Join us as we look into the potential 1000 ft Tsunami wave that may be geting ready to smack the Pacific North West any day now. Then we discuss the unexplained super sonic booms that was heard over Colorado this week. We listen and discuss all about the Big Beautiful Bill that may get passed here soon. The AI portion of this bill leads us to talk about new liquid robotic technology thats being developed (very Terminator 2). While talking about politics we learn more about the genocide in South Africa, and the President bold faced saying to Trump that it is a myth...as Trump pulls out evidence showing the opposite. We finish talking about Balochistan secceding from Pakistan in the wake of the conflict, and how that may force China to make more of a presence in the region to protect their Pakistani belt and road initiative. To join next week, come check out patreon.com/CajunKnightBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/cult-of-conspiracy--5700337/support.
It's a jam-packed pod as we take stock of the Seattle Sounders' big road trip, which saw them post a 1-1-1 record across matches in Houston, LAFC, and Portland. Was the debacle at LAFC a cause for concern? Is a 1-1 draw at Portland an acceptable result? We discuss that and more in a double-game review. Later on, we dive into our Agenda Check and give our Winners and Losers from Matchday 14 in MLS.SPONSORSHaxan Ferments - Specializing in unique, small-batch fermented hot sauces and vinegars, Haxan Ferments is handcrafted in Georgetown and made with the best local ingredients from across the Pacific Northwest. What happens when your body tells you the truth before your mind is ready to hear it?Andrew Lang had built a life around doing the most. He was a teacher, a union rep, and a quiet emotional anchor for everyone around him. Summertime is upon us! We've penciled in some time to sip rosé and soak up the sunshine so we'll be sprinkling in some periodic breaks from our own content creations. Of course, we'd never leave you high and dry. This week, our friends Shea & Jody of the Rainy Day Rabbit Holes podcast share the story of one of the weirdest—and most unbelievable—government projects in Pacific Northwest history. In 1948, Idaho launched one of the strangest wildlife relocation efforts in U.S. history—dropping live beavers out of airplanes into the remote wilderness. Sounds like folklore, but it's true.Join their exploration of this bizarre historical event in depth: who greenlit it, how they pulled it off, and what happened to the beavers who took the plunge. The story combines government problem-solving at its most eccentric, animal relocation tactics of the 20th century, and the lasting legacy of this truly wild conservation effort. Whether you're a fan of weird history, bizarre and yet somehow true stories from the wild, or simply love an offbeat narrative based in the Pacific Northwest, this episode is for you. Founded by Portland natives Dainéal Parker (vocals, guitars) and Daniel Alden (bass), the group found revelation with the inclusion of their drummer, Josh Harris. Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like The Cure, Hum, The Smashing Pumpkins, Explosions In The Sky, and Deftones, the group embarked on a creative journey during the pandemic, molding a distinct sonic identity that has marked them out as the next new act to watch. Whether trying to nail down their sound or find another group as hardworking as them, the band stands alone as their namesake would against a barren backdrop. And, of course, the East LA outfit doesn't fit in with the pomp and bluster of the Hollywood rock scene, unconcerned as they are with clout, glory, or grandeur. The quartet (with guitarist Ben Palmer squaring the circle) combines the grit of East LA with the sublime wildness of the Pacific Northwest – a group that is at once solitary, capable, dangerous, and self-assured The band spent the pandemic crafting and honing their sound to a polish during the years of lockdowns and unrest the pandemic brought. What that is, or what to call it, is, again, not easy. “Grunge Renaissance”? “Post-Alt Rock?” Trying to classify them according to genre might earn the vague moniker of “alt-rock” or as far afield as “post-rock.” Instead, their sound might be best captured by Parker's vision for his lyrics. “I've always been fascinated with scale, majesty, immensity,” he muses. “I imagine my own death would ideally either being lost at sea or in the forest.” Look no further than the band's name for a prime example: “Lone Kodiak” evokes the grand intimacy of a powerful animal lumbering through a vast, unforgiving wilderness. On an endless landscape, one can't help but feel like everything is infinitely far away, and yet feels close enough to touch, looming distantly right in front of our eyes. If you've ever felt like you didn't stay in one place too long, or have lived a thousand lives in terms of jobs and careers, today's guest puts your entire lore to shame. On top of that, he's probably growing better
Ask anyone to name a mythical Oregon creature, and you'll get a very predictable answer: Bigfoot, a.k.a. Sasquatch. The stories and legends of Bigfoot, the Pacific Northwest's reigning “hide-and-seek champion,” are vast and growing every year. Just a list of them, from 1945 to present, would be longer than this article. But Bigfoot is neither the only Oregon cryptid, nor the most plausible. There are others. And chief among those others is the Columbia Bar Sea Serpent. (Columbia River Bar, Clatsop County; 1930s) (For text and pictures, see https://offbeatoregon.com/20-02.columbia-river-bar-sea-serpent-colossal-claude.html)

