Tech Marketing - Build a Brand like Steve Jobs & Apple to Elon Musk & Tesla + PT Barnum's Impact AZ TRT S05 EP43 (259) 11-17-2024 What We Learned This Week: PT Barnum the original Greatest Showman who understood the power of brand & advertising Apple Iphone release in 2007, big event w/ 1st smartphone Apple commercial Think Different, celebrate change Tesla EV Car is a marvel of tech, customer support & service + order online only Tesla $0 ad budget - use social, word of mouth, referrals, clean energy mission, & the following of an iconic Founder Seg 1 - Tech Marketing - Apple PT Barnum is considered the original entrepreneur and showman. He was all about hype and creating big spectacles. He understand very early on the power of PR and the press. He knew he had to capture the public in interest with his posters and advertising. He promoted the extraordinary to arouse people's curiosity to go see his shows. Truly understood the audience and how to create a hook. His infamous museum, with the Fiji mermaid and Tom Thumb and the dog man. Barnum was adaptive and innovative, changing his show from the museum to the circus. He was not afraid to be outspoken or controversial. He just wanted press and promotion. Power of brand and Apple was able to build a $3 trillion company because people identify with their brand. Steve Jobs - Unique and outspoken founder who believed it was all about the product, and making the best products. He also believed in simplicity, easy to use customer centric product. Knew how to demo a product. Apple was all about the presentation and their events were covered yearly by the press. Key moment was in 2007 with the introduction of the iPhone. Steve Jobs talked about having a phone, I pod and the internet. What if this could all be in one device and then introduced the first smart phone. Apple built their brand as the young cool hip company for creatives. It was the McIntosh graphics card that originally attracted people to their products in the 1980s. Jobs was all about ease of use making a product simple. He would literally have kids test the products to see if it was too complicated. Jobs stressed simplicity, and focus. Make the best looking and sleekest products . He himself was also very simple, wearing the same black shirt and jeans every day so you didn't have to think about what to wear. This was an Einstein trick. Understood the power of advertising. The original 1984 Super Bowl ad was a play on the book 1984 and smashing the status quo with a sledgehammer to introduce the Apple Macintosh They had a big ad campaign in 1997 with thanking and celebrating all the eccentric rebel misfits, the change people like Einstein and Picasso and Gandhi. This positioned Apple with these iconic figures. Apple had the ‘Shot on iPhone' campaign with a show versus tell method. People could see the videos and how good they were and how good the camera was on the iPhone. Then the early 2000 ‘I am a PC, I am a Mac' campaign. Where the PC was seen is an old stuffy guy with glasses wearing a suit vs the young hip Mac. Apples products cost more but the customers who are actually fans do not care. It's almost like a cult with diehard fans just loving the brand and wanting to be part of the community. They identify with the Apple brand. There are actually more Android phone users, 3 billion users vs Iphone users of 1 billion. In the US iPhone is more popular with a 60% share, vs a 30% share in the entire world. Apple is concerned with how good their products are spending billions on R&D, but also the look and design of products. Even the un-boxing of a Apple product. Constantly clean and simple. Even the Apple stores are very clean and easy to walk about. Steve Jobs set the tone in Apple with the product, focus on the customer, be product centric. Keep it simple and build a great brand. Ironically, Jobs did not work with consultants, nor did he ever do a survey to customers for product ideas. It's like he knew his customers better than them, and gave them the next generation hottest product. Seg 2 – Tech Marketing - Tesla https://www.tesla.com/we-robot Tesla company with a $1 trillion valuation that spend $0 on their ad budget. It is pretty amazing that they are the biggest EV car maker in the world with a 50% market share in the US and 20% market share worldwide. Tesla actually had a 75% share in 2022, it has dropped a little. They sell 1.8 million cars worldwide per year, and the total EV car sales in the world is 14 million. There is some smaller EV car makers who are considered rivals - Rivian, Lucid and Volvo / Polarstar, and they only have a 5% market share. Car makers, GM, Honda Nissan, Volkswagen, and Hyundai combined have like a 30% market share in the US. 1 in 4 new cars sold in 2023 was an EV, and currently EV is about 6.8% of US cars. Tesla is all about brand and identity. Just like Apple, their customers connect with the brand. Tesla is obsessed with customer experience and service Their cars are a marvel of technology and easy to use. They're also connected to your phone and send you alerts when you need service on your car. Tesla is consistent in their messaging. They have a zero dollar $0 ad budget, and spread the word about their online promotion, word-of-mouth, and social media. Their founder Elon Musk is outspoken and not afraid of controversy. He has millions of followers online and tweet from him can change the Tesla stock price. Tesla owns all distribution, they have no franchises. You cannot go into a dealership for buy your car. You have to shop online and order the car. One huge advantage of this is people do not like buying cars at dealerships. Tesla also has a big referral system for promoting and selling cars. They use huge launch events and promotions to create hype. They are also on a mission to be a clean energy company, not just the EV, but solar and the battery energy. Customers of Tesla have an identity with this brand and their mission of clean energy. Tesla future plans involve AI and autonomous vehicles AKA the Robo taxi. As well as the Robo van to deliver goods.They also have the Tesla bot a robot that is expected to cost $25 grand, and be a serving around the house. Tesla has done stunts and promotions, even creating a flamethrower that was sold. Tesla is all about the software, open source so even their competitors can look at what they're doing. Kristen Berman co-founded Irrational