If success was mostly a matter of luck, these types of serial entrepreneurs probably wouldn't exist." - Peter Theil Gratitude: For access to water, one of life's most important necessities.

Ça n'a jamais marché. Or c'est fatigant. Pourquoi ça compte : ça retourne l'intuition dominante du "human in the loop". Bitcoin remains around $77,000 to $78,000 as rising global bond yields become the biggest macro story for crypto. U.S. Treasury yields are approaching 4.8%, energy prices remain elevated, and markets are increasingly pricing in another Fed rate hike as Kevin Warsh maintains his focus on inflation. ETF buyers did return Monday with approximately $216.7 million in inflows, but Matt argues Bitcoin still needs to defend the $75K to $77K range and finally establish $80K as support before declaring the bear market finished. Meanwhile, Strategy bought another roughly $370 million of Bitcoin, Strive added another $143 million, and ARK Invest increased its exposure to Jack Dorsey's Block. The episode also covers a $75 million Cronos DeFi exploit, George Santos reportedly being banned from Kalshi for trading a market involving himself, Robinhood Chain approaching $1 billion in daily DEX volume, the explosive Artificial Inu trade, and OpenSea bringing Solana NFTs back to its multichain marketplace. It's to help them become more complete leaders and people.Success Beyond Business• Phoenix began competing in track and field at age 50 and became a highly competitive masters sprinter.• His definition of success goes beyond money or titles: being able to look in the mirror and feel good about the person looking back.Final ThoughtsTruth is a competitive advantage. As companies grow, CEOs need better information, trusted people willing to challenge them, and systems that expose problems before they become crises. And ultimately, building a great company means little if you lose yourself in the process.Want to See Your Organization as It Actually Is?OrgTruth helps CEOs identify the signals, contradictions, and issues that may never reach them through traditional reporting structures. They start with Dick's early comedy days (Second City alongside Steve Carell, two SNL auditions that didn't pan out) and his stint writing for HBO's Silicon Valley, before diving into his path from founding FeedBurner to running Twitter through its IPO — including candid stories about the culture shift from private to public company life, and a surreal late-night run-in with Jack Dorsey in Paris in the middle of Elon Musk's takeover drama. From there they get into Dick's venture firm, 01 Advisors, and his thesis on investing in the AI "enablement layer" (the infrastructure sitting above the models) rather than chasing the flashiest apps. Dick shares his read on today's eye-popping valuations — including Stripe's $7 billion acquisition of OpenRouter and a leaked investor letter claiming "the singularity happened on New Year's Day" — and gives his predictions for the coming wave of AI IPOs, arguing Anthropic and SpaceX are well positioned while OpenAI could face a tougher road given its executive turnover and messaging challenges. They close by talking about prediction markets (and the striking gap between how well people think they're doing on platforms like Kalshi versus reality), before wrapping up with a plug for Dick's own podcast, the Dick and Paul Show. —FOLLOW USYouTube: @RiskReversalMediaInstagram: @riskreversalmediaTwitter: @RiskReversalLinkedIn: RiskReversal Media The financial opinions expressed in Risk Reversal content are for information purposes only. Two years ago, Square tore up its general-manager model and rebuilt the entire company around functional excellence. In this episode of The Product Podcast, Carlos (CEO at Product School) sits down with Willem Avé, Global Head of Product at Square (part of Block), to unpack why they made that bet, what it costs, and how AI is now reshaping the org itself.Willem started at Block as a CTO whose company was acquired, grew up through engineering, and has seen every era of the company from the little white card reader to today's multiple product ecosystems. He explains why orgs should be built around customer outcomes (and how quality degrades the further you drift from that principle), why hardware demands a different kind of craft than software, and how Jack Dorsey's thinking pushed them toward the idea of running Block like a "mini AGI company," where AI encodes institutional knowledge instead of red tape and process. Then he opens up a live demo of "manager bot," an agent that lets a small-business owner delegate real tasks (like an inventory workflow for a bakery) without worrying about memory, connectors, or prompts. He closes with a genuine hot take on TAM and what AI agents mean for the size of the market Square can serve. What you'll learn:- Why Square replaced general managers with a fully functionalized org, and what "functional