GST has traditionally been both of our favorite Pantera record because of it's insane vibe but FBD might objectively be their best record. I think the grime and vulnerability of FBD influenced the nu metal movement. Here we see Phil's lyrical perspective shift from detached aggro bro word salad to intense, sincere, vulnerable, and outright uncomfortable honesty. By using different vocal styles and harsher screams Phil paves the way for the next 10-15 years of mainstream metal music. Vinnie permanently etches his name into the history of metal drumming by expanding the vocabulary to places that people still haven't really caught up to. Dime gets weird af and establishes himself as a legit legend. And the unsung hero, Rex, holds in all together. Above all both of these records are creative and artistic statements. Anyway, I'm gonna stop typing because I have too much to say, so take a listen.

Recent data suggest South India as one of the regions with highest suicide rates in the world. In 2013, 134,799 people committed suicide in India according to the statistics released by the National Crime Records Bureau. Suicide note is one of the most important sources to understand suicide, which may be beneficial in suicide prevention. Studies on suicidal notes from this part of the world are sparse. The aim was to study the themes in suicide notes that might be useful in prevention strategies. It wasn't until  attending The University of Houston that Lou took up acting again.  Although, the "bug" for acting had been dormant it had never left.  After graduating with a BA in Communications, Lou landed a leading role in the smash off-broadway show "Tony and Tina's Wedding".  Since then Lou has consistently appeared on stage, in Television and Film. Lou's latest TV credits include Guest and Recurring Roles on such hit shows as, HBO"s "The Deuce" opposite James Franco, "Sneaky Pete," opposite Giovanni Ribisi, "Crashing", "Vinyl", "Orange is The New Black", and "Girls".   One of Lou's most recognizable  characters was the loveable eye glass doctor "Anthony Infante" on the last season of HBO"s "The Sopranos," which garnered the cast a SAG award nomination for best ensemble.  Another notable TV credit was as host for one of the first network reality shows, "The Gastineau Girls."Some of Lou's last film roles include, "Alto" opposite Annabella Sciorra, "West End," Opposite Eric Roberts, and "Redemption," opposite James Macaffery.  Lou won the prestigious best actor award  at Nation's 4th biggest film festival Houston World Fest, for his portrayal of a down on his luck theatre director...and devout nudist...in the dark comedy  "Suicide Notes."  Lou is set to produce and star in 2 of his original screenplays, the first called  "Honor" sometime next spring - an 80's drama that centers around a family of cops driven by secrets, torn apart by lies, longing for a way out but bound by Honor. Ultimately a story that searches for redemption in the depths of our darkest secrets while finding ones true identity. The Suicide Notes ooze gutter-trash rock n' roll. Low-slung buzzsaw guitars and raw nicotine-soaked vocals, rock 'n' roll swagger, and whiskey on the rocks; the illegitimate sons of punk and sleaze, conceived on a bed of red wine, cigarettes, and back alley attitude. Born under the bad sign of guttercat rock n' roll in 2019, the band swiftly secured management and a sponsorship deal with Cloven Hoof Rum before launching two acoustic singles - which have had continuous radio play since their release in July 2019. These were soon followed up with a third well received single 'Momma Sang The Blues' and the release of their debut acoustic and electric 'Pleasures Of Despair' EPs. These gained rave reviews across the board and the band were No.1 on Only Rock Radio in Spain, and No. 16 across all stations on the Radio Indie Alliance Top 40. The gig calendar for 2020 was all-but wiped out by the Covid 19 pandemic, but not before the band had garnered stellar reviews for their debut gig at London's Hope & Anchor, and for performances at the Dublin Castle, Camden's Unicorn, and Dementia Aware Fest in Wolverhampton. Securing a new management deal with Forge A.M.P and adding the extra sonic assault of second guitarist Danny Gould, the Suicide Notes were widely acknowledged as one of the Day 1 highlights of the rescheduled HRH Sleaze 2021, along with a number of festival appearances, support slots with Last Great Dreamers, Healthy Junkies ans a bunch of headline shows. 