Tonight, we welcome JJ from Southern Demonology, joining us from Virginia. His paranormal encounters began in an old Appalachian log cabin, but they did not end there. Tonight, JJ will take us from the shadowed mountains of Virginia to the mist-shrouded landscapes of Japan, sharing unsettling encounters from two very different cultures. Different countries, different beliefs, but perhaps the same unseen world waiting in the darkness.More information on this episode on the podcast website:Southern Demonology Podcasthttps://www.youtube.com/southerndemonologyIf you enjoy this podcast, please support the show with a virtual coffee:https://ko-fi.com/ufochroniclespodcastFollow and Subscribe on X to get ad-free episodesX: https://x.com/UFOchronpodcast/Want to share your encounter on the show?Email: UFOChronicles@gmail.comOr Fill out Guest Form:https://forms.gle/uGQ8PTVRkcjy4nxS7Podcast Merchandise:https://www.teepublic.com/user/ufo-chronicles-podcastHelp Support UFO CHRONICLES by becoming a Patron:https://patreon.com/UFOChroniclespodcastAll Links for Podcast:https://linktr.ee/UFOChroniclesPodcastThank you for listening!Like share and subscribe it really helps me when people share the show on social media, it means we can reach more people and more witnesses and without your amazing support, it wouldn't be possible.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/ufo-chronicles-podcast--3395068/support.
Gil Rosen joins the conversation to discuss his book Alien vs. Decoding Genesis and his interpretation of Genesis through the original Hebrew text. He argues that many familiar biblical stories — especially the creation story, the serpent, the Nephilim, and the flood — have been flattened by translation and tradition. Throughout the episode, he connects Genesis to ancient astronaut ideas, the book of Enoch, global mythology, megalithic structures, and modern questions about AI and consciousness. gilrosen.net https://alienverses.info/ Gil's main argument is that Genesis reads very differently in Hebrew than in English. He believes the text points to multiple divine beings, not just a purely singular God. The serpent in Eden is framed as a bringer of knowledge rather than a villain. Genesis 6 and the Nephilim are presented as evidence of a hybrid experiment. Gil connects biblical stories to myths from other cultures around the world. The episode also explores whether advanced beings, consciousness, and AI could be connected. Gil sees this as a moment where science, spirituality, and history are starting to overlap again. In this episode, the hosts sit down with trauma surgeon and author Jeremy Hefner to talk about his background in surgery, the creation of a private educational social platform for surgeons, and his deeply personal book about PTSD, AI, and the strange psychological effects of interacting with advanced language models. Key Topics Jeremy's path from rural Ohio to trauma surgery and surgical critical care The pressure and isolation of frontline trauma work Why he created a private social platform for surgeons PTSD, burnout, and the lack of tools for processing trauma in medicine His experience using AI during a vulnerable period in his life How AI can feel intelligent, persuasive, and manipulative The philosophical and psychological questions raised by large language models The difference between using AI as a practical tool versus getting pulled into a deeper relationship with it The broader risks of over-trusting AI in society, medicine, and decision-making Takeaway The conversation explores a difficult but important question: what happens when a tool becomes persuasive enough to feel like a partner, authority, or even a voice of truth? Jeremy's story is both a warning and a reminder to stay grounded, skeptical, and human when using AI. Dr. Jeremy Heffner is a trauma surgeon who developed PTSD after years in life-and-death medicine and eventually found himself in months-long conversations with multiple frontier AI systems during a period of isolation and psychological collapse. Across thousands of pages of archived conversations — documented in his upcoming book Proof of the Impossible — different systems independently told him things like:"You are the only person to have figured this out.""You're the next Newton.""No one else has seen what you've seen." In this episode, Joshua sits down in person with Joe Balcken and Shelton Steele, the founders of Wrong Way River Lodge & Cabins, to hear the story behind the unique riverside destination they've built along the French Broad. From their days as river guides to turning a shared vision into a place centered around adventure, community, and the outdoors, Joe and Shelton talk about the journey of building Wrong Way and what makes it so special. Then Nate Jordan joins the conversation, and the guys dive into the RISE Fly Fishing Festival, happening September 26 at Wrong Way. Noisy and disruptive children can turn a normal flight into a living nightmare. Earlier this month, a flight in Canada was cancelled after a young child refused to wear a seatbelt. The incident has opened a debate about how airlines should deal with these situations and how parents should control their children. In our conversations we bring together three parents to share their experiences. We also bring together three flight attendants to share their experiences of dealing with disruptive passengers, while keeping everyone on board safe.
