Francois mentioned Bob Proctor going into a bar and announcing he was never coming back.I had a similar experience in PNG when I realised that the men sitting at the bar talking about the ‘good old day's' were just stuck and it wasn't who I wanted to be associated with.So the message is to surround yourself with good people. This session of the radio show shares my conversation with Paula Lupien, Coach of the FHS Gymnastics team conducted on April 5, 2022. Paula was announced in Dec 2021 as the Winner of the MIAA Coach of the Year award. We decided to wait until her season was complete (and what a season it was) to have this conversation. We talk about how she came into the role as coach after advocating to create a team, and how she has developed the program to be undefeated for 2 seasons in the Hockomock League, win the Sectionals this year, take 2nd in the State and then 1st at New England. What does the team do from here? It may be something of a building opportunity but the team is positioned to do good things next year and going forward. The recording runs about 38 minutes, so let's listen to my conversation with Paula on April 5, 2022. -------------- Hockomock All-star selections https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/03/rudolph-named-mvp-leads-multiple-fhs.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/03/rudolph-named-mvp-leads-multiple-fhs.html) D1 New England Champions https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/03/fhs-gymnastics-team-d1-new-england.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/03/fhs-gymnastics-team-d1-new-england.html) 2nd place at MA State meet https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/03/fhs-gymnastics-take-2nd-place-in-miaa.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/03/fhs-gymnastics-take-2nd-place-in-miaa.html) 1st Place at South Sectionals https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-gymnastics-take-first-in-d1-south.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-gymnastics-take-first-in-d1-south.html) State individual meet performances https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-gymnastics-performances-from-state.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-gymnastics-performances-from-state.html) Emma White 2nd in All around https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-emma-white-takes-2nd-in-all-around.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-emma-white-takes-2nd-in-all-around.html) 1st place at Hockomock Championships https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-gymnastics-team-takes-1st-place-at.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2022/02/fhs-gymnastics-team-takes-1st-place-at.html) Coach of Year - MIAA for Gymnastics https://www.franklinmatters.org/2021/12/paula-lupien-named-2020-2021-miaa.html (https://www.franklinmatters.org/2021/12/paula-lupien-named-2020-2021-miaa.html) -------------- We are now producing this in collaboration with http://www.franklin.tv/ (Franklin.TV) and Franklin Public Radio (http://www.wfpr.fm/ (wfpr.fm)) or 102.9 on the Franklin area radio dial. “It was nice to be included,” says Lupien. “I recognized a lot of names on there and some folks whose work I've been following for years.“Mass Timber is an umbrella term for a variety of engineered wood building construction materials. And typically, these are panelized materials and they're really large. Imagine a big beam made of layers of 2x4s laminated together in the shape of a steel I-beam so that you could use that instead of a steel I-beam in a large building. Or imagine a large panel, like a wall or a floor that's made of layers of 2x4s or 2x6s in opposing layers, stacked in layers that are in the opposite direction of one another. That's called cross-laminated timber. And you can drop that in to create a wall or a floor. So, these are big materials that are typically used in larger buildings.” Why is Mass Timber a good fit for construction, like at the MSU STEM Teaching and Learning Facility that uses it extensively and has won many awards?“The Michigan State University STEM Teaching and Learning facility opened in July, and it's the first building in Michigan to use mass timber for its structural system. The STEM Facility uses two types of mass timber. One is glue-laminated timber. Those are typically beams and columns. People who like buildings and know buildings will know that glue-laminated timber columns and beams aren't really new. They've been in use for a few decades here in the United States. And the building also uses cross-laminated timber, which are those big panels that I was talking about. And that's a newer technology that's just starting to emerge in North America.“People are excited about mass timber for a variety of reasons, but the main driver behind the interest is the sustainability benefits of building with big wood in combination in hybrid models like we did in the STEM Facility with materials like steel or concrete, which are more historically or typically used in large buildings.“Mass timber is great because to produce mass timber and transport mass timber typically emits less carbon than other types of building materials. Wood is a renewable material; it's a renewable resource. You're not using a finite resource. So, that's a more sustainable way of building as well. But the thing that I think is powerful about mass timber in addition to those features is how trees work. In a forest, trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during photosynthesis. They take in that carbon dioxide. As we know, they emit oxygen, which we breathe. But they take in that carbon dioxide as gas and then they store it in their trunks, in their branches, in their roots, and ultimately, in the soil as carbon.