2022 sees a return to Hard Rock Hell with a headline appearance at HRH AOR, a support slot with ‘Greatest Rock n' Roll Band In The World' Supersuckers, and festival appearances at RoadRage, CC7 XIII Shades of Black, Mayors Fest, and a third Punk n' Roll Rendezvous, plus a return to multiple Dementia Fest 2021 events. The issue of men's mental health is a big concern, and it is seen as a major cause of the current suicide rate. Men generally have less support and less empathy than women. This makes them more prone to negative emotions, double standards of life, and they are more likely to commit suicide, especially in our society where they are not allowed to express their feelings. No gentleman was to feel screwed up and to stay within the societal expectation; most are locked up in their emotional trauma and suffering in silence. They need help to let go and heal. Join the conversation with Vincent Osborne as he shares his life up and down, transition, and how he got into poetry in the ‘Let's Drop Suicide Rate' Space. Vincent is an author and a poet. YA dealing with survivors of sexual abuse/pedophilia/other childhood trauma: some of my favorites that I’ve read are Sadie, Girl in Pieces, Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls, Perks of Being a Wallflower and Speak. Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson; Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough; The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith; Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn; How Dare the Sun Rise by Sandra Uwiringyimana; Wrecked by Maria Padian; Infandous by Elana K. Arnold; In The Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado. A YA book to get my friend who doesn’t really read….p.s. she really likes Disney. Disney’s Twisted Tales; Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige; Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo; Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee. One of my high school students likes mysteries and fantasy novels, but doesn’t like any “kissing” (i.e. lots of romance or a focus on a relationship). What suggestions could I give her? Goldie Vance: The Hotel Whodunit by Lilliam Rivera; Endangered by Lamar Giles; Jennifer Lynn Barnes; Karen M. McManus; Complicit by Stephanie Kuehn. A book for my 16 year old nephew who is a very particular reader. Used to love Rick Riordan but has moved on. Beyond Riordan, the only books I’ve sent him that he has actually called begging for the sequels is Scythe. He likes Agatha Christie “because it makes him think” (to figure out what is going on). I’ve tried AS King and Going Bovine, but have not gotten a reaction and all the fantasy tried and trues. Would love an idea from you! Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore; The Future will be BS-free by Will McIntosh; The Lines We Cross by Randa Abdel-Fattah; Warcross and Legend by Marie Lu. A contemporary with some magic and some romance, but the story does not center grief. Now and When by Sara Bennett Wealer; Displacement by Kiku Hughes; Lobizona by Romina Garber. I am looking for a fantasy novel with romance that ideally is part of an almost finished or finished series. I have already read many of the popular ones, so I guess I am looking for those that were a bit more under the radar. I have read/started the Folk of the Air Series, A Court of Thorns and Roses Series, Red Queen Series, all of Cassandra Clare, etc. and loved them all! Looking for something in that realm. Blythewood by Carol Goodman; Lost Voices by Sarah Porter; The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd; Brooklyn Brujas by Zoraida Cordova. Warm fuzzy story about family (chosen, biological, adopted, whatever) with winter holiday(s) (not necessarily Christmas, but Christmas ok) as a backdrop and a happy ending. Something wintery and hopeful. (At least something that leaves the reader with some hope.) I like a variety of things. Some writers whose work I’ve enjoyed: Katie Henry, Karen McManus, Tomi Adeyemi, Jenny Han, Nina LaCour, and too many names to list. A few books I’ve read and enjoyed because of this podcast: Agnes at the End of the World, We Are the Perfect Girl, and Orpheus Girl. 