We start Part 2 of the Musikfest Exordium podcasts with the all important weather forecast with Bobby Martrich, chief meteorologist at EPAWA. Over the 10 days of August, the fest can often be hit with a heat wave, thunderstorms, hail, etc, so it's important to be prepared. Last year we lucked out with near perfect weather, so lets see if Bobby, can work his magic again this year! Then we'll spend time with Igor from the Red Elvises to hear about his amazing story growing up in the Ukraine, winning Star Search with Limpopo in the 90s, and coming to the US. He'll even perform an acoustic song live! We'll then hear from Richard Liu, the chair of the Performing Arts board at ArtsQuest. We'll learn more about how the board works all year long to play a role in bringing arts and culture to the Lehigh Valley. He'll also share how effective and helpful the Musikfest app is for navigating the schedule and getting to see as many of the artists you logistically can.Ever wonder what it takes to set everything up and respond to the various emergencies and incidents throughout? We'll be joined by "Sheriff of the Northside" Gerard Longo, who you'll remember was on our show back in May to share his story and how he founded Underground Music Collective in Nashville, but comes back every year to play a vital role in getting Musikfest up and running smooth all week long. We'll also have an exciting announcement to share! Then we'll wrap things up (obvi) with music. We'l be joined by Billy Bauer and Bobby Siegfried, who both have sets during the fest for their own projects, and then join forces on the last day for a DMB tribute set. They'll play a few songs and get us ready for Musikfest!!As always, our hope is to bring you "your next favorite band". We began with one of our own insights, which we developed and supported with ideas from the meforshim. This ended up providing a really nice insight into one of the hitherto underappreciated objectives of Mishlei, namely, to cultivate bitachon in Hashem (in a Mishleic way).----------מקורות:משלי - כב:יז-כאמאירירבינו יונהמצודת ציוןרמב"ם - פירוש המשניות, סנהדרין, הקדמה לפרק חלקירמיהו יז:ה-ח----------This week's Torah learning has been sponsored anonymously, and is dedicated to Yehudit Malka bat Ronit Elisheva, in the zechus that Hashem may help her find what she's looking for. ----------If you have questions, comments, or feedback, I would love to hear from you! Because I knew we'd only have two days to work on these this week, and we wouldn't be back until Tzom Gedaliah, I thought it best to focus on the MAJOR questions and the MAIN idea without getting bogged down in the details. Before our analysis got underway, we got involved in an important tangent in answering the question: What do we make of the fact that the 30 pesukim beginning with Mishlei 22:17 bear an uncanny resemblance to the Egyptian wisdom literature text known as "Instruction of Amenemope," which seems to have been composed over a century before Shlomo ha'Melech wrote Mishlei? After that tangent, we managed to formulate three major questions, which we will endeavor to answer tomorrow (בג"ה).----------מקורות:משלי ג:ה; כא:ל-לא; כב:יז-כאRobert Alter, translation of The Book of Proverbs, footnote to 20:17https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instruction_of_Amenemope#Biblical_parallelshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_chronology----------This week's Torah learning has been sponsored anonymously, and is dedicated to Yehudit Malka bat Ronit Elisheva, in the zechus that Hashem may help her find what she's looking for. ---------If you have questions, comments, or feedback, I would love to hear from you! August in the Lehigh Valley promises 2 things: it'll be hot and it will rain. Often heavily. So the 10 days of Musikfest need the best weather forecaster out there - Bobby Martrich from EPAWA (Eastern PA Weather Consulting). We were lucky enough to have him join our Exordium and he shared his thoughts about how we will fare across the 10 days of the festival. He also shares the other offerings of EPAWA and how you can tap in to them, even as an individual.
These three words most succinctly describe the work, person, and gift of the Holy Spirit. Exordium plus sermon for the Feast of Pentecost, by Rev. Jeff Hendrix.

