I believe I first learned about Kruk design via the algorithm on Instagram. Needless to say, it sure has me pegged. Through friends at Walt Grace Vintage in Miami, I was introduced to today's guest, the founder and one-man-band behind Kruk Designs, Blake Simon. If you're familiar with the tartan plaids, woven leathers, and houndstooth-clad watch rolls, then you may already be familiar with the brand. The son of an entrepreneur, Blake co-founded Horus Watch Straps while still in college, only to set out on his own to begin making his own line of luxury leather goods. Blake shares the advice his father has given him, as well as the cars and watches that are near and dear to his heart. Blake and I quickly realized we are certainly birds of a feather, and this was one of the few in-person interviews I've done in a while, so it's safe to say we had a blast. Host Diana Korte speaks with Artis Henderson whose newest title, “NO ORDINARY BIRD. Drug Smuggling, a Plane Crash, and a Daughter's Quest for the Truth,” is a page-turning true crime book based on personal history, interviews with long-lost family members (and co-conspirators), along with government records.   They all illuminate the life of her experienced pilot dad, Lamar Chester, who died in his private plane that was very likely sabotaged—and what lead up to that event.  The author who was 5 years old then was with him, but survived with injuries.   Her father had been one of the biggest marijuana smugglers in Miami in the 1970s. At the time of his death, he was about to testify in a US trial that had swept up politicians, a prime minister, and Colombian drug cartels. But the deeper Artis digs, the more unexpected the story becomes.

The Irish Sports Daily staff provides instant reaction and postgame analysis to Notre Dame's season opening loss to the University of Miami in South Beach. Miami jumped out to a dominating 21-7 lead in the third quarter, then it was 24-14, before Notre Dame stormed back to tie the game at 24. Miami eventually converted a 48 yard field goal to take a 27-24 lead and then sealed the game with a sack on defense.

Greg Flammang of Irish Sports Daily provides commentary and analysis the morning after Notre Dame's 27-24 loss to Miami in Hard Rock Stadium. It was a game the Irish were never in control of and couldn't take advantage of the momentum they'd built at various points to take the lead. CJ Carr was impressive in his debut, but the Irish needed more from their veteran offensive skill talent to help him along. Plus, a look at the defense, their lack of havoc plays, and what they need to do to create more negatives for the offense. Miami didn't gash Notre Dame, but they weren't uncomfortable often enough. New defensive coordinator Chris Ash needs to solve that problem against Texas A&M.
