The FTSE 100 has shifted lower as several stocks suffered negative read-across after updates from larger international rivals. Burberry continued its downward momentum after French luxury giant LVMH warned that a slowdown in China had led to lower sales in the second quarter. Meanwhile, tech investment group Scottish Mortgage also fell at the open as Tesla missed its profit guidance while Google owner Alphabet came in under on its YouTube ad revenue estimates. On the other end was Easyjet, which gained altitude on the back of third-quarter results. Profits rose 16% and summer bookings impressed after Ryanair's warning this week. Also rising was Reckitt Benckiser after it announced a sweeping reorganisation of its business that will see it dispose of ‘non-core' brands. The fast-moving consumer goods conglomerate plans to get rid of Air Wick, Mortein, Calgon, Cillit Bang and other non-core products from its home care range. In mid-caps, Aston Martin Lagonda rallied after reiterating full-year guidance despite reporting lower sales and larger losses in the second quarter. #proactiveinvestors #marketreport #ftse #ftse100 #footsie #easyjet #ryanair #alphabet #youtube #scottishmortgage #google #burberry #lvmh #reckittbeckiser #astonmartinlagonda #astinmartin #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

2020 has been a very strange year so far, don't you think so? One might even beg to rewind this year and go back to the previous one. So let's remember, what an amazing year 2019 was. And it truly was, as 2019 was full of mind-boggling discoveries and scientific breakthroughs. Some of the discoveries were so unexpected that it's hard to believe they actually happened. For example, scientists found out that if people started having 6 fingers, the brains would easily adapt to it. Also, in 2019 a group of scientists grew human taste cells in a lab, they actually discovered those had an ability to smell, just like our noses. Meanwhile, outside of our planet some unusual things happened as well. The supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way Galaxy lit up twice as brightly as usual. What a bright year indeed! London's FTSE 100 has edged higher after several companies posted better-than-expected results. Clothing retailer Next kept with its tradition of under-promising and overdelivering after its first-quarter sales came in stronger than previously forecast. Despite the sales beat, second-quarter revenues are expected to slip, meaning full-year guidance has been maintained for the time being. GSK also beat its first-quarter guidance, with both sales and profits coming in higher than analysts had forecast. However, unlike Next, the pharma giant now expects stronger operating profits and earnings per share growth in the full year. GSK-listed spin-off Haleon also reported its first quarter results this morning, but with sales slowing due to currency headwinds, it was not in a position to tweak guidance higher. Similarly, Aston Martin Lagonda also kept its guidance the same after its revenues dropped by a double-digit percentage and its underlying earnings tumbled 34%. In macro news, markets will likely keep attention fixed on the US tonight, as the Federal Reserve looks to decide on whether to begin cutting or maintain interest rates. #proactiveinvestors #marketreport #ftse #ftse100 #footsie #gsk #next #haleon #astonmartin #fed #federalreserve #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

In the recent earnings call held on Wednesday, February 28th 2024, Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings highlighted their financial performance, product advancements, and alignment with consumer trends. During the call, the company's CEO, Lawrence Stroll, reported that the introduction of DB12 saw unparalleled success, stating, "DB12 got off to the greatest launch that we've ever had in our 111-year history with thousands of customer orders before anyone ever saw or touched the car." The success was attributed to the initial launch in the south of France before the Monaco Grand Prix. The company's performance can be traced back to its bolstered product portfolio, featuring new models including the DB12, Vantage, and DBS770 Ultimate. These models have reportedly refreshed the brand and contributed to increased sales. Stroll confirmed on the earnings call, the DB12 is now in full production. Aston Martin has recognized contemporary trends for personalized experiences by introducing its bespoke division, "Q by Aston Martin". This personalization options