Does the legal jargon make your head spin as a health coach? Do you wish running your business was as easy as sipping a green smoothie?    Lisa Fraley, an attorney and legal coach, shares some great insights on the legal landscape of the health and wellness industry. She provides valuable advice on avoiding common legal pitfalls and setting up compliant health coaching practices. She demystifies the complex legal issues to help you understand the legalities that come with the health coaching business so you can focus on helping clients without legal worries. Whether you are a health coach, a doctor or any other licensed medical professional, this episode has some great insights for you!   In this episode, they talk about: How can a burned-out psychologist hire health coaches to work while complying with HIPAA How can doctors hire health coaches to work with their patients Differences between functional medicine and functional wellness coaching Can health coaches work with labs HIPAA compliance requirements for health coaches working with medical practices Changes in telemedicine laws, especially post-pandemic  Risks of using medical titles (e.g., Dr.) in health coaching practices Difference between licensed medical professionals and health coaches Can licensed medical professionals sell their books on a health coaching website Rules for health coaches practicing online in green and red states How to get a free 20-minute legal chat with Lisa's team   Memorable Quotes   “It's frustrating when we want to be holistic and help people holistically and reach people farther and wider. But the law just isn't still quite there yet.”   “Doctors are doctors, and health coaches are health coaches. If a doctor wants to become a health coach, they need to go get trained as a health coach and become a health coach. Or they can educate people from their medical background, but they can't cross the two. They have to be separate because one is licensed and one is not.”   BIO: Lisa Fraley, JD  is an Attorney, Legal Coach®, and Holistic Lawyer®. Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Episode 1097; Future of sustainability reporting to retailers and financial markets - the development of globally standardized metrics Welcome to Wine2Wine Business Forum 2021 Series. The sessions are recorded and uploaded on Italian Wine Podcast. wine2wine is an international wine business forum, held annually in Verona Italy since 2014. The event is a key reference point for wine producers and a diverse variety of wine professionals eager to develop and grow their wine business worldwide. About today's session: “Sustainability” in the wine industry oscillates between being the most important topic for the future of the industry and a useless buzzword. The key to making sustainable wine into something tangible and easy to understand for consumers, buyers, journalists and the industry itself is covering the whole supply chain in the work, finding an industry wide agreement on the most important practices, and including science backed metrics. About the Speakers EricaLandinLöfving is the Chief Sustainability Officer of the publicly traded wine group Vintage Wine Estates (Nasdaq: VWE) in California. She joined VWE in June of 2021 after many years as a sustainability focused wine writer in Sweden (Decanter, Allt om Vin, Wine Enthusiast, Meininger's WBI etc) and consultant in sustainable food systems and certifications (Systembolaget, ICA Group, Orkla, Electrolux…) Mrs. Landin-Lofving has a MSc. in Biology, continued studies in Oenology, WSET III, Sustainable Business Strategy and financial ESG analysis. Though she likes the sustainability impact of working with larger companies, her favorite wines often come from small family producers or “natural” wine projects. 36 - Opportunities for impact in the mining industry

The Impact Investing Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 9, 2021 69:06

Mining is an inherently challenging industry from an impact perspective since it's all about the removal and consumption of the earth's limited natural resources. The manner in which we have historically mined these resources has caused great harm to people, communities, and our planet. At the same time, our existence (as it stands today) absolutely depends on mining to provide everything from the minerals we use in virtually all of our toiletries (makeup, vitamins, toothpaste, soap, etc.) and the fertilizer we use to grow food, to the metals we use essential to necessities like cars, buildings, roads, mobile phones, and medical equipment. Plus, mining is a massive industry that contributes greatly to wealth creation for an exceedingly large number of people globally. In Canada, nearly 700,000 people work either directly or indirectly in mining and receive the highest average wage/salaries of any industry in the country. Since it isn't possible in the foreseeable future to stop mining entirely it seems abundantly clear we need to shift our focus to reducing demand and improving mining sustainability. Enter today's guest, Elizabeth Freele, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Sympact Advisory, based in Vancouver, Canada. Liz, is a passionate social sustainability strategist and futurist entrepreneur, supporting everything from pre-seed to mature enterprises in challenging operational environments across the Americas, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. She holds an MBA from IE Business School, a certificate in Sustainable Business Strategy from Harvard Business School, and a BA in Political Science and Global Development from Western University. Liz and her colleagues at Sympact work with companies to help improve their social performance to foster both company and community resilience. And given Liz's long background in the mining industry, the organization has quickly established a stronghold there. In today's episode, I sit down with Liz to flesh out the nuances of the ESG impacts of the mining industry from an ESG perspective and the practical opportunities for improving its sustainability.