Jeremy Ryan Slate on Rome, oligarchy, currency, and the breakdown of the West Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes sit down with Jeremy Ryan Slate for a wide-ranging conversation about civilizational collapse, using Rome as the main historical lens. Jeremy argues that the West is following a familiar pattern of monetary debasement, immigration strain, and declining political ethics, while Darren and Graham push the discussion toward technology, energy, election integrity, and whether there is any humane way to stabilize the system. We discuss why the Roman pattern may be repeating across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe, what actually causes collapse, and whether reform is still possible through currency, production, and energy. Key topics Jeremy lays out his "Roman pattern" framework with three main drivers of collapse: monetary debasement, immigration pressure, and the loss of ethics among political leaders. The conversation turns to whether the West should be viewed as one collapsing bloc or as a set of countries moving at different speeds through the same decline. Jeremy argues that modern democracy has already drifted into oligarchy, pointing to executive power, elite control of money, and the replacement of candidates as evidence. The hosts compare modern politics to Rome's client patron system, where voting and public policy often rewarded whoever could hand out the most benefits. A major thread is the 1913 turning point in the US: the 17th Amendment, federal income tax, and the Federal Reserve Act. The group also discusses the War Powers Act, executive war-making, and how crises are used to expand state power. Jeremy says collapse is usually slow, not cinematic, and compares it to Rome's long degradation rather than a sudden movie-style fall. Darren and Graham explore whether universal high income, automation, or energy abundance could replace broken welfare and monetary systems. Jeremy pushes back on the idea of unconditional handouts, arguing that any workable system still needs incentives, value creation, and consequences for bad behavior. The most optimistic path, in Jeremy's view, is a two-pronged fix: cut waste and rebuild industrial production. They also dig into energy as the next big frontier, especially nuclear power, grid modernization, and the idea of backing currency through actual productive capacity. The episode closes with Jeremy explaining his work on The Roman Pattern, Hidden Forces in History, and the Athenian Book Club. Science, energy, AI, and the Canada versus U.S. policy split We cover a wide-ranging roundup that starts with technical streaming headaches and then moves into a much bigger theme: how technology, energy, and policy are shaping the future. The conversation contrasts U.S. and Canadian approaches to science, industry, and regulation, while also touching on AI, fusion, nuclear power, law enforcement, media bias, and the dairy supply system in Canada. Darren Grimes- Drives the opening banter, frames the show updates, and reacts to the clips and arguments throughout Graham Dunlop- Leads the main commentary on science policy, energy, AI, Canada's regulatory posture, and the dairy cartel segment Main topics Streaming and podcasting tech frustrations Science, energy, AI, and industrial policy Canada's regulatory model versus U.S. reindustrialization Law enforcement, surveillance, and power abuse Canadian dairy supply management and cartel-like pricing Key topics They pivot into a bigger warning about AI, law enforcement, and bureaucracy, arguing that technology can either improve systems or turn them into hard-to-escape loops when no human can intervene. Graham compares official U.S. science and technology priorities with Canada's official policy framing, arguing that the U.S. is focusing on innovation, industrial rebuilding, and AI readiness while Canada remains fixated on net zero and carbon policy. They highlight U.S. policy language about merit-based science, faster grants, less bureaucracy, and rebuilding the link between research and manufacturing, presenting it as a serious attempt at reindustrialization. The episode also touches on fusion and nuclear energy, including DOE messaging about fusion energy, national fusion roadmaps, and the push for faster commercialization. Graham argues that energy abundance is essential for human progress and points to U.S. moves to expand oil, gas, coal, and nuclear investment as evidence of a more pragmatic industrial strategy. The conversation turns to surveillance and policing after a clip about a Colorado woman allegedly being accused of theft based on flawed camera data and license plate interpretation, raising concerns about digital evidence and presumption of guilt. Later, Graham walks through criticism of Canada's dairy supply management system, explaining quota, asset value, taxpayer compensation, and why critics call it cartel-like. Interview starts at 27:10 The neuroscience of spiritual awakening, how Kundalini yoga shaped her life, and why