It's the fall of 1989 and the Paul McCartney World Tour is officially underway! Along the way on the road with Macca were the lessons gleaned from tours past - including the notion that his band ought to be broken-in in front of friendly or otherwise European crowds before heading to the UK or North America. And so it was on September 25th that the McCartneys - along with guitarist Hamish Stuart, keyboardist Paul "Wix" Wickens guitarist Robbie McIntosh and drummer Chris Whitten - hit the stage in Oslo, Norway for a series of engagements up and down the continent for the next several months. Paul's tour was met with praise from fans and reviewers alike, and would serve as exactly the boost he needed to sustain a hefty touring schedule for the foreseeable future - as well as serving as an overall template for future tours to come. As McCartney won the hearts and minds of Europe, Ringo Starr was making a return of his own, playing the Budokan in Japan for the first time since the Beatles themselves performed there live in 1966... With Paul McCartney's newest LP Flowers in the Dirt climbing the charts and reigniting a wave of critical praise for Macca's music, Parlophone and Capitol release the second single slated from the album: This One. A rare glimpse into Paul's emotional state, the song captures a conciliatory tone of regret and longing...albeit alongside Paul's trademark deflection lurking around every corner. As the McCartneys dug in on promotion for the single, Ringo Starr had some big news of his own: his first ever concert tour! Ringo Starr and the All Star Band will pair Ringo with friends and musicians for a North American victory lap of hits, and the freshly sober Starr was ready to put rubber to the road on the idea starting later in the summer of 1989... Melissa Forman talks about Paul McCartneys favorite Beatles song.
"Elsker The Beatles" er virkelig stolt over nærværende episode.
Turbulente Produktionsbedingungen "Band on the Run" wurde in Afrika, in Nigeria, genau genommen in Lagos produziert. Alle Tapes und Ideen, die Paul bisher in irgendeiner Form für "Band on the Run" gesammelt hatte, waren also weg. McCartney antwortet seinerseits in "Band on the Run" mit dem Song "Let Me Roll It". "Let Me Roll It" ist ursprünglich eine Textzeile aus einem George Harrison-Song "I'd Have You Anytime" aus dem Album "All Things Must Pass" von 1970. John Lennon bezeichnete seinerseits das Album "Band on the Run" sogar als fantastisches Werk. __________ Über diese Songs vom Album "Band on the Run" wird im Podcast gesprochen (15:50) – "Bluebird"(25:24) – "Jet"(29:49) – "Band on the Run"(48:33) – "Let Me Roll It"(52:27) – "Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)"__________ Über diese Songs wird außerdem im Podcast gesprochen (47:31) – "Too Many People" von Paul McCartney und Lina McCartney(49:14) – "I'd Have You Anytime" von George Harrison __________ Paul Mc Cartney & Wings Rockshow Live: https://youtu.be/BiCboZoKOcw?si=xPYLZJiAC3KyKQyh Rolling Stone: Paul McCartney & Wings veröffentlichen "Band on the Run": https://www.rollingstone.de/rewind-today-1973-paul-mccartney-wings-veroeffentlichen-band-on-the-run-362018/ Musik-Sammler Release: "Band on the Run": https://www.musik-sammler.de/release/paul-mccartney-wings-band-on-the-run-2-cd-358897/ YouTube Paul McCartney "Band on the Run": https://youtu.be/LulVVED_93c?si=ZU0uORCdXgIEfFq8 John Lennon singt das Album "Band on the Run": https://youtu.be/FPkC54xEEnU?si=JEzTPGiD4fno63oa Paul McCartney & Wings "Band on the Run" BBC-Doku: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9dEqN-dQtY __________ Ihr wollt mehr Podcasts wie diesen? NY EPISODE UDE NU: HENRIK IRGENS ELSKER THE BEATLES! Find mere om Henrik Irgens her: https://henrik.co.uk https://linktr.ee/henrikirgens

Melissa Forman talks with Producer Jim about Paul McCartneys birthday.
This episode revisits my interview with RAM engineer, Eirik "The Norwegian" Wangberg, the engineer that spent two months alone in a studio with Paul and Linda McCartney during the making of RAM. Due to these circumstances, Wangberg was able to observe the McCartneys at a time when they were quite insular, so it was a treat to speak to the charming Norwegian. According to Wangberg, McCartney "was in a tough, tough situation. But he did it marvelously...His spirit was totally free." Wangberg wore many hats in the album's creation, ultimately sequencing and mixing the album. http://www.eirikwangberg.com/ One Sweet Dream Info: Website: onesweetdreampodcast.com Email: onesweetdreampodcast@gmail.com Patreon: Patreon.com/onesweetdream Learn more about your ad choices. Tim Christensens "McCartney - Ranking" er delt i to episoder. Her får du nr. 22-11 på listen. Top 10 følger i næste udgave af "Elsker The Beatles".

