Interview starts at 32:00 Dean Kinzer of Kinzer Coins joins Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes for a wide ranging conversation about ancient coins, the family roots that pulled him into collecting, and why coins are really compact historical records. Dean explains how ancient coinage evolved from electrum globs and early stamped pieces into state backed currency, and why collectors can use coins to trace politics, propaganda, economics, and the rise and fall of civilizations. We discuss why ancient coins are still accessible to new collectors, how grading and slabbed coins reduce the risk of counterfeits, and why Dean built tools to help people understand value without getting burned. Along the way, the conversation covers Roman debasement, the Ides of March coin, Viking treasure, mythological imagery, and why the hobby is as much about education as it is about collecting. Dean Kinzer is an ancient coin expert and founder of Kinzer Coins, known for helping collectors and history enthusiasts hold the past in their hands. Dean's journey into ancient coins began after his father's passing, when he received his father's extensive collection. He realized there was a gap in the market for trusted ancient coin expertise. As a decorated Iraq War veteran with an MBA, Dean brings discipline, structure, and integrity to the 2,700 year old field of ancient coins, collecting, and education. https://kinzercoins.com/ Special Audience Giveaway: TITLE - The 5 Best Ancient Coins for New Collectors URL - https://startancients.com Key topics Dean shares his origin story growing up in a collector household, surrounded by baseball cards, American coins, and a father whose collection grew into a massive organized archive We discuss how caring for his father's collection after his illness led Dean to ancient coins, especially Biblical pieces like shekels of Tyre, tribute pennies, and widows mites The conversation explains the earliest coinage in western Turkey, including electrum, hand struck pieces, and the early fight against counterfeiting with striated designs and incuse punches Dean breaks down Croesus and the shift from stamped metal to formal state backed coinage across the Mediterranean We discuss how coin artistry evolved from utility to high relief portraits, signed dies, and city states using coins as civic identity Darren asks about money with no inherent value, and Dean uses Rome's debasement of silver to show how inflation and collapse appear directly in coinage The Roman denarius is traced from high purity silver to zero silver over roughly 60 years, with Caracalla, Aurelian, and the late empire used as key examples The show explores how coins functioned as propaganda, carrying messages across an empire when direct communication was difficult Dean highlights unusual and collectible themes on ancient coins, including wrestlers, athletes, astronomy, animals, music, boxing, gladiators, and mythological founders The discussion turns to the Ides of March coin, Julius Caesar's portrait on coinage, and why the Brutus Eid Mar coin is one of the most famous and valuable ancient coins Dean explains the modern collecting market, including slabbed coins, NGC grading, counterfeit prevention, and his own value guide and app for Roman imperial coins The episode closes with Dean talking about the diversity of the collecting community, the educational mission behind Kinzer Coins, and the idea of a surprise coin subscription concept sparked during the interview Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time. Graham and Darren press him on what he is seeing on the ground, and the conversation widens into treatment policy, organized crime, NGOs, and what recovery should actually look like. Drew brings a highly personal perspective too. He talks about his own history with addiction, injury, recovery, group homes, and the way those experiences shaped the camera work and interviews he now does in the downtown east side and across British Columbia. Independent Journalist. Content Creator. Independent Reporting To create more awareness about the homeless issues, mental health and addiction issues, and the misinformation about the people that live in their addiction. Support: http://drewcouver.com/donate.php https://www.drewcouver.com/ https://x.com/DrewCouver56 Key topics Drew shares his background growing up in BC, moving to Vancouver at 18, getting into nightlife and drugs, surviving severe addiction, and eventually getting sober. He explains how back injuries, opioid prescriptions, and a bad COVID-era spiral pushed him into a new round of dependence before he chose to get clean again. The discussion centers on Vancouver's downtown east side, where Drew says harm reduction has become disconnected from recovery and public safety. Drew argues that