This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWOIn the early 1900s, Boyd was a thriving rural town, home to more than 500 residents. Today, fewer than 200 remain—and one house continues to draw attention for reasons that can't be explained. Known locally as the Boyd House, the home has become the center of persistent paranormal activity tied to its former occupants and the life that once filled its rooms.Stories surrounding the house point to Fred and Minnie Eckhardt and their eleven children, raising questions about whether remnants of that family still linger within the walls. Footsteps, voices, and unexplained activity suggest the home may not have fully let go of its past. Our guest, Jill Shelley, has spent years investigating the unexplained with St. Croix Paranormal. In 2018, she purchased the Boyd House, intentionally stepping into a lifelong goal of owning a haunted property. Today, the home is open year-round to investigators seeking their own encounters with the unexplained.#TheGraveTalks #BoydHouse #HauntedMinnesota #RealGhostStories #ParanormalPodcast #SmallTownHaunting #MidwestHaunts #TrueHauntings #ParanormalInvestigation Love real ghost stories? This week Rod and Steve tell the story of a gang of robbers who cast a long shadow over Ashe County, North Carolina in the unsettled years after the Civil War. One by one they fell, until only Linville Eller remained. He, too, met his fate in 1890 after a massive manhunt. This is the story of the Eller Gang, led by brothers Linville and Henry Eller, the North Carolina high country's most notorious 19th-century outlaws, another one of the Stories of Appalachia. Most of these events occurred in my bedroom at night, but increasingly I had minor experiences out and about in daytime, such as faint crawling and shuffling sensations on my head and face. I tried on all the ‘normal' explanations – creaking old house, wind, sleep paralysis, hypnogogia, etc. – but none of them were a fit for most of what I experienced. I was left to conclude that I had a poltergeist. Believing that ghosts or unwanted spirits were the cause of the problem and watching ghost-related media made me afraid… and that fear made it much worse. This weekend marks one year since the deadly Eaton Fire was contained. From the moment the fire first broke out, reporter Steven Cuevas began talking to his neighbors, to business owners, and other people who make up the fabric of this vibrant community, and we've featured those stories on our show ever since. Host Sasha Khokha joins Steven as they revisit some of those neighbors, including a 94-year-old therapist whose home was saved by her sons, a renter who lost her home of 15 years, and an artist who is working on a community art project as she waits for the right time to rebuild. Despite the devastation, for some people, the fire brought about a stronger sense of connection to the place they call home. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

"The Expedition of Hernando de Soto" was written by his companion Luis Hernandez de Biedma. "When we arrived, the queen sent us one of her nieces, in a litter carried by Indians. She sent the governor a present of a necklace of beads, canoes to cross the river with, and gave us half the village to lodge in. The governor opened a large temple built in the woods, in which was buried the chiefs of the country, and took from it a quantity of pearls, amounting to six or seven arrobes, which were spoiled by being buried in the ground. We dug up two Spanish axes, a chaplet of wild olive seed, and some small beads, resembling those we had brought from Spain for the purpose of trading with the Indians. We conjectured they had obtained these things by trading with the companions of Vasquez de Ayllon. The Indians told us the sea was only about thirty leagues distant." This week in Louisiana history. You don't often see a book launch feel like a collective exhale. This recording is from the Montreal launch of The Forgiveness Experiment, featuring the author Rabbi Yisroel Bernath in conversation with Ilana Zackon.Ilana Zackon, an award-winning actor, writer, and filmmaker. Together, they dive into the heart of the book: why forgiveness matters, how it changes us, and what it means to live with open hearts even in a fractured world. Expect laughter, honesty, vulnerability, and plenty of inspiration.Held in the days leading up to Yom Kippur, this wasn't just a discussion about forgiveness, it was an exploration of freedom. Together, Rabbi Bernath and Ilana unpack the heart of The Forgiveness Experiment:Why forgiveness isn't about excusing harm. Why it's not spiritual bypassing. And why, sometimes, forgiveness is the bravest form of self-respect.What unfolds is honest, funny, vulnerable, and deeply human. Stories are shared. Assumptions are challenged. And the room slowly softens. This conversation and the book