaching programmes, what clues is the body giving us and what effects is our own internal fertility reference system causing, and how can we find and clear this, and we find that the answers may in fact lead us to the solution. With some of my clients, the physical clues lead us to a need for deeper answers We've talked on the podcast before about sensitivities , gut health and inflammation before, but I wanted to dig a little deeper into testing etc. ABOUT SARAH CLARK When Sarah Clark was 28 years old, she received a diagnosis of premature ovarian failure. Hello, and WELCOME to the Bare Bones Yoga Podcast: Conversations for Yoga Teachers! This is EPISODE 12 and today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite subjects: BRAIN SCIENCE! Now, let me tell you; as yoga teachers, it’s imperative we understand more about the brain then just a passing few bits of information here and there because we’re in the business of teaching movement. And, to understand what’s behind that, there’s more than the mechanical aspects we discuss in the anatomy; there’s also the impact of course, of the brain on movement, learning, memory, sensation and more. Let me start out by saying this: This guest, whom I’ll introduce to you in a moment, is part of my special wellness event coming up in January called The Bare Bones Yoga Urban Wellness Weekend. This event is a two day opportunity for you to practice yoga, meditation, learn myofascial release, hear from expert speakers on different aspects of wellness, including today’s guest who will be talking about neuroscience, eat healthy food, hear inspiring stories from the speaker panel and more. It’s really a life changing line up that’s meant to shift your ways of thinking in positive ways and give you real information, not fluff stuff, about how to improve your health! This event is Jan 12/13 in Cambridge MA. To sign up, all you need to do is go on my website home page. And guess what? Early bird rates apply until 12/15 AND for being a podcast listener, you get a $25 discount off registration! To get it, just email me BEFORE YOU SIGN UP, say you want the podcast listener discount and I’ll send you a special link to pay. AND, I’m also running a REFER a friend discount so you can get $25 just for referring a friend! (Details on the event page) What are we going to cover? Today, we’re going to dive into an aspect of neuroscience that’s critical to personal development: that of how to decide whether to listen to your head or your heart. While this might not, at first glance, seem like a topic central to teaching, think again. I’ll dive into the rationale behind it shortly. So, let’s get to the next step, introducing Jen Riggs! Jennifer Riggs, JD, CNTC is a certified neuroscience coach, speaker and former lawyer who helps people shift out of a surviving brain to a thriving brain. Her 5-part framework integrates neuroscience, coaching, mindfulness and mind-body principles. Jennifer’s whole-person approach to change builds brain integration, resilience, leadership capacities and well-being. Jennifer is certified by the Coaches Training Institute and is an accredited member of the International Coaches Federation. She is certified as a neuro-transformational coach (CNTC) by BeAbove Leadership. Jennifer researches neuroscience, stress and change for her coaching program and blog (at jenriggs.com). In addition, Jennifer has a 20-year yoga practice, over 700 hours of yoga-teacher training, and a mindfulness meditation practice. In her interactive presentation, Now, there are many different aspects of neuroscience and Jen’s presentation at the Urban Wellness Weekend will focus on how the brain reacts to stress, how stress affects our thinking, and how you can improve your response by connecting to your thriving brain. Today what we’re going to discuss is a dilemma many of us have had before: Have you ever felt like your head said one thing and your heart said another? Which one should you follow? It's a tough one, because whatever you decide, it seems as if either your rational thoughts or your feelings are going to lose out. Now, while this doesn’t specifically apply to yoga teaching per se, if you think about it, there are many applications of this to our development as people. And THIS most certainly applies to teaching. If you’ve listened to some of my earlier episodes that highlight personal growth topics, I’m a huge supporter of teachers doing personal development work in order to improve their teaching. Teaching effectively comes from a deep knowledge of oneself and if we’re struggling with personal issues, it’s hard for us to be effective as a teacher. So let’s begin!