treatment in BC and Alberta often keeps people on methadone, Suboxone, hydromorphone, or fentanyl rather than pushing abstinence. He contrasts Alberta's approach with BC's and says Alberta is at least less rigid about forcing people off harm-reduction medication in treatment. The conversation turns to open-air drug markets, apps used by dealers, and cross-contamination in the cocaine and fentanyl supply. Drew describes the hollowing out of downtown cores across BC cities such as Prince George, Vernon, Kelowna, Smithers, and others. He claims NGOs and nonprofit networks have become a major money channel, especially around housing, homelessness, and Aboriginal-focused organizations. The episode digs into how funding, grant writing, and identity-based programs can create systems that protect institutions more than they help addicts. Drew makes a broad case for returning to tougher recovery standards, more consequences for crime, and a stronger role for 12-step programs and personal accountability. "현우, 걱정 마요. 여기 있는 동안 즐겨보세요. 자연을 느껴요."En: On the other hand, Jisoo was calmly enjoying the beauty of the cabin. "Don't worry, Hyunwoo. Enjoy yourself while we're here. The squirrel immediately approached cutely and began to move its stash of nuts that had been piled next to the door.Ko: 현우는 웃으며 지수에게 말했습니다. The solution we missed was given to us by the squirrel!"Ko: 꽉 잠겼던 문이 풀리고, 두 사람은 드디어 오두막 밖으로 나올 수 있었습니다. 현우는 다람쥐 덕분에 한숨을 돌렸습니다. "앞으로는 조금 더 쉽게 생각해야겠어요. 중요한 건 지금 이 순간을 즐기는 거네요."En: The tightly locked door opened, and they were finally able to step outside the cabin. Hyunwoo sighed in relief thanks to the squirrel. #781 - Luke Storey on loneliness, recovery, integrity, and writing A Horse Named Lonesome

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 23, 2026 77:31

Luke Storey on loneliness, recovery, integrity, and writing A Horse Named Lonesome Luke Storey joins Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes for a wide-ranging conversation about his new book, A Horse Named Lonesome, and the deeper themes behind it: relational loneliness, addiction recovery, spirituality, and what it means to live with integrity. The discussion also turns into a practical and philosophical look at how modern life, social media, and public identity can either deepen or dilute real human connection. This episode matters because it connects personal healing to a broader cultural problem. Luke, Graham, and Darren each bring their own experience with sobriety, transformation, and public-facing work, making this more than a book chat—it becomes a candid conversation about connection, attention, and staying aligned in a noisy world. Key topics Luke explains that A Horse Named Lonesomeis about relational loneliness and existential separation, and that the book is built as a memoir-based transformational guide. He shares how the book came from a spiritual realization that his original motives were too self-serving, and how a deeper desire to help people made the writing process click. The conversation digs into why books still matter in an age of transient digital media—as a permanent record, a slower form of wisdom, and a medium people return to repeatedly. Luke describes how his own story runs through the book, including birth trauma, isolation, addiction, and the practices and teachings he derived from those experiences. Graham relates his own struggle to turn a recovery story into a book, moving from a vague "program" idea toward a memoir structure, and feeling stuck in the editing and motivation stages. Darren contrasts his own nonfiction-style books with memoir writing, noting that a focused information book is easier than writing about your own life. Luke opens up about addiction beyond alcohol, including nicotine, coca leaf, and ambil, and how dependency can show up in many forms, from substances to habits and spending. A major theme is the challenge of public life: Luke talks about the loneliness of being seen, the weirdness of being recognized, and how fame can make it hard to know who is sincere. The group explores how the modern world creates a fake version of connection through phones and social media, while genuine intimacy requires physical presence, discernment, and effort. The conversation moves into integrity, "selling out," and why Luke refuses deals or promotions that would damage his self-respect, even if they offered short-term gain. Luke and the hosts connect loneliness to the current cultural moment, including polarization, post-COVID social distrust, and the feeling that many people are less willing to face uncomfortable truths. The episode closes on a spiritual note: Luke frames loneliness and separation as a case of mistaken identity, arguing that we are not just bodies or personas but expressions of something larger. Energy prices, Canadian