excellence" buys you- How to organize teams around customer outcomes, and why quality drops the further you drift- Why hardware craft (approachable, reliable, "it just works") differs from software craft- What it means to run a company like a "mini AGI," and how AI can encode knowledge instead of process- Why the era of the simple question-answer chatbot is ending, and what replaces it- A live look at "manager bot": delegating real business tasks to an agent- Why small-business owners want outcomes, not memory, connectors, or prompt-craft- Willem's hot take on TAM, and how agents expand who Square can serve- Why economic empowerment and democratizing advanced technology is the throughlineChapters:00:00 Trailer01:32 Inside Square and Block: how the teams are designed03:34 The four orgs: audiences, platform, growth, money04:46 Marrying hardware and software in one function05:56 Finding leaders who understand both worlds07:25 The DRI model and killing the silent veto09:16 Can everyone report to one person?11:12 Why flat orgs still need great managers12:41 Building for people who are not on X every day14:41 The loneliness of running a business17:24 Demo: Manager Bot doing real work20:19 Why AI should not create more work for sellers22:13 Hot take: TAM is almost infinite24:22 Killing the fragmented point solution stack26:06 WhatsApp, Instagram, and the comms problem27:54 Buzz and what nobody has solved yet28:34 ClosingConnect with Willem Avé:Global Head of Product, Square (Block)LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/willem-ave/Host: Carlos, CEO at Product School:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/villaumbrosia/About Square: Square, part of Block, builds payments hardware and software plus a broader ecosystem of tools that help sellers and small businesses run and grow. Every company building AI right now is asking the same question: if the models keep getting better and anyone can access them, what actually makes us defensible? Avi Bharadwaj writes the checks that answer that question. As an Investment Director at Intel Capital, he focuses on the software infrastructure layer of AI, backing companies like Scale AI, Bria, TrueFoundry, and Twelve Labs.In this episode of Talking AI, Avi sits down with Matt Paige to break down exactly where moats are showing up as frontier models commoditize intelligence. He walks through five specific layers of defensibility for application companies (unique data, workflow and system of action, product reimagination, integration, and trust and compliance) and explains why the infrastructure between the model and the application is where most enterprise AI projects actually stall. The conversation covers why building for the gap between what frontier models can and can't do is a losing strategy (because the gap is ever-shrinking), why the chatbot era was brief and agents are now first-class citizens, how Avi uses an agent on Claude Cowork to scan Hacker News and Reddit overnight and enter emerging companies into his CRM by morning, and why he's most excited about world models and the emergent abilities that might come from scaling them. The episode closes with Avi's advice for founders: don't build things that fit the current gap in model capability. Build things that improve as the model improves. And his honest take on being a VC: at best you're a sidekick for founders, at worst you're a detractor. In this episode, you'll hear about:Five layers of defensibility that frontier models can't commoditize. Why unique data, not just more data, is the moat that still matters. The shift from chatbots to deeply embedded agentic workflows in enterprise. How Avi uses Claude Cowork agents to automate deal sourcing and financial analysis. Why specialized foundation models still win in domains like licensed imagery, industrial robotics, and edge inference. The Figma/Claude Design moment and what it means for how VCs underwrite platform risk. Why context engineering is becoming its own discipline and the mistake of treating models like if-else loops. Co-founders Dr. Salman Avestimehr and Dr. Aiden He join the podcast to discuss their new "agentic" company, Teamily AI. They dive into how their platform is disrupting the social landscape by weaving multi-agent AI into group chats, enabling groups, friends, and families to interact with virtual friends, essentially creating a collaborative environment where AI acts as a participant that anticipates needs and remembers the full context of a conversation. This conversation explores the core value proposition of an AI-first social platform—not just making an individual superhuman, but enabling a collective of human and AI agents to do "fascinating things together." The founders detail their technology, which is built on deep expertise in distributed machine learning and multi-agent systems, and their long-term vision to IPO and evolve the very nature of social networks by bridging the