Send us a textEpisode Summary: Dr. Andrew Chadeayne discusses the chemistry of psilocybin and other psychedelics, their potential therapeutic applications, and the challenges of commercializing them in a shifting biotech market. The conversation delves into the complexities of magic mushroom composition, debunking myths like "lemon tekking," and uncovers the booming, unregulated alternative products industry, including kratom and synthetic psilocybin analogs sold in vape shops.About the guest: Andrew Chadeayne, PhD is a chemist who also holds a law degree, specializing in patent law. He is the founder and CEO of CaaMTech, a startup specializing in the development of novel psychedelic compounds. Chadeayne collaborates with academic labs to advance psychedelic science while navigating the commercial landscape.Discussion Points:Psilocybin is a prodrug converted to psilocin, but magic mushrooms contain other psychoactive molecules like beta-carbolines, which may enhance effects by inhibiting degradation.Chadeayne's team develops psilocin prodrugs to shorten psychedelic trips, making clinical administration more manageable without altering effects. The "lemon tek" myth—that lemon juice converts psilocybin to psilocin—is false; it enhances absorption by extracting compounds, not altering chemistry.Magic mushroom bruising indicates psilocin degradation, as oxidized psilocin forms blue, inactive dimers. The multi-billion dollar alternative products industry sells kratom and synthetic psilocybin analogs, often mislabeled, in vape shops, raising safety and regulatory concerns.Kratom's minor alkaloid, 7-hydroxymitragynine, is ~40x more potent than morphine, with no reported overdoses but high habit-forming potential.Non-hallucinogenic serotonin 2A agonists, like those developed by CaaMTech's spinout, show promise for conditions like migraines without requiring a psychedelic trip.Related episode:M&M 71: Chemistry of Magic Mushrooms, DMT Analogues, Entourage Effects in Cannabis & Fungi, Novel Psychedelic Medicines, Psychedelic Startups | Andrew Chadeayne*Not medical advice.Support the showAll episodes, show notes, transcripts, and more at the M&M Substack Affiliates: KetoCitra—Ketone body BHB + potassium, calcium & magnesium, formulated with kidney health in mind.

Send us a textAre psychedelics a missing key to personal transformation in midlife? This week, I speak with Rob Grover and Gary Logan, the founders of The Journeymen Collective, a luxury guided psilocybin retreat company based in the mountains outside Vancouver, BC. These two have helped entrepreneurs, performers, couples—and yes, many women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and midlife transitions—use guided mushroom journeys to reconnect to themselves and release emotional burdens that therapy, medication, or self-help books haven't resolved. We talk grief, depression, anxiety, the inner critic, and how to tap into the body's sacred intelligence when everything feels disconnected. Rob and Gary explain the difference between “tripping” and undergoing a true guided journey, and why that distinction matters so deeply for healing and growth.Highlights: “Most people who find us have done the therapy, read the books, tried the biohacking—and still feel stuck.”– Rob Grover“This isn't about escaping—it's about meeting yourself more deeply than ever before.” – Gary LoganHow grief led both Rob and Gary to their first journeys with magic mushrooms—and why it changed everything. Why psilocybin is not a shortcut or magic bullet, but a profound reset for the nervous system. The science, spirituality, and deep preparation that goes into their luxury retreats. Why talk therapy for 10 years often gets outpaced by 4 days of immersive guided work.A frank and beautiful discussion about anger, sadness, menopause symptoms—and how they're often calls to listen to the body, not suppress it.Links + resources:Learn more: The Journeymen CollectiveFollow Rob and Gary on Instagram and LinkedInMentioned: Red School: Menstruality EducationResearch: MAPS – Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic StudiesUse code HOTFLASH20 for 20% off at MenoLabs.comEpisode sponsor: Thanks to Menolabs for sponsoring this episode. Last year, Babsi Zangerl did something no one has ever done before—she flashed a route on El Capitan. Thousands of feet of hard climbing with no falls. Her partner, Jacopo Larcher, came really close, taking just one fall during their ascent of Freerider. Zangerl has been a climber for over two decades, since she was a teenager at a climbing gym in Austria. But what, and how, she climbs has evolved over that time—she spent her early years as a professional boulderer. Zangerl first visited Yosemite fifteen years ago with her friend Hansjörg Auer. She was getting more serious about ropes after sustaining a serious back injury while bouldering. Since that first trip in 2010, Zangerl has returned with Larcher to free climb many of the valley's classic routes, including Zodiac, Magic Mushroom and the Nose. In 2018 the pair climbed the North Face of the Eiger. In 2022 they freed Eternal Flame on Pakistan's Nameless Tower, a trip Larcher wrote about in Alpinist 82. And their list of accomplishments just keeps growing. In this episode, Zangerl talks about the beginnings of her climbing career in Austria, her partnership with Larcher, learning the ropes from Hansjörg Auer and much more. This episode is brought to you with support from the American Alpine Club. Welcome back to the She2.0 podcast! Today I'm in conversation with Laura Bradburn, Owner & Founder of Branch Out Wellness and Holistic Health Consultant. Following up to dry January, I confess a few things to Laura about my perspective on alcohol and my own personal habits. Don't judge because I went out on a limb to be honest for the benefit of this conversation. There is a lot to say about going dry in regard to both pros and cons. On the one hand, giving up alcohol entirely is the best thing to do for your body and your brain but on the other hand, what if you're like me and don't want to give up a nice bold glass of cabernet sauvignon? I have significantly cut down my wine consumption, especially since the Surgeon General has called for cancer warning labels on all alcohol. That's enough to scare anyone sober. However, do we do it all at once or is moderation still a thing? That depends on your dependency, I guess. Many of us wonder if we can even go dry for a week, much less a month. In the circles I'm in, we're having honest conversations about our reliance on alcohol for many things – reward, stress and socializing. After a few weeks of wine on weekends only, I have personally noticed a big difference. Not all of it has lived up to the stories I've heard from others, but I feel great and have more energy and I love looking forward to a nice bold red on a Friday night. I've never been an all or nothing gal and I feel that scarcity makes me (and many others) fail and diets and dry drinking. But we can't just leave it at that. We need an answer. A ‘magic pill' of sorts. And that's where Laura Bradburn comes in! Join us for this ‘on the line' chat about cocktail consumption and an interesting alternative that won't leave you feeling completely ‘hung out to dry'! Tune in!

