In the last episode of On Hand we theorized that ranch first collided with pizza in Michigan, and maybe even at a high school in Ann Arbor in 1992. Why not? Well one listener, Junebug Harris, says we got it all wrong. He and his wife, Rio, were both dipping pizza - and everything else - in ranch in their high school cafeterias (Northville and Royal Oak, respectively) in the 1980s. Here's further evidence that Michigan teenagers started the pizza/ranch trend - in the mid 1980s - probably because high school cafeteria food wasn't great, but the ranch was on point. The Enterprise D heads back to earth when a routine seismic retrofit of San Francisco uncovers something shocking. It's Data's flippin' head, all severed and covered with dirt! Imagine Data's surprise since his head is still attached to his body! He and the crew are going to have to get their heads in the game to figure out how it ended up buried there back in the 19th century. Everyone is out of their heads with worry, but they work the case. Picard orders them to Devidia II when Troi hears voices in her head telling her humans are being abducted. When Data is excluded from the Away Team investigating, Picard explains they're keeping him on board in an attempt to head off fate, but wouldn't you know it, circumstances lead Data down to the planet. Our stalwart android keeps a cool head, but the rest of the crew lose theirs when he disappears! Before you know it, we see Data in 19th century San Francisco, meeting up with Guinan and going head to head with one Samuel Clemons (aka Mark Twain). Back in the 24th century, Guinan tells Picard he needs to head up the Away Team going after Data, and he does, leading them all straight into a glowing alien portal. CHARLESTON GOTHIC Episode 4: Tekeli   The Charleston Library Society has survived fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, and war—emerging each time with its treasures intact. Among those treasures: the world's most complete archive of Charleston newspapers from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.   In this episode, we enter the stacks where a ghost named Hinson is said to wander, where Henry Timrod's blood-stained manuscript bears witness to a poet's final days, and where a century-old scholarly article waited decades for someone to understand what it revealed. What was Edgar Allan Poe really searching for when he visited Charleston's archives during his time at Fort Moultrie? For over a hundred years, the legend said he came looking for pirate treasure—the buried gold that would inspire "The Gold-Bug." But a 1922 discovery by a Texas scholar suggested something far more personal. He's wondering if the same concern would hold with wood wings, like those on the Bellanca Viking. The hosts say not to worry. The wood spars are lathered with a varnish that helps keep out moisture, Sitka spruce is resistant to splitting, and Mike said in his experience with Vikings in the 1970s, shops didn't report issues with airplanes that had lived in different parts of the country. Jim has an Arrow and he wants to guard against the long down times we're seeing at overhaul shops. To do so he wonders if she would pick the right time and pre-emptively overhaul his engine, or at least change out the cylinders. Mike, Paul, and Colleen fully lecture poor Jim on the perils of so-called top overhauls, and instead advise him to do nothing more than stock a cylinder in case the time comes and he needs it. Darren is thinking of putting an all-new panel into his Tri-Pacer, and he's wondering if he should upgrade his generator to an alternator when he does it. Paul said he's not worried about the generator when it comes to his avionics, but given that Darren flies at night, Paul thinks an alternator is probably a good idea. Steve is wondering about spark plug anti-seize compounds. He uses the Tempest and Champion products, but found Lycoming's service instructions that prohibits their use. It calls for a copper-based compound, or motor oil. The hosts think the guidance might be a result of getting the carbon-based anti-seize on the insulator, which would cause arcing. They all agree that motor oil would be a bad choice. Paul thinks the Champion compound is fine, so long as you use only a little, and keep it off the last thread. Mike now uses an anti-seize stick that you apply to the threads, almost like a lip balm.

Episode 2.14 of Arrow is a little contradicting for an Olicity shipper. On the one hand, Oliver just hooked up with Sara and is being all schmoopy in the Arrow cave which sucks. Felicity feels left out, which sucks. Sara and Oliver are ridiculously thoughtless about Laurel's feelings, which sucks (sorta?). On the other hand, we get a lot of Felicity and her feelings and motivations this episode which rules. We also get Oliver telling Laurel off once and for all which is fantastic.
