Purchased for $2 million in 2015 by Pharma-Bro Martin Shkreli, the album was seized by the government in 2018 when Shkreli was convicted of securities fraud. The album was auctioned yet again in 2021 by the U.S. Justice Department to the NFT collectors PleasrDAO (Crypto-Bros). The binding original purchasing agreement stipulated that the album could not be commercially exploited until 2103. PleasrDAO, whose stated purpose is to honor "anti-establishment rebels" and wishing to return the music to the people, has been selling shares of the album as NFTs. PleasrDAO has stated that each share of the album sold would reduce the album's release by 88 seconds. Jay really dislikes them.-Louisiana blues artist Michael Juan Nunez blew Michael away at this year's New Orleans Jazz Fest. While the Louisiana Music Factory is currently out of stock (still the greatest record shop on the East Coast, in Michael's opinion), he found his music online and brings it to us today.-In most of Jay's memories, Michael is wearing a Grateful Dead tee shirt, so Jay was extremely excited to catch up with him at beach week this year and talk about his own new obsession. While he wore the tee shirts, and obtained them at Dead shows, Michael's love for the Dead stops there. Wherein Nick is juggling too many things and decides a handful of stories would be fun to share in snippets, it's News with Nick! Coachella begins, theremins are still a thing, Harlem's bringing back the Cultural Festival and we have a date on Kendrick Lamar's new album!Song: Lothar & The Hand People - “Space Hymn”Greg is curious how we should remember the late Art Rupe, a record executive responsible for discovering Little Richard, Sam Cooke & many others, who died last week at the age of 104. Mr. Rupe is credited with bringing Rhythm & Blues to the mainstream, but is also famous for being on the unfair side of a notoriously unfair record deal with Little Richard. It's complicated, but we explore it from different angles and work our way around to something resembling consensus.Song: Danny Elfman - “Simpsons Theme (Live at Coachella 2022)”Last up, Jay was fortunate enough to meetup with our good friend Michael Weddington over the Easter weekend and he came home with three boxes of Michael's old CDs. That means it's time for another round of “Tape Stash”!Songs:Galactic - “Cineramascope”Maggie Koerner - “He Calls Me Mama”Johnny Cash - “Time of the Preacher”

On this episode of Pre Hospital Care Podcast, Eoin and Rich continue their discussion with Nick Brown to tackle the non-technical skills necessary in controlling a tragic and highly emotional scene. In 96% of cardiac arrest cases, the patient doesn’t make it. When that happens, they are not the only patient. Losing a loved one is traumatic and a genuine health risk over time. If we take our oath as clinicians seriously, therefore, we must be well prepared and skilled in not adding any further stress and trauma, as well as set up avenues for ongoing help and support. Dr. Nick Dirks has the pedigree of one of the top educators in the world, and the "battle scars" of someone who's been in the hot seat in higher ed and survived it.  As the 10th chancellor of UC Berkeley, Dr. Dirks saw many victories and faced many challenges during his tenure, all the while ensuring that the students of Berkeley received the top public university education in the US (and arguably the world). UC Berkeley has been the poster child for the best public higher ed has to offer: diverse curricula, 22 Nobel laureates, and a stellar international reputation.  It also has the legacy of student protests over the Vietnam war, anti-apartheid, and most recently the alt-right and ensuing violence.  Hear Dr. Birks' perspectives on how government regulations, rightly or wrongly, have led to higher ed bureaucracy; how universities are being asked to do more with less, especially in the era of less funding for higher ed; and how he dealt with (and how you can to prepare for) “unplanned for events” that could occur on your campus.