ET is the epitome of the remake—the embodiment of what it looks like to let go of one part of our identity, to pursue a new path, intentionally and thoughtfully making sure that our actions are in alignment with our priorities.Spirited, feisty, wise beyond her years and full of heart, Emma Thompson has been a source of inspiration for my young swimmer and I'm confident that in this conversation she will provide much needed perspective (perhaps a desperately needed perspective shift) of how we can best support young athletes as they chase their watery (performance) dreams, while fostering a strong sense of identity and self outside of the pool, track, playing field, or court. This story is a selection from: ‘The Best of Super Great Kids' Stories. We're going to release one popular story from our archive - each month on a Wednesday in the middle of the month. This episode was the first to be released on our podcast. It's a ‘How and Why' story retold by Tuup. He's been telling this story for many years. He first read it in a book called: 'Whale in The Sky' by Anne Siberell' (Puffin 1991) and was inspired to work it into a version of his own. There are many stories about powerful birds and big fish told across the American Pacific Northwest. Happy Listening! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Spring has officially sprung. The birds are chirping, the plants are waking up, and the earth is on the move again. It's a beautiful time of year—and here in the Pacific Northwest, we welcome the lifting of the cold, the retreat of the rain, and the chance to head back outside to enjoy nature's splendor and get our gardens growing. But spring's return comes at a high cost for many due to seasonal allergies. If you're one of the millions of people who suffer from seasonal allergies, stepping outside can bring so much discomfort and suffering that it hardly seems worth it. You might choose to stay inside, avoiding the warm, sunny days simply because your allergies make being outside unbearable. In this episode, we're diving into the dynamics of seasonal allergies. There's a lot to cover, so this will be a two-part series. You may just be looking for remedies—and we'll get there—but first, we need some context. Understanding the "why" behind seasonal allergies provides a broader perspective on what's happening and how to identify the root cause. In Part One, we'll explore the background and context of seasonal allergies, including: The contributing factors behind allergies and intolerance An esoteric perspective to complement physiological understanding The difference between allergies and intolerances What immunological load is—and how to remain asymptomatic With this foundation in place, Part Two will cover the therapeutic strategy and approach. Ellen is back with the wonderful Jeff Hinshaw (@cosmiccousins). They talk about the astrology of the moment. Then they take a question from Cindy. Cindy lives in Los Angeles where most of her family also resides. She is an actress/writer/dancer/stand-up comedian and while she loves her work- it is hard to make it all work financially. She wonders if she is living in the right place and if, instead, she should move to the Pacific Northwest and do something totally different career-wise. Jeff explains the concept of Astrocartography- a system that maps your birth chart against a world map to identify locations on Earth that might resonate with specific aspects of your life and personality. He looks at Cindy's chart and talks about the pros and cons of a potential move. Over the last 10 years Washington has passed a bevy of climate laws aimed at reducing the state’s carbon emissions. That includes a carbon auction, a ban on coal in the state’s energy mix, and a requirement that the state reach net zero emissions by 2045. But during that same period, energy production from renewable sources has actually declined slightly. Oregon has set its sights on net zero emissions by 2050. It, too, has seen sluggish growth in renewable energy. Both states rely on the Bonneville Power Administration to move energy across the state. A new investigation from Oregon Public Broadcasting and ProPublica’s Local Reporting Network, found that the Bonneville Power Administration's aging grid may be stymieing decarbonization efforts in the Northwest. In this episode of the podcast, I'm talking with Francine Ang about the joys and challenges of teaching yoga and mindful movement during tumultuous times. Francine shares what it's been like leading classes in her community since they were impacted by the recent LA Fires, and we reflect on what it means to find ground through practice. You'll hear about Francine's background growing up in a Chinese Buddhist family in California, and how she ended up spending a year at a monastery in Tibet. We talk about her path to becoming a yoga teacher and how she's now integrating Qigong alongside Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Since many yoga, movement, and meditation teachers these days are grappling with how to hold space in the midst of the current political intensity, divisiveness, exhaustion, and constant uncertainty, we thought it would be useful to discuss our experiences of teaching through other times of change and chaos. We share some guidance and stories, including: The importance of meeting people where they are and giving them space to step back from the noise Acknowledging loss and uncertainty, but also staying open to goodness and beauty How Francine found being in class together following the Eaton Fire was a way to bring back some normalcy Examples like Addie's story of how the Spiral Path Yoga community handled the sudden passing of a teacher/co-owner right after we opened the studio. We also talked about going on retreat, and why we both value the opportunity for more dedicated practice times. Francine makes a useful distinction between retreat as an escape vs. retreat as an experience of arriving, and she shares how being in silent presence with others can be incredibly grounding. This is a conversation with lots of heart, and plenty of laughs! We hope you'll find some steadiness, inspiration, and connection by hanging out with us in this episode. ------------ For more links and resources mentioned in this episode, find the show notes at movedtomeditate.yoga/podcast. The Informed Citizen – Vigilante Justice in SeattleIn this eye-opening episode, host Philip Lindholm sits down with investigative journalist Jonathan Choe and newly elected Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank to tackle one of the most disturbing trends in the Pacific Northwest: the rise of vigilante justice in Seattle. With lawlessness on the rise and faith in public institutions waning, citizens are beginning to take matters into their own hands—and this episode explores why.Episode Highlights:Seattle's Descent into LawlessnessFrom teens wielding axes to open-air drug markets andemboldened squatters, Jonathan Choe reveals what his reporting has uncovered on the streets of