weaves together Jewish wisdom, lived experience, and psychological insight, offering a grounded, compassionate approach to letting go of pain without losing your truth. If you've ever wondered: Why is forgiveness so hard? Is it possible to forgive without minimizing what happened? What if forgiveness is something I do for myself, not for them? This conversation is for you.Since that night, The Forgiveness Experiment has become a #1 bestseller on Amazon, and Rabbi Bernath has traveled across North America sharing its message.Recorded live at the Montreal Book Launch at Rohr Chabad NDG on September 28, 2025Filmed and recorded by Yehuda ChicheAvailable now:Paperback (US): https://www.amazon.com/Forgiveness-Experiment-What-Would-Your/dp/1069217638Paperback (Canada): https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1069217638Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FR2QNJL6It's also available on Amazon just about everywhere else, UK, Australia, Europe... Patrick welcomes listeners into lively national discussions about immigration, where real calls spark flashes of emotion and candid debate. Stories of border crossings, law enforcement pressures, political motives, and everyday struggles collide as Patrick weaves tough questions about justice, compassion, and faith into every exchange. He pushes for honest talk, highlighting on-the-ground realities and his own family history, refusing to let political talking points drown out the lived complexities shaping the issue. Audio: President Obama in 2010 shoots down the whole "stop deportations and just let the illegal immigrants be" argument that the Democrat party is currently pushing. - https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2016146909245665336?s=20 (00:21) Mark – Patrick, I want to compliment you on how you are handling yourself regarding ICE. (05:18) Chris - I remember that whistling has been happening since Obama and Clinton. I think that more people without convictions are being held. I also have issues with how they are training ICE. (09:41) Rico - ICE is being subjected to abuse because people hate Trump. They are using Hispanics. I feel used. (17:57) Courtney - I think Covid and propaganda broke people's minds and that is why people are protesting. (20:43) Doug - Are people looking into organization Indivisible? I asked protestors to go onto public property. I asked them who they were with and they said Indivisible. (24:03) Carlos - People come over illegally but some do come here to escape murder or alcoholism. I fall into this category. How do we fix this? (29:47) Elizabeth - I think we are not thinking outside of the box. Caravans were sent here and are now organized. We see this affecting legal immigrants who are here. Maybe this is how they will take away rights from people. We have to be vigilant. (39:22) Kathleen - I think we don't have the ability to help the poor who need help because of all the illegal immigrants that come here. (45:14) Carla - Trump is a big organizer too. He out organized Dems. Both sides are doing it. (48:26)

Where do we actually place ourselves in the stories we tell about courage, faith, and power? In this solo episode, Corey reflects on how individuals and communities locate themselves within history, scripture, and national memory. The temptation, especially among those shaped by religious or moral traditions, is to imagine oneself as prophetic rather than complicit, as a resister rather than an enabler. History, however, is rarely judged by intention or self identification. It is judged by outcomes, by who benefited, who was harmed, and who paid the price. Drawing on personal encounters, Christian history, and contemporary political examples, the episode examines how moral cosplay replaces moral courage, how grievance masquerades as righteousness, and how constitutional principles become conditional when filtered through tribal identity. The reflection closes with a sober question. Not who we admire in the story, but who we actually resemble when power, fear, and consequence converge. Galen Clavio is joined by special guest Grace Ybarra to relive the unforgettable CFP National Championship weekend in Miami—the 48-hour blur of events, fan moments, stadium chaos, and the emotional whiplash of watching Indiana win it all. They walk through everything from the Homefield events (including the packed night at Mickey Burkes with Straight No Chaser) to the American Social gathering on game day, the tailgating scene outside Hard Rock Stadium, and what it was like inside the building as Indiana pulled off the championship win over Miami. Most importantly, this episode is about the feeling: what it's like to experience a once-in-a-lifetime sports moment alongside other Hoosiers, meet strangers who instantly become friends, and realize—slowly, then all at once—that Indiana football really became national champions.