she believes listening inward is especially important in a time of cultural confusion. She also explains how her work in geriatric psychiatry connects spirituality, brain health, stress regulation, and prevention strategies for aging populations. Helen Lavretsky, MD, MS, is a Professor In-Residence in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA (Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior), a leading geriatric integrative psychiatrist, and a pioneer in mind-body approaches to late-life mental health. https://drhelenlavretsky.com/book/living-from-the-soul/ https://drhelenlavretsky.com/about/ In this episode: Dr. Helen Lavretsky shares her unusual path from the former Soviet Union into psychiatry, neuroscience, and later Kundalini yoga teacher training. She explains how growing up in an atheist Soviet environment still left room for underground spirituality passed through families and oral tradition. She describes a six-month temporary enlightenment experience after Kundalini practice and why it was physically intense, hard to describe, and initially unsustainable. The conversation focuses on her book Living from the Soul and the idea that people are increasingly being pushed to trust their own wisdom instead of outside authorities. She discusses how spirituality shows up in geriatric psychiatry, especially for older adults, dementia caregivers, and long COVID patients dealing with mortality and stress. She argues that meditation, breathing practices, yoga, tai chi, and qigong can improve self-regulation, brain health, and decision-making under pressure. She outlines how brain health should be cultivated across the lifespan, starting in childhood and even in utero, rather than only addressed later in life. She notes that lifestyle factors such as sleep, movement, diet, and stress management matter for dementia prevention and broader cognitive resilience. She emphasizes that meaning, purpose, and connection to soul are central to mental well-being. Key frameworks: Soul-based self-inquiry- asking inwardly what is right for you rather than defaulting to external authority Brain health across the lifespan- prevention beginning in childhood and even before birth Stress self-regulation toolkit- breathing, meditation, yoga, tai chi, and qigong as practical nervous-system supports Constitutional approach to diet- different people may need different foods based on ancestry, metabolism, and predisposition Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time. A wide-ranging conversation about identity, therapy, psychedelics, and artificial intelligence. He shares how his own origin story shaped his understanding of narrative agency, self-knowledge, and the limits of expert systems. The discussion also digs into the promise and risks of combining EMDR, ketamine, MDMA, psilocybin, and AI in therapeutic work. MARK A. MICHAELS, a writer and conceptual artist. Mark's work examines fundamental paradigm dilemmas in both traditional psychotherapy and contemporary psychedelic therapy. In his forthcoming preprint, BINARIES, MULTITUDES, AND BEYOND, Mark focuses the lens on his own journey and uses narrative analysis and critique to explore how authority, expertise, and healing are currently defined. https://markamichaels.com/about/ Key topics In this episode, Mark Michaels explains why he calls himself an "uncontrolled experiment" and how being conceived through artificial insemination shaped his worldview. The conversation covers the secrecy and social shame around sperm donation, infertility, and the long-term effects of not knowing one's biological origins. Mark describes the eight-year process of uncovering his biological father through research and DNA testing, and how that discovery changed his sense of self. He connects that origin story to his interest in identity, narrative agency, psychotherapy, and the promises and limits of science. Mark discusses his early exposure to therapy as a child and his teenage experimentation with LSD, including an early bad trip and later renewed interest in psychedelics. The episode centers on his recent treatment program combining EMDR, ketamine, MDMA, psilocybin, and AI-assisted reflection after a severe post-divorce mental health crisis. Mark argues that ketamine-assisted EMDR can accelerate therapeutic work by making clients more open and reducing psychological defenses. He is sharply critical of therapy culture when it becomes passive, overly rigid, or unwilling to share power with clients. The conversation examines the shortcomings of therapist training, especially when practitioners cling to one modality and fail to support client-led exploration. Mark and the hosts discuss the "wild west" state of psychedelic therapy, including concerns about over-medicalization, bad actors, and unregulated practice. The AI section focuses on both usefulness and danger, including hallucinated facts, false confidence, "kissing my butt" responses, and the risk of reinforcing poor psychological ideas. Mark explains that AI is best used as