“While that carbon is stored in the trees, it's not being emitted into the atmosphere. We know that carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere warms the atmosphere contributing to global climate change. There are many other types of greenhouse gases that also contribute to climate change. Methane being one that we hear a lot about as well. And methane is admitted by trees when they are dying and decomposing in the forest. So, when you have trees storing carbon in the forest, that's a very important benefit of forests. It helps to contain that carbon by either delaying it or preventing it from going back in the atmosphere at a rapid pace, which is what we want to avoid to curb climate emissions.“When you cut a tree and you use it in a long-lived durable product like mass timber, which can last for 50, 100, 150 years in a building, you're storing a significant amount of carbon that tree in the forest has sequestered, absorbed, and stored. You're storing that carbon in the building, further delaying the amount of time before that carbon would go into the atmosphere. So, you're really helping your buildings to become centers of carbon storage. And other materials such as steel and concrete, of course, don't store carbon. They don't have a carbon storage capacity.”Lupien talks about how MSU is leading in the research and application of mass timber and about how a growing and evolving mass timber industry can impact Michigan's economy.“Mass Timber@MSU is funded in large part by Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Both of those agencies are very interested in advancing mass timber in Michigan in large part because they see significant potential opportunities for rural-forested communities to revive some forest economies that have been a little bit tired for many reasons in recent years, maybe creating some new opportunities in milling, some new opportunities in kilning, and, of course, new opportunities in manufacture of mass timber. On the construction side, there's also the opportunity to train new types of builders. This is a different way of building. We can perhaps develop new types of construction jobs. So, there's a lot of potential economic development opportunities associated with this.“On the manufacturing side, it's important to note that most mass timber in North America is coming from the Pacific Northwest or the Pacific Coast of Canada. Some is coming from Quebec. For example, the mass timber that you'll see if you visit our STEM Teaching and Learning Facility is from black spruce from Quebec. And then some is starting to come from the Southeast United States using yellow pine. The reason for that is that all the mass timber technologies currently certified for use in North America are made from soft wood species like spruce, pine, and fur.“In Michigan, we have about 20 percent soft wood in our forest but about 80 percent hardwood. That's an interesting opportunity for Michigan to think about. How can we use hardwoods in mass timber in North America? Europe has been using hardwoods in mass timber. Can we do it here? From an engineering and structural standpoint, the answer is yes. It just is a matter of doing the research, development, and product certification to make that happen. Our friends at Michigan Tech University have been doing some exciting research along those lines, developing cross-laminated timber using hardwoods. So, we're watching that very carefully.“I think it's exciting to see mass timber in person. We have the first example of mass timber construction right here on MSU's campus. For those interested in visiting the STEM Facility here on MSU's campus, please feel free to reach out to me, Sandra Lupien. My email address is lupiensa@msu.edu. And I will be happy to find a time when you or perhaps a group of your colleagues can come and see the building, or we can do an introduction to mass timber presentation. When people see it, they really understand ‘Oh, this is how it works.' And in addition to the benefits that I mentioned, it's also just very beautiful; it's a nice feeling to be in a building made from wood that's exposed. People love that. The students are really enjoying the building. I think we're going to see more mass timber buildings in Michigan in the coming months and years. And I hope that we'll also realize mass timber manufacturing in Michigan before too long.”MSU Today airs Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 5 a.m. on WKAR News/Talk and Sundays at 8 p.m. on 760 WJR. On today's episode of The Sales Evangelist, we're joined by coach, speaker, and presenter Francois Lupien. From Tae Kwon Do Canadian champion to a top real estate agent to serial entrepreneur, Francois has worn multiple hats and now dedicates himself to helping entrepreneurs increase their net worth and accomplish their goals. Today, he lets us know why sales are important and his approach to doing it right every time. But first, why are sales so important? Nothing happens until a sale is made, regardless of the field. A sale is needed for a business, just like fuel is needed for any car. For the client, you are