politics, propaganda tactics, and a stack of culture-war clips. It matters because the discussion keeps circling back to how narratives are built, repeated, and used to shape public belief around diesel, climate, medicine, and government power. We discuss Canadian and U.S. energy dependence, media framing, and a series of examples Darren and Graham use to argue that institutions are manufacturing consent through repetition, selective coverage, and bureaucratic theater. Key topics In this episode: Graham talks about working the fields and how combine harvesting demands constant attention because equipment clogs and you cannot just cruise through it. Darren and Graham compare weather, harvest timing, and the practical costs of heat, diesel, and natural gas in late season. They discuss the idea of a U.S. diesel export ban and what that could mean for Canada, especially Ontario, Saskatchewan, and eastern pricing. Graham argues that global energy pricing is heavily interconnected and politically managed rather than purely market-driven. They react to a clip about Marc Carney and describe his communication style as a repeated use of the same phrases, especially "deepening," which they frame as a propaganda tactic. Darren plays through examples of Canadian political and media messaging, including climate language, aid to Ukraine, and claims about national decline. They discuss a Toronto school board example that frames stoicism, self-sufficiency, mental toughness, and physical toughness as toxic masculinity traits. Darren and Graham critique a viral clip about MAID and the Canadian medical system, then pivot into broader concerns about healthcare delays and treatment windows. They dig into "illusory truth" as a persuasion strategy, where repetition makes claims feel believable even when the underlying facts are weak. Later segments move into broader historical and philosophical quotes from Hannah Arendt and Ayn Rand about corruption, social collapse, and belief manipulation. The back half shifts into infrastructure failure, including a Los Angeles bridge project Darren cites as an example of waste and decay. The episode closes with a long exchange about vaccines, mRNA, tick-borne illness claims, the PREP Act, and mistrust of public health institutions. BLACKFEET.Antebellum Struggles Reshape Nineteenth Century NationsAlan Taylor, author of American Civil Wars: A Continental History, 1850–1873, Part One: Jane Maria Eliza McManus, educated in New York and associated with Aaron Burr, advocated for Manifest Destiny and expanding southern slaveholding society into the Caribbean and Mexico to "whiten" America. Her expansionist vision contrasted sharply with Jane Swisshelm, an abolitionist and feminist journalist who operated a newspaper in St. Cloud, Minnesota, clashing with local political bosses. Meanwhile, Harriet Tubman navigated runaways along the Underground Railroadinto Canada to escape federal fugitive slave laws. Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin generated widespread empathy across the North. National politics fractured following Stephen Douglas's Kansas-Nebraska Act, which promoted popular sovereignty and sparked border violence in Kansas. Extremes widened as John Brown executed broadsword attacks at Pottawatomie. In Mexico, Melchor Ocampo led the Liberal Party against Conservatives in a devastating civil war over church power, land reform, and constitutional rights. (1)

Fifty years after Woodswoman introduced readers to a woman building an independent life in a remote Adirondack cabin, Anne LaBastille still captures the imagination. But the cabin on Twitchell Lake was only one part of her remarkable story. We talk with seventh-generation Adirondacker and author Penny Harr about her new book, Anne LaBastille: A Biography of the Woodswoman, and the woman she discovered through years of interviews and archival research.Anne was a wildlife ecologist, writer, licensed Adirondack guide, Adirondack Park Agency commissioner and international conservationist. She earned her Ph.D. from Cornell, conducted environmental work in Guatemala and elsewhere around the world, and built a career in fields where women were often expected to stay on the sidelines.Penny takes us beyond the familiar legend to explore Anne's fierce independence, complicated personality, relentless work ethic and lasting influence on the Adirondacks. We also visit the story behind her famous cabin, now preserved at Adirondack Experience in Blue Mountain Lake, and consider why her ideas about wilderness, silence, conservation and slowing down outdoors still feel so relevant 50 years later. What you'll hear in this episodeHow Anne LaBastille found her way to the Adirondacks. The reality behind building and living in her Twitchell Lake cabin. The scientist and conservationist behind the Woodswoman legend. How she broke barriers in male-dominated fields. Why Woodswoman became a symbol of independence for generations of women. How Anne's cabin and conservation legacy are being preserved today. Why her message about wilderness, silence and protecting the Adirondacks still resonates.Resources:Anne LaBastille: A Biography of the WoodswomanAnne LaBastille's Cabin at Adirondack Experience Woodswoman by Anne LaBastilleAdirondack Center for WritingProduced by NOVA