reported on the earnings call has helped drive options revenue and facilitated adaptation to individual customer demands. Increased brand visibility and consumer reception, due to marketing initiatives like participation in Formula One, were acknowledged in the earnings call as key components in attracting potential customers and boosting interest in the brand. Keeping abreast of consumer preferences towards plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and eventual transitioning to fully electric vehicles (BEV), Aston Martin confirmed investment plans in electric vehicle programs and partnerships. Acknowledged on the call, this includes a partnership with Lucid Group, aiming for positive cash flow generation by the second half of 2024 and targeting a range of electric sports cars and SUVs for their lineup by 2030. Looking to the future, Aston Martin has plans for product launches including a flagship sports car and a mid-engine hybrid supercar named Valhalla. Discussed in the earnings call, the company has plans to expand its ultra-luxury retail strategy, with potential new showrooms in locations such as Tokyo and London. In conclusion, the latest earnings call from Aston Martin presents a portrayal of a company that is performing well financially, demonstrating a commitment to product innovation, and acknowledging shifting consumer trends. While the company's product strategies, awareness of consumer shifts and investment in future-focused initiatives paint a positive picture, it is important to consider these within the context of the broader industry's challenges and uncertainties. Coches y salpicaderos raros

Recorded live at the 2023 Detroit Concours, with special guest Richard Vaughan! == Click here to join the Hagerty Driver's Club: https://bit.ly/Join-HDC-Cammisa-ICONS == This week, Jason and Derek travel to Detroit to check out the Detroit Concours d'Elegance — and of course Jason's first move is to go over to the RADWOOD-Era cars! There's an Alpine V6 Turbo that immediately captures his attention — and then he's distracted with a Ford Raptor-swapped Delorean with 450 hp and a six-speed manual. On closer inspection, and after instruction from Hyphen, there are other fabulous cars. For example, an incredible one-of-400 Series 70 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Broughams, a pillarless, hand-built hardtop coupe with a stainless-steel roof that cost more than a Rolls-Royce. And a Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, one of the most valuable Ferraris ever. But the true highlight of the episode is a conversation with Richard Vaughan, Jason's longtime friend and storied designer. Richard started his career by designing the original Lincoln Navigator, and most recently worked on the Rivian R1T's interior. But the coolest part about him is his cars: he owns an original Aston Martin Lagonda sedan, several Bentleys and Rolls-Royces, and of course a Sacco-era Mercedes W124 300CE Coupe in Smoke Silver. In the US, the S&P 500 closed 1.9% higher for the week, regaining some of ground lost through February where it declined by 2.6%. There were a number of important economic reports in the week, however their mixed nature meant there was a lack of noteworthy catalysts for performance. The Institute for Supply Management's (ISM) manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) came in higher in February at 47.7 (previously 47.4) and was slightly ahead of median forecasts of 47.6. It does, however, remain in contraction territory, as levels below 50 indicate slowing activity. The ISM's services PMI fell slightly to 55.1 (previously 55.2), but came in above median forecasts of 54.3 and remains in modest expansion. The most surprising data point of the week was the 8.1% jump in pending home sales in January (previous month 1.1%), far ahead of median forecasts of 0.9%. Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the National Association of Realtors' attributed the jump to the dip in mortgage rates over the new year and indicated that "home sales activity looks to be bottoming out in the first quarter."Stocks featured:Aston Martin Lagonda, Persimmon and RightmoveTo find out more about the investment management services offered by Walker Crips, please visit our website:https://www.walkercrips.co.uk/This podcast is intended to be Walker Crips Investment Management's own commentary on markets. A mí me encanta y me parece precioso… 6. Aston Martin Lagonda (1976): ¿Fiabilidad? 10. Chrysler TC by Maserati (1988): ¡No te compliques!