gap between human and artificial intelligence. In the news segment, Charlie Fink and Rony Abovitz unpack the week's biggest AI stories: Ben Affleck selling his stealth AI film company, Interpositive, to Netflix; Anthropic's Claude briefly dethroning OpenAI's ChatGPT in the app store; and a deep dive into Jack Dorsey's company Block cutting 4,000 employees. The hosts also discuss the social fallout of AI acceleration, particularly the counter-movement seeking tactile, real-world connection and the economic risk of displacing white-collar data analysts.Key Moments00:03:00 – App Store War: Discussing Anthropic's Claude topping the app charts and why the US Department of Defense will use the best AI system regardless of corporate objection.00:04:00 – Hollywood's AI Play: Netflix acquiring Ben Affleck's AI company, Interpositive, which uses unedited film dailies to train an AI for editing and optimization.00:05:00 – The Mediocrity Threat: Rony Abovitz's take on the risk of AI creating a "very, very long tail of Okay" content, leading to a cultural sameness.00:07:00 – Counter-Culture: Exploring the growing emotional need for "something real" and a massive movement away from purely digital experiences.00:09:00 – The White-Collar Risk: The hosts argue that the white-collar data analyst is the worker "most easy to replace" by AI, contrasting with the high value of blue-collar workers.00:11:00 – The "Oh Wow" Moment: Charlie Fink describes his first experience with Teamily AI, noting the immediate power of real-time, multi-person and multi-agent prompting.00:13:00 – The Science Behind Teamily: Dr. Aiden He, PhD in Machine Learning, explains how Teamily is built upon his previous research in distributed learning and multi-agent systems.00:26:00 – Global Memory: Aiden details Teamily's unique "cross domain, long horizon memory," which allows the AI to combine human-human chat context with human-AI memory for a more natural interaction. The biggest takeaway is the conceptual shift from using AI as a solo productivity tool to using it as a collaborative team member. The path to the next phase of social networking hinges on building platforms where AI is not isolated but is a natural, evolving part of a human community. This episode of The AI XR Podcast is brought to you by Zappar, the folks behind Mattercraft, a leading visual development environment for building immersive 3D web experiences for mobile headsets and desktop. How SpaceX's IPO Bailed Out Elon Musk's Twitter Investors

Elon Musk Pod

SpaceX's $1.75 trillion IPO wasn't just a liquidity event for Elon Musk. It was the final step in a four-year bailout of the investors who backed his $44 billion Twitter acquisition. The SpaceX IPO closed an "amalgamation escalator" that converted depreciated Twitter equity into premium SpaceX stock, delivering a nearly 200% return to the private partners who'd been stuck holding the bag since 2022.This episode breaks down how the Twitter-to-SpaceX pipeline actually worked. The mechanics: Twitter merged with xAI in March 2025 at a $33 billion valuation, wiping out Twitter's standalone losses on paper. xAI then merged into SpaceX in February 2026. When SpaceX went public in June at $1.75 trillion, every original Twitter investor (the Saudi PIF, Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Larry Ellison, Jack Dorsey) ended up holding SpaceX Class A shares worth roughly triple what they'd paid for the original Twitter position. The financial mechanics are clean. The governance questions aren't. SpaceX's multi-class share structure gives Musk absolute voting control regardless of his economic stake. The xAI absorption diluted core SpaceX value (launch and Starlink) to subsidize an AI division that lost $14 billion last year. And the $1.75 trillion valuation depends partly on SpaceX's pivot to space-based AI data centers, a technical bet that analysts are openly skeptical about. The SpaceX IPO also lands in the middle of an AI capex cycle that's pricing in perfection. Anthropic just filed for an IPO at $965 billion. OpenAI filed at $852 billion. SpaceX bought Cursor for $60 billion days after going public. The "Muskonomy" thesis (cross-subsidizing underperforming ventures with star assets, then taking the bundle public) only works if public market investors keep paying premium multiples on operational losses. This episode covers how Twitter equity got laundered into SpaceX stock, why the Saudi PIF was the biggest winner of the SpaceX IPO, what Musk's dual-class share structure means for minority shareholders, and whether the "amalgamation escalator" model becomes the template for the next wave of private-market exits. Keywords: SpaceX IPO, Elon Musk Twitter, $1.75 trillion valuation, xAI merger, Musk Twitter bailout, SpaceX Class A shares, amalgamation escalator, Saudi PIF, Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Muskonomy, AI IPO 2026, dual-class shares, space data centers.