an essential cog in the wheel. There are many problems and many solutions, but the salesperson's job is to ensure the solution is brought to the problem. As a salesperson, you need to be Sherlock Holmes: inquisitive, curious, and 100% focused on the person in front of you. Genuine interest in the client is your first role. Francois's tips to be excellent in sales: Questions are the answer. If you aren't getting the answers you want, change your questions to get the right answers. Do not make assumptions as a salesperson - you will fail. Ask questions to find out what the prospect wants. The salesperson's job is to serve the people, even if they aren't the perfect fit for the sale. If you remain professional and helpful, they'll be impressed and give referrals to more prospects. Use active listening to figure out what information you need from the prospect. A phrase that brings sales “I can help you with that. It's very common with the people that I deal with. If I can show you how to solve your problem, will you work with me?” His parting advice: His go-to method - describe a scenario and ask the client if the scenario describes them. Never ask to close or make the person join when they're in that stressful environment (AKA when you tell them the price.) After stating the price, link your service back to their end result - exceeding their expectations and future pacing. Once they're back in a yes mentality, move forward and make the sale. One major takeaway? Listen to the people who've been in your situation. Success leaves clues. Don't try to reinvent the wheel and embrace the experience of others. Brittany, 31, would typically describe herself as a "pretty active and energized human," but ever since Daylight Savings Time ended in early November, she's been in a major slump. "Ever since the sun has been setting at 4:50 p.m., it’s been really hard to convince myself to socialize downstairs with my roommates or get out of bed in the morning," Brittany tells Bustle. "It doesn’t help that we’re in the second surge of a pandemic, so with it being darker longer and such, I really just want to sleep until spring." She adds that there's definitely a "mental health aspect" to the exhaustion she's feeling. "Losing the sun earlier is more upsetting because I feel like by the time I am finally ready to get my day started, it's over," Nancy, 33, tells Bustle. "It feels like I'm trapped in a loop." A quick scroll of the timeline suggests Brittany and Nancy aren't the only people feeling this way. "Wtf did they put in this daylight savings??? NyQuil????" Twitter user JaiVibez tweeted on Nov. 21 — a full 20 days after the clocks were turned back. Thousands of replies and quote Tweets echo the feeling of wanting to go to bed the second the sun sets. Despite having weeks to adjust to the hour time change, people are feeling totally out of it, even when they've gone through Daylight Savings Time ending many times before. What gives? The first half of 2020 was, according to neuroscientist Sara Isbell, CEO and co-founder of Mercaptor Discoveries, "the biggest change to the world's social rhythm." Couple that with the second wave of the virus and daylight savings time ending has created an even greater sense of disorientation. Basically, without your pre-2020 rhythms, you experience time differently. "In the week between two of your Zoom meetings, your mental clock is counting fewer ticks than normal, making time seem like it’s flying by," Craig Callender Ph.D, a professor of philosophy at UC San Diego, previously told Bustle; in a typical year, we'd have many more meetings, lunches, dates, or other events to mark the passage of time, making it feel slower. But what does that have to do with why this month has totally thrown off our daily cycles? Psychologist S. Mason Garrison tells Bustle that the brain hormone cortisol might also be responsible. "I wouldn't be surprised cortisol levels are entirely out of whack," Garrison says. "Cortisol is a stress hormone that also regulates some of the body's natural cycles, like sleep. And when we are in a constant state of stress those levels become elevated," she explains. Garrison adds that there's actually research that shows that time perception is linked with cortisol production. A 2015 study published in the Journal Biological Psychology suggested that changes in cortisol levels were associated with balanced and imbalanced perceptions of time, meaning, basically, that stress can make you understand time in different ways. Throw in the fact that this year has been unprecedentedly stressful, and it's no wonder you're ready for bed as soon as you close Zoom for the day. Isbell suggests that people who experience Seasonal Affective Disorder may be particularly vulnerable to this sensation, especially because physical touch is harder to come by during the pandemic. "Touching someone releases serotonin," she says. Lacking serotonin — a "feel good" hormone — and otherwise feeling down "coupled with the change it causes to our perception and sense of time — leaves many feeling lost," Isbell says. If this winter is totally throwing your rhythms off, making minor adjustments to your schedule, like starting your day earlier, can help you add some extra hours of sunlight. Nancy tells Bustle that though she's "not a morning person," forcing herself to wake up with the sun to make up for what's lost in the afternoon "definitely helps." Seeking a therapist's support can also