Dan Balmer's current role is President, Aston Martin Lagonda, UK Middle East and AfricaI am excited and proud to share Dan's career journey so far with you. Dan's story is wonderful in so many ways. He is one of those very lucky people who knew what he wanted to do from an early age and so with that focus and through hard work he has been able to pursue his entire career in the automotive world. That has meant that he has covered an incredible amount of ground, both in terms of the roles and brands he's been involved in (Rover, Land Rover, BMW, MINI, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin) but also geographically. The extent of his experience is amplified by its depth and breadth. He has been involved at a granular level in vehicle design engineering and at a senior strategic level with global responsibility for marketing and regional responsibility for sales. You will quickly, I'm sure, get the sense that he is passionate about our industry. He demonstrates humility. His confidence is genuine, built on years of being exposed to so many fascinating situations that have taught him so much. I hope that by listening to our conversation and maybe discussing with your colleagues and mentors, you will also be able to learn valuable lessons from Dan's experiences. Show #493   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 6th June 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   New Patreon Supporters! Firstly welcome to PRODUCER Christian Marler. And we have a new EXECUTIVE PRODUCER Pontus Kindblad.   ASTON MARTIN TO DISPLAY RAPIDE E AT FULLY CHARGED LIVE "Aston Martin confirmed its presence at the upcoming Fully Charged Live event (7-9 June) at the Silverstone Wing complex, with the presentation of the Aston Martin Rapide E for the very first time in the UK." reports InsideEVs: "That not the only good news, as the Rapide E will be joined by the 1970 DB6 Volante mk2 EV, shown by Fully Charged a few months ago, converted to electric drive by Aston Martin Works"   Aston Martin Vehicle Line Director John Caress said:   “We showcased Rapide E for the first time in Shanghai and we proved what Rapide E can do on the track in Monaco. However, I am now incredibly pleased to be able to display Aston Martin’s first all-electric model here in the UK for the first time this weekend at Fully Charged Live. This event not only highlights the level of interest in alternative technologies within the automotive industry, but also across a broader spectrum, and Rapide E embodies our interpretation of how a luxury sportscar can fit within that world. Electrification is key to Aston Martin Lagonda’s future and we look forward to showcasing the luxury brand’s first step in this direction”.   range of more than 200 miles (320 km) under WLTP cycle 65 kWh battery (5,600 lithium-ion cells – 18650 type) rear-wheel drive with two motors total system output of 450 kW (604 bhp / 612 PS) and 950Nm (700 lb-ft) 0-60 mph (nearly 100 km/h) in less than 4 seconds 50-70 mph in 1.5 seconds top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) 800 V system voltage with capability to charge at 100 kW or more 3 h recharge using on-board charger   https://insideevs.com/news/353275/aston-martin-rapide-e-fully-charged-live/   WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED BETWEEN RENAULT AND FIAT CHRYSLER? "The grand merger plan between Renault and Fiat Chrysler, just barely a week old, completely fell apart yesterday evening. It really did come out of nowhere – everything was great and awesome until suddenly everyone put out statements saying the deal was completely dead." says Jalopnik: "But who the hell killed it depends on who you ask. Here’s the Wall Street Journal, with an account blaming increasingly spiteful Renault partner Nissan: With Nissan representatives prepared to abstain if Renault’s board took a vote, the French government asked for more time so that Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire could use an upcoming visit to Japan to press the case for a merger with the Japanese, according to a French official.   Complicating the consummation of the deal was the two-decade partnership between Renault and Nissan in which they, along with Mitsubishi Motors Corp., share technology and vehicle parts. Renault owns 43.4% of Nissan, while Nissan owns 15% of Renault.   People close to Fiat Chrysler and Renault said for the merger to succeed it needed Nissan’s buy-in, in part because the Japanese company co-owns some of the intellectual property that underpins the alliance."   