Labs, a behavioral product design company, with Dan Ariely in 2013. Irrational Labs helps companies and nonprofits understand and leverage behavioral economics to increase the health, wealth and happiness of their users. In this episode, Kristen explores the intricacies of pricing strategies, emphasizing the importance of understanding behavioral economics to influence consumer decisions effectively. She discusses how techniques like the decoy effect, anchoring, and the power of price endings (like 99 cents) can drive customer behavior. Additionally, she highlights the challenges of pricing revolutionary products due to the lack of reference points and the creative approaches needed to establish them in the market. Why you have to check out today's podcast: Deep dive into pricing strategies like the Good-Better-Best model, the Decoy Effect, and the psychology behind price ending to help you understand how to make pricing decisions that drive customer behaviors and increase sales. Find out valuable perspectives on how human psychology influences purchasing decisions which is essential for anyone looking to optimize their pricing or marketing strategies. Discover practical advice and real-world examples to see how you can apply these concepts to your own business. "It's all relative. So, what are customers using as a reference point? If it's off your product site, then you need to help them create a new reference point within your product site." - Kristen Berman Topics Covered: 01:14 - Sharing how she transitioned into behavioral economics from her role as a product manager at Intuit 03:42 - How behavioral science tie to pricing and product 06:10 - An example of how behavioral economics influence product decisions 08:50 - Explaining the concept of the "paradox of choice" 11:35 - Turning the path of least resistance into the preferred choice 14:30 - Simplifying decision-making for customers with the concept of "good, better, best" product offerings 16:42 - Explaining the decoy effect and how it influences consumer decision-making 19:09 - The reason behind the presentation of pricing options in the context of behavioral economics 22:43 - The concept of framing in sales in the context of product features and the importance of trials in subscription-based models 25:25 - How people often rely on heuristics, or mental shortcuts, when making decisions about prices 28:56 - Kristen's best pricing advice 29:28 - Various sources of reference points 31:19 - The challenge of pricing revolutionary products due to the lack of existing reference points Key Takeaways: "People don't come in with an understanding of the exact thing that they want to purchase at the exact moment. And so, our job is to help them understand value, and choice helps people understand value." - Kristen Berman "We're using the heuristics on how big the number is to make a lot of fairness decisions." - Kristen Berman "We are relative creatures. We have reference points and we use our reference points to understand value. And so, it's not just the price, it's the reference point that we're using." - Kristen Berman People/Resources Mentioned: Intuit: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com Dan Ariely: https://danariely.com/all-about-dan/ One Medical: https://www.onemedical.com Steve Jobs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jobs Apple: https://www.apple.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com Netflix: https://www.netflix.com/ Study: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thesoundagency.study&hl=en_ZA&pli=1Shopify: https://www.shopify.com/ph Connect with Kristen Berman: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristenberman/ Connect with Mark Stiving: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/ Email: mark@impactpricing.com

Our great managers are driven from their goals and when they lose their position or become over 50 years, they die…This is great for our pension and health system and for the widows… An old statistic shows that 80% of the wealth is in the hand of the widows in the USA….And our society, even supports this… Steve Jobs (Apple founder), Bruce Lee are the great heroes for mainly all people… But these great heroes have never enjoyed their lives and were driven from their unhealthy Appeal/Recognition/Fame addiction…For the psychology is that a disease of Insanity, Work-alcoholic or/and Megalomania…Have these great managers lovely and healthy relationships?For instance, Jacki Chan the most successful and highest paid action actor… I don't know what is love… For me is most important to be famous…Psychology: A healthy person needs to love himself.Our society is driven to compensate our lack of self-love with worldly things like:Money, fame, goods, sex, drugs and Rock N Roll.If we would love ourselves, we would not run after worldly things, would be happy with what we already have and need… and luxury, like smartphone… would be not appealing to us…It is hardly to convince a high-profile manager to live a healthy lifestyle with healthy relationships and without huge stress…Because these managers need their trill to be very important, - Lack of self-love..For them is most important to be very important and to have as much as possible power over people and the environment… The famous Psychotherapist Alfred Adler has proved that the very strong desires to be very important and to have very much power over people are caused through deep rooted minority feelings. Most of the politicians have severe minority feelings so they try to compensate that, with power over people and to be very important. Makes sense! And they are greedy for money, wealth, luxury - and that is substituted satisfaction.They want everything under their control, so also their entire life… Space for spontaneity and love is not in their planes… If they fail in one area of their life they feel like failures and so try to compensate that with their business life…And what is missing? Love…All you need is love! My Video: Manager disease or suicide? https://youtu.be/bxsBmpsRGD0My Audio: https://divinesuccess.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/Podcast1/Manager-disease-or-suicide.mp3