On the Evolving Wellness podcast, host Sarah Kleiner interviews Dr. Leland Stillman (general internist; Substack Dr. Stillman Uncensored) about leaving conventional medicine, speaking out on COVID and vaccines, and building a practice largely serving autoimmune, chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia, long COVID, and reported vaccine-injury patients; he says many symptoms cluster around pain, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, and depression. Stillman argues lab values can fluctuate widely (often ~20% day to day, sometimes far more), making single readings, thyroid-replacement strategies based on free T3, and AI-generated direct-to-consumer lab reports misleading; he cites reference-range issues (e.g., cholesterol cutoffs) and emphasizes repeat testing and clinical context. He discusses his book The End of Autoimmunity, reporting a 2025 survey of 103 patients with self-reported gains in wellbeing, energy, sleep, and cognition, and outlines a “14 Day Reset” centered on morning sunlight, walking, hydration, earlier bedtime, and dimming lights. Names mentioned include Dr. Anna Maria Temple, Chris Exley, Catherine Austin Fitts, Del Bigtree, Brian Johnson, Neil Stone, Jack Dorsey, Glenn Jeffrey, and Dr. Tina, alongside brands VivaRays and Boncharge.— Links Mentioned in the video: https://store.stillmanmd.com/discount/SARAHKLEINER?ref=SARAHKhttps://stillmanmd.com/autoimmunity/https://x.com/StillmanMD?mx=2 https://www.instagram.com/stillmanmd/  https://drstillmanuncensored.com/ _________Sponsored By:→ VivaRays | This episode is sponsored by VivaRays - VivaRays Blue - code YOGI https://vivarays.com/→ Bon Charge | Go to https://boncharge.com/products/demi-red-light-device?rfsn=8108115.26608d & use code SARAHKLEINER for 15% off storewide._________Timestamp:00:00 Coming up00:50 Podcast Intro Disclaimer02:04 Meet Dr Stillman04:02 COVID Skeptic To Autoimmunity Practice09:32 Host Vaccine Mandate Story12:19 Vaccine Injury Autoimmunity Debate26:27 Lab Variability And AI Reports34:50 Deplatforming and Scams35:53 COVID Censorship and 5G37:41 Controlled Opposition Online38:38 Thriving Outside the Narrative42:28 Healing Framework That Works53:51 14 Day Reset Needle Movers01:03:08 Community Resilience and Wrap Up——— This video is not medical advice & as a supporter to you and your health journey - I encourage you to monitor your labs and work with a professional!________________________________________Get all my free guides and product recommendations to get started on your journey!https://www.sarahkleinerwellness.com/all-free-resourcesCheck out all my courses to understand how to improve your mitochondrial health & experience long lasting health! Eugene Jarecki joins to discuss his new Julian Assange documentary The Six Billion Dollar Man, filmed over seven years across 15 countries under high security conditions. We get into WikiLeaks as a breakthrough for whistleblowers, Bitcoin's early role in keeping WikiLeaks alive after Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal cut it off, and why Assange's story remains central to freedom of information. Then we go deep on the broken state of film distribution, why legacy media and streamers will not touch the film, Jack Dorsey's idea to release it through Bitcoiners first, and the experiment to make Bitcoin supporters official producers of the film before a wider release. The Six Billion Dollar Man: https://thesixbilliondollarman.comEugene on Nostr: https://primal.net/eugeneEPISODE: 202BLOCK: 949106PRICE: 1249 sats per dollarmore info on the show: https://citadeldispatch.comlearn more about me: https://odell.xyzmonitor the situation: https://citadelwire.comten31: https://ten31.xyzopensats: https://opensats.org