Or was it neither Nissan nor Renault, but actually the state of France itself? Here’s Reuters:   The French government, which has a 15% stake in Renault, had welcomed the merger plan, but overplayed its hand by pushing for a series of guarantees and concessions that eventually exhausted the patience of FCA, sources familiar with the talks said.   Wrong-footed by FCA’s decision to withdraw its merger proposal late on Wednesday, a French official called FCA Chairman John Elkann early on Thursday to see if he might reconsider, but was rebuffed, one of the sources said.   https://jalopnik.com/what-the-hell-happened-between-renault-and-fiat-chrysle-1835295448   RIVIAN R1T AND R1S WILL FEATURE VEHICLE-TO-VEHICLE CHARGING "Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe recently shared some new insights about the R1T pickup truck and the R1S SUV in an interview with auto publication The Drive. During his interview, Scaringe discussed Rivian’s battery technology" writes Simon from Teslarati: "Scaringe noted that the company is preparing solutions that will enable drivers to recharge their vehicles off the grid, such as auxiliary battery packs. The CEO also added that the company would allow vehicle-to-vehicle charging, allowing two Rivians to charge each other. “We’ve designed the vehicle so you can have auxiliary battery packs. You can also charge Rivian-to-Rivian, which is a neat thing. You connect the two vehicles, and then I could hand you some electrons,” Scaringe said."   https://www.teslarati.com/rivian-r1t-r1s-vehicle-to-vehicle-charging/   TOYOTA AND SUBARU AGREE TO JOINTLY DEVELOP BEV-DEDICATED PLATFORM AND BEV SUV Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) and Subaru Corporation (Subaru) disclosed today that they have agreed to jointly develop a platform dedicated to battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for midsize and large passenger vehicles and to jointly develop a C-segment-class BEV SUV model for sale under each company's own brand. By combining their respective strengths, such as the all-wheel-drive technologies that Subaru has cultivated over many years and the vehicle electrification technologies that Toyota is employing to bring together other companies that share its aspirations, the two companies intend to take up the challenge of creating attractive products with appeal that only BEVs can offer.   https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/28377766.html   MOTOR TREND SAYS TESLA MODEL 3 LONG RANGE AWD IS FASTER THAN YOU THINK Stephen Loveday for InsideEVs says: "We welcome Motor Trend's (MT) first official test review of the Tesla Model 3 Long Range dual motor all-wheel-drive sedan. According to the publication: "It's the fourth-quickest sedan we've ever tested behind the Model S P100D Ludicrous (2.3 seconds to 60 mph), Porsche Panamera (2.8), BMW M5, and Mercedes-AMG E 63 S (tied at 3.0), each one of which is all-wheel drive." MT admits that all-wheel drive has not always been the go-to when it comes to sports cars. It adds extra weight and simply may not be needed in most sports-car-driving situations. However, with instant all-electric torque, superb traction control, and excellent road grip, it can be a desirable option, "especially for heavier cars."   https://insideevs.com/reviews/353342/tesla-model-3-long-range-awd-quick/   VOLKSWAGEN PLANS 36,000 CHARGING POINTS Volkswagen is aiming for a rapid breakthrough for e-mobility and is redoubling its efforts in the field of charging infrastructure. Throughout Europe, the Group will be installing a total of 36,000 charging points by 2025; 11,000 of these are to be developed by the Volkswagen brand. They will be installed at Volkswagen plants and at about 3,000 Volkswagen dealerships in all large towns and cities. With its Group company for charging infrastructure Elli (Electric Life) and its charging service “We Charge”, Volkswagen is also moving into further lucrative business areas connected with charging. All in all, the Group is investing about €250 million at its European locations. At the same time, the Group calls for other measures to take effect rapidly for more charging stations in Germany.   https://www.volkswagenag.com/en/news/2019/06/36,000_charging_points_for_electric_cars.html   Question of the Week.   COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. Show #470   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Monday 13th May 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I could find today to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   TESLA MODEL Y PRODUCTION WILL CREATE A BATTERY SHORTAGE "Tesla’s main battery supplier and partner in Gigafactory 1 says that the start of Model Y production next year will result in a battery cell shortage at the factory." according to an Electrek article today: "During Panasonic’s latest earnings report, CEO Kazuhiro Tsuga said that they plan to ramp up to the full 35 GWh this year. After that, the CEO said that they need to talk to Tesla. He said that there’s currently not enough capacity to supply Tesla’s expanding business and especially the upcoming production of the Model Y"   He said "“Batteries will run out if Tesla starts to sell the Model Y and expands its business next year. What will we do then? It’s one of a few topics to discuss with Tesla, including battery [production] in China.”   User jpo234: "Panasonic is losing money from their GF1 investment. They are tightening the screws to get a better deal from Tesla."   User ben says: "Tesla is known for bringing manufacturing in-house. If Panasonic has not performed to musks exacting standards, they're out on future expansions of GF1. Tesla will do it themselves, with new tech (Maxwell) that will be more dense boosting gigafactories theoretical capacity above 135 GW/yr."   https://electrek.co/2019/05/13/tesla-model-y-production-battery-shortage-panasonic/   TESLA OWNERS MAY BE ABLE TO OPT FOR A THIRD-PARTY EXTENDED WARRANTY "As the Tesla fleet grows (and ages), it's helpful to know there are additional options (just in case) to care for an out-of-warranty Model 3, Model S, Model X or Roadster. It turns out that X-Care EV Protection is now offering the nation’s first third-party extended warranty for Tesla owners." says InsideEVs.com today: "X-Care is meant to mirror Tesla’s own extended service agreement it offers customers – it covers nearly everything the automaker’s extended warranty does. While Tesla restricts its own coverage exclusively to customers who buy Tesla vehicles from the automaker, X-Care can be offered by any auto retailer and can be used to cover any Tesla. The warranty, provided by Xcelerate Auto, also fills a gap left open by traditional providers in the industry, who have been reluctant to cover electric vehicles. Without decades of data regarding reliability and repair costs, other companies have interpreted the electric vehicles as too big of a risk."   https://insideevs.com/news/349254/tesla-third-party-extended-warranty/   CEO OF HONDA OUTLINES NEW CHALLENGES Honda Motor Co.’s president and CEO Takahiro Hachigo recently spoke about two of the automaker’s management challenges it will be tackling going forward to meet the rapid changes happening in the global automotive industry. In terms of electrification, Honda is still on track to reach its goal to electrify two-thirds of its global automobile unit sales by 2030. "At Honda, in light of the required infrastructure and how people use automobiles, we believe that hybrid technology is, at this moment, the most effective way for us to comply with CAFE standards. Therefore, we will electrify our products mainly with hybrid technologies. By increasing sales of our hybrid models all around the world, Honda will contribute to the global environment through the improvement of fuel economy.”"   ASTON MARTIN’S FIRST EV MAKES DYNAMIC DEBUT AT MONACO EPRIX "Aston Martin chose the Formula E Monaco ePrix as the setting to provide its first all-electric model its dynamic debut." says carkeys.co.uk: "Piloted by Aston Martin works driver Darren Turner, the model took part in two on-track sessions throughout the day. The twin rear-mounted electric motors produce 604bhp and 950Nm of torque, which makes the new electric Aston Martin the quickest version of the Rapide ever made, and even more so than the 6.0-litre V12 that typically lies underneath the model’s bonnet. Just 155 Rapide Es are being built, as the luxury saloon’s production run draws to a close, as Aston Martin begins to develop its Lagonda brand, which is set to be the firm’s electric subsidiary. Production of the model will start later in the year at Aston Martin Lagonda’s new production facility in St Athan, Wales."   