The peace and comfort that the world gives is based on what can be seen, felt, or experienced. This, as Pentecost shows, is very different than the peace that Jesus gives through the Holy Spirit. This week, we're tackling Romantic Suspense and reading one of our favorite books of 2020, Adriana Anders's Whiteout! We talk about all the things romantic suspense has to nail (ha!) to knock it out of the park, why we would literally never be characters in a book set in Antarctica, and the wild feeling of reading a romantic suspense about a virus during a pandemic. Also Sarah talks about how much she loves Adriana Anders's writing and recommends lots of backlist. Next week, we're back with an interstitial, and in two weeks, we're reading Sarah's favorite Sherry Thomas book —Ravishing the Heiress. Find it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, or Kobo. Thank you, as always, for listening! Please follow us on your favorite podcasting app, and if you are up for leaving a rating or review there, we would be very grateful!Show NotesIt's tenterhooks, not tenderhooks. Apparently Jen needs more sleep, or else it's gonna be a real drag on future seasons of Fated Mates. Jen tweeted about Whiteout a lot, put it on our Best of 2020 list, and even made a meme about it last week. Reading a book about a virus during a pandemic is kind of wild! Jen and Sarah are not campers, but we support you. We do like reading books about people doing extremely cold outside things: Into Thin Air, Into the Wild, and a new book on Jen's TBR is The Next Everest by Jim Davidson.Let Sandra Brown explain romantic suspense to you, and maybe you'd like to read Jack Reacher if you're into that sort of thing. We learned some things about Antarctica and staying warm while reading this book: How cold did you say it was again? Why are frostbite and hypothermia so dangerous? How fast can you get hypothermia? What would really happen to a penis in super cold weather? What's the deal with the red puffy jacket? What was all that other gear Angel and Ford had? What are fat bombs?Do people really burn 6000 calories a day there? Can you really go 300 miles on foot? What is an ice core and why do scientists study them? Are ice tunnels real? Why is flying a plane in Antartica so dangerous? What about driving vehicles?Or swimming? There are mountain ranges in Antartica? What's the terrain like? Is that cravasee thing real? Can you really make a heater out of a tealight candle? Why are there seasons??What is Polar Night? Was it just a coincidence that you released this episode concurrently with the onset of Polar Night in Antartica?Outside of murdering people for their ice core samples, are people doing crimes in Antarctica? How accurate is the movie Arctic with Mads Mikkleson? How's Antartica doing in global climate change? Thanks to Amy, one of our listeners, we now know that Antarctica TikTok exists. The two ice stations in the book McMurdo and Vostok are real research stations, and actually there are way more of these stations than you'd think. Angel calls Ford the Iceman, but not that Iceman. If you want to read more about racism and greed in American pharmaceutical companies, you might be interested in Empire of Pain, Patrick Radden Keefe's new book about the Sackler family, about Pfizer and Moderna and the COVID vaccine, Henrietta Lacks, the Tuskegee experiments, medical colonialism, and the list goes on and on. Big Bad Wolf by Suleikha Snyder isn't a critique of big pharma, but it is a fierce critique of the American system of justice. Chekhov's Gun is an axiom by the playwright about how props on stage must come into the plot. You can still order the Fated Mates Best of 2020 pack from Old Town Books. Most of us are not surprised that we celebrate that Christ was risen from the dead. However, to the women and the disciples that first Easter morning, it changed everything. It still does. Sermon (Preceded by Exordium and Festival hymn) on Mark 16:1-8 by Rev. Jeff Hendrix

