On this eye-opening episode of Vitality Radio, Jared breaks down the part of the supplement label most people ignore: other Ingredients. While active ingredients get all the attention, it's often the excipients—binders, fillers, flow agents, coatings, and colorants—that determine whether your supplement is truly clean and effective. Jared exposes why manufacturers use these "inactive" ingredients, how they impact product quality, and which common additives you should avoid. You'll learn how to read this overlooked section of your supplement label and become an informed, empowered consumer.Additional Information:#525: Decoding Supplement Fact Panels and Becoming a More Informed ConsumerOther Ingredients Breakdown Blog PostVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Kim: Long time client of your IHPs. I have done a ton of work and made overall improvements in my health. However i work with a functional medical doctor to manage my hashimotos. Diagnosed age 14 currently 48. Been on your thyroid support protocol. What are your thoughts on adding t2? I'm currently on a combination of 137 Tirosent and 5mcg cytomel. I'm a non converter of t4 to t3 (high reverse t3 always). Did stress protocols etc work on sleeping which helps. Ironically my dr has never heard of supplementing with t2!!   Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral, I have a question regarding Calcium Carbonate. I heard in podcast 1177 that you do not recommend this form of Calcium, yet I noticed that it's in the Alkalizing Vitamin C powder. Can you please elaborate on whether it is safe to take it in this supplement or not? Thanks   Kristin: Hi, Thank you for all of your education! I know there is a lot of information out there. I appreciate how your natural health recommendations are backed by evidence for their safety and effectiveness! I am hearing about ingesting Borax in small dosages mixed with water as a method of rebalancing toxicities including boron mineral deficiency, supporting with Candida bacterial overgrowth and heavy metal detoxing amongst others. My understanding is it also acts as a biofilm disruptor. Are you familiar with this practice and what are your thoughts about the safety and effectiveness of this practice? Is there a place for borax in a rebalancing protocol? Thank you!   Inga: Thank you Dr. Cabral for all your help and knowledge. I listen to your podcast all the time! So I have been having a more rapid heart rate when I drink alcohol. It started a year ago and would happen when I had a stronger drink or later in the night. Now it's happening every time I have a drink no matter the time or the percent of alcohol.. I have usually a drink or two on the weekends. I have currently stopped drinking. I'm fairly healthy, I work out 5 days a week. I eat lots of vegetables and good protein. I try to not eat a lot of sugar and have a cup of coffee a day .. both of my grand mothers had pacemaker so the rapid heart rate scares me .. any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your knowledge and kindness   Scott: Hello Dr. Cabral! I had a question about bladderwrack. I first heard about it on the 'Survivorman' show when he was in surviving in Alaska. It was said that it had many nutrients and protein in it. I was wondering if you had any knowledge of it and or experience in any of the internships you were in? I see that there are some supplements online. I tend to be a google-skeptic when reading about these supplements, the good, and their side effects. Could too much bladderwrack overload you with heavy metals since it comes from the sea? I trust your knowledge and experience above all. Thanks for all that you do…Ayubowan!   Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/2851 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? I discuss calcium carbonate pharmacology, adverse effects, drug interactions, and more in this podcast episode. Calcium tends to have a constipating effect and the higher the dose, the more likely patients are to experience this adverse effect. Binding interactions are a major problem with oral calcium carbonate. I lay out numerous examples of this on the podcast. There are a few medications that can increase calcium levels in the blood. Thiazide diuretics are a commonly used antihypertensive that may contribute to hypercalcemia.

