Ardie Davis aka Remus Powers, Ph.B. is a 2016 Barbecue Hall of Fame member in the celebrity/humanitarian category.  Ardie is a founder of the American Royal Barbecue Sauce Contest which is the world's largest sauce contest.  He is a charter member of the KCBS, instrumental in the development of the Certified Barbecue Judge curriculum, and author of the oath recited by each judge prior to judging a contest.  Ardie has written numerous BBQ books.  He has also been interviewed by the History Channel regarding barbecue, on more than one occasion.  In 2003 he was named a Kansas City Barbecue Legend by the The Kansas City Star. Ray Sheehan is no stranger to awards as he has been writing award winning cookbooks and producing a lineup of award winning sauces and rubs over the last several years.  His latest achievement is his induction into the prestigious Order of the Magic Mop.  The ceremony was led by Barbecue Hall of Famer Ardie Davis, who presented Ray with the symbolic Magic Mop in recognition of his contributions to the betterment of barbecue and humankind, and his ongoing efforts to promote youth involvement in barbecue.  The mop was signed by Ardie Davis and Carolyn Wells, as well as being marked “XX for Chef Paul Kirk.” The mop, made by the late Mr. Gattuso, is believed to be the last of its kind, crafted with an olive wood handle, high-quality Egyptian cotton head, stainless steel wire, and a stainless steel nail.  For more information on Ray Sheehan and his products go to https://www.raysheehan.com/ David Krell is an author and baseball historian.  He joins us once again as he discusses his new book, Bo Belinsky:  The Rise, Fall and Rebound of a Playboy Pitcher.  Belinsky's story is fascinating.  He began in the minor leagues in the mid–1950s, gained a spotlight with a no-hitter for the Angels during his rookie season, and endured severe ups and downs. Along the way, he dated the most famous actresses in America, including Mamie Van Doren, Connie Stevens, and Tina Louise.  Fans did not know about the disastrous effect of Belinsky's alcoholism and drug abuse. Did you ever walk into a conference session thinking you were ready for the week, only to realise the announcements were coming so fast that you almost needed an agent of your own to keep up? That was the mood across Las Vegas, and it was the backdrop for my conversation with Madhu Parthasarathy, the general manager for Agent Core at AWS. He has spent the week at the centre of AWS's wave of agentic AI news, working on the ideas that are already moving from keynotes and demos into the hands of real enterprise teams. Sitting down with him offered a rare moment of clarity among the noise, and his calm take on what actually matters helped bring the bigger picture into focus. Madhu talked through the thinking behind Agent Core and why he believes 2026 will be the year enterprises finally begin shifting from prototypes to production scale agents. He walked me through the two areas customers keep coming back to, trust and performance, and why the new policy framework and agent evaluations could remove long standing barriers to deployment.  His examples were grounded in real behaviour he is seeing inside large companies, whether that is internal support workloads, developer productivity, meeting preparation, or customer facing flows designed to reduce the friction between intent and outcome. We also explored the deeper shift introduced by Nova Forge, including the idea of blending enterprise data with model checkpoints to create domain specific agents that can work with greater accuracy and context. Madhu explained why there will never be a one size fits all model and how choice remains central to AWS's approach to agentic AI. My guest also reflected on how infrastructure changes, such as Trainium three ultra servers and expanded Nova model families, are shaping the pace at which companies can experiment, evaluate, and adopt emerging capabilities. Trust surfaced again and again in our conversation. Madhu was clear that non-deterministic systems also introduce concerns, which is why action boundaries and guardrails are becoming as important as model quality. He described the excitement he is seeing from customers who now feel they have workable ways to give agents responsibility without handing over the keys entirely.  As he put it, this is the moment where confidence begins to grow because the guardrails finally meet the expectations of enterprise leaders. We closed with the topic many people have been whispering about all week, modernization. Madhu reflected on AWS Transform, the push to help organisations move away from legacy architectures far faster than before, and the impact that agentic systems will have as they support full stack migrations across Windows environments and custom languages.  Madhu cuts through the noise with a grounded view of reliable autonomy, multi agent orchestration, policy driven safety, and the shift toward agents as true collaborators. The question now is where you see the biggest opportunity. How might these agent-based systems change your workflows, and what would it take for you to trust them with the tasks you never seem to have time for? I would love to hear your thoughts.

In Parshas Vayishlach, Yaakov returns home after 20 years with the wicked Laban and immediately sends real angels as messengers to his murderous brother Esav, prefacing their message with the cryptic line “Im Lavan garti” – “With Laban I sojourned.” Rashi reveals the hidden code: the word “garti” (גרתי) has the numerical value of 613 (תרי״ג), meaning “Even while living with the evil Laban, I kept all 613 mitzvos and never learned from his wicked ways.” Yaakov is teaching every Jew for all time: no matter how far away you are, no matter how hostile the environment, the Torah is the ultimate protective shield that preserves and elevates your soul. As Rabbi Wolbe powerfully declared: “When you stay firm in Torah study every single day, there is nothing in the world that can take you down.”The parsha's eternal message is crystallized in the Friday-night blessing we give our children: “Yisimcha Elokim k'Ephraim v'chi'Menashe” – may God make you like Ephraim and Menashe, the only two tribal ancestors raised in decadent, idolatrous Egypt yet who grew into pure tzaddikim. Why them? Because wherever our children end up – Houston, Memphis, Vegas, or the middle of nowhere – they may not have a yeshiva, a kosher restaurant, or even a minyan, but they will always have the Torah.