https://www.carkeys.co.uk/news/aston-martin-s-first-ev-makes-dynamic-debut-at-monaco-eprix   HYDROGEN FUEL CELL VS. BATTERY ELECTRIC CARS: WHICH ARE BETTER? "While electric cars appear to have the edge in today’s environment, a number of manufacturers are still committed to hydrogen fuel cell cars - meaning that the technology may one day find its place in the motoring world. Green technology news site CleanTechnica claims that hydrogen fuel cell cars are “several years behind battery electric vehicles in terms of innovation”, which is why they’re so expensive to own and run." report The Week: "Given enough time and money, hydrogen vehicles may become the more accessible option for “our kids or grandkids”, the website says. But electric cars are evolving at a rapid rate, too, and more environmentally-friendly battery options may open up in the future.  For now, though, electric cars appear to be the go-to mode of transport for those looking to do their part in cutting emissions."   https://www.theweek.co.uk/electric-cars/101196/hydrogen-fuel-cell-vs-battery-electric-cars-which-are-better   NORWEGIAN AUDI E-TRON CUSTOMERS DELAYED AND FINED "As the delivery rollout of the Audi e-tron begins, reservation holders in Norway have begun to complain about the additional delays that they are facing. One customer attempted to cancel his order, for which he was presented with a fine for breaking contract." says electrive.com: "The customer who reported the fine, had initially been incensed about an additional 6 month waiting period, on top of the existing delay. When he then attempted to cancel his reservation, he was told that to do so, he would have to pay 8% of the value of the vehicle for the inconvenience. Depending on the model variant chosen, this would be a price between $5,920 and $6,800."   https://www.electrive.com/2019/05/13/audi-e-tron-customers-delayed-and-fined/   VW: HOW ELECTRIC ROADS WORK Zero carbon footprint, quieter vehicles, good driveability and no exhaust emissions. Continuous charging along electric roads has huge potential for heavy transport. On a busy highway, a truck with trailer is approaching a long section with pylons on the right side. The vehicle’s sensor detects that the traffic lane is now equipped with an electric contact line, and the driver pushes a button to raise a pantograph fitted on the cab’s roof. Within seconds, the cab turns almost completely silent: the combustion engine has stopped, and the electrical motor now powers the vehicle.   This is how it works: Finding the eHighway A sensor checks whether the traffic lane is equipped with a contact line. Until now the truck has been powered by the combustion engine. Now, the driver raises the pantograph. Connects to the contact line When connected, the pantograph transfers the energy directly to the electric motor, simultaneously charging the battery. During braking, electricity is generated as the flow of energy is reversed, charging the on-board battery. Disconnects when overtaking   When the truck is overtaking or is at the end of an electrified section, the pantograph lowers itself. The electrical motor continues to run on battery power for as long as possible. After overtaking the driver can return to the eHighway.   SHELL BUILDS HPCS IN GERMANY "Shell is starting to build high power chargers at its gas stations in Germany. This year, the oil company plans to build 50 charging stations across the country, with a total of 100 charging points and a capacity of at least 150 kilowatts. Further charging stations are to follow." according to electrive: "Shell has brought EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg, an utility in Germany’s south, on board as a partner for the charging network initiative. They plan to install high power charging stations with CCS, CHAdeMO and an AC connection (type 2), which will each provide up to 150 kW for up to two vehicles charging simultaneously and up to 300 kW when only one car is charging. According to the media reports, locations in Cologne, Oberhausen and Munich are planned"   https://www.electrive.com/2019/05/13/shell-to-build-50-hpcs-before-the-year-is-out/   DAIMLER'S NEXT CEO WILL PUSH ALLIANCES TO CUT COSTS "Daimler will cut development costs of new Mercedes-Benz cars by a significant amount by 2025 and will intensify alliances with rivals as a way to improve margins, Ola Kaellenius, the future chief executive, said on Monday." reports Autoblog today: ""The cost structure of the electric car is above that of the combustion engine car. We are working hard on lowering this," Kaellenius, who is due to take over from Dieter Zetsche after the company's annual general meeting on May 22, said. Daimler is also relying on increasing economies of scale for electric car batteries as a way to drive down costs. It is also working to cut the use of expensive raw materials from electric car batteries.