In this episode, we sit down with Deborah, who grew up in rural California and now lives in a South Dakota town where Bigfoot sightings are regularly reported.Deborah recounts a terrifying night at her family's remote cabin near Lake Tahoe in the 1960s. During a snowy winter night, something prowled outside and violently thrashed against the cabin, tormenting the family for hours. By morning, mysterious scratches and claw marks had been left behind—marks unlike those of any known big cat, bear, or other native animal. This disturbing evidence convinced the family that the elusive Sasquatch may have been responsible. She also takes us inside her unusual childhood growing up in a military family. Deborah believes her father worked on highly classified technology—work that appeared to leave him deeply paranoid. For years, she assumed his behaviour was unique to him, until she recently met someone whose father had worked alongside him and displayed many of the same troubling tendencies. Deborah also reveals her family's extraordinary military history, including her great grandfather, General Karl Wolff who worked closely with Adolf Hitler. Finally, Deborah shares stories from one of the strangest periods of her life: working in an intensely haunted thrift store. Paranormal activity was an almost daily occurrence for Deborah and her coworkers, ranging from unexplained disturbances and ghostly apparitions to direct communication with unseen entities. It was a workplace that seemed as though it had been lifted straight from a Stephen King novel. Was the thrift store situated near some kind of portal, or were haunted objects unknowingly being brought through its doors? Crrow777 joins Graham, Darren, and Rose for a wide-ranging conversation about solar observation, lunar oddities, UFO footage, and why he believes mainstream cosmology is built on bad assumptions. The discussion centers on what amateur observers can actually verify with their own equipment and why that matters more than official narratives. This episode is especially focused on the sun and moon as observable realities, with Crow walking through his telescope methods, his footage, and his broader view of consciousness, deception, and the coming era shift. https://www.crrow777radio.com/ https://linktr.ee/telescope https://linktr.ee/crrow777 Our old episode with Crrow777 https://grimerica.ca/2015/03/27/109/ To gain access to the second half of show and our Plus feed for audio and podcast please clink the link http://www.grimericaoutlawed.ca/support. He explains his "second sun" capture from 2015, arguing it is not Venus or Mercury and saying a later observatory clip publicly referenced it as the "second sun." We discuss the Tycho model, with Crow defending Tycho Brahe as the gold standard of first-hand observation and criticizing later systems as refashioned, socially engineered versions of the data. He argues the sun is much closer than commonly claimed, that the moon is a luminary, and that the current scale of the solar system is intentionally exaggerated. Crow describes the lunar wave as a repeated, filmable phenomenon that later showed up in front of the moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and the sun, and says he now thinks of it as a firmament wave. He walks through his solar imaging process, including hydrogen alpha filtering, black-and-white capture for maximum data, and why color is added later. We discuss his belief that the sun is electromagnetic rather than a nuclear furnace, with prominences and sunspot motion appearing to behave like plasma and magnetic patterns. Crow says chemtrails scatter sunlight and may be part of a larger effort to block what he sees as a consciousness and spiritual "download" from the sun. He recounts being censored on video platforms after covering false flag events, saying that experience pushed him to host everything on his own server instead. He shares footage of UFO-like objects, including a glowing orb, a thruster-like craft, and a possible vortex or portal near the moon, while stressing he only trusts footage he personally shot. Rose joins to explain how she helps organize the material, transcribe episodes by hand, and point listeners to the relevant footage and playlists. Crow closes with a prediction that the next major shift in