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston; The Kid Table by Andrea Seigel; The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody. A feminist book like Rules for Being a Girl. Girls Like Us by Randi Pink; The Degenerates by J. Albert Mann; Burn Baby Burn by Meg Medina; Watch Us Rise by Renee Watson and Ellen Hagan. Books for a 13 year-old. She loves the Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare and anything written by Rick Riordan. Recently, I loaned her my copy of With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo (one of my favorite YA authors ever) and she loved it. I’d really like to give her books in a genre she loves and one that will expand her reading material. Finding Yvonne by Brandy Colbert; New Kid/Class Act by Jerry Craft; Inventing Victoria by Tonya Bolden; Akata Witch/Akata Warrior by Nnedi Okorafor. Something that will make me laugh, but also teach me something. The Go-Between by Veronica Chambers; Cherry by Lindsey Rosin; Unpregnant by Jenni Hendriks and Ted Caplan; We Are The Perfect Girl by Ariel Kaplan. I’m looking for at book for my niece (18 years old). She is not an avid reader out side required reading in school. She’s not that into fantasy and Sci fi, she likes contemporary fiction better. She might like a short story collection because 40 pages is not as daunting as 350 pages (or more if it’s a series) for a story. Books she had liked recently: They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera and Broken Things by Lauren Oliver. Try Margarita Engle, Nikki Grimes, Stephanie Hemphill, Kwame Alexander as an alternative to short stories but still with a lot of white space, as it may be less intimidating; Toil and Trouble edited by Jessica Spotswood and Tess Sharpe; Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo. I’m interested in spooky tales, thrillers, science fiction, and non-WWII fiction. No dystopias or urban fantasy, please! The most important thing to me as an aromantic asexual person is that’s there’s no significant romantic element. I don’t want the main character to have any romantic partners or to spend several pages daydreaming about their crush(es). Thanks! Pan’s Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke; Dread Nation by Justina Ireland; Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham; The Blood Confession by Alisa M. Libby; The Girl From The Well by Rin Chupecho; Jackaby by William Ritter; Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour. A book for my 19 year old sister who loves Wilder Girls and The Poet X. She is a fan of feminism, horror, and queerness in books. The Cure for Dreaming by Cat Winters; Mary’s Monster by Lita Judge; The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis; Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez; We Are The Wildcats by Siobhan Vivian; The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus. A book for my daughter. She recently told me that she is gay. I want to show her how much I love her and accept her. She loves graphic novels and has read many of the most popular ones featuring same sex relationships. Everything Noelle Stevenson! Lumberjanes, Nimona, The Fire Never Goes Out; Queer: A Graphic History by Meg John Barker and Julia Scheele; Skim by Mariko Tamaki; Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker and Wendy Xu; Kiss Number 8 by Colleen AF Venable and Ellen T. Crenshaw; Moonstruck by Grace Ellis and Shae Bragl. Something heavily folklore-based (Maggie Stiefvater or higher level of “heavily”) and LGBTQ+ please? European and Asian folklore are my favorite but I’ll be happy to dive into any other as well. Anna-Marie McLemore; A Thousand Beginnings and Endings edited by Elsie Chapman and Ellen Oh; Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco; A Curse of Roses by Diana Pinguicha; Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao; Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardost. A fantasy or science fiction novel, preferably action-packed. Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger; The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline; Cut Off by Adrianne Finley; Orleans by Sherri L. Smith. An awesome ghost story. The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco; Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn; Horrid by Katrina Leno; The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring; Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour; Thirteen Doorways, Wolves Behind Them All by Laura Ruby; Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. School for Good & Evil read-alikes for 14-year-old reluctant reader. Thanks! Carry On by Rainbow Rowell; The Irregular at Magic High School manga series by Tsutomu Sato; The Black Mage by Daniel Howard Barnes; Supermutant Magic Academy by Jillian Tamaki; A Blade so Black by LL McKinney; Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim; Liz Braswell’s Twisted Fairy Tales series; Melissa Albert’s The Hazel Wood. Dos sencillos fueron publicitados de ese álbum “Right Side of the Bed” y “The Crimson”. Además, se le suma la gira Otoño 2006 titulada World Championship Tour, planeada con bandas como From First To Last, Chiodos, y Every Time I Die. Hasta la actualidad, este disco cuenta con cuatro sencillos: “Anger Left Behind”, “In Our Wake”, “The Time Is Now” y “House Of Gold”.