It's November 1980, and John & Yoko's new LP Double Fantasy is inching up the charts. Reviews were mixed to start, but no one (critic or fan alike) could deny that it was a relief to have new John Lennon material after so many years of musical silence. The album's lead-off single (Just Like) Starting Over had cracked the top 20 on both sides of the Atlantic, and the Lennons were conducting a whirlwind of interviews and publicity pieces to pound the drum of their return. While the other former Beatles settled in for the holiday season (Ringo preparing a Caribbean getaway in the Bahamas with girlfriend Barbara Bach, the McCartneys and the Harrisons back home in England), all seemed calm in the Beatle world, all seemed right...
It's 1980, and just twelve days into the new year (and the new decade) Paul McCartney and Wings touched down at Tokyo's Narita International Airport en route to the Japanese leg of their latest world tour. The high from their electric live set at the Concert for Kampuchea hung in the air as the band braced themselves for another roaring triumph...but a fateful stop through customs upon their arrival would forever alter the trajectory of all involved. Nearly half a pound of Marijuana was extracted from the McCartneys' suitcase, leading to a nine day stay in the Tokyo Narcotics Detention Center and a cancellation of the highly anticipated tour. On January 25th, a shaken McCartney was deported back to Britain, left with an enormous financial loss, a fractured band, and an uncertain path into the 1980's... This week we chat with top Longhorn breeder, Peter Close, as well as prominent auctioneer and Longhorn enthusiast, Clive Roads from McCartneys. With a breed that has been around for hundreds of years, it is not surprising it has had a roller-coaster ride, and we hear of its ups and downs, since Bakewell's time in the early 1800s, to the modern suckler cow breeder of today.

The Lyrics 1956 to the present".
Band on the Run would be the turning point for Paul McCartney's post-Beatles career. After completing two solo albums, McCarney formed Paul McCartney and Wings, with the Wings name being inspired by a time of prayer at the hospital while his wife Linda was having serious complications delivering their second child.Wings had already produced two albums which had met with mixed reviews. McCartney had picked an exotic locale of Lagos, Nigeria as the recording spot for "Band on the Run," and just before heading out, guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Selwell left the band. That left Paul, his wife Linda, and former Moody Blues alum Denny Laine to complete the album.Nigeria might have been exotic, but it was a horrible choice as a recording location. The country was run by a corrupt military dictatorship, was in the midst of a cholera epidemic, and the studio was in very poor shape. Despite all these problems, the band would turn in a spectacular critical and commercial success. The album has a theme of escape and freedom. It was being put together at the same time as George Harrison, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr all were in litigation against Allen Klein, a hardnosed business manager appointed to run Apple Records in 1969. McCartney had strongly opposed Klein's appointment at the time, and some of the confidence that comes through in the album may come from a sense of being proven right about Klein.McCartney insisted on recording with Linda despite her lack of previous experience as a musician because he didn't want them to be apart while he was on tour. Linda McCartney would be a part of the band from the beginning of Paul McCartney's post-Beatles career. Band on the RunThe opening track and title song is a medley of three songs that all reflect freedom and escape. The lyric, "if we ever get out of here" was inspired by George Harrison in one of the Beatles' business meetings. The original demo recording for "Band on the Run" was stolen at knife-point in Lagos, and the band had to basically re-record it from memory.MamuniaThis deep cut, gets its name from the Mamounia Hotel where the McCartneys stayed in Marrakesh, Morocco in 1973. Mamounia means "safe haven" in Arabic, and McCartney considered it a metaphor for rebirth, continuing the "freedom" theme that would permeate the album. It was the first song recorded for the album.Helen WheelsThis song was not intended to be a part of the album, and does not appear on the British release. Capitol Records convinced Paul McCartney to include it on the American release of the album. The track is a road trip song, and takes its name from the nickname of the McCartney's Land Rover, "hell on wheels." JetThe first single from the album was actually preceded by Helen Wheels as a non-album single released separately. It went to number 7 on both the British and American charts at the end of March. The name is supposedly inspired by the name of the McCartney's Labrador Retriever, though Paul McCartney has also indicated that it was also the name of a pony he owned. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Daybreak by Harry Nilsson (from the motion picture Son of Dracula)A cult classic movie starring Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson with Peter Frampton, John Bonham, Keith Moon, and other rock stars. STAFF PICKS:Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo by Rick DerringerWayne features a rock anthem based off a seductive dance from the 1880's. Derringer originally wrote the song for Johnny Winter, but re-recorded it when he went solo. In addition to working with Johnny Winter, he also played in Edgar Winter's group on both "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride." Derringer also plays guitar on Weird Al Yankovic's parody, "Eat It."Jungle Boogie by Kool & the GangRob cranks up the funk with an early Kool & the Gang hit off their fourth album. The band got their start 10 years prior to this in 1964 after high school. The scat sound is from a roadie for the band. The Loco-Motion by Grand Funk RailroadBrian's pick this week is a cover originally performed by Little Eva in 1962. The song was surprisingly successful despite the unusual choice of a 60's dance song being remade by a hard rock band.Already Gone by The EaglesBruce brings us the first single from the third Eagle's album "On the Border." This song penned by Jack Tempchin and Rob Strandlund is the relational equivalent of a "you can't fire me, I quit" song. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) by MFSBAlmost entirely an instrumental, this disco track will take us out of this week's podcast. MFSB stands for "Mother, Father, Sister, Brother."

