Also today's sponsor is Indeed.com/Standup Bob Saget and I go way back and I was really happy to have him join me. He is one of the best of all time. Listen to his podcast and see him live. Here is is official bio: Yes, Bob Saget has starred in many successful television shows, including two of the most family-friendly shows network TV has ever produced (Full House and Americas Funniest Home Videos) but he's also an out of his mind, Grammy-nominated standup comedian for over thirty years. From his latest Amazon special, Zero to Sixty, to his HBO special That Ain't Right to his scene-stealing cameos in Entourage, and The Aristocrats, it's always effective as Saget embraces his mischievous side. From directing MGM's cult favorite feature film Dirty Work, to directing and producing the highly acclaimed ABC television movie, For Hope, to starring in the critically acclaimed, Paul Weitz off-Broadway play, Privilege, to starring on Broadway in the Tony Award winning The Drowsy Chaperone, Bob Saget shows no signs of stopping. Ever. In 2007 came the hugely successful DVD release of Farce of the Penguins, an R-rated comedy/documentary/love story, that he voiced-over, wrote, directed, and produced, with producer David Permut. And then came the hit NBC quiz show 1 VS 100, where Bob ad-libbed his way through the one-hour prime time format. In 2008, The Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget premiered to the second highest ratings of all TV that night, second only to the Olympics. For many years now, Bob has been a proud board member of the Scleroderma Research Foundation. He co-produces and hosts "Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine" fundraising events in Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco. To date, they have raised over 53 million dollars for the SRF going directly to research to cure this disease. Bob was seen several times reprising the role of “Himself” on HBO's hit series Entourage as well as a cameo in the film. He also starred in his own documentary comedy series for A&E titled, Strange Days with Bob Saget, an exploration of unusual subcultures in America. In 2014, Bob completed his first Australian theater tour visiting Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Bob continued touring, playing to sold out audiences in theaters and universities across North America and in 2012 he hosted the Montreal Comedy Festival's first live 90 minute JFL XXX TV show which continues to air across Canada on The Movie Network. His 2013 one-hour stand-up special, That's What I'm Talkin' About, was nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. The special was filmed at The Moore Theatre in Seattle, premiered on Showtime in May 2013 and is now available on multiple platforms, both as a comedy album and special. Bob's first book is a New York Times Best Seller - DIRTY DADDY was released on April 8, 2014 to critical acclaim with Vanity Fair calling it, “Hilarious and at times heartbreaking.” The book is also available as an audio book, recorded by Bob. In January 2016, Bob finished a very fulfilling and successful 9-week run on Broadway in the Tony-nominated play, Hand To God, playing the part of a Lutheran minister, Pastor Greg. That year he also co-starred in the film, A Stand Up Guy and began his six season run on the hit Netflix series, Fuller House which ended shooting in 2020. In 2018, Bob made his London performance debut at the Leicester Square Theatre, and can't wait to return to perform there when the times allow. Bob's newest hour-long stand-up special, Zero To Sixty, was shot in Brooklyn at The Williamsburg Hall of Music in May 2017. Zero To Sixty premiered worldwide on November 14, 2017 on multiple digital platforms including Amazon Prime, iTunes, Comcast, DirecTV, and many others. It's also available as a comedy album including vinyl LPs as well as streaming and downloads for all forms. On April 23, 2019, Bob's independent film, Benjamin, was released as the first Redbox Original release and it is also available on many streaming platforms. Bob directed and starred with an amazing ensemble cast: Rob Corddry, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kevin Pollak, Cheri Oteri, Dave Foley, Max Burkholder, Clara Mamet, David Hull, Jonny Weston, and Peri Gilpin. The film was produced by Nicholas Tabarrok. In this original dark comedy, Ed (Bob Saget), reluctantly calls together an oddball assortment of friends and family to intervene on the supposed drug habit of his 15-year-old son, Benjamin (Max Burkholder). What quickly follows is a night of finger-pointing, petty thievery, adulterous backstabbing, and a seesaw of crooked emotional revelations — all leading to the misguided but sincere attempt to heal this dysfunctional family. In 2019, Bob hosted the new CMT TV series, Nashville Squares.. On April 20, 2020, Bob launched his podcast, Bob Saget's Here For You, now at 100 episodes, featuring Bob's one of a kind stream of consciousness storytelling and real and honest conversations with amazing guests, including: Tiffany Haddish, Jason Sudeikis, Whoopi Goldberg, Norman Lear, Regina Hall, Bill Burr, John Mayer, Candace Cameron Bure, Cedric the Entertainer, John Stamos, Jake Tapper, Nikki Glaser, Jon Hamm and Bob Newhart. Last fall, Bob performed at Dave Chappelle's Summer Camp, which he just did again in May, 2021, appeared on the hit Fox TV show I Can See Your Voice, and performed as Squiggly Monster on The Masked