In this episode, I introduce you to Julie C., mom of three boys and two dogs and a wife. In December 2019, Julie was starting to organize her office and thought, “There's no TV in this room, maybe I'll find a podcast to listen to.” She was really drawn to the messages along with the teaching of the Organize 365® Podcast. Julie had previously tried the Freedom Filer® Filing System, but ended up confusing herself with it. That's when she implemented the Sunday Basket® and got her paper under control. Then when the unexpected event of a cancer diagnosis was received, Julie was able to lean on her Sunday Basket®. Julie's oldest son was a senior and she wanted to make sure his graduation celebration was perfect. Her family and friends were able to help her plans play out due to the organization of actionable items in the Sunday Basket®. I have noticed in my 50's, some of my friends have experienced a cancer diagnosis or a heart attack. These unexpected events throw life off kilter. This is usually when we realize we need to get all the info out of our heads and onto paper in the event people need to access accounts and such and we are not in a capacity to do so. Our team had a crazy fall last year and I did a 6- part series of the different events and how my staff was handling them; check out episodes 555 through 560 to hear all about them. We can't control much in these events, but the Sunday Basket® gives us peace of mind. And I mention that Julie being able to have peace of mind gave her the ability to rest, which is when our bodies repair and heal. Julie was also encouraged by the Organize 365® community, realizing others had been in her shoes and learning what they did. Once Julie was back to work, she attended the Friday Workbox® Planning Day sans the Friday Workbox®. I laughed, but Julie explained all the benefits she gained from simply planning. Like scheduling a workout, actually putting it on the schedule in her day. Julie has also acknowledged with her kids getting older, she has more time. Due to the podcast, she was inspired with all her extra time to go for her Doctorate in Education for Leadership and Healthcare. Now that she's planning to go back to school, she's also been evaluating cleaning in her house. We talked about how you can clean your house OR you can hire that out and use that time towards a project or something like going back to school. We also talked about the stigma that comes with hiring someone to clean your house. You could feel “holier than thou” OR you may consider how grateful that person is to work, which could be what they really enjoy, and the ability to make money for their family. Julie recently became a member of The Productive Home Solution® and appreciates The Paper Solution® Binders. It's so important to have the information documented and now in her Medical Binder for the future. And speaking of the future, she wants to get the Launch Binders for her boys. We talked about learning the skills of cleaning your home or other home management tasks. We often learn them in the dorms at college. But what if you don't attend college, then how do you learn? In either setting, we agreed the Launch Binder is the way to go to share common knowledge with your children as they embark on their independent adult journey. Julie's advice is, “Just get started. Lean on the system, it doesn't have to be ‘done.' Bâties sur la promesse d'une vie meilleure, nos sociétés modernes ont optimisé nos actions et nos usages pour rentabiliser notre temps. Mais en faisant de la croissance et de la productivité les seules valeurs de réussite, elles ont généré un phénomène d'accélération inédit, mettant en péril l'ensemble des écosystèmes et la manière dont nous faisons société.Régies par une équation temps/profit, nos productions et nos consommations massives ont entraîné une exploitation abusive des ressources. A l'échelle humaine, le sociologue allemand Hartmut Rosa compare ce phénomène à celui d'une « roue de hamster ». Coincés à l'intérieur de l'engrenage, nous ne courons plus vers quelque chose, mais seulement parce qu'il nous est impossible de nous arrêter. Cette crise de sens, associée à la pression économique et à la charge mentale, permet de mieux comprendre certains phénomènes récents : augmentation des burn-out, mouvement de la grande démission, émergence du quiet quitting (démission silencieuse)… Volontaires ou subis, ces processus de ralentissement révèlent que le rythme de nos vies ne nous convient plus.L'éloge de la décélération trouve dans ce contexte un écho singulier ! La voie/x du Slow, qui a émergé durant les années 1980, puise ses sources dans la Skholè de l'Antiquité grecque. Ce temps libre, totalement désintéressé, était consacré à la libre pensée. La philosophie est née grâce à lui ! C'est pourquoi nous croyons au rôle central de la rêverie et de l'imaginaire dans la construction du monde à venir. It's tough to hire good talent right now and that's especially true, when it comes to employees with technical skills, who are in particularly high demand. Demand for these workers by non-tech companies has increased even as tech giants like Facebook and Amazon seek to hire thousands of them. To fill these roles at a time when highly-skilled people have many opportunities, seek to broaden the funnel of potential candidates by thinking harder about what skills are truly essential. Try these three approaches to identify and attract top tech talent: · Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Take a broad view of the talent pool. Don't just stick with the typical sources of recruits. Objectively testing for capabilities and skills, rather than relying on past experience, credentials, and connections will open up more opportunities for underrepresented candidates and widen your company's talent funnel. · Transparent and accountable senior management. At high-performing tech companies, managers are usually visible and willing to engage directly with employees. Highlight access to senior leaders. The best talent wants to work in places where they can have real impact and their voices are heard. Something that will make me laugh, but also teach me something. I’m looking for at book for my niece (18 years old). She is not an avid reader out side required reading in school. She’s not that into fantasy and Sci fi, she likes contemporary fiction better. She might like a short story collection because 40 pages is not as daunting as 350 pages (or more if it’s a series) for a story. Books she had liked recently: They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera and Broken Things by Lauren Oliver. Try Margarita Engle, Nikki Grimes, Stephanie Hemphill, Kwame Alexander as an alternative to short stories but still with a lot of white space, as it may be less intimidating; Toil and Trouble edited by Jessica Spotswood and Tess Sharpe; Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo. I’m interested in spooky tales, thrillers, science fiction, and non-WWII fiction. No dystopias or urban fantasy, please! The most important thing to me as an aromantic asexual person is that’s there’s no significant romantic element. The imposition of hands is rightly recognized by the Catholic tradition as the origin of the sacrament of Confirmation, which in a certain way perpetuates the grace of Pentecost in the Church. "Very early, the better to signify the gift of the Holy Spirit, an anointing with perfumed oil (chrism) was added to the laying on of hands. This anointing highlights the name 'Christian,' which means 'anointed' and derives from that of Christ himself whom God 'anointed with the Holy Spirit.' This rite of anointing has continued ever since, in both East and West. For this reason the Eastern Churches call this sacrament Chrismation, anointing with chrism, or myron which means "chrism." The reproducibility and transparency of research in science and social science is increasingly questioned, both within the academic community and across society in general. In "The prevention and detection of human error in ecological stable isotope analysis", David J. Hawke, Julie C. S. Brown and Sarah J. Bury pick up an issue that applies to complex, hi-tech measurements made in specialist science laboratories that are often remote from the researcher: the potential for inadvertent errors to occur in reported results. We argue that the researcher and the specialist laboratory both need to take a no-blame, quality management-based approach to preventing and detecting error. Although we have focused on one particular technique widely used in ecology (stable isotope analysis), the principles apply to any complex laboratory measurement.
