“Marriage is hard, but there is hope. Knowing that we can win and have a fulfilling marriage gives us the hope and determination to fight for what we desire every day. A successful marriage is not easy and requires working hard and giving 100 percent as individuals and as a couple. For two people ready and willing to put in the hard work and effort, having a game plan could change everything.” - The Marriage Game Plan. Marriage is an arena where it's all on the table - your spouse sees the best of you, the worst of you, and everything in between. It's a place of partnership but also a place of refinement. There's no doubt that marriage is hard, but as we heard in the opening quote, it's entirely doable if you have a game plan. My friends George and Tondra Gregory are the authors of the new book The Marriage Game Plan. George and Tondra have been on this podcast many times in the past talking about marriage and I'm excited to talk with them today about their new book. We talk about why a game plan is crucial, how to navigate difficult conversations, how to better communicate, and lots more.Doable Discipleship is a Saddleback Church podcast produced and hosted by Jason Wieland. The ending song was "Make Someone Happy" by Jimmy Durante. I think we'd probably all agree that digital distraction is at an all time high. News from around the world is at our fingertips at a moment's notice. We get real-time updates on, well, everything. We can play any sort of game imaginable anywhere in the world and we can post our own thoughts and musings for anybody to see. Smartphones are truly an incredible innovation, but they come with a cost. Instead of engaging with the world right around us, we engage in a digital world filled with avatars and algorithms. Instead of looking up to God or out to the people directly in front of us, we look down into the screen of a metal rectangle. This past weekend at Saddleback, Pastor Darren Whitehead spoke on his book, The Digital Fast. Darren was kind enough to join this podcast to follow-up on his message. In this conversation we talk about how to fill the gaps in our time if not on our phones, spiritual practices and rhythms, reading the Bible, the difference between Australians and Americans, the calling of a generation to re-engage in the spiritual, and much more.Doable Discipleship is a Saddleback Church podcast produced and hosted by Jason Wieland. Our series on embracing your inner antihero continues with a look at superheroes who definitely don't wear capes: ethical haters. Slate culture writer Scaachi Koul sits down with How To!'s Carvell Wallace for a conversation about the power of haterade—and why “hating up” distinguishes ethical haters from run-of-the-mill, establishment negativity. Today's episode is all about getting grounded and giving you three super practical nutrition reminders we all need right now—especially in this season. With BBQs, vacations, ice cream runs, and all the summer celebrations in full swing, you skipped a lot of workouts, your nutrition didn't reach your standards, you haven't logged a single macro in days. And now you're tempted to just say, “Whatever. I'll start over in the fall.” You don't need a fresh month or a magical reset date to start making choices that support the version of you you want to be. You can choose to recommit right now. Not perfectly. Just intentionally. What I discuss: How To embrace summer without guilt, recommit to goals anytime, enjoy life's moments, and maintain a healthy mindset. How macro counting can help achieve nutrition goals by prioritizing protein and allowing balance and consistency. How to stay motivated and embrace your authentic self with self-love and confidence.   If you loved this episode, you'll also want to tune into episode 461: 7 Tips To Stay On Track For The Rest Of The Summer   If you want more from me, be sure to check out...