This exhibit is called Vietnam War: The Music. Our mission here at the Music Museum is to support all Vietnam Veterans and those who serve the United States, then and now. We thank you for your service. ****** This episode and it’s title was inspired by the outstanding writing of Michael Herr in his book called “Dispatches” published in 1977. It is a hybrid of memoir and fiction hailed as one of the most important books about the war, describing the experiences of disillusioned young American soldiers there. Herr, in his book, also professed that “Vietnam was the first ‘rock ‘n’ roll war’, and Jimi Hendrix was its forward scout.” ***** Early-on, in Vietnam, soldiers turned to music as a lifeline to the home front they promised to defend. Country music was a big part of a soldier’s down time that centered around the hooches and outposts of Vietnam. One of the songs in this episode was written and performed by Chip Dockery who served two tours with the 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron ("Panther Pack") in Vietnam. Listen to “KING OF THE TRAIL”. This song is part of a series which Chip wrote about the North Vietnamese truck drivers on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Parking in caves during the day and driving by night, they tried to evade the fighter attacks, B-52 strikes and reconnaissance planes. **** Our shows say thank you & “welcome home” to all Vietnam Vets. There is no opinion offered on the War. It’s all about the music. **** For your service and your sacrifice, this is Vietnam War: The Music. **** This episode is called “Dispatches From The Jungle” ***** Join the conversation on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008232395712 **** or by email at dannymemorylane@gmail.com **** In this episode you’ll hear: 1) Run Through the Jungle by Creedence Clearwater Revival 2) Welcome Home by Country Joe McDonald 3) Bring The Boys Home by Freda Payne 4) Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf 5) Soldier Baby Of Mine by The Ronettes 6) We Can Work It Out by The Beatles 7) Smokin' Cigarettes And Drinking Coffee Blues by Marty Robbins 8) When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin 9) Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who 10) In The Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus) by Zager & Evans 11) Go Where You Wanna Go by The 5th Dimension 12) There's a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere by The Louvin Brothers 13) King of the Trail [To the tune of Roger Miller's 1965 hit, "King of the Road"] by Chip Dockery 14) Low Rider by War 15) My Girl by The Rolling Stones 16) She's Not There by The Zombies 17) Twistin' The Night Away by Sam Cooke 18) Waist Deep In The Big Muddy by Pete Seeger 19) Wasted Words by The Allman Brothers Band 20) American Soldier by Toby Keith 21) Wooden Ships by Crosby, Stills & Nash 22) Soul Deep by The Box Tops 23) The Last Letter by Ray Price 24) Guide You Home by Sugarland 25) Changes by David Bowie 26) Strange Days by The Doors 27) Rider in the Rain by Reckless Kelly & Joe Ely (Willy Braun, Cody Braun & Joe Ely, vocals) 28) Dueling Banjos by Eric Weissberg & Steve Mandell 29) You Are The Sunshine Of My Life by Stevie Wonder 30) Everybody's Everything by Santana 31) Saturday Night by Billy Dean 32) All Things Must Pass by George Harrison 33) Who Knows Where the Time Goes by Stephen Stills & Judy Collins

In our series on interesting deals in the STO space, today a particular gem because of the unusual asset class and the people involved. Asset class first: this is a security token [1,2,3] giving the investors economic interest in an online game called Infinite Fleet. This security token is not to be confounded with Infinite Fleet's in game currency [4]. In terms of people involved there is obviously Samson Mow who is heading Pixelmatic, the developer of the game, and who also has quite a high profile as CSO of Blockstream, a crypto infrastructure company. The backers include Adam Back, Blockstream's CSO, Max Keiser, of the Keiser Report, and Charlies Lee the founder of LiteCoin who famously sold his holdings just before the market crashed. The main deal platform seems to be BnkToTheFuture [5] who has supported quite a lot of companies raising fund in the crypto space, including Kraken [6,7]. The issuance is a SAFT, but they are planning to use the Liquid Network [10] eventually. Also involved STOKR [9] hence the deal being registerd both in the US and in Luxemburg. For those interested in the legal framework under which the offering takes place, STOKR seems to only have an agent payments license from the French