Seattle. He describes a city where criminal behavior is often met with little to no consequence—and where both residents and law enforcement feel powerless.Broken Systems, Demoralized ForcesSheriff Keith Swank explains how decades of policy shifts have created a vacuum of enforcement. Felonies downgraded to misdemeanors, understaffed police departments, and lenient prosecution have undermined public safety and shaken morale among officers. Why Vigilantism Is on the RiseAs public trust evaporates, homeowners and landlords areturning to private security—or taking justice into their own hands. From landlords evicting squatters at gunpoint to citizens threatening to 'bring the homies,' the line between justice and revenge is becoming dangerously thin.Addiction, Homelessness, and Misdiagnosed CausesThe conversation turns to root causes. Both Swank and Choereject the 'more affordable housing will fix it' narrative, pointing instead to addiction, untreated mental illness, and a lack of accountability. They argue that real compassion includes intervention and involuntary treatment—notenabling behavior in the name of tolerance.A Tale of Two CountiesSwank contrasts Seattle's decline with his new leadership inPierce County, where he's reforming the Sheriff's Office from within. He explains how he's building trust, elevating qualified leaders, and restoring morale to ensure Pierce County doesn't become the next King County.Case Study: The Squatter Who StayedIn a stunning example, Choe recounts the case of SteveHickey—a social media influencer and former fire commissioner who illegally occupied a million-dollar home for nearly a year, using legal loopholes and bankruptcy filings to evade eviction. The rightful homeowner? Homeless. Thesystem? Broken.Takeaways:This gripping episode is a must-listen for anyone concernedabout justice, safety, and the social contract. It doesn't just diagnose the problem—it demands that we rethink what real public safety looks like, who enforces it, and what happens when they don't.This podcast is for informational purposes only and notprofessional advice. On October 11th, 1923, deep in Tunnel 13 high in the Siskiyou mountains of Oregon, four men were killed in a train robbery gone wrong. The trio responsible, the DeAutremont brothers, had planned the crime and dreamed of stealing their way to a life of riches but made a series of fatal mistakes that would haunt them forever. What has gone down in Pacific Northwest history as “the last great American train robbery” is also recognized as the birth of modern American forensic criminology. All Home Care Matters and our host, Lance A. Slatton were honored to welcome the founders of Activity Connection as our guests. Today, Activity Connection supports thousands of activity directors and eldercare staff with a comprehensive library of digital tools, including monthly calendars, cognitive fitness resources, multicultural content, sensory stimulation programs and customizable printables. The platform continues to innovate while staying true to the Ewalds' founding mission: to empower caregivers and bring joy, dignity and connection to the lives of older adults. About Nancy Ewald: Nancy Ewald holds a Bachelor of Science in medical technology and a Master of Science in allied health education. Her early “activities” involved teaching microbiology and working with test tubes, pipettes and Bunsen burners. However, while taking time off to raise three children and care for two ailing seniors, Nancy discovered her true passion and made a midlife career change. She returned to the workforce as an assistant activity director for a full-service senior community. Her innovative programming quickly gained recognition, leading her to author six manuals for national providers and eventually serve as a national director overseeing training and program development for 170 communities across all levels of care. Motivated to solve the everyday challenges she had seen firsthand, Nancy left the corporate world and devoted herself to expanding Activity Connection into the robust platform it is today. She now lives in Winter Garden, Florida, where she enjoys spending time in her garden—her personal escape and creative inspiration. About Doug Ewald: Doug Ewald, a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in studio arts and art history, spent nearly a decade in retail business management within the popular media arts industry. A lifelong enthusiast of computers and digital media, Doug recognized early on the internet's potential to transform how information and resources could be accessed and shared. In 1999, he built the first iteration of the Activity Connection website. Since then, Doug has served as CEO, leading the company's growth into a trusted, widely used digital platform that now benefits more than 1.5 million seniors each month. He lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and two children. About Bob Ewald: Bob Ewald joined Activity Connection part-time in 2003. After retiring a few years later from the corporate world, he stepped into the role of full-time chief financial officer. A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in accounting (Bob, Doug and Nancy are all proud Hoosier alumni), Bob worked as a certified public accountant in the insurance industry for 36 years. He welcomed the shift from large corporations to small business life, knowing his work was making a direct difference. Bob is an avid history buff and enjoys chasing his grandchildren around the playground. About Activity Connection: Activity Connection is a trusted leader in life enrichment programming, serving nearly 20,000 senior living communities. Each month, the platform delivers over 400 original, high-quality resources across nearly 40 categories—including themed activities, crafts, games, trivia, reminiscence programs, Montessori-based engagement, lifelong learning, virtual travel experiences, holiday celebrations, and more. While many programs are designed for broad community engagement, versions of select activities are specially created for those in memory care. These thoughtfully developed resources help promote connection and purpose for residents at varying ability levels. Many also encourage intergenerational engagement, providing meaningful opportunities for families and volunteers to participate.
