At 18, she was cast as Dick Van Patton's niece in a nationally televised Christmas special, “The Gift of Song”, starring a host of country music stars. Relocating to LA in the early 90's, she studied at the South Coast Repertory and Beverly Hills Playhouse and has starred in countless stage productions all over LA, including "Blue Moon Dancing" by Ed Graczyk, "In the City for the Summer" (Variety singled out her gritty performance), and the farcical, outrageous "And Then There was Nun" which played to sold out houses for 2 extensions, where she did a hilarious sendup of Gloria Swanson. She was a long time member of the Company of Angels, LA's oldest repertory theatre, winning a Dramalogue Award for her saucy, sword-wielding performance in the mainstage production of “Zastrozzi”. She appeared in an iconic video for Weird Al Yankovic, spoofing Tanya Harding in the "Mmmm Mmmm" song (where she did her own figure skating). She appeared in several episodes of "Days of Our Lives" and had a small but pivotal role in "The Landlady" starring Talia Shire. In 2013, she was cast as one of the three leads in a hilarious coming-of-middle-age web series called "Living the Dream", and in 2015, she had the starring role in "Only the Moon Howls", a moving one act which won the Encore! Award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Her performance was singled out for its "deep emotional access" and hailed as "heartbreaking", "truthful", "sensitive" and "vulnerable". A film version of the piece is planned for late 2015. In 2001, she landed a plum role, singing for Betty and President Gerald Ford in Palm Springs. Over the years, she has recorded and performed with some of the greatest jazz musicians on the west coast. She has performed in St. Petersburg, Russia, Dublin Ireland and in west coast venues such as Spazio, Vitello's, The Money Tree, Barone's, Monteleone's, The San Ysidro Ranch (Santa Barbara), Vicky's of Santa Fe (Palm Springs) and the Canyon Club. She appeared with Gary Tole's "Legends of Swing" orchestra and the Doug MacDonald's 13-piece "Jazz Coalition". When it comes to the Olympics, it seems as if there are always certain athletes that give the Games this personal touch for us. Let's go back to the 1994 Winter Olympics. I remember we all wanted to see the women's skating showdown between Nancy Kerrigan and Tanya Harding. In 1998, it was two teenagers named Michelle and Tara. Michelle Kwan was heavily favored to leave Japan and the Olympics with that gold medal; 15-year old Tara Lipinski was expected to bring home the silver maybe. But in a stunning performance, and an Olympic upset, young Tara Lipinski captured the gold. Michelle Kwan, who had skated an almost flawless program, was disappointed but she was gracious. She won a silver medal that so many would love to win, but you know it still had to hurt. Some of that hurt slipped out as she sent a message to her family, and TV carried it around the world. She said, "I love you, Mom and Dad, and Karen and Jimmy. I hope you still love me." Ouch! I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Love Even When You Lose." "I hope you still love me." That's not just a feeling a disappointed Olympian has felt. Many of us have had those moments when we have wondered, "Can you love me like this? I mean, the way I've failed you or hurt you? I'm not very lovable right now." It's just a fact that a lot of love in our lives is "performance love." People will love us if we perform. Sales people know a company and co-workers base your worth on this month's sales. Did you get the grades? Did you get the win? But who loves you when you lose? When you're not as young and attractive anymore? Who loves you when you've blown it? When you can't do the things that have always brought you approval? You may know all too well the sting of love that used to be there for you. The love that was supposed to always be there, but it's gone. Conditional love. There are lots of people who are willing to say, "I love you if..." What your heart cries for, though, and mine too, is someone who will just say, "I love you. There is nothing you can do to make me love you more. There is nothing you can do to make me love you less. I have made my choice. I love you. That will never change." Maybe you think that kind of "never-leave-you" love is impossible. Well, there really is a love you cannot lose, because it's a love you cannot earn. The undeniable proof of that love is described in our word for today from the Word of God in Romans 5:8. "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." In