ACPR. 1. https://coinjournal.net/news/infinite-fleet-raises-3-1m-in-private-security-token-offering/ 2. https://www.coindesk.com/charlie-lee-adam-back-private-sto-round-blockchain-game-infinite-fleet 3. https://cointelegraph.com/news/samson-mows-infinite-fleet-game-raises-31m-on-bnktothefuture 4. https://www.infinitefleet.com/gamecurrency 5. https://bnktothefuture.com 6. https://app.bnktothefuture.com/companies 7. https://www.coindesk.com/over-2000-investors-back-kraken-crypto-exchanges-13-million-crowdfunding 8. https://www.coindesk.com/bnktothefuture-ceo-50-percent-of-funding-will-be-through-security-tokens-in-2020 9. https://stokr.io 10. https://stokr.io/legal 11. https://liquid.net 12. https://www.businessinsider.com/litecoin-founder-charlie-lee-on-decision-to-sell-entire-crypto-holding-2018-4

Most Christians get the Holy Spirit wrong, and end up trying to recreate Pentecost to feel the Holy Spirit. But the promise of Pentecost is that the Holy Spirit is with you, whether you feel Him or not. Sermon by Rev. Jeff Hendrix for Pentecost Sunday 2020, touching on COVID-19 as well as the unjust killing of Floyd George, plus the confirmation of our confirmand.

It's still technically 2019 in California, which means this isn't late! And by this, of course, I mean the 2019 Rebel FM Game Music Spectacular, where we reminisce and listen to our favorite video game tracks from the entire year (and occasionally from previous years ... stupid early access). In addition to recitals at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine and St. Thomas Church in New York City, and Old West Church, Boston, he has also performed in Germany and Wales as well as on the historic 18th century Andreas Silbermann organ in Strasbourg, France. Edward's achievements as a church musician and performer were most recently recognized when he was named as a member of the “Class of 2017” by The Diapason magazine's program, “20 under 30,” which lifts up young professionals in the world of organ, harpsichord, carillon, and church music. A major interest in contemporary organ music, particularly by American composers, led Edward to commission "E," "Fantasia," and "Parodies" by Kathleen Scheide; "Praeludium" and “Psalm 139” by Pamela Decker; "Prelude on the Carillon d'Alet" by Craig Phillips, and "Exordium" by Carson Cooman. A composer himself, “Flourishes and Reflections – Organ Music for Service or Recital” was recently released by Lorenz. In this conversation, Edward and I talk about his organist career and about his graceful strategy of dedicating his own compositions to other organists and composers. Enjoy and share your comments below. And don't forget to help spread the word about the SOP Podcast by sharing it with your organist friends. Thanks for caring.
Special guest Ryan Payton of Camouflaj joins Nate and Scott to discuss his studio's new game, Republique Episode 1: Exordium and the Kickstarter process that led to the game's publication.
This Show is dedicated the our Veterans and Active Military! Anthony Tedesco releases his debut album, Exordium. Portion of the proceeds go to Treat Any Soldier. Long Until Gone depicts sacrifices our troops make serving & protecting our country. Anthony: "Much of my family has been in the service. My grandfather was in the Air Force during WWII, & my uncle served in the Vietnam War. Both recently passed away (it is believed that my uncle passed away from long-term effects of "Agent Orange" that was released as a chemical weapon on the troops in Vietnam)" Buy Anthony's debut album on iTunes Debbie Lee has been a leading spokesperson for the missions of U.S. troops fighting in the war on terrorism & for their families & families of the fallen. She founded a non-profit, America's Mighty Warriors in response to her son's last letter home. Her son, Marc Alan Lee, 28, was the first Navy Seal to lose his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom was killed 8/2/2006 in a fierce firefight while on patrol against insurgents in Ramadi, Iraq. The Navy told Debbie that he died after single-handedly holding off the enemy as his team rescued a wounded soldier from a rooftop. During the 2-hour battle, officials informed her that Marc fired 100 ammo rounds against insurgents before he was killed. Donate at America's Mighty Warriors