Episode 744 kicks off with new merch in the wild and the ongoing expansion of the “protect the children from the internet” playbook. Manitoba is floating a ban on social media and AI chatbots for kids with details still TBD, while the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee somehow managed unanimous approval on chatbot age-verification legislation. Utah, not to be outdone, passed SB 73 — a law that tries to pin age verification on VPN users and even bans sites from explaining what a VPN is, a move that will mostly degrade the internet without solving the problem it claims to address. Meanwhile, John Oliver finally unloaded on the AI industry, echoing long-standing criticisms: rushed products, acknowledged risks, and outsourced consequences. In the news, a U.S. Army Special Forces master sergeant was arrested for allegedly turning classified intel about the Maduro capture into a $400K Polymarket win, then attempting to cover it up in ways that suggest poor operational planning. Meta cut more than 1,100 Kenyan content moderators after reports surfaced that they were exposed to explicit footage from smart glasses users, raising serious questions about labor practices in AI pipelines. Google signed a Pentagon AI deal despite internal backlash while posting massive revenue gains, underscoring where incentives actually land. OpenAI, meanwhile, is juggling missed targets, a shift away from Microsoft exclusivity, and continued reputational hits around Sam Altman — including a widely criticized apology tied to a mass shooting and a fabricated Bruno Mars tie-in for his World project. Add in a failed retrial bid from Sam Bankman-Fried, rising volumes of AI-generated web content, and political interference with the National Science Board, and the signal is clear: incentives are misaligned across the board. On the lighter side, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns July 23rd for its penultimate season, and Ted Lasso is back August 5th, for better or worse. Jack Dorsey beat the inevitable Elon attempt to reboot Vine with Divine, reviving six-second loops with a decentralized backbone and anti-AI safeguards. Apple continues its slow AI rollout with new photo editing tools, while Google pushes further into data aggregation with wardrobe-level photo analysis. Hardware check: Logitech's MX Keys S lands as a heavier, brighter $119 iteration. In books, Peter Clines delivers with God's Junk Drawer, while Martha Wells signals that the Murderbot series may be nearing its end. The Dark Side with Dave ties it together with gun storage PSAs, Disneyland lore, Galaxy's Edge playlists, and a conversational detour through Super Dave, Martin Short, and the ongoing quirks of instant replay in baseball.Show notes at https://gog.show/744Watch on YouTube at https://youtu.be/P3NOSXlCs9EFOLLOW UPNew Merch!Canadian premier wants to ban social media and AI chatbots for kids in ManitobaSenate Judiciary Committee unanimously approves AI chatbot age verificationUtah's New Law Targeting VPNs Goes Into Effect Next WeekJohn Oliver Just Took the AI Industry Behind a Shed and Beat It With a Pipe WrenchIN THE NEWSUS soldier arrested for allegedly making over $400,000 on Polymarket with classified Maduro informationMeta in row after workers who say they saw smart glasses users having sex lose jobsGoogle employees ask Sundar Pichai to say no to classified military AI useGoogle Signs Pentagon AI Deal Despite Employee BacklashGoogle Gives OpenAI 20 Billion Reasons To WorryOpenAI's Sam Altman apologizes for not reporting ChatGPT account of Tumbler Ridge suspect to policeSam Altman Caught in What May Be His Most Spectacular Lie YetOpenAI ends its exclusive partnership with Microsoft‘Never Talk About Goblins': OpenAI's Instructions to Codex Have a Weirdly Emphatic No-Creatures PolicySam Bankman-Fried Seems to Annoy Judge and Lose Latest Motion for New TrialDead Internet Theory Is 17% of the Way to Becoming Reality, Study FindsMatt Mullenweg thinks WordPress is in decline. Have you ever wondered why top CEOs and world-class fighters use hunger as a secret weapon to sharpen their focus and outwork everyone else? I gathered highlights from previous show episodes about fasting. I chat with Kyle about how he uses a clock to manage hunger. Joel Staley explains the science of fasts that go for days. He breaks down how insulin works so you avoid starvation. I share how aminos keep muscle and