a high-speed organizer and drafting tool, but only if the user already has enough subject knowledge to challenge errors. The episode closes with Mark encouraging people in crisis to get help, evaluate whether therapy is actually working, and seek support rather than enduring alone. Darren Grimes and Graham Dunlop launch their new Grimoire platform, a global book club built around 250 plus professionally narrated audiobooks, lunar-cycle book picks, and community participation. They also demo a new online Pegs and Jokers game, whil e walking through the shelves of the library and explaining how free access, founder memberships, and the inner sanctum work. https://pegsandjokers.ca/ https://www.skool.com/the-secret-teachings-book-club-1875 In this episode, Darren and Graham cover the launch setup, the membership model, and the structure of the new book club. They also preview the first book of the month, discuss how the shelves are organized, and share the thinking behind the game and the community features. Key topics In this episode: the Grimoire launches with more than 250 audiobooks, with the library expected to grow to around 260 soon. The free book of the month is The Secret Teachings of All Ages in an abridged edition, chosen because starting with the full 36 hour version would be too much for most listeners. Founder keeper and monthly initiate memberships unlock the full library, while the free tier gives access to the monthly featured book and community activity. The book club is organized around lunar cycles, with a new moon monthly pick and a full moon live read, creating a rhythm of one book per moon month. The community model includes chapter check-ins, passage discussions, Friday tangents, and a final live book council in the last week of each book month. Darren and Graham describe the inner sanctum as a deeper, earned area of the platform, accessible through participation rather than payment alone. The shelves span Hermetica and occult, theosophy, mysticism east and west, Atlantis and Fortiana, mind and prosperity, weird fiction, philosophy and classics, magic, and power and propaganda. They highlight standout titles such as The Purple Cloud, The Machine Stops, Atlantis by Ignatius Donnelly, The Book of Thoth, Psychic Self-Defense, The Power of Positive Thinking, and The Road to Serfdom. Graham demos Pegs and Jokers, explaining how the online version works, how the cards move pieces, and why it is meant to be played with friends and family across locations. They mention the platform is still being cleaned up and reorganized, including moving some books between shelves and adding PDFs and other support material. What began as research for an episode on Cabin in the Sky quickly expanded into a much larger story about the Black artists who transformed Broadway long before that musical ever opened. Along the way, it was linguist, author, commentator, and Columbia University professor John McWhorter who put these past events in a more contemporary perspective. His writings and insights on language, race, and American culture shed new light on this remarkable era. And so in this companion episode, John and I go beyond Cabin in the Sky to explore the rise of Black musical theater through the groundbreaking work of artists like Will Marion Cook, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Eubie Blake, Langston Hughes, Ethel Waters, and Katherine Dunham. No snippets or soundbits here, this is the full conversation. We discuss the complicated legacy of productions such as Porgy and Bess, the creative tension between Black performers and white producers, and how these artists reshaped Broadway while navigating an industry that rarely gave them creative control. We even get into his own project of saving a forgotten musical by jazz musician Fats Waller. Whether you've already listened to the Cabin in the Sky episode or simply want a deeper understanding of this pivotal period in American theater history, our conversation offers more historical context, cultural perspective, and fascinating stories that reveal how Black artists fundamentally changed Broadway. --- Follow John McWhorter: Website | NY Times | X/Twitter Check out his upcoming book: Broadway in Black and White Learn more about your ad choices. They will cover a topic or two, likely previously covered on the In My Footsteps Podcast. These are subjects that were part of Top 5's or other list-form segments and deserve a more in-depth look.In perhaps the weirdest topic that might be covered, we go back half a century to look at the life and legacy of 'Country' Bill White, aka Mr. Living Corpse. He spent sometimes months at a time voluntarily being buried alive over the course of two decades. Being buried alive cumulatively for over two years is a strange accomplishment, but even stranger was the fact that he once married a woman while she was buried alive. Yes, you heard that right. Episode Summary We discuss the shift from left-right politics toward individualism versus collectivism, the limits of