Are you looking for a way to step out of chronic mental illness by resetting your brain? In this episode, we meet Kathryn A. Walker, a former ER and ICU nurse turned CRNA and CEO of Revitalist Lifestyle and Wellness, (with clinics in Florida and Tennessee). Kathryn has witnessed firsthand the limitations of our current mental health system, where patients are often left feeling stigmatized, unsupported, not listened to by doctors, and chronically ill with a ‘one size fits all approach that does not help them. Through years of intensive training as a psychiatric nurse and anesthetist, Kathryn noticed how deeply connected all our organs are to one another and to our brain. She saw firsthand the emotional toll of physical ailment, and conversely, the physiological manifestations of psychological trauma. And she learned how to give the brain a reset in a fast, safe way. This conversation with Kathryn may give you hope. She is a passionate advocate for psychedelic-assisted therapy as a powerful tool for healing. She believes that by treating the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – we can finally start to address the root causes of mental health issues and achieve lasting remission. While research is ongoing in this field of science, its potential will revolutionize psychiatry. In this episode, you'll learn: The limitations of the current mental health system How psychedelic medicine can help heal trauma and improve mental well-being Why a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment doesn't work The importance of integrating mental and physical health care How to reframe your view on mental health and take steps towards healing How safe ketamine and magic mushrooms are and why they are not something to take simply because we don't feel well Don't miss this groundbreaking episode! Feel free to contact her at her clinic to understand if you are suitable for this kind of treatment. An initial consultation with Kathryn costs less than $50. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 4: 6:05pm- While appearing on Stephen Colbert's late night show, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen discussed her experience with magic mushrooms during a recent visit to China. 6:10pm- Why can't President Biden pronounce “Ozempic”? 6:30pm- REPLAY: On Friday, the United States Supreme Court released an unsigned 20-page opinion in TikTok, Inc. v. Garland which will allow for the federal government to create a nation-wide TikTok ban. Should the ban take effect, the social media application will no longer be available in Apple or Android stores—though, users who already have the app on their phone will be able to access the platform. Interestingly, without updates the app's performance and security features will degrade over time—making it especially susceptible to hacks. Isn't the ban supposed to prevent a nefarious actor from gaining access to sensitive personal data?

Initially aspiring to become a doctor like his parents and later venturing into the business world, Mazi Keyghobadi experienced significant failures and personal confusion. This led to an awakening five years ago, where he realized that external achievements did not bring him true happiness. Instead, he found his purpose within nonprofit work, driven by his son's Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy diagnosis. Welcome back to another enlightening episode of the Better Call Daddy Show! I'm your host, Reena Friedman Watts. Today, we dive deep into the transformative world of magic mushrooms, meditation, and muscular dystrophy with our special guest, Mazi Keyghobadi. As always, our insightful co-host, Wayne "Big Daddy" Friedman joins us. In this episode, Mazi shares his profound experiences with magic mushrooms, describing them as a "laxative for the soul," capable of sweeping away inner negativity and trauma. We'll hear how these natural substances have not only improved his mental clarity but also enhanced his roles as a father and nonprofit founder of Hope for Luka. Mazi likens the impact of psychedelics to the intriguing effects shown in the movie "Limitless" and discusses the significance of preparation and meditation when using these powerful tools. We'll also explore Mazi's mission to introduce the benefits of magic mushrooms to the muscular dystrophy community, his journey from aspiring doctor to impactful nonprofit leader, and how a life-altering "awakening" helped him find true happiness and purpose. Plus, Mazi will share inspiring anecdotes about thought leaders like Paul Stamets and Eckhart Tolle, as well as his commitment to authenticity and societal betterment. Stay tuned as we unravel Mazi Keygohbadi's story of self-discovery, emotional healing, and unwavering dedication to meaningful change. This is an episode you won't want to miss!