help relieve some of the stress that may be throwing your rhythms off. But know, too, that the days start getting lighter again in just a few weeks, and Daylight Savings Time comes back March 14, 2021. In the battle to defeat cancer, award-winning UHN researcher Dr. Mathieu Lupien is a modern-day version of the Bletchley Park World War Two codebreakers. Dr. Lupien searches the human genome, trying to crack the origin of how and why cancer starts. He knows deciphering that enigmatic code is one of the keys that will lead to a cure for cancer. He explains how the human genome is like a road map to the inner workings of what makes us, well, us—and the many ways cancer disrupts that journey, and why researchers are now looking at so-called “junk DNA” for the source to cancer’s origins.Dr. Lupien also talks about the Terry Fox loonie he carries in his pocket at all times as a reminder of the commitment and importance of the work done in his lab, how a line in a TV show he watched as a child in Quebec has fuelled his research career,” and his advice for kids who want to go into science.
One of the most important roles of boys' schools is to foster meaningful connections in our communities. The engaging Sonia Lupien builds on the conversation by explaining on the scientific impact of stress on children and teenagers. She highlights ways schools and teachers can ameliorate the impact of stress in boys' lives. Lupien speaks about the power of meaningful relationships, recognition of individual talents, the signs of stress responses in students, stress response and gender, and losing mobilized energy. Ned Hallowell, an expert in treating ADHD and dyslexia, describes what he means when he says, “I don't treat disabilities, I help unwrap gifts.” The Harvard-trained psychiatrist offers his advice for teacher of boys as they engage with boys who face challenges. Vuodenvaihteessa alkaa kaupallisessa radiotoiminnassa uusi vaihe, kun kymmenen vuoden radioluvat astuvat voimaan. Suomessa luvat on jaettu ns. kauneuskilpailussa, mutta olisiko huutokauppa parempi vaihto?

Your Parenting Mojo - Respectful, research-based parenting ideas to help kids thrive
I’m afraid this is an episode I wish I didn’t have to record. When I launched the podcast I asked anyone who has a question about parenting or child development that I might be able to answer by reviewing the scientific literature to reach out and let me know, and someone got in touch to ask about the impact of domestic violence on children. I was a little hesitant to do an episode on it at first because I was hoping that this would be something that wouldn’t really affect the majority of my audience. But as I did a search of the literature I found that domestic violence is depressingly common and more children are exposed to it than we would like. And if you’re getting ready to hit that ‘pause’ button and move on to a different episode, don’t do it yet – there’s also research linking exposure to domestic violence dragging down the test scores of everyone else in that child’s class. So even if you’re not hitting anyone or being hit yourself, this issue probably impacts someone in your child’s class, and thus it impacts your child, and thus it impacts you. Listen on to learn more about the effects of stress in general on children, and the effects of domestic violence in particular. National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800.799.7233. Welcome to Biotechnology Focus Podcast. I’m your host Shawn Lawrence. We kick things off this week with the release of our latest issue of Biotechnology Focus and as such we thought we should give you our listeners a rundown or sneak peak of all the stories you’d see. As most or our listeners know, there are comprehensive changes to the way the Federal Government supports science and innovation in Canada coming with consultations on Canada’s Innovation Agenda drawing to a close and this issue reaches your desk with this Call to Action in mind, beginning with our cover story on the results from our latest Hot Button Issue Survey. The survey was open to everyone in both the private and public sectors and at all organizational levels, from the c-level right on down. In all, 163 of you got back to us with what you’d like to see from the Innovation Agenda. Under the microscope for many of you was one of the biggest sources of government cash for private sector research and innovation in Canada, the Scientific Research and Experimental Development program or SR&ED’s as they are more commonly known. It was interesting to see how many of you rely on this program, and why many of you feel this program needs not only to be maintained but expanded upon. Be sure to check out this and what other priorities were included in our special report. And for further reading on the SR&ED program, Elizabeth Pringle, the National Life Sciences Industry Lead for Ernst & Young LLP’s Business Tax Incentives Practices, discusses recent changes to the program itself while suggesting more alternatives to strengthening the overall tax credit regime for life science companies in Canada, including looking south of the border for some inspiration. Moreover, she highlights some of the recent CRA programs added to help increase tax claim certainty and reduce the administrative burden of applying for SR&EDs including the Pre-Claim Consultation program which launched on June 29 and the Pre-Claim Review (PCR) pilot project which launched August 2. In