Programledare: Saman Bakhtiari Producent: Eskil Krogh Larsson

George….KOM NU MED DEN ALL THINGS MUST PASS BOX!!! For The Beatles junglen har mange vilde, snoede omveje. Enjoy!
As summer turned to fall in September of 1976, three of the four former Beatles found themselves in challenging situations. Ringo Starr's new LP Rotogravure was bursting with pride and ambition from its principle artist, but a lukewarm reception by critics and the public illuminated the first cracks in Starr's successful three-year hit-making streak. Never one to give up, Ringo doubled down on the album's promotion - filming several music videos for the record's singles as well as embarking on a radio interview tour wherein the former fab talked recording, writing, and his recent engagement to fiancé Nancy Andrews. George Harrison's troubles were monetary, having lost the monumental copyright court case over his hit 1970 single My Sweet Lord and its similarities to the 1963 Chiffons hit He's So Fine. As George awaited the judge's punitive damages order, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and baby Sean were in Massachusetts visiting with macrobiotic diet guru Michio Kushi. While the meeting went well, the Lennons were subject to increasing attention from fans and local press, eventually driving them home from their retreat. Paul McCartney's fortunes weren't quite so tumultuous - as the Wings Over the World tour entered its final leg in a stint of shows across Europe to the same roaring crowds and rave reviews that had greeted the band in North America. Stops in Austria, Italy, Germany and even Yugoslavia (becoming the first Beatle to perform from behind the "iron curtain") marked the continued success and validation of Wings, a welcome and well-earned feat for the McCartneys. It's the end of 1975, and this transformative year in Beatles history would in many ways set a new standard for John, Paul, George and Ringo in the latter half of the decade to follow. George Harrison's latest single, This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying), taken from his modestly successful Extra Texture LP, would be the last single released on the original Apple label, and subsequently fail to enter the billboard hot 100 singles chart. George may have entered the 1970's as a musical force to be reckoned with, but this disappointing showing cast some doubt upon the former fab's future commercial vitality. The Beatle to beat at the end of 1975 was the previously D.O.A Paul McCartney, whose group Wings were still running singles up the charts from their Venus & Mars album in December of 1975. Blocked from the Japanese leg of their wildly successful Wings Over the World tour, Paul and Linda returned home for the holidays to work on tracks for a heretofore unplanned Venus & Mars follow-up LP. The McCartneys also made time to stop by the Dakota building in New York City to pay a visit to John & Yoko, who were busy tending to the newborn Sean Ono Lennon when Paul and Linda arrived on their doorstep singing Christmas carols. The arrival of Sean signified a seismic shift in John's personal life - as Lennon had begun clearing the decks of work-related projects since the advent of Yoko's pregnancy earlier in the year. Ringo Starr, meanwhile, may not have had an album release in 1975, but his greatest hits compilation Blast From Your Past satiated fans for content heading into the Christmas season. The changes fortified in 1975 would continue on into the new year, and 1976 was poised to be a landmark for the heights of former Beatle success... Direct from his fabulous writing shed, old pal of the pod Chris Difford remembers the loneliness of a King Crimson obsessive, being sued by the Mayoress of Acton, "plane-spodding", an eventful day with Mitch Mitchell, lunches with the McCartneys and dodgy film entertainment after work at the Readymix Cement Company. It's March of 1975 and a flurry of activity is once again stirring in the world of John Lennon. Newly reunited with wife Yoko Ono and flying high off the heels of his successful Walls & Bridges and Rock And Roll LPs, the reinvigorated ex-Beatle was making preparations to enter the studio to record his next album of original material - tentatively titled Sally & Billy. The prolific John had a lot to be excited about, with new songs of his debuting that month on both David Bowie and Keith Moon's respective new LPs, as well as an extensive interview and live performance session on music haven The Old Grey Whistle Test. Absent from all of this was Paul McCartney, whose hopes for a reunion with Lennon during the New Orleans Wings recording sessions were dashed the month prior. While that meeting was not to meant be, relations remained warm between the Lennons and McCartneys - hope was indeed kept alive