Such a hopeful message for those struggling with fertility or irregular periods. In this episode, Sarah Clark of FabFertile.com shares with us her fertility struggles, how she became interested in learning about fertility and what she discovered in the process. She may never have needed fertility treatment if she knew then what she knows now. Tune in and learn how she helps thousands of women across the globe become pregnant naturally. What to look for when treating someone dealing with infertility? Review health history with a functional nutritionist, including symptom checklist. Sarah has yet to see someone struggling with infertility, just have infertility issues. There is usually something else going on in the body. Whether it’s too much stress, out of whack hormones, auto immune disease, gut infections, etc. Recommended prep for someone who is thinking about getting pregnant Start with your sleep, get 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Disrupted sleep can affect insulin levels the next day. Diet- take out processed foods. Add fruits and vegetables. Cook at home more. Take your own lunch to work. Stress- eliminate by taking baths, meditation, journaling, self-care. Unfortunately, she sees people as their last resort after visiting infertility clinic, at which point there is only a 40% chance to get pregnant. Taking care of yourself naturally before resorting to infertility clinics, is ideal. You may get pregnant, and if you don’t, infertility treatments can only increase your chances above the 40% success rate. Foods to increase fertility Eat organic. Eliminate the pesticides, which affect fertility. Whole grains like quinoa and buckwheat. Eliminate simple carbs like cookies and cakes. Fruits and Veggies Switch to gluten-free Meats: Chicken and fish should be organic and free-range. 2-3 animal proteins per week, and the rest of the week plant based. Stay away from soy. If you’re going to have it use miso. Drink lots of water. Avoid: dairy, gluten, corn, soy, peanuts and eggs. Take them out for at least 10 days but preferably about 30 days. Or take food sensitivity test. When there is inflammation in the body, you can’t get pregnant so easily. Tune in to learn about the different inflammations that can affect the body making it difficult to conceive. How do supplements affect fertility? You take supplements in conjunction with the dietary and lifestyle changes. Folate, thorn, prenatal basic, magnesium, coenzyme Q10, probiotic (for pregnancy and during pregnancy). Be careful that they do not include dyes, fillers and chemicals. Get good quality product, which yes, they are more expensive, but well worth it. Primrose oil and maca (great in smoothies) are also great. Check her blog for a great maca smoothie, for both men and women. To start taking these supplement you should definitely talk to a professional about dosages, and which supplements will be best for each individual person. There is a lot of misinformation out there and very confusing. What about the men and infertility? Women are usually the ones that reach out for support….they tend to be on the driver seat. But male infertility affects 40% of couples. Men also need the same type of treatments in nutrition, supplements, cell phones out of pockets, avoid plastics (no microwave in plastic), drink water out of glass or stainless steel…lots of lifestyle changes available for men as well. Don’t wait 8 years to try to get pregnant…reach out to Sarah Clark’s information and implement some of her suggestions. It just might work! Sarah’s 3 Habits to Ensure Health: Don’t’ look at menu in restaurant. Just decides what she feels like or what her body needs, and ask the server or chef what they can add to her protein in terms of veggies. Helps eliminate taking in allergens. 8 hours of sleep…a HUGE one! Today I'm chatting with Sarah Clark, a certified life coach with accreditation from the International Coaches Federation and a health coach with training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is the author of Fabulously Fertile - Supercharge your Fertility Naturally. Her fertility coaching program, which includes functional lab testing, supports couples to make diet and lifestyle changes that dramatically improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy and baby! On her Get Pregnant Naturally Podcast she shares that with functional medicine and natural fertility solutions we can eventually reverse infertility. In this episode Sarah discusses what it was like receiving a diagnosis of premature ovarian failure and having both of her children through in vitro fertilization, then later finding out that the root cause of her infertility was a food sensitivity and gut infection. We discuss the process of getting a donor egg, what to do if you're told you're infertile, and the hidden causes of infertility. We talk about how birth control affects fertility, which hormone and gut tests to get, why men's health is so important for pregnancy, and the power of epigenetics. We also discuss postpartum rage, how to deal with triggers if you're having trouble conceiving, handling mom jealousy, the best natural supplements to support pregnancy, and more.