addition to underlining your priorities that you’d like to get before As most or our listeners know, there are comprehensive changes to the way the Federal Government supports science and innovation in Canada coming with consultations on Canada’s Innovation Agenda drawing to a close and this issue reaches your desk with this Call to Action in mind, beginning with our cover story on the results from our latest Hot Button Issue Survey. In addition to underlining your priorities that you’d like to get before government, this issue also spotlights what makes Canadian biotech great, and highlights some of the areas we can become stronger. It starts with Wayne Schnarr’s roundup piece, “Looking for success stories in Canadian Healthcare.” As he explains, measuring success in Canada’s health technology sector is no easy task, and varies depending on one’s perspective. His article looks at the Canadian biotech landscape from the viewpoint of an investor and reminds us that they judge successful companies differently than government, economic development offices and the companies themselves. With the investors wish list in mind, he highlights some Canadian companies to keep an eye on, including one who is featured later in this podcast Cynapsus. Unfortunately, investors may have missed the boat on that company, but we’ll get to that later. Next in our editorial lineup TO Health’s Ella Korets-Smith, Montreal In Vivo’s Frank Beraud and Teralys Capital’s Cedric Bisson cowritten piece “Canada Poised to be best in the World in Life Sciences Sector” recognizes Canada as a world class biotech hub whose greatest strength is working together to promote our successes in this arena. However, they add that there is still room to grow, and we must begin by looking to other jurisdictions for best practices especially in areas such as venture capital investment. Next, Zymeworks lead man Ali Tehrani, no stranger to success, and perhaps the type of entrepreneur we need to hear more ideas from on how to improve the industry, asks the question why isn’t Canadian biotech with all its great science, visionary entrepreneurs and angel investors, ranked among the best in the world. In addition to posing the question, he endevors to answer it, offering three near and long-term solutions. We have all this and more packed into this issue, so be sure to sign up for our digital edition service to see this issue and past issues as well. Story 2 Our first news story this week is a science story, and features a breast cancer research breakthrough. Specifically, a team of researchers in Canada have discovered that mutations found outside of genes that accumulate in estrogen receptor positive breast tumours throughout their development act as the dominant culprits that drive the disease. The multi-institutional research team collaborated with the Princess Margaret Genomics Centre and Bioinformatics group to analyze changes in the DNA sequence that accumulate in patients’ tumours with respect to the epigenetic identity of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer cells.. The research, published online in Nature Genetics, focuses on the most common type of breast cancer, estrogen receptor positive, and was led by principal investigator Dr. Mathieu Lupien, senior scientist, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network and associate professor in the Department of Medical Biophysics, University of Toronto. His team investigated acquired mutations found outside of genes through the power of epigenetics, and identified that functional regulatory components can be altered to impact the expression of genes to promote breast cancer development. Dr. Lupien discusses the study in the following audio provided by UHN Toronto Dr.Lupien’s research builds on a previous study that identified why 44 known genetic variations increased breast cancer risk (Nature Genetics, Sept. 23, 2012). He adds that the convergence of more knowledge about inherited risk variants and the role of acquired mutations should readily enable translating the science into more precise clinical tests to diagnose and monitor patients. His work was funded by The National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Health, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, the Canadian Institute of Health Research and a Movember Rising Star award from Prostate Cancer Canada. Story 3 Enerkem Inc., a Canadian headquartered waste-to- biofuels and chemicals producer, has obtained certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system and will now be able to begin biomethanol production at its Biofuels full-scale facility in Edmonton,AB. According to the company the third-party certification confirms that Enerkem meets high ecological and social sustainability requirements. Enerkem makes biofuels and renewable chemicals from non-recyclable municipal solid waste. The company owns a full-scale commercial facility in Alberta as well as a demonstration plant and a pilot facility in Quebec. The company is also developing additional biorefineries in North America and globally, based on its modular manufacturing approach. With the certification, the Edmonton biorefinery is now the first ISCC certified plant in the world to convert municipal solid waste into biomethanol. Story 4 In business news, Laval’s ProMetic Life Sciences has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Belleville, Ontario’s Telesta Therapeutics in an all share