help the brain. We look at how Jack Dorsey and George Saint Pierre use hunger to get focus. I explain how giving the gut a break leads to repair. This show gives you a way to build willpower. I want you to see how hunger makes you a hunter Key Takeaways Intermittent Fasting as a Framework: A 16:8 structure acts as a "nutritional insurance policy" to manage cravings and prevent overeating during busy seasons. The 24-Hour Autophagy Curve: Completing a 24-hour fast provides three and a half times the cellular cleaning (autophagy) benefits of a 16-hour fast. The 36-Hour Euphoria: Entering deep ketosis around the 36-hour mark often leads to a state of high energy and mental clarity. Hormonal Growth: Prolonged fasts (48–72 hours) can skyrocket human growth hormone (HGH) by up to 2,400% in men. Brain Health and BDNF: Fasting stimulates Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor, which can increase learning speed and mental sharpness by up to 400%. The Role of Aminos: Utilizing leucine and glutamine during a fast protects muscle mass, supports neurotransmitters, and aids gut repair. Jack Dorsey and Sequoia's Roelof Botha published a sweeping essay arguing that AI can replace the information-routing function of hierarchy itself — and Block is betting the company on it. Stanford Just Proved 87% of All Economic Growth Came From Replacing Humans — And AI Is About to Do It Again, Just Slower Than You Think

The Future of Work With Jacob Morgan

April 3, 2026: Two major academic papers dropped today alongside fresh labor market data, and together they paint the clearest picture yet of what AI will actually do to the economy and to work. Stanford economists show that 87% of U.S. productivity growth since 1950 came from automation — and explain why AI's impact will be real but slower than the hype due to "weak links" in production. A Chicago Fed forecasting paper reveals that even expert economists admit the range of outcomes is genuinely wide. On top of that: AI is now the #1 cited reason for tech layoffs, a new Forrester study finds most workers still don't know how to use the AI tools their companies deployed, Jack Dorsey argues AI should replace middle management entirely, a startup built an AI coworker that monitors your work and reports to your boss, and OpenAI just bought a media company to control the narrative. Seven stories, one through line: the disruption is real, the timeline is uncertain, and the window to prepare is open right now. Jack Dorsey says middle managers will be replaced by AI. Block CEO Jack Dorsey argues that his company's decision to cut approximately 40% employees was not a cost reduction but a permanent restructuring to replace middle managers with AI. But current and former Block employees are pushing back, saying that roughly 95% of AI-generated code changes still require human modification. Host Ron Steslow welcomes Mike Brock, CEO of TBD, a subsidiary of Block Inc. (formerly Square), the financial technology firm led by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. The Internet is dominated by massive, corporate walled gardens like Google, Facebook, and Twitter (now X), where centralized control makes their users (us!) vulnerable to censorship and manipulation. In this episode, we explore how the movement to decentralize technology empowers individuals, protects against corporate and government abuse, and addresses real problems in finance and social media. We'll also discuss how decentralized technology can enhance financial access and freedom, bypassing intermediaries and censorship, and shifting power from financial corporations to individuals. Finally, we turn to the political landscape, focusing on the Democratic party's approach to decentralized technology and early signs it may be changing. Segments to look forward to: (04:45) Mike's background  (10:50) Empowering individuals through decentralized finance and identity  (15:45) Building infrastructure for a decentralized future  (19:10) The potential of decentralized identity  (29:49) The importance of Bitcoin's decentralization  (31:31) Financial Access and Freedom  (34:27) Preserving agency  (44:44) Changing the balance of power  (50:54) The varied stance of the Democratic party Follow Ron and Mike on X (formerly Twitter): https://twitter.com/RonSteslow https://x.com/brockm Email your questions to podcast@politicology.com or leave us a voicemail at ‪(202) 455-4558‬ Learn more about your ad choices. Starting off in FOLLOW UP, we've got a tax economist who actually made money betting against the "efficiency" of Elon's budget-slashing fever dreams, while Tesla is busy trying to dodge a $243 million jury verdict for an Autopilot-assisted fatality. Not content with being legally liable, Tesla is also suing the California DMV because they're offended someone called their "Autopilot" and "Full Self-Driving" marketing deceptive—ironic, since Jack Dorsey just "proactively" halved the staff at Block to make room for more AI slop. Speaking of which, Goldman Sachs is here to remind us that all this AI spending added a grand total of zero to the US GDP last year, mostly because we're just exporting all that cash to overseas chip makers while 80% of execs admit the tech hasn't actually done anything for productivity yet.Moving into IN THE NEWS, Sam Altman had the audacity to compare ChatGPT's energy-sucking habits to the 20-year evolution of a human, though the internet wasn't exactly buying the "my bot is just like a baby" defense. Anthropic actually stood its ground against the Pentagon's demand for killer robots and mass surveillance, so naturally, the military just signed a deal to put Elon's Grok in their classified systems instead—because what could go wrong with an "edgy" LLM in the war room? Meanwhile, cities are dumping AI surveillance contracts as citizens start a literal "smash-the-snitch-box" campaign against Flock's license plate readers, Google's AI is busy inserting racial slurs into news alerts, and the White House is apparently harboring a staffer moonlighting as a racist "masterpiece" creator on X. We've also got Reddit being slapped with a $20 million fine in the UK for being lazy with age checks, while Discord and Apple scramble to build verification tools that hopefully won't leak your entire identity to a hacker in Belarus. In MEDIA CANDY, the Paramount-Skydance merger is leaving the industry in a cold sweat of "synergy" layoffs, but at least we're getting more Game of Thrones spinoffs and Star Trek reboots to rot our brains. Face/Off 2 lost its director, Ryan Coogler is taking on The X-Files, and Google wants to use AI to turn music into generic "lo-fi" background noise for the masses.Over in APPS & DOODADS, OpenAI is planning a 2027 smart speaker that literally watches you through a camera—because you definitely wanted a $300 Sam Altman-shaped eye in your kitchen—while the Dark Sky creators are back with "Acme Weather" for the low price of $25 a year.We wrap up THE DARK SIDE WITH DAVE with a deep dive into "Under Pressure" and Coruscant's urban sprawl, leaving us to reminisce about the days when KPT Bryce was the pinnacle of tech—back when "generative art" was just a fractal that took six hours to render.Sponsors:DeleteMe - Get 20% off your DeleteMe plan when you go to JoinDeleteMe.com/GOG and use promo code GOG at checkout.SquareSpace - go to squarespace.com/GRUMPY for a free trial. Episode 789: Neal and Ann dive into why Netflix has walked away from acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery after Paramount makes another counter offer. Then, Jack Dorsey's Block cuts nearly half of his staff due to AI, and he thinks companies will ultimately do the same. Meanwhile, more and more Americans are packing up their bags and moving away. Also, Waymo expands into more cities. Papa John's closes hundreds of stores. And Doritos launches protein chips.  