There have been over 400 versions of Mary Shelley's saga, but Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein (2025), brings multiple viewpoints, as well as a new twist. It also raises the question of why this story continues to be told. Does it hold a larger meaning, or is it just a good monster tale? In the last episode of On Hand, we dug into why people in Michigan say “ope.” And we found that “ope” likely traces back to European immigrants who settled in the Midwest—long before Midwesternisms were ever a thing. Since then, we’ve heard from a few of you who say our Michigan way of speaking is about much more than just “ope". Today, we’re diving into the Michigan accent, in all its glory. The most compelling interviews don't start when you hit record. They start before your guest ever shows up. Today, we're talking about why pre-interviews are not extra work. They are more like insurance. We walk through how a short pre-interview can prevent awkward moments, poor energy, and the dreaded moment when your guest drifts off topic. This conversation is especially helpful for newer podcasters booking guests and for experienced hosts who want smoother, more focused interviews. To wrap up the week, we take a moment to share the wins happening in our community, no matter how big or small.Episode Highlights: [01:44] Why pre-interviews matter[03:42] Key elements of effective pre-interviews[04:01] Personal experiences using pre-interviews[07:24] Handling sensitive topics with care[17:59] Common challenges and best practices[27:45] Supporting nervous or long-winded guests[28:47] Maintaining energy during recordings[31:33] Making smart adjustments in real time[40:11] Celebrating WinsLinks & Resources: The Podcasting Morning Chat: www.podpage.com/pmcJoin The Empowered Podcasting Facebook Group:www.facebook.com/groups/empoweredpodcastingEmpowered Podcasting Conference 3: Use discount code ‘Podfest26' to get your ticket for under $200: https://empoweredpodcasting.comApplication To Submit Your Show For Evaluation: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8-Xv6O6lrNPcPJwj3N0Z5Osdl-5kHGz_PiAU45U57S-XgoA/viewform?usp=headerRemember to rate, follow, share, and review our podcast. We sit down with Randy Taylor—runner, coach, and creator of Team 816 Run Club—for our ten-question Runner Stories spotlight. Randy traces his pivot from the wrestling mat to the roads and trails, and how that competitive grit shaped a coaching style built on consistency, community, and smart stress. He opens up about chasing speed later in life, including a 4:57 mile at age 39 and a 2:40 marathon at Chicago, and how those lessons translate for everyday runners. We dig into the ultra toolbox too: fueling, pacing, and mental resets from a 14:29 hundred at Tunnel Hill and a scorching 3:35 50K on gravel. Randy shares what he looks for when writing plans, the red flags he shuts down early, and the simple cues he gives athletes on workout days vs. easy days. We talk Team 816's origin story, why group culture beats lone-wolf heroics, and how to welcome first-timers without scaring them off. Most of all, this is a conversation about building durable joy in the sport, whether you're gunning for a PR or finishing with friends.

This week, we're traveling across Asia and diving into some of the most unsettling paranormal experiences we've ever heard. Our listeners share spine-chilling stories rooted in cultural folklore and lived terror—tales of spirits who predict the future, impersonate loved ones, and inflict physical harm. Between the laughter, the disbelief, and the full-body chills, this episode reminded us why some ghost stories stay with you long after the episode ends. Stories include: An encounter in rural Pakistan where a possessed girl speaks in a jinn's voice—and accurately predicts a devastating medical diagnosis A haunted family home in Cebu where something mimics loved ones so perfectly it carries on 20-minute conversations A terrifying childhood experience in Vietnam involving a crying woman in a church, prophetic dreams, and a ghostly warning that may have saved a life A Malaysian family spirit passed down through generations, bound to a dagger that mysteriously disappears, reappears, and may be choosing its next owner Watch the video version here. Have ghost stories of your own? E-mail them to us at twogirlsoneghostpodcast@gmail.com New Episodes are released every Thursday and Sunday at 12am PST/3am EST (the witching hour, of course). Corinne and Sabrina hand select a couple of paranormal encounters from our inbox to read in each episode, from demons, to cryptids, to aliens, to creepy kids... the list goes on and on. A New Hampshire town finds out its water has been contaminated by a chemical. The most basic question — whether the water is safe to drink — doesn't have a clear answer. Nobody seems to know much about this so-called forever chemical, which is weird… because all of this has all happened before. From the Document team at New Hampshire Public Radio, Safe to Drink is a four-part series about a water contamination story that keeps repeating in town after town — and about the people who fought for answers through a maze of chemistry, regulations, and illnesses. You can binge the whole series now: subscribe to Safe to Drink on Apple Podcasts, or check out their page on NHPR's website. Reported by Mara Hoplamazian.