consciousness will become more obvious around 2030 to 2032, with more turbulence before then. https://www.skool.com/audiobooks THE GRIMOIRE Audiobook Club and Library https://pegsandjokers.ca/ Family and Friends Cards and Pegs Boardgame online https://www.simulationmaps.com/#products Disaster Maps, Volcano Sim, Asteroid Sim, Shipwreck Map, UFO Map etc Support the show directly: https://open.spotify.com/show/2punSyd9Cw76ZtvHxMKenI?si=ImKxfMHgQZ-oshl499O4dQ&nd=1&dlsi=4c25fa9c78674de3 Watch or Listen on Spotify https://grimerica.ca/support-2/ Our Adultbrain Audiobook Podcast and Website: www.adultbrain.ca Check out our next trip/conference/meetup - Contact at the Cabin www.contactatthecabin.com Join the chat / hangout with a bunch of fellow Grimericans Https://t.me.grimerica grimerica.ca/chats Discord Chats Darren's books www.acanadianshame.ca Sign up for our newsletter http://www.grimerica.ca/news InstaGRAM https://www.instagram.com/the_grimerica_show_podcast/ Purchase swag, with partial proceeds donated to the show www.grimerica.ca/swag ART - Napolean Duheme's site http://www.lostbreadcomic.com/ MUSIC Tru Northperception, Felix's Site sirfelix.bandcamp.com Timestamps 00:00 - Reconnecting after 11 years and Crow's solar work since the last interview 00:58 - The first "second sun" capture and why he thinks it matters 02:01 - Vedic binary sun ideas and the claim that the object has its own electromagnetic field 03:31 - Why he says the object is not Mercury or Venus 06:28 - Hydrogen alpha imaging, sunrise and sunset conditions, and why the object is hard to see 08:55 - Tycho Brahe as the observational benchmark 11:57 - Why Crow thinks Tycho's work was later refashioned through Kepler and Copernicus 13:16 - Moon distance, the 400-to-1 eclipse claim, and why he rejects the standard story 14:14 - The observatory clip that labeled the object the "second sun" 16:04 - Space as planes, portaling, and why he does not buy the mainstream UFO narrative 18:44 - First-hand UFO footage versus AI-generated or staged material 20:48 - Why he distrusts most online footage unless he shot it himself 22:44 - The boomerang-shaped object crossing the moon 24:15 - Why his sun footage is filmed in frames and why motion has to be built from long captures 25:19 - Why he does not believe spacecraft have landed on the moon 26:15 - The moon as a luminary, hermetic enclosure ideas, and out-of-body observation in old texts 27:37 - The lunar anomaly lights and why they remain unexplained 28:12 - What the lunar wave looks like and why he thinks it is not unique to the moon 29:22 - The "liquid" space idea and wave distortion across the moon 30:30 - Leaving YouTube after censorship and moving to his own server 31:19 - The Mandalay Bay coverage, the deleted channel, and why he stopped publishing there 33:30 - Inverted sun images, filaments, prominences, and how his current setup changed the detail level 34:38 - Why he rejects the nuclear furnace model for the sun 37:16 - Sun gazing, eyesight, energy, and how he approaches it safely 39:05 - Sunspot stills, magnification, and hydrogen alpha filters 41:38 - Why he says amateurs, not institutions, are the best source for sky verification 45:05 - Liquid plasma motion, coronal mass ejections, and the frame-by-frame method 47:10 - Chemtrails, sunlight scattering, and his consciousness interpretation 48:38 - Sunlight, skin cancer, and his pushback against fear-based messaging 50:00 - Sun gazing practice, red-shift timing, and gradual adaptation 52:43 - Urine therapy, stem cell talk, and his current take on it 54:40 - Tycho, stationary Earth, and why he avoids turning it into a fight 56:18 - The plasma orb footage and why he thinks it behaves under its own control 57:27 - Ashton Forbes, orb theories, and his skepticism toward viral agenda-driven claims 60:24 - The three-thruster craft and why he believes it was falling 63:20 - The invisible vortex or portal near the moon 66:22 - Why his solar footage depends so much on seeing conditions 68:02 - How observing the sun changed his view of life and consciousness 69:03 - Saturn, Jupiter, and the wonder of seeing the planets through a scope 72:49 - Venus phase footage and why he thinks it resembles a moon 74:00 - Jupiter's moons, bands, and red spot as evidence against some flat Earth claims 75:27 - Why he thinks scale and map projections are used to shrink human importance 79:35 - Crow's 2030 to 2032 consciousness shift prediction 83:11 - The website, the film Shoot the Moon, and Rose's role in organizing everything 85:34 - Rose explains the social links, telescope footage, and how she helps listeners find material 87:50 - Closing thanks and reflections on how fast the last 11 years passed

#780 - Wayne Purdin - Contact, Visions, Prophecy and the Golden Age