BIO: a Clinician Scientist with the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research; Education Administrator in the Emergency Department at CAMHHer research focuses on suicide, gender and culture, and she is the lead author of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Clinician Handbook on Suicide Prevention.Dr. Juveria Zaheer has done extensive research and investigation on suicide notes and believes that by investigating them, “we have an opportunity to improve our understanding of the mind-set of people in the moments prior to their suicide deaths. The hope is that we can use this information to understand patterns of thinking that contribute to suicide. These patterns can be targets of treatment in those at risk. Dr. Zaheer has also been instrumental in implementing programs that affect the performance of an organization. Nationally, she led the development of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Clinician’s Handbook for Suicide Prevention, a 72-page manual distributed to every CAF health care provider to guide a standardized approach to care for service members at risk for suicide

That's the fun of doing this live though so there we are and I'm sure with the seamless magic of editing you won't notice (ok you will because I put a cow noise in there for a laugh). Anyway... we talk to Mat from Without Andrew about their brand new single My Gothic Girlfriend and ask things like But WHY does the goth girl turn out to be a vampire? Interviews by Brainard Carey

'At satirizing pop-celebrity culture Ms. Tak is on the mark'. - Grace Glueck, The New York Times Elise Tak is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. In her work she uses the imagery of film and popular culture to create a rich fictional and visionary world, while at the same time discussing contemporary, sociopolitical issues. Elise Tak works in both traditional media and in modern digital media using 3D software (such as Cinema4D, zBrush and several renderers) and image editors like Photoshop. By continually experimenting with new developments she continually pushes her own artistic skill to new limits. For over 30 years already she has dedicated herself to the creation of an ever-growing body of work, featuring the lives and careers of more than 10 fictional, yet ‘world famous’, movie actors. It is an intricate play between reality and fiction, between life and art, because whereas in the movies, real living actors create a false existence, in Tak’s work even these actors are pure fiction. Up to now Elise Tak has 'given birth' to 10 movie actors, with different ages and from different backgrounds. Their names are: Michael Okada, Thomas Kirby, Marian Xiao, Pete Banich, Marvin Dunbar, Forough Amirshahi, Jeni Wright, Roy Rebergen, Charlie Pep and Anita Carbajal. Elise Tak was born in the Netherlands and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Since the early 1990s her work has been shown in leading galleries, museums and art institutes like Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, Frans Hals Museum/De Hallen, Museum Helmond (The Netherlands); Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art (USA); Musée de Luxembourg, Musée d'Art Moderne Contemporain Strasbourg, FRAC Poitou-Charentes, Le Consortium (France). Articles on her work have appeared in The New York Times, Flash Art, Der Spiegel, Art Press and many more. In addition, she has several large-scale public art projects to her credit, commissioned by leading institutes in the field like SKOR Foundation for Art and Public Space and Stroom Den Haag, both in The Netherlands. Her animation short ‘Suicide Notes’ was produced in collaboration with the two-time Emmy-award winning composer Patricia Lee Stotter. Elise Tak was the projection designer for the play ‘Flashback’, which ran in a New York City theater in 2007. Her series of stills illustrating Gogol's ‘The Nose’ originally was made for the short film ‘Here's What I Like... Russian Literature. And Now I'll Tell You Why’, directed by Abigail Zealy Bess and written and conceived by Amy Staats. In 2019 she was the director of imagery and projection designer of the staged reading of the play ‘Paging Doctor Faustus’, written by Paul Genega and Patricia Lee Stotter and directed by Mary Chang. Elise Tak is also active as a curator. Het latest exhibition 'A New York State of Mind (Stories from the unusual suspects)' was shown at Cacaofabriek in Helmond, The Netherlands in 2018 and featured a selection of artists from New York. The book mentioned in the interview that she is reading is ‘Moment of Clarity’ by Lee Camp. (Lee Camp is a comedian who is sharply critical of the US political system and he can make the darkest of the dark funny). ‘Pent Up’ (1982) Marvin Dunbar as Green Peaz Digital 3D art, Cinema4D, Plugins 4D, zBrush, 3dCoat, Corona Render for Cinema4D, Affinity Photo © Elise Tak, 2019 Green Peaz is a Vietnam War combat veteran. The Little Black Book of Suicide Notes with Adele Paula Royce