So adding soda ash should be added slowly, and pre-dissolved.19:56 - The cloud, it either gets filtered out, goes back into solution when the chemistry normalizes, or it precipitates out as dust.20:27 - Plaster dust26:52 - Carbonate clouding30:12 - Winter dust34:52 - Summary - Thanks for listening! ------------------------------------Connect with Orenda TechnologiesWebsite: https://www.orendatech.comBlog: https://blog.orendatech.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/OrendaTechnologiesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/orendatech/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/orendatechnologies/

00:00 - Intro01:57 - Definition of scale: Scale is the hardened deposit of a calcium compound that has precipitated out of solution. 02:30 - Analogy of sugar in a drink. This analogy explains the difference between the saturation of calcium carbonate (LSI), and the amount of calcium carbonate (calcium hardness). 06:33 - Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is the most common form of scale, by far. But there are other forms of scale: calcium silica, calcium sulfate, calcium phosphate, and probably some other obscure ones we have yet to encounter. They are more difficult to deal with.12:35 - The same amount of 'sugar' (calcium carbonate) can be too much, too little, or just right, depending on other factors in the LSI. The key here is that scale falls out of solution when the water is oversaturated. Carbonate scale occurs over +0.30 LSI.16:10 - When you see scale in your pool, it will always be in the hottest places first. In the case of carbonate scale, it will be in the highest-LSI areas first. Primarily a salt cell or heater. Flakes in salt cells occur because of a localized LSI violation in the salt cell.22:08 - If scale is not on plastic fittings, the face of tile, lights, etc., it's not scale. It must have come from the cement, not the water.25:46 - To chelate or sequester, the water needs to be warm enough (~65ºF or warmer), or else the chemicals will not activate. The warmer the water, the faster these chemicals work.29:06 - How to remove scale32:28 - Summary. Thanks for listening! Growing With Fishes Podcast. A podcast dedicated to growing aquaponic & cannabis and spreading information to the masses about sustainable cannabis and veggie production! Clackamas Coot Soil Mix By volume mix the following... 1/3 Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss (CSPM) 1/3 Aeration - I use 3/8" pumice (aka volcanic glass - completely inert) 1/3 Vermicompost When it comes to CSPM it does not matter one iota as far as the brand as long as it's designated as CSPMA (Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association) which is a partnership between the handful of authorized harvesters and the Canadian government. CSPMA sets the harvest limit and not market demands. You should ind this at Home Depot and Lowe's in 3.8 cf bales and if it is not available at your local stores then order it online (HomeDepot.com) and have them 'ship to store' at your store of choice. No charge for shipping and handling! A cubic foot is about 7.20 gallons or 115 cups... To this I add the following amendments to each 1 cubic foot.. 1 cup kelp meal 1 cup neem meal or an equal amount of neem & karanja mix 1 cup of limestone or more exactly Calcium Carbonate CaCO3 so Oyster Shell Powder/flour can also be used as it is also a pure Calcium Carbonate material 1/2 cup Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate) available at all DIY stores but you must get the material in the garden section and not in the home remodel section. There are 2 forms of gypsum so make sure you get the one for soil and not walls... Finally there is the rock dust which I recommend 3 cups of either basalt or granite. Only these 2 materials are 'paramagnetic' which is an integral part of the CeC discussion (Cation exchange Capacity). Rock dusts like Azomite, bentonite, zeolite and others are called 'colloidal minerals' - alumina-silicate. For example Azomite is a brand name. A geologist would know it as "Hydrated Sodium Calcium Aluminosilicate" and it's known as "Montmorillonite clay" This clay has been used in France to built ceramic bread ovens which look like a bee hive. They have a small door in the front of the oven where loaves of bread are move in and out using what is called a peel. While it makes a great ceramic oven I can't find much to cause me to recommend it in a true living soil that is supposed to last 'forever' if taken care of using organic methods. https://clackamascoots.com/blogs/news/coots-soil-recipe-coots-nutes Chris Trump ChrisTrump.com Growing With Fishes Podcast Discord https://discord.gg/nqBf3bj Aquaponic Cannabis Merch https://jellibomb.myshopify.com/collections/aquaponic-cannabis-conference-2020?fbclid=IwAR3P2ym57P0OXaAJHXozGLh8lQxxeE_SHwFiDYlLfTgYTW4lHnscLoew_7A Potent Ponics Classes http://www.APMJClass.com Marty's Channel APMeds https://www.youtube.com/user/mwaddell6901/videos Steve Channel Potent Ponics https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRkqYlFzKpbCXreVKPYFlGg Facebook group Aquaponic Cannabis Growers https://www.facebook.com/groups/1510902559180077/ Potentponics.com True Aquaponic Nutrients https://trueaquaponics.com/?ref=zQK0Q