for a future collaboration between the two former partners. The Wings Venus & Mars sessions had since relocated to Malibu CA, where Paul and Linda again ran afoul of the law on a Marijuana possession charge when a routine traffic stop yielded a massive bag of weed found on Linda McCartney's person. While this latest altercation with the law resulted in a another slap on the wrist for the famous couple, Marijuana conviction complications would continue to complicate Wings' plans in the months to come. Meanwhile, George Harrison and his Dark Horse label pushed forward with a new single from Splinter, and Ringo Starr brought his new hit single The No No Song to NBC's Hoyt-Axton Boogie Woogie Gospel Rock and Roll Show. Over five years since the Beatles' split, John, Paul George and Ringo were all in the process of making 1975 their most prolific year yet... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
It's 1975! A new year brings a new locale and recording project for Paul McCartney and Wings, who are headed down south to celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans! While this newest Wings line-up continues to solidify, the band drinks in the sights and sounds of the Louisiana atmosphere, capturing moments and melodies destined for the follow-up LP to Paul's December '73 masterpiece Band On The Run. But it's more than just Wings that McCartney is looking to see take flight. An open musical invitation to old pal John Lennon on behalf of Paul in New Orleans appears to validate the ever-swirling rumors of a Beatles reunion that have ebbed and flowed since the fab foursome split 5 years prior. Wounds are now healed, friendships rekindled, and the stage appears to be set for the studio reunion of Lennon and McCartney...but another voice from the past has called for John's attention. Estranged wife Yoko Ono has recaptured John's attention as well, and the spell of the ocean child would ultimately prove more powerful than that of the McCartneys in the big easy... Film - musicalen "Give My Regards To Broadstreet" deler vandene blandt Beatles fans.

It’s 1973 and another major year of transformation and activity for each of the four former Beatles has begun. As Paul McCartney and his band Wings prepare for their impending UK tour, trouble strikes at home in the form of a pot bust wherein police seized several marijuana plants growing in the McCartneys’ garden. Let off with a fine much in the same way the Lennons were several years prior, Paul & Linda would feel the ramifications from this for several years to come. John & Yoko, meanwhile, found themselves continuing to drift apart following the disastrous election night mishap of the year prior. As Yoko prepared her latest album for release, news of a marriage on the rocks began to seep into the press, and the once-inseparable couple looked ahead to an uncertain future. While trouble may have plagued Lennon and McCartney in the early weeks of 1973, George and Ringo were immersed in musical productivity. Work on the Living in the Material World album continued, amidst George scoring the coveted Record of the Year Grammy Award for The Concert for Bangladesh. Ringo Starr was in the studio in LA, joined by John Lennon, a band of all-star players and producer Richard Perry, working on an album of new pop material that was downright startling in quality... Despite the breakup of The Beatles, or perhaps because of it, 1970 was one of the single most creatively prolific periods in the lives of its former members.George Harrison’s epic double album sessions were in the final stages of mixing, and this oversized debut would be the kind of jaw-dropping musical statement to his bandmates and the world that he had always deserved. John Lennon was back in the studio recording his own statement, the kind of intensely personal and back-to-basics album that the Get Back project could have only ever dreamed of becoming. Joining John was pal Ringo Starr, whom had just released his second LP of the year: the pure country Beaucoups of Blues. While few could have predicted that Ringo would be the first out of the gate with two solo LPs in the span of a year, the former Beatle whose commercial expectations were sky high remained in his Scotland retreat...but Paul McCartney would not be down for long. Battered in the press and shouldering the blame amongst fans for breaking up the Beatles, Paul struggled to establish his freedom from Allen Klein’s Apple - and the only way to do so would be to sue his former bandmates. As an escape from the madness back home, The McCartneys travelled to New York and began holding auditions for a new musical project. By the waning days of fall, sessions would begin for an all-new Macca LP… See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