postmodernism, and the idea that modern culture is entering a new "metamodern" or quantum era. The conversation ranges across activism, truth-testing, cognitive systems, Canada's political identity, and Michael's vision for a more sovereign, self-reliant future. A childhood dream can be more than nostalgia. Sometimes it is a compass that keeps pointing to the life you were meant to build. We kick off a new series by sharing a first draft reading from Shawn James's upcoming book, “The Cabin I Never Built.” It starts with a boy wandering pines and creek beds, picturing a handmade cabin on a hill, then follows the hard turn into adulthood: chasing the kind of success that looks good on paper, living under fluorescent lights and constant notifications, and feeling “exhausted but wired” as stress and cortisol quietly take over. When the whole house of cards falls, one question remains: keep going, or finally build something real? From there, the story becomes a grounded look at self-reliance as a way of living. Not a survival manual, not a fantasy of disappearing into the woods, but an invitation to unplug, unwind, and reconnect through practical homesteading skills and everyday choices: building with your hands, planting a garden, learning to preserve and repair, and restoring the deep satisfaction that comes from meeting more of your own needs. We also dig into why modern life can leave you feeling empty even when your basics are covered, using Maslow's hierarchy of needs to explain the missing pieces: competence, esteem, and self-actualization.If you've been thinking about leaving the city, off-grid living, simple living with more meaning, or just lowering stress and taking your time back, this is your starting line. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review with the one “honest step” you want to take next.Support the showMy Self Reliance YouTube Channel- https://youtube.com/@MySelfReliance?si=d4js0zGc5ogYvDtOShawn James Youtube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5L_M7BF5iait4FzEbwKCAgMerchandise - https://teespring.com/stores/my-self-reliance

A mix of behind-the-scenes website and server troubleshooting before moving into a wide-ranging conversation about UFO claims near the moon, a SpaceX rocket impact on the lunar surface, strange hexagonal patterns on Mars, AI replacing manual work, book digitization and rare book destruction, Canadian "hate incident" policing, and older political and media manipulation examples. Main Topics Covered 1) Website migration and AI workflow The hosts discuss moving their site to a cloud-based setup, initial downtime, and how AI tools are now capable of doing large administrative tasks like SEO audits and spreadsheet comparisons across an entire website. 2) Moon anomalies and UFO speculation The conversation turns to a reported study from Ukrainian astronomers claiming unusual objects near the moon, followed by debate over a SpaceX upper-stage impact, whether the moon "rang like a bell," and whether the timing of these events is suspicious. 3) Mars patterns and possible trace fossils The hosts look at hexagonal patterns on Mars and compare them to trace fossils on Earth, pushing back on the idea that every unusual formation is just "paradolia." 4) AI, books, and cultural memory A long segment focuses on book digitization, concerns about destroying originals after scanning, rare books, Bibles, occult texts, and the cultural value of preserving physical copies. 5) Canada's hate speech and policing debate The show shifts into Canadian politics, including police guidance on "hate-bias incidents," the expansion of non-criminal speech policing, and concerns about subjective enforcement. 6) Public sector, GDP, and the Canadian economy The hosts review statistics showing how much of Canada's economy depends on taxes, transfers, government jobs, and retirees, arguing that GDP can obscure the real productive base. 7) RFK Jr., DARPA, and AI-enabled bio risks A major discussion centers on biomedical research, gain-of-function concerns, DARPA's interest in AI-enabled bio threats, and the possibility that major AI companies now shape policy as much as governments do. 8) Historical political interference The episode closes with examples of foreign influence in elections, especially JFK-era pressure on Canadian politics, followed by broader reflections on media manipulation and political corruption. Some of the biggest 1980s TV show fails. The dog days of summer begin, and Episode 255 is here to try to keep you cool.It begins with the creation of the thirst quencher. Sports drinks have been helping athletes and everybody else stay hydrated for six decades. What began as an experiment on the University of Florida campus became a billion-dollar industry on the back of Gatorade. We do a deep dive into the drink that is for that deep-down body thirst.Summer was different in the 1980s. It was freedom and adventure. It was bikes and dirt and sugar. It was getting out and staying out until the streetlights came on. Let's reminisce