Saturday & Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM EST. USA Only. Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course! Today we're going to talk about the side effect of calcium carbonate. A lot of people take calcium carbonate, but they don't know much about it. The biggest thing you need to know is that calcium and other minerals need an acidic medium to be absorbed. If your stomach does not have the acidity you need, the calcium will not be absorbed well. A lot of people take calcium carbonate for heartburn, and the calcium carbonate dries up the acid in the stomach over time. So not only is the calcium not being absorbed, but it also ends up actually causing heartburn. In my opinion, apple cider vinegar might be a better choice for GERD or heartburn. But, of course, check with your doctor. Some studies show that high doses of calcium carbonate also do not increase bone density in osteoporosis. But, it did increase the risk of heart attacks. Calcium carbonate may even lower the thyroid function and block a person's ability to utilize T3 (the active form of thyroid hormone). Side effects of calcium carbonate: 1. Loss of appetite 2. Constipation 3. Gas 4. Nausea 5. Vomiting 6. A decrease in hydrochloric acid (HCL) Contraindications to calcium carbonate: • Kidney stones • Hypercalcemia • Calcification • A severe interaction with 210 drugs A lot of people are taking massive doses of calcium carbonate, thinking that it will prevent bone loss when it could actually be creating other issues. I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started!   Sandra: Hello! Love your podcast. My supply is drying up please help! I have listened to your podcast about goat milk formula and I’m forced to choose between two. One is called Holle Organic goat milk formula and the other one is non gmo Kabrita goat milk Formula. Should I choose the organic one because non organic has pesticides? Here are the ingredients for both. Do any of these ingredients look alarming to you? You said to stay away from palm oil. Seems like every goat milk formula available has some type of palm or vegetable oil in it. What about organic dairy formula? Baby only is the brand I used with my daughter. Is Taurine an ingredient I should avaoid? What about palm kernal oil? Sunflower seed oil? I’ll attach the dairy one too for ingredients. I know you can’t tell me what to feed me baby but i value your opinion and i hope you can educate me on which one has the best ingredients so i don’t have to have anxiety over it. Cant wait to hear your response on the podcast. Hope all is well. Can you please do a podcast on slow oxidizers? My husband and I have recently gone through a 1 hour coaching session with one of your fabulous health coaches and she mentioned that we were both slow oxidizers. She answered our questions and gave us some great health recommendations but I'd love to learn more about slow oxidizers. Are there specific foods that would be best for me? How should my habits differ from a fast oxidizer? Is it a good or a bad thing to be a slow oxidizer? Anything else I should know about being a slow oxidizer? Thank you, Judy Jordan: I am interested in working with Dr. Cabral on wellness issues including general fatigue and immunity issues. Is he able to do this consultation remotely? I live in Tacoma, Washington. Also - will you bill insurance or provide me with forms to submit to my insurance company? Carter: Hey stephen! LOVE everything you do!! I have a cousin with cery bad dystonia, have you heard of this? It is genetic in our family but my mother does not carry the gene. He is stuggling bad and has found little relief with brain surgeries, wires/batteries put into his chest and brain etc. He would be willing to try ANYTHING and supports alternative medicine 100% so please ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks again much love everyone on the cabral team!  Stacey: Hi Dr. Cabral. I was wondering if you could do an episode on lupus if possible. My husband has lupus that affects the skin only. He breaks out in rashes if exposed to too much sun. It is pretty well confined to his back. He is 41 and it presented itself in his mid 30's. He does take an anti malarial medication to help control it. Are there any dietary or lifestyle changes that we could make to better control this? Any advice would be appreciated!! Thank you, Stacey Zoe: Hi Dr. Cabral, I've just listened to your podcast on keto (965) and I wanted to confirm that everything you have warned about has happened to me. I'm a highly stressed (presumed/self assessed) vata-pitta dosha - I operate at a hundred miles an hour and pride myself