I'm always thrilled when I discover where the Beatles found inspiration for their songs. And sometimes that inspiration bordered on infringing other's rights: examples are Harrison getting in trouble for My Sweet Lord vs. She So Fine, Lennon angering Chuck Berry's lawyers over Come Together, and McCartney....... It seems that I don't have an example of McCartney crossing the line when using other people's music; he had some trouble over the the phrase "Ob la di, ob la da", and financially compensated the alleged source. And he clearly paraphrased Chuck Berry's "Back in the USA" in his own "Back in the USSR, but that's about it. McCartney is quite frank about being influenced by a whole range of artists, but - as far as I know - has never been suspected of copying. In fact, McCartney takes great care to avoid accidental copying, as exemplified by his hesitation to release Yesterday: he was afraid that he had heard the melody somewhere. Some time ago, I heard the song "Hey Little Girl" by Professor Longhair. Professor Longhair blended Afro-Cuban rhythms with rhythm and blues. The most explicit is Longhair's Blues Rhumba,' where he overlays a straightforward blues with a clave rhythm. The piano part for the rumba-boogie "Hey Little Girl" employs the 2-3 clave onbeat/offbeat motif. This song has nothing to do with Hello Little Girl, the first song known to be written by Lennon. But it did remind me of McCartney's style of songwriting. I felt there could be some influence of Hey Little Girl on Hey Jude (more than just the Hey"...), but could not pinpoint it exactly. And then I heard the song "My Carnival", on McCartney & Wings re-release of Venus & Mars. The music and melody of My Carnival is an exact copy of Hey Little Girl! In the remix in BDJ's Cellar you can confirm that yourself. Where and how did McCartney pick up this song by the rather obscure Professor Longhair? Henry Roeland "Roy" Byrd (December 19, 1918 – January 30, 1980), better known as Professor Longhair, was a New Orleans blues singer and pianist. Longhair's first recordings were made at the Hi Hat Club, where a rudimentary recording studio was set up. Four sides were issued on the tiny Star Talent label as by Professor Longhair & His Shuffling Hungarians, including Hey little Girl (1949). He is best known for his song "Mardi Gras in New Orleans", which has the same chords and melody as Hey Little Girl. There is evidence that Mardi Gras was actually performed by McCartney (on MoMac's Hidden Tracks Vol.9 and Complete Cold Cuts). McCartney has never played this song in concert. So where did McCartney hear "Mardi Gras in New Orleans"? Wings flew to New Orleans to record their fourth album,“Venus and Mars.” And on Mardi Gras Day, Feb. 11, 1975, the McCartneys waded into the holiday revelry, masking as a pair of clowns. McCartney, asked what musicians he’d heard during his New Orleans 1975 visit, said: “Well, we saw Professor Longhair play. And he’s the greatest. He’s a classic. I love ’em.” Wings recorded “My Carnival” at Sea-Saint the day after Mardi Gras. The song’s piano, rhythm and vocals parallel the music of Professor Longhair's Mardi Gras and Hey Little Girl. Venus and Mars reached No. 1 internationally. The original album did not include “My Carnival.” Was McCartney hesitant because he might have copyright issues? Five years after Professor Longhair’s death, McCartney released “My Carnival” as the B-side of “Spies Like Us,” (title song for a 1985 Chevy Chase- Dan Aykroyd movie). In 1993, Venus And Mars was remastered and reissued on compact disc as part of "The Paul McCartney Collection" series; My Carnival was released as a Bonus Track. So there we have it, clear evidence that McCartney copied others; we have to note that he single’s label says: “Recorded in New Orleans & dedicated to Prof. Longhair”. Now there's an understatement!

In 1989, Paul McCartney hit the road again for the first time in a decade. That same year, the longest running sitcom in US TV history debuted, and like Sir Paul, The Simpsons is still in action today. In addition to the high-calibre talent involved from day one, the show has made frequent references to The Beatles, culminating with three episodes featuring guest appearances by the three ex-Beatles. In this special expanded edition, we hear from writer/producer Jeff Martin, who wrote “Homer’s Barbershop Quartet” (which featured George); and writer/director/show runner David Mirkin, who went to Sussex to record the McCartneys (for “Lisa the Vegetarian”) and experienced something every Beatle fan can only imagine… This is a NEW PHASE SATB episode…. Making his final appearance is our original co-host. Making a cameo in this episode is upcoming guest, Arion Salazar – original bassist with Third Eye Blind and on tour this year with XEB.