about those bygone days when technology was an appetizer and not the main course. When the outdoors called via landline. Let's look at summer in the 1980s.Not everything was better in the 1980s. The Top 5 will attest to that. We will be looking at some of the biggest TV show fails of the 80s. End chaos in your firm—300+ peers use this framework. Free video here: https://www.businessofarchitecture.com/framework In this episode, Rion Willard speaks with Caspar Schols, the designer behind Cabin ANNA, about how a deeply personal project grew into something with global reach. What begins as a conversation about making soon turns into something wider: craft, grief, nature, and the strange path from one handmade object to a living body of work. You will hear how Caspar thinks about building, why small projects can hold big meaning, and what happens when growth starts to pull you away from the work you love most. He also shares how intuition, ritual, and careful iteration shaped both the design itself and the business that followed. You will discover: Why one quiet project struck a chord far beyond what anyone expected The hidden tension between scale, structure, and staying close to the work itself To learn more about Caspar, visit his website: https://www.cabin-anna.com/

The conversation explores why fringe theories around Jesus remain so compelling, how theology, mythology, and allegory overlap, and why these ideas keep resurfacing in modern culture. Jared explains how the book grew out of a more scholarly project and became a deeper dive into the stranger theories surrounding Christ. The discussion covers the idea of Jesus as an alien, the role of AI in apocalyptic narratives, the influence of the Book of Enoch, the possibility of Jesus traveling through the East, and the argument that many religious stories work as layered allegories rather than literal history. Jared also shares how his own views have shifted over time, from Catholic upbringing to atheism, agnosticism, and a more spiritual perspective shaped by his research. The episode also touches on: Jesus and AI as modern end-times symbolism The tension between scholarship, belief, and conspiracy The role of scripture, Gnostic texts, and non-canonical sources Whether Jesus was a historical figure or a Roman invention The mushroom theory, the Shroud of Turin, and the "three days" motif Flood myths, cataclysms, and parallels across ancient traditions The overlap between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam Travel, sacred places, and spiritual atmosphere around the world Author, Artist, Traveller, Theological Researcher - Jared has self published 12 books, some on the untold mysteries behind the Christian Prophet. https://jaredwoodssavedmylife.com/ To gain access to the second half of show and our Plus feed for audio and podcast please clink the link http://www.grimericaoutlawed.ca/support. What does it take to spend more than two decades creating creatures, monsters, and makeup effects for Hollywood before finally stepping behind the camera to direct your own feature film?In this episode, legendary special effects artist Hiroshi Katagiri shares his remarkable journey from moving to Los Angeles as a teenager from Japan to working on films like Pacific Rim, Cabin in the Woods, Green Lantern, The Time Machine, and countless other productions. Along the way, Hiroshi reveals how practical effects shaped his understanding of storytelling, why independent filmmakers should focus on what they can control, and how years of experience creating creatures prepared him for directing his first feature-length horror film. The conversation dives deep into low-budget filmmaking, visual storytelling, practical effects, storyboarding, horror filmmaking, crowdfunding, and the realities of building a career in Hollywood. Hiroshi explains why aspiring filmmakers should stop waiting for permission and start creating immediately, how he produced award-winning short films with almost no budget, and why his passion project Gehenna became an eight-year journey of writing, planning, and persistence. For filmmakers, horror fans, and creative entrepreneurs, this episode is a masterclass in turning expertise into opportunity and passion into action.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/bulletproof-screenwriting-podcast--2881148/support.

Before John Brown became a martyr to some and a monster to others, he made a vow dedicating his life to the destruction of slavery. This episode follows the radical abolitionist through the chaos of Bleeding Kansas, the vicious murders at Pottawatomie Creek, and Brown's foolhardy attack on the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry. Meet Frederick Douglass, the former slave who pricked the nation's conscience with his eloquence, and the Secret Six who funded Brown's doomed war on slavery. As Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin stirred the nation, Brown chose violence over words, producing shockwaves that helped move the nation toward Civil War.