Interview starts at 31:35 This episode follows Wayne Purdin's early UFO encounters, his years as a UFO investigator, and how those experiences eventually led him into meditation, devotional practice, and prophetic interpretation. Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes press Wayne on the line between extraterrestrial contact and spiritual experience, especially around CE5, grays, and higher beings. Wayne's story centers on a 1967 sighting that he describes as a first contact experience, plus a later cigar-shaped craft sighting with multiple independent witnesses. From there, the conversation moves into his spiritual framework, his books, and his view that the coming years are tied to a possible evacuation, mitigation, or golden-age transition. My website: https://wayne-purdin.com My blog: https://wpurdin.wixsite.com/elixir/ My articles on Sungazing: Sun Meditation and Gazing to Experience the God Presence, Sun Yoga, Sun Gazing, Surya Namaskar My contributions to Sunlightenment.com: sunlightenment.com/?s=Purdin#google_vignette shakti-meditation.com Key topics Wayne says his first UFO sighting happened on June 5, 1967, during a regional blackout, and he describes a large craft with several bright lights as a Pleiadian ship. He says that during that sighting he prayed for guidance and received a telepathic message: "you will find a teacher." Wayne recounts a second sighting in September 1967 of a silent cigar-shaped craft near Waterford, Connecticut. He says the next morning he heard multiple corroborating cigar-shaped UFO reports on talk radio, including one report of a craft splitting in half and another involving a person in a shiny spacesuit. He explains his background with APRO and NICAP, saying he investigated newspaper sightings and interviewed witnesses with a large tape recorder. The conversation shifts into meditation and spiritual development, including Wayne's move away from UFO investigation and into Transcendental Meditation and later teaching. Wayne discusses a meditative near-death experience where he encountered the goddess Durga, described a dweller or personal demon blocking access, and said the obstacle was overcome through devotion and love. He draws a clear distinction between spiritual contact and extraterrestrial contact, arguing that devotion and consciousness determine what kind of beings someone attracts. Wayne says he believes his 1967 message about meeting a teacher was fulfilled decades later when he met Ananda Devi Ma, whom he identifies as a co-author and spiritual guide. The bulk of the episode focuses on his prophecy work, especially his book Twenty Thirty Five Golden Ageand his timeline centered on September 9 to 11, 2029. He explains three different methods he used to derive the date, including a calculation from his own visions, a Daniel prophecy reference, and patterns in the Jewish calendar. Wayne argues that the coming period could involve mass evacuation, tribulation, or mitigation depending on collective karma and prayer. Graham and Darren repeatedly challenge and clarify whether the prophecy is fixed, symbolic, or something that can still be changed by consciousness and preparation. This episode digs into a controversial theory about SARS-CoV-2 origins, focusing on documents, timelines, and lab-to-lab collaboration rather than the usual public narrative. Jim Haslam lays out his case for how the virus was engineered as part of animal vaccine research, while George Howard helps connect the investigative and public-transparency angles. The conversation also focuses on UNC records, Rocky Mountain Lab, Wuhan, and the broader issue of dual-use biodefense research. Jim Haslam Author of COVID-19: Mystery Solved: It leaked from a Wuhan lab but it's not Chinese junk: https://a.co/d/gD8JQqi https://jimhaslam.substack.com/ https://x.com/jhas5 George Howard Pajama scientist and former business owner. More than 1K Younger Dryas Impact citations since 2007. Founding Partner Titan Network. https://carolinaflu.org/ https://x.com/CosmicTusk Key Topics Jim Haslam explains the core thesis of his book, COVID-19 Mystery Solved, arguing that SARS-CoV-2 emerged from a U.S. led research network rather than a simple Wuhan lab accident. The discussion centers on Ralph Baric, the University of North Carolina, and documents Haslam says show early work on a SARS-like genome and a furin cleavage site. George Howard frames the issue as a transparency battle, pointing listeners to the Carolinaflu.org petition and UNC's ongoing resistance to releasing records. The hosts revisit the mainstream lab leak narrative and debate when public opinion shifted from "impossible" to "probably lab leak." A major thread is the claim that the virus was developed as an animal vaccine model involving bats, mink, deer, ferrets, and hamsters. Haslam argues the research was dual-use