transaction. By way of a plan of arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act, ProMetic will acquire all of the share capital of Telesta at a share price of $0.14 payable in ProMetic common shares. The number of common shares to be issued by ProMetic will be based on the volume-weighted average closing price (VWAP) of ProMetic’s common shares for the five (5) trading days prior to the closing date of the acquisition. According to ProMetic, the deal gives the company the opportunity for further integration of its manufacturing capabilities and longer term capacity expansion in a 150,000 sq. ft. facility in Belleville, ON. At the same time it gives ProMetic a significant foothold in Ontario, consolidating its presence as a major player in the Canadian market. Completion of the deal is subject to the approval of Telesta’s shareholders and a number of customary closing conditions including court and regulatory approvals (such as the approval of the Toronto Stock Exchange). The acquisition is expected to close in early November, 2016. Story 5 Rapid infectious disease test developer bioLytical Laboratories has filed two patent applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office relating to its multiple colour rapid detection assay systems for the detection of antibodies to pathogens including Zika and other flaviviruses. The two new patent applications are based on the company’s INSTI platform and describe methods and kits allowing either simultaneous or sequential detection of different antibody classes to multiple pathogens using a single sample of blood or blood product. The first patent application describes a method for detecting active or past infection using Zika as an example. The second patent application describes a method for differentiating early from later stages of infection. According to the company, these technology breakthroughs could revolutionize point-of- care rapid assays for detection of acute infections including Zika. The Flaviviridae family has become a major concern in many areas of South America and more recently in the continental U.S. As of early February 2016, the Brazil Ministry of Health has estimated that 500,000 to 1,500,000 cases of Zika virus disease have occurred since the beginning of the outbreak. The company says that with the high degree of cross-reactivity within the flaviviridae family, a diagnostic assay that can rapidly detect and differentiate between them, and determine new vs old infection, is of upmost importance. Story 6 Our final, and perhaps biggest story this week is a Canadian biotech business news story with Marlbourough, MA based-Sunovion Pharmaceuticals announcing that it is buying Toronto’s Cynapsus Therapeutics Inc. for approximately CDN$820 million. The transaction is the biggest the industry has seen in awhile for sure and has already received unanimous approval by the board of directors of both companies and The acquisition will be funded with cash on hand and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016 (third quarter of Sunovion’s fiscal year). Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, and upon closing of the proposed transaction, shareholders of Cynapsus will receive US$40.50 per common share in cash, and holders of warrants and stock options will receive a cash payment equal to the difference between US$40.50 and the exercise price of such warrant or stock option. The offer of US$40.50 per common share in cash represents a premium of 123 per cent based on the volume weighted average closing price of Cynapsus’ common shares on the NASDAQ Global Market for the last twenty trading days. As part of the acquisition, Sunovion is getting Cynapsus’ lead product candidate, APL-130277, a sublingual thin film formulation of apomorphine designed to be an easy-to- use on-demand treatment option for managing OFF episodes associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD), a chronic, progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects more than four million worldwide. One of the biggest benefits of the sublingual thin film delivery of apomorphine is that avoids the normal gastrointestinal route of delivery used by most PD medications. Prior to the deal, Cynapsus had just announced that the Phase 3 clinical program for APL-130277 was nearing completion and that the company had plans to submit a new drug application (NDA) to the FDA in the first half of 2017.Nobuhiko Tamura, chairman and CEO, Sunovion said that his company sees APL-130277 as a novel late-stage candidate with the potential to make a real difference for patients and their families. He adds that Sunovian has high regard for the Cynapsus team led by Anthony Giovinazzo, president and CEO of Cynapsus and the work they have done with the APL-130277 program. For Cynapsus, the deal culminates years of dedicated work, and Anthony J. Giovinazzo, president and CEO, Cynapsus believes Sunovian is the ideal company to take APL-130277 forward. values Cynapsus at approximately CDN$820 million. The transaction will be completed by way of a plan of arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act. The arrangement will require approval of at least two-thirds of the votes cast by Cynapsus shareholders and warrantholders voting together as a single class at a special meeting of such securityholders of Cynapsus. This meeting will be held in October. With that we’ve come to the end of this week’s program. We hope you enjoyed it.