on "efficiency" rather than moderation. I started exercising with a personal trainer 3x per week for 6months (on top of walking 10k steps, cycling everywhere and generally rushing about all over the place) and undertook a highly keto (80%+ fat diet) for this period, plus a further 6 months. I also undertook significant fasting periods (regularly 60hr water fasts) and undertook fasted workouts. Initially, I felt good, almost "high" and was running off cortisol/adrenalin. In the last couple of months, I realised that I was flagging and wasting my muscles (despite undertaking strength and cardio training). Long story short, I think I have flogged my adrenals and thyroid half to death (nb I was previously informed by a conventional GP that my thyroid was borderline underactive, although I never took medication) - I am now introducing a lot more carbs into my diet (now aiming for 200g per day, which is more than I have had for years and years). (I think) I have realized my mistakes with surviving on a keto diet with long periods of fasting just in the nick of time - and am thankful for your insight, which helped me come to this conclusion (albeit more slowly than I should have!). A quick question - do you think that fasting for any period longer than the overnight 12 hours can be helpful/advisable for someone in my situation - that is a high-cortisol, adrenal fatigued female in her early thirties. I loved the effect that fasting had on clearing brain fog and an almost "spiritual" feeling after the 36 hr period, but im now afraid to do anything to further wreck my fragile adrenals. Secondly, and unrelated, would it be possible for you to dedicate an entire podcast to the menopause. My mother is suffering extensively with effects, including very low estrogen, feelings of anger, uncontrolled emotions and dryness. Thanks for all you do - you're an incredible contributor to this world. Basics Calcium is a natural element (yep, one of those periodic table guys).  Our teeth and our bones are made strong by it. For most healthy adults, daily recommended amount is 1000 mg.  For females approaching 50 years old, recommendation increases to 1200 mg to 15oo mg per day. The trick to supplementation is knowing that your body can only absorb 500 mg of elemental calcium at a time.  So you gotta split it up.  When you get it from your diet, then this is NBD because it will naturally be spread out between your meals and snacks. These supplements always go with Vitamin D.  Vitamin D is responsible for helping with calcium absorption.  If you're low on D (and more people are than might realize b/c very few jobs have you working out in the sun - and Vitamin D is synthesized and activated by UV exposure), calcium can't be absorbed and used like it should. 2 types of OTC supplements Calcium carbonate (Caltrate) - a base (also what makes up OTC antacid tablets [i.e. Tums] so a bonus if you have heartburn); requires the acid in your stomach to break out of the tablet for your body to use. Calcium citrate (Citracal) - an acid; doesn't require extra stomach acid to be absorbed. A good supplement for those who had gastric bypass, because the stomach has been shrunk and there are less acid pumps to break down medications that require acid to work.  Bad for people with reflux or ulcers. The labels can be tricky.  It will say "600 mg Calcium Carbonate", but you have to look for the hint of how much elemental calcium that is equal to.  This is because your recommended daily dose is in milligrams of elemental calcium.  So, doctors don't always tell you that when they recommend it.  Your calcium-rich foods are going to provide you with 250-300 mg of elemental calcium per serving (about 25% of your daily requirement). Random dietary sources (between 6-20% of your daily requirement) White Beans Black-eyed Peas Sardines (cuz you eat their bones?!) Dried Figs Bok Choy Molasses Kale Turnip Greens Almonds Oranges Sesame Seeds Calcium-fortified foods Instant Oatmeal Mainstream orange juices Soy products (because you're using them instead of dairy and animal products) Cheerios Vitamin D helps your stomach absorb the calcium into the blood.  And then in the blood, keeps the calcium from binding with other things, so it's free when the body needs it in other places. Unfortunately, pounding supplements is not going to reverse osteoporosis. Recommended dose for kids 1 to 3 years old — 700 milligrams daily 4 to 8 years old — 1,000 milligrams daily 9 to 18 years old — 1,300 milligrams daily Usually not hard for kids to get the right amount with their diet plus a vitamin.  Babies don't need supplementation since their main source of nutrition is milk (breast milk or formula). Seasonal Affective Disorder - is partly due to a Vit D deficiency, because Vit D also helps with mood.  The sun exposure is the best way to supply your body with Vit D.  A bonus is that sunlight stimulates serotonin production in your brain which is also responsible for good mood.