How Steve Jobs Helped Guarantee Tim Cook's Success At Apple Last week, Tim Cook celebrated his anniversary of being Apple s CEO. He assumed this role before Steve Job s death and has done what my British friends would be called a Bang-Up job. The two charts below show exactly how successful Cook has been since he took over the CEO role. Apple s market cap went from billion to trillion in those ten years. And Apple s share price grew tenfold under his leadership. Apple s share price growth under Tim Cook's leadership for the last ten years. When Tim Cook took over as CEO, I was bombarded with media and other industry requests about Cook and was asked if I thought he could be successful. I went on record on both TV and in print saying that Tim Cook was not only the right person to take this role, but that I was extremely bullish about his success potential. I was certain of this because I had a strong knowledge of Job's role of preparing Cook for the CEO position. I got a lot of negative feedback for my viewpoint, and those who remember this time saw a lot of negative commentary about Cook that neither he nor anybody else could replace Steve Jobs.

ดล Blog เพิ่มเติมได้ที่ Fanpage : www.facebook.com/tharadhol.blog Blockdit : www.blockdit.com/tharadhol.blog Twitter : www.twitter.com/tharadhol Instragram : instragram.com/tharadhol TikTok : tiktok.com/@geek.forever Youtube : www.youtube.com/c/mrtharadhol Linkedin : www.linkedin.com/in/tharadhol Website : www.tharadhol.com
Our great managers are driven from their goals and when they lose their position or become over 50 years, they die…This is great for our pension and health system and for the widows… An old statistic shows that 80% of the wealth is in the hand of the widows in the USA….And our society, even supports this… Steve Jobs (Apple founder), Bruce Lee are the great heroes for mainly all people… But these great heroes have never enjoyed their lives and were driven from their unhealthy Appeal/Recognition/Fame addiction…For the psychology is that a disease of Insanity, Work-alcoholic or/and Megalomania…Have these great managers lovely and healthy relationships?For instance, Jacki Chan the most successful and highest paid action actor… I don’t know what is love… For me is most important to be famous…Psychology: A healthy person needs to love himself.Our society is driven to compensate our lack of self-love with worldly things like:Money, fame, goods, sex, drugs and Rock N Roll.If we would love ourselves, we would not run after worldly things, would be happy with what we already have and need… and luxury, like smartphone… would be not appealing to us…It is hardly to convince a high-profile manager to live a healthy lifestyle with healthy relationships and without huge stress…Because these managers need their trill to be very important, - Lack of self-love..For them is most important to be very important and to have as much as possible power over people and the environment… The famous Psychotherapist Alfred Adler has proved that the very strong desires to be very important and to have very much power over people are caused through deep rooted minority feelings. I’ve never been a fan of the idea of considering myself a “personal brand”. When I hear that term I always think of people who either just want to be famous, are egotistical or simply completely narcissistic. The reality is, a personal brand is the story you use to connect yourself with your audience. Your personal brand is the way they see you. The way you put yourself out to your audience. We all have a personal brand, the difference is, not all of us realize that we need to own and protect our brand. The personal brand story of the business owner is often what connects consumers with their product or service. Great examples of personal brands that are bigger than their product brands would be Elon Musk (Tesla), Steve Jobs (Apple) or Sarah Blakely (Spanx). The story of their vision, their why, their steps to make it happen, transcend the products that they are known for. What is the personal story that you’re sharing with your audience? What piece of your genius are you sharing with your audience? In the end, it’s your story, your path, your genius that sets you apart from everyone else in the market. When creating your personal brand, you want to consider many things. Your personal interests, your ‘why’ of what you do and of course the business itself. You want to ensure they connect in some way. If you have contradicting brands (stories), it will leave your audience confused, and unsure if they can trust you. The four top secrets to creating a personal brand are: 1: Compelling Content that Resonates, You want to find the content that resonates with your audience. You want to use content to connect and resonate with your audience. 2: Build Meaningful Connections, your audience wants to be connected. They want to know that you aren’t perfect, that you are just like them - but perhaps a few steps ahead. They want to know what you do or sell is attainable to them, even if it requires a stretch. 3: Get in front of the Camera, this is a hard one for almost everyone I coach. We all have our fears and concerns about what we look, sound or move like. Getting in front of a camera allows our audience to connect with us on another level. People do business with people, not businesses or logos, getting in front of the camera allows you to humanize you. 4: Consistency, no matter how you connect, what platform you use or how you convey your content, do it consistently. It doesn’t matter how good your content is, if you aren’t consistent with the delivery, they won’t remember you or worse yet, won’t trust you if they do remember you. I got pissed off when my business partner got disengaged into reading an autobiography of someone... The reason I went bonkers wasn't because he was wasting time but because I didn't get why someone would be so obsessed with reading autobiographies of dead people Just didn't make sense until... ...recently writing a piece of tribute for my grandma who passed on. It felt as if the universe was whispering into my ears. For the last 4 weeks now, I've been overly obsessed with reading autobiographies that I've spent 200 cedis buying books related to this topic. Richard Branson (The Virgin billionaire)... Steve Jobs (Apple)... and a few others... But, you might be asking, how does getting obsessed with autobiographies help me to make more money, make an impact and live a legacy for your generation? Listen in on this week's episode to find out and why you should develop an obsession to it as well...Don't forget to stay Arisen!!!