Subscribe to Morning Brew Daily for more of the news you need to start your day. If you thought the internet was a dumpster fire before, the EU LAUNCHES SECOND INVESTIGATION INTO GROK because Musk's bot won't stop generating nonconsensual imagery. Meanwhile, META LARGELY FAILS TO PROTECT KIDS FROM AI CHATBOTS, proving that their internal safety checks are about as effective as a screen door on a submarine. If that doesn't creep you out, AFTER RING PRIVACY BACKLASH over police partnerships, a LEAKED EMAIL SUGGESTS RING PLANS TO EXPAND ‘SEARCH PARTY' from finding lost dogs to total neighborhood surveillance. Of course, REDDIT, META, AND GOOGLE VOLUNTARILY GAVE DHS INFO on users critical of ICE, because why stand up for privacy when you can just comply? In the news, we look at OPENCLAW, OPENAI AND THE FUTURE as the project's founder joins the Borg, even though META AND OTHER TECH FIRMS PUT RESTRICTIONS ON USE OF OPENCLAW because it's basically a security hole that can click your mouse for you. Peak stupidity has arrived with RFK JR'S NEW CHATBOT giving rectal dietary advice, while AI COMPANIES BOUGHT OUT ALL OF WESTERN DIGITAL'S HARD DRIVES through 2026, meaning you can't have storage because the bots need it more. Even VALVE ADMITS STEAM DECK AVAILABILITY IS AFFECTED by this memory hoarding. We also touch on STEVE BANNON SUED OVER MAGA CRYPTO SCHEME, LOS ANGELES COUNTY FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST ROBLOX for being a safety nightmare, and the fact that TESLA ROBOTAXIS REPORTEDLY CRASHING at four times the human rate. TESLA DODGES 30-DAY SUSPENSION by simply killing the word "Autopilot," while NEW YORK HITS THE BRAKES ON ROBOTAXI EXPANSION to keep the chaos at bay. Finally, POLYMARKET WITHDRAWS EXPLOSIVE ARTEMIS BETTING MARKET because betting on dead astronauts is too much even for them, leading the ETHEREUM CREATOR STARTING TO THINK THIS WHOLE PREDICTION MARKET THING MIGHT BE GAMBLING. As NEVADA SUES KALSHI and Jack Dorsey oversees INSIDE THE ROLLING LAYOFFS AT JACK DORSEY'S BLOCK—using AI to summarize the misery of his employees—just remember: YOU'LL BE SORRY WHEN YOU HEAR WHAT JUSTIN BIEBER'S $1.3 MILLION BORED APE IS WORTH NOW. Hint: it's twelve grand. In this week's MEDIA CANDY, we've got FREE BERT, KAT WILLIAMS: THE LAST REPORT, and the eternal return of SHREK. We're checking out MARK ROBER on Netflix, the return of MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS, and the trailer for GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE. If you need a soundtrack for the apocalypse, Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq has you covered with STOP USING GENERATIVE A.I and the Gen-X anthem I'VE NO MORE F*S TO GIVE!.Moving to APPS & DOODADS, OBSIDIAN TO NOTES is a $14 well spent, unlike CURSOR and VISUAL STUDIO CODE which are getting bogged down by slow models. APPLE'S AI PENDANT sounds like a watered-down Humane pin that relies on your phone to think, and APPLE PODCASTS AND VIDEO remains a pipe dream because bandwidth costs money. We've reached the point where THERE'S A GRIM NEW EXPRESSION: “AI;DR” for things not worth reading, and THERE'S A NEW TERM FOR WORKERS FREAKING OUT over being replaced—AIRD, or AI Replacement Dysfunction—which is basically the low-grade panic of being made obsolete by a machine that thinks bananas go in your bum.AT THE LIBRARY, we're thumbing through CLEAVE THE SPARROW, THE REGICIDE REPORT by Charles Stross, and Robin Ince being NORMALLY WEIRD AND WEIRDLY NORMAL.Then we descend into THE DARK SIDE WITH DAVE, where the Muppets are taking over with THE MUPPET SHOW and MUPPETS NOW. We catch the latest on THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU and TOY STORY 5, while tracking the PENTAGON PIZZA INDEX to see if war is breaking out. For the kids, we look at a 3D PRINTER / ENTRY LEVEL FOR KIDS like the Bambu Lab A1, and for the nerds, A STAR WARS-CENTRIC RSS FEED and a NEAT IDEA FOR AN RSS READER, “CURRENT,” which lets news drift away like water under a bridge. We wrap it all up with some HORROR IN UNDER TWO MINUTES and IMPECCABLE COVERS OF 80S SYNTH MUSIC, because at least the 80s had better soundtracks than this AI-generated nightmare.Sponsors:DeleteMe - Get 20% off your DeleteMe plan when you go to JoinDeleteMe.com/GOG and use promo code GOG at checkout.SquareSpace - go to squarespace.com/GRUMPY for a free trial.