Singer. Bob just wrapped shooting the dark comedy film, Blue Iguana, in the Cayman Islands, alongside Joel David Moore, Jason Jones, Carly Chaikin, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Chantel Riley, and Iggy Pop. It was directed by Jeremey LaLonde and Produced by Nicholas Tabarrok. The story involves a dying man (Pop) who will leave his entitled children his fortune only if they can spend the weekend together in his Cayman Islands home. They end up trying to murder one of their siblings in order to get his share of the fortune. Bob is overjoyed to be back on his stand-up tour with a new hour plus of material with dates scheduled all over North America, happening right now. Richard Bell and Face2Face host David Peck talk his new film Brotherhood, dignity and self sacrifice, putting others before ourselves, rites of passage, real boys and toxic masculinity. Trailer The film be will be available on the Super Channel in March 2020.Synopsis: Based on the harrowing true story that made newspaper headlines across North America in the 1920s, Brotherhood is a taut survival drama that feels timely and modern in this era of the very real Boy Crisis. A bristling piece of Canadian history, that is a clarion call for a return to Nature, as wonderful and lethal as it may be. A band of teenaged boys arrive at Long Point Camp on sprawling Balsam Lake for the ultimate Canadian experience: two weeks of games, kite-making, lacrosse, sing-a-longs, marshmallow roasts, canoeing, swimming and adventure. Great War veterans, Arthur and Robert have their own approach to educating and nurturing these boys who are pugnacious with raw personalities. Arthur and Robert set off across the lake in a thirty-foot Indian war canoe with the unofficial band of brother’s leader Waller and ten of his companions. When they encounter a freak summer storm and are capsized in the middle of the churning lake, the brotherhood's holiday descends into a soul-shuddering fight for survival. Only four will survive.About the Director: Richard wrote and directed Eighteen, shot in twenty days and made with only $800, 000, it co-starred acting titans Ian McKellen and Alan Cumming, and featured a score by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. It hopscotched the world at film festivals and was broadcast on City TV and Movie Central and the Movie Network. Bell was nominated for a Genie Award for co-writing the song “In a Heartbeat”, with composer Bramwell Tovey. Bell adapted the teen novel Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet by Joanne Proulx and penned a television pilot for Brightlight Pictures, a ‘prairie noir’ based on the fleet of Russell Quant detective novels by Anthony Bidulka. Bell got his start in the industry by writing and directing the micro-budgeted indie Two Brothers. It was shot for $545.00 and went on to gross $150,000 on DVD. Richard is a graduate of Studio 58, the only conservatory-style theatre training program in Western Canada. He is an alumnus of the TIFF Talent Lab, the Praxis Centre for Screenwriters’ Screenwriting Lab, and the CFC’s Writers’ Workshop at the Whistler Film Festival. Richard recently co-executive produced Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet for producer Kim Roberts. The film stars Cameron Monaghan, Peyton List, and Juliette Lewis.Image Copyright: Richard Bell and Karma Film. Used with permission. F2F Music and Image Copyright: David Peck and Face2Face. At his wit’s end and Ken’s insistence, he sees a doctor who’s stumped andrefers the couple to a specialist. To everyone’s amazement, Greg is pregnant.Shock, stress, and fear settle in, and Greg’s relationship gets put to theultimate test.Co-starring Chris Salvatore (Eating Out: All You Can Eat, Drama Camp, TheOpen Weekend), Paternity Leave poses a modern answer to the age oldquestion: “Are we ready to be parents?”About the Production“What Paternity Leave does,” co-writer Dustin Tittle explains, “is co-opt thetraditional family and some of its roles. There’s a total blurring of the linesand it’s easy to forget it’s about two men – it’s about two people.”“When I first read the script, I laughed so much,” actor Charlie David recalls.“It’s such a wild and fun concept… Obviously, we live in a world where theidea of having babies isn’t out of the norm – but two dudes doing it is veryout of the norm. And yet, it also largely mirrors the reality of where we are…looking at gay marriage and adoption and surrogacy. It’s very relevant.”Shot in seven days, principal photography of the film began on September 1,2014 – Labor Day – in Nashville, TN. It made its world premiere at theNashville Film Festival on April 19, 2015, and its West Coast premiere atFilmOut San Diego on May 30, 2015.PATERNITY LEAVEAbout the CastJacob York (Greg), a native of Benton, KY, moved to Atlanta, GA sevenyears ago to participate in the Shakespeare Tavern’s Apprentice Program. Some of his roles include Macbeth (The Atlanta Shakespeare Company),Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest (Tennessee RepertoryTheatre), Bennett Riggs in Angry Fags (7 Stages), Tubbs in Middle School:The Musical (Alliance Theatre), and Tom in Fat Pig (Aurora Theatre). All the President's Minutes is a podcast where conversations about movies, journalism, politics and history meet. Each show we use the seminal and increasingly prescient 1976 film All The President's Men as a portal, to engage with the themes and the warnings of the film resonating since its release. For minute 126, I join film reporter, broadcaster, historian, author with almost two decades of experience working in television, Alicia Malone. Alicia and I talk about picking the "great ass" minute on her previous appearance, discuss what makes a classic in the traditional sense, beautifully written cursive notes and Pakula's hesitation in casting Robards as Bradlee. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *About Alicia Malone (via* *aliciamalone.com* ( https://aliciamalone.com/ ) *)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alicia Malone is a film reporter, broadcaster, historian, author and self-confessed movie geek, with almost two decades of experience working in television. She was born in Canberra, Australia, with a love of cinema… and horses. Her weekdays were spent trying to convince fellow high school students to join her film club, and weekends were reserved for horse-riding and self-study: making her way through film books and visiting her local video store with her never-ending watchlist of classic and foreign films, taking advantage of their seven films for seven days for seven dollars deal. The day after graduating from high school, Alicia moved to “the big smoke” of Sydney, deciding not to go to University, but to try and get work in film or television. She immediately got a job working at a video store, where she took her “staff picks” list a little too seriously, and annoyed customers by suggesting alternative films to the ones they had chosen. Not long after, at the age of 18, Alicia began to work at the national television station, Channel Seven. Her TV career began as a teleprompter operator for the Australian broadcast of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, plus the breakfast show “Sunrise” and the national news. Alicia stayed at Channel Seven for six years, trying out a variety of behind-the-scenes production roles - from graphics to director’s assistant to continuity on “Home and Away.” Then, she answered an ad for a producer, writer and editor for the cable network Movie Network - a place where she could finally put her film expertise to work. Never afraid to go after her dreams, in 2007, Alicia pitched an original show for Movie Network called “Trailer Park,” where she would serve as the producer, editor and… host. It was green-lit, and Alicia’s hosting career began, soon adding film reporter to her title after being sent to interview the stars on the red carpet and at press junkets. Over the next three years Alicia gained notice hosting more movie-centric shows for Movie Network, and working as a film critic for “FilmInk” magazine, “Triple M” radio and “The Morning Show” on national television. And then, at the end of 2010, Alicia decided to go after her dreams once more - quitting all her jobs, saying goodbye to her friends and family… and moving to Hollywood with two suitcases to her name. Since then, Alicia has appeared on the Today show, NPR, MSNBC, ABC’s Academy Awards Red Carpet Pre-show, CNN’s “The Movies” docu-series and many more as a film expert. She has also worked as a correspondent for “Fandango,” where she created the show “Indie Movie Guide,” which she hosted, produced, filmed and edited. From 2016 until its end in 2018, Alicia was hired as the host of “FilmStruck.” the streaming service for Turner Classic Movies and Criterion, and also hosted and produced “The FilmStruck Podcast.” In 2018, Alicia achieved another of her dreams, by becoming a host on Turner Classic Movies. She can currently be seen introducing the films on Sundays and Tuesdays, and hosting “TCM Imports” on Sunday nights. Alicia is also an interviewer for “Adventures in Movie Going” on the Criterion Channel, and the host of “Reel Destinations” for Focus Features. Alicia is passionate about preserving film history and encouraging new viewers to watch classic films, foreign cinema and arthouse movies. She believes in using her voice to do what she can to keep classic cinema alive, and to support women in film. In 2015, Alicia gave a TEDx talk about gender inequality in the film industry and why that needs to change. In 2017, she was invited to give a second TEDx talk, expanding on the subject further and delving into the early history of women in cinema. Alicia has also spoken about women in film at festivals and conferences around America, and was named of one the 100 #WorthyWomen of 2016 and one of LA Weekly’s People of 2019. Her first book “Backwards and in Heels” about the history of women in Hollywood was published in 2017, and her second book “The Female Gaze: Essential Movies Made by Women” was released in 2018. Alicia has traveled the world to cover the BAFTAs, the Academy Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival and SXSW. She has been on the juries of the AFI Film Festival, the Overlook Film Festival, HollyShorts and the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, and has moderated hundreds of film Q&As and panels. Alicia is also a member of the Hollywood Critics Association and over the years has interviewed almost every movie star and filmmaker you can name. She also wrote this bio, but knew it would sound much less egotistical if written in third person. *Website:* https://aliciamalone.com/ ( https://aliciamalone.com/ ) Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/one-heat-minute-productions/donations Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