This week, on The Conscious Consultant Hour, Sam welcomes Author Adele Paula Royce. What could make a person feel that they can no longer go on living? Why would someone think that ending their life is the only option? In The Little Black Book of Suicide Notes, Adele presents a semi-fictional look inside the mind and heart of a tortured soul on the verge of ending her own life. Written as a suicide journal, The Little Black Book of Suicide Notes is a spiritual memoir that takes readers on a journey of life, death, and rebirth. Drawing upon her own personal history of spirituality, she is able to give a much deeper insight on a topic most people struggle to talk about. Adele Paula Royce attended the School of Visual Arts and has a degree in fine arts and English literature from City University of New York. More than 10 years ago, she began studying under a master teacher of Western Spirituality, and has been a student of Kabbalistic practice ever since. This week on the Conscious Consultant Hour, Adele Paula Royce talks about her book The Little Black Book of Suicide Notes and how she wrote this book from both life experiences and interest in the topic. She started with a spiritual doctor, and soon she could never look back. Now, looking back at how she came to write the book, she really thinks that the reason for writing is simply life. She was mortified by the thought of suicide. “Every 14 minutes, someone kills themselves” is just one of the things that really pushed her to write this book. She had a lot of personal experience as well. For almost 10 years she was depressed, and experienced many of the things that she wrote about. There was a buildup of emotion, and eventually she decided to write a book. Although there was no really contemplation of suicide, her experiences with depression, and her time of darkness really changed how she has looked at life. Now, she wants to bring hope into her readers, and wants to talk about something that simply needs to be talked about. Coming soon, she will be releasing the second and third books of the trilogy. Joaquin Emiliano moved to New Orleans with the plan of killing himself on his 35th birthday as a publicity stunt for the publication of his novel, Suicide Notes From A Wedding. Discovering that, like everything else he s attempted in his life, he d failed again, Joaquin finds himself not only living dammit but living near Tulane University in a neighborhood surrounded by "obnoxious students" in a city that has been seriously over hyped and in which he can see little mystery or magic. It s hard to tell what s real and what s merely an extremely funny and beguiling persona with Joaquin, but falling anyplace on the continuum between Woody Allen and a lounge lizard makes for an awesome Happy Hour guest. Danielle Burrell is either the Joaquin antidote, a piece of clever complementary guest booking by producer Graham daPonte, or proof that God and Satan are fighting it out for control of the city. Danielle is the founder of Treux North Fitness, a Zumba dance exponent, a mom, and a bride to be. Danielle tells an awesome story of her first date which includes non existant comedy and whipped cream after meeting the love of her life over a board game. Danielle s fiance Jeremy showed up at Happy Hour and joined the party. Hazy Ray are one of Happy Hour s favorite music guests. Today Joshua Ray and P. Michael Hays II the Hays Ray core of the group bring along Ryan Patrick to play some of the coolest, jazz inflected riffs we ve heard in some time. Joshua sings the band s new single, "Superman," which turns out to be about the unrequited love of an old girlfriend. Songwriters, here s an interesting observation. Apparently it doesn t matter how in love you are with your wife nor how much in love she is with you, the ex girlfriend you wrote a song about however many years ago before I met you can still be a problem. So Joshua digs himself out of having that conversation at home by singing a beautiful and danceable love song called "Linda" for his wife, Linda. Andrew Duhon is roaming around the nation playing guitar and so Kelcy Mae is sitting in for him today in the sidekick chair. Kelcy s knowledge of teenage alcoholics and Atlanta preachers assures her of a return invitation. The photos on this page were taken at Casa Borrega by fab photographer Cheryl DalPozzal.