and aerosol-focused, with Vincent Munster and Tony Fauci's biodefense ecosystem playing major roles in making the pathogen highly transmissible. The conversation returns to FOIA material, email trails, and what the guests describe as incriminating silences or resignations from researchers involved in the work. The group discusses the February 2020 call, the proximal origin paper, and how the scientific and media response shaped the public story. George Howard emphasizes that the UNC document fight is still unfinished, with thousands of pre-pandemic records allegedly still withheld. The episode closes with a call for listeners to support transparency efforts and read Haslam's book for the full argument. #428 - Outlawed Round Up 9.9.26 - Gods Work | Prometheus V. Lamassu

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 10, 2026 51:26

Return after a week off with a wide-ranging roundup covering AI tools, Earth's rotation, ancient protective statues, Canadian politics, surveillance, climate data, archaeology, body brokers, and geopolitical theories. The hosts trade clips, react to current events, test AI summarization tools, and explore how symbolism, institutions, and hidden power structures shape the stories they're discussing. To gain access to the second half of show and our Plus feed for audio and podcast please clink the link http://www.grimericaoutlawed.ca/support. For second half of video (when applicable and audio) go to our Substack and Subscribe. https://grimericaoutlawed.substack.com/ or to our Locals https://grimericaoutlawed.locals.com/ or Patreon https://www.patreon.com/grimericaoutlawed Key topics The hosts return after a two-week break and catch up on what's happening in their lives. Darren and Graham test Claude and Grok for summarizing dense information and debate whether AI tools rely too heavily on mainstream sources. A scientific paper about Earth's rotation and changes in the length of day is translated into plain English. Graham explains the history and symbolism of the Lamassu, ancient winged guardian statues from Mesopotamia. The destruction of Lamassu statues by ISIS is compared with the construction of a giant Prometheus statue near Starbase in Texas. The hosts discuss Prometheus, the Statue of Liberty, technological ambition, and the symbolism of monumental art. Darren and Graham revisit JD Vance's comments about "doing God's work" and debate how much context is lost in short political clips. Flock cameras, surveillance systems, and possible replacements become part of a broader discussion about institutional control. The episode explores claims involving Davos, chemtrails, weather modification, and the reliability of viral investigative videos. Mark Carney, the World Economic Forum, Canadian politics, and alleged elite networks are examined. Graham discusses BC politics, floor crossing, party loyalty, and voter representation. A story involving the RCMP and online comments leads to a discussion about free speech and political censorship. Ursula von der Leyen's comments about putting European savings to work prompt a debate about financial control and government overreach. The hosts question climate records, NOAA data, weather stations, and the treatment of historical outliers. Darren shares clips about prehistoric surgery, early human settlement in Australia, and the possibility of giants in ancient North America. A disturbing story about body brokers and the illegal trafficking of human remains leads to speculation about a larger black market. The second half turns toward Iran, Israel, Trump, JFK, Q-related theories, and alleged coded messages in official government posts. The episode closes with discussions of offshore finance, the British Virgin Islands, central banking, sovereign alliances, and the future geopolitical order. For this week's story we have a ghostly legend inundated by real histories, “The Phantom Lovers of Lake Drummond.”Written by Martin, it's a dark crater of surging eco-fiction engaging with one of Virginia's most famous folk tales, the early life of George Washington, Harriet Beecher Stowe's much maligned follow-up to Uncle Tom's Cabin, the poetry of Irish folk poet and bard Thomas Moore, the teenaged adventures of Edgar Allan Poe, and more.We very much hope its atmospheric gloom and unusual voice proves to be suitably unsettling, and that you enjoy our chat which follows about some of Virginia's most famous ghost stories and recent correspondence we have received from the lovely members of the Conspiracy of Ravens. Like you!Details in the story were inspired by the poems A Ballad: The Lake of the Dismal Swamp by Thomas Moore and The Lake by Edgar Allan Poe, and the chapter "Canoeing in the Dismal Swamp" from the book Athletics and Manly Sport by John Boyle O'Reilly, published in 1890.