Is post-secondary education necessary for entrepreneurs? It seems like many of the industry’s great innovators might think otherwise. Steve Jobs (Apple), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Bill Gates (Microsoft), Michael Dell (Dell), Evan Williams (Twitter) and Travis Kalanick (Uber) all share the same education journey -- one that ends in dropping out of school. Should aspiring entrepreneurs follow in the footsteps of these successful innovators? Or are there other ways to find success in the business world? This week on BridgingTheGap, Ollie Forsyth and John Fistolera will come together to discuss the best ways for youth to get started on their business career or entrepreneurial journey. Now an 18-year-old entrepreneur, as well as CEO of the Budding Entrepreneur Magazine, Ollie Forsyth left school at age 16 to pursue his entrepreneurial goals. John Fistolera on the other hand, is the Assistant Executive Director of Corporate and External Affairs at DECA, who works to improve business education in school. This week, John and Ollie will discuss whether a formal business education is necessary for entrepreneurs, or if there are other avenues entrepreneurs can take to start a business.

to work off... = to get rid of... I don't gotta take the time to call you fat. Your mirror already calls you that every morning when it shows you your reflection! backsides おしり to get in shape シェイプアップする to be into... … They'll be into you just like all those Twinkies you just downed before we came into here. to be mean 意地悪な言動をとる If you ate Caesar himself it probably wouldn't fill up your black hole of a stomach. な体格の」(例:strongly/powerfully built)。 You got it going on. What do you say we go have dinner together? What do you say we…? I would really like that!” go have dinner”は"go and have dinner"と同じ意味で「夕食を食べに行く」。 Hey hot girl babe. You got it going on. to work out 運動(ワークアウト)をする I’m paying. ※It’s on me.やIt’s my treat. a total wimp ビビり Maybe if you lost a thousand pounds and found a personality that doesn't stink like a pair of your mom's dirty socks, you may actually have a chance with some of the women that come here. *** Script *** In the Gym M: Alright Lilly, let's get ripped! W: Max, I'm not here to get ripped. I just want to do some elliptical for a few months to work off my Freshman 15. M: Ha ha. In your case, it's more like the Freshman 55? Ha ha. W: Hey, are you calling me fat? M: Listen: I don't gotta take the time to call you fat. Your mirror already calls you that every morning when it shows you your reflection! W: Agh! Whatever, Max. While YOU'RE standing in the corner staring at girls' backsides, I'm gonna be on the elliptical actually getting myself in shape. I may be fat now, but in a few months every guy at this school will be into me. M: Sure, Lilly, they'll be into you just like all those Twinkies you just downed before we came into here. Seriously, what haven't you eaten!? W: Now you're just being mean, Max! You and I both know all I had for lunch today was a Caesar salad. M: Caesar salad? If you ate Caesar himself it probably wouldn't fill up your black hole of a stomach! (Lilly is approached by an insanely-built body builder.) M2: Hey, girl, you got it going on. What do you say we go have dinner together? W: Um… I would really like that! M: What? Why would he ask out someone like you? That's unfair! (Max finds the nearest girl and approaches her.) M: Hey hotty girl babe. Wanna go do McDonald's with me after this work out, I'm paying! (Girl walks away.) M2: Um, buddy, you actually thought you had a chance with a girl like her? I hate to say it but, you're a total wimp! Maybe if you lost a thousand pounds and found a personality that doesn't stink like a pair of your mom's dirty socks, you may actually have a chance with some of the women that come here. M: No! I'm good-looking! No, it can't be true! Ladies love me! (Written by David Shaner)

See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