other words, God loved us enough to sacrifice His only Son for us even though we were doing the things God hates. Maybe you've tried to earn God's love by being a good person, a religious person, a Christian person. But God says clearly that the way to begin a relationship with Him is "not by works" (Ephesians 2:9). It's by His "grace," the Bible says, which means undeserved love. All your goodness cannot erase a lifetime of sinning. Sin puts us on eternity's Death Row. But even with all our "sin-garbage" - totally unlovable spiritually - God sent His Son to die for us; to die for you. If He didn't turn His back on you when His Son was hanging on that cross for you, He will never turn His back on you. Once you put your total trust in Jesus to be your Rescuer from your sin, you have His unloseable love. And on your very worst days, you can ask God, "Do You love me like this?" and He will always answer, "Yes." This is the love your heart has been aching for all these years. He's within your reach right now. Just tell Jesus you're giving your life to Him, beginning today. I'd love to help you know how for sure you belong to Him if you would just go to our website. Yes he has been featured in the Outsider Art Magazine, and Artist Portfolio Magazine as well as at the Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery, and even though there are some who would want him to be the stereotypicaly "hillbilly," respecting where he is from and those around him remains a primary driving force in much of what he does, including the art that he makes. Yes, he could have been half of the art craze coming out of the hills a while back known as rooster art, but know now that he’s not creating quaint, crafty pieces carved from sticks and stones gathered from his counryside. Those pieces are beautiful and they are made by beautiful people, but Cory’s work is different, unexpected, is largely digital, funny, politically charged, sometimes in your face and very much "Avant Appalachian." You will soon learn that Cory has utter respect for his community, it's history and its capacity to take care of itself, but you will also see just how insightful and witty he is as he shares on topics like bartering, the need to reject Tyler Childers, poverty porn and Hillbilly Ellegy. There is also some discussion of knee caps on stick people and you will hear how Cory met Tanya Harding and actually the answer to the question that almost everybody woul ask of her. Host Kathy Kenzora began her career as a journalist in Toronto. She worked as a reporter with Q107 and Global News 640 Toronto for five years in the 90s before leaving radio to pursue a career in communications and media relations, and now has a podcast called History of the 90's On the first episode, Kathy discusses the tabloid media's feeding frenzy re: the Long Island Lolita. This type of down and dirty pseudo-journalism was extremely common in the 90 - just think Lorena Bobbitt, Tanya Harding, Heidi Fleiss, Hugh Grant, George Michael and Peewee Herman. The Amy Fisher story was no exception. Kathy speaks to David Kamp, a contributing editor for Vanity Fair Magazine, who wrote about the phenomenon in 1999 and dubbed the 90s: ‘The Tabloid Decade.' On the second episode, Kathy looks at how the Lion King animated film from 1994 and how the movie was the ultimate underdog...or undercat? The episode discusses how the studio never really believed in the movie's success but it still managed to overcome incredible adversity to evolve into the worldwide cultural phenomenon it is today. On this episode Host Kathy Kenzora is looking back at how tabloid media had a feeding frenzy on the Long Island Lolita.  In May 1992, a high school senior on Long Island, New York, went to the home of her much older ex-lover and shot his wife in the face.  17 year old Amy Fisher had been having an affair with 37 year old Joey Buttafuco for 18 months and was angry that he wanted to end the relationship.  Within days, Amy was dubbed “The Long Island Lolita” and the story exploded in the media around the country.  Amy and the Buttafuco’s became household names overnight and tabloid newspapers and TV shows scrambled to dig up dirt on anyone involved with the story.  This type of down and dirty pseudo-journalism was extremely common in the 90s, just think Lorena Bobbitt, Tanya Harding, Heidi Fleiss, Hugh Grant, George Michael and Peewee Herman.  David Kamp, a contributing editor for Vanity Fair Magazine, wrote about the phenomenon in 1999 and dubbed the 90s the Tabloid Decade.
