Welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump has repeatedly made a bombshell proposal: Empty Gaza of its 1.8 million Palestinian residents, resettling them elsewhere in the Arab world and rebuilding the devastated strip. Tony Badran, Tablet Magazine's news editor, joins Liel to explain why Trump's plan is deeply generous, why so many of Washington's self-proclaimed best and brightest have gotten the Middle East wrong for so long, and about why the Abraham Accords are far from the panacea many still believe them to be.
Earlier this week, Israel signed a controversial ceasefire deal with Lebanon, brokered by the Biden administration. Tablet's news editor Tony Badran joins Liel to explain why the deal is the culmination of Barack Obama's anti-Israeli vision for the region, how it might complicate the Trump administration's foreign policy, and what reasons, if any, Israel had for signing such an agreement.

JNS senior contributing editor Caroline Glick speaks with Middle East Analyst Tony Badran about U.S. policy towards the Lebanese Hezbollah terror organization and Israel amidst the ongoing conflict on Israel's northern border.Badran explains that Biden's current policy is based on a completely wrong understanding of what is happening in Lebanon and on a fantasy of a post-Hezbollah Lebanon.Born and raised in Lebanon, Badran will give an inside understanding of the Lebanese dynamics, what the U.S. is getting so terribly wrong and how only a military solution can lead to victory.Stay informed about Israel and the Jewish world!Latest news: Get in-depth analysis at https://bit.ly/jewish_news_serviceSubscribe for more: Never miss a story - sign up for our newsletter: https://bit.ly/subscribe_to_JNSSupport our work: Your donation helps JNS fight for accurate headlines: https://bit.ly/Support_JNS
The conflict in the Middle East isn't about religion, or national aspirations, or any of the wonderfully abstract things us westerners like to dream about: Tony Badran, Tablet's news editor, joins Liel to explain the logic that has governed the Levant since at least the Bronze Age, and argue that Israel now has a historic opportunity to change history by disrupting Iran's imperialist aspirations in the region.
Rocket X Podcast - Chris Badran (CEO of Rocket Bookings)
First, we begin with a presentation of the scope of terrorists, gangbangers, drunk drivers, and child molesters coming over the border. Republicans will never get a better issue and better timing to drive a budget fight, and the way to do it is to cancel the August recess. Meanwhile, as they let terrorists through our border, the Biden administration is collaborating with Hezbollah overseas. We're joined today by Tony Badran, news editor of Tablet magazine, who warns that there is a bipartisan disease in Washington to support funding Lebanon, its military and intel apparatus. This is being used to blind Israel ands restrain them from defending themselves. Badran goes into great detail about the extent of our assets and personnel on the ground, and how this Lebanese grift was strong even under Republican administrations. Tony warns Trump to stay away from people who would expend American capital on our enemies. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

*) Netanyahu reportedly going solo on Gaza talks, defying Mossad Local media has revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is almost alone in steering negotiations on a hostage-prisoner swap deal with Palestinian resistance groups. An Israeli public broadcaster quoting unidentified sources said Netanyahu is alone in conducting the talks and has decided to harden his position related to the discussions. One of the main differences between Mossad and Netanyahu is that the security agencies do not agree on a return to fighting unless Hamas breaches any of the deal terms – contrary to Netanyahu who wants to return to fighting in any case. *) Pakistan secures $7B aid deal with IMF The International Monetary Fund has reached a three-year $7 billion aid package deal with Pakistan. The new programme still needs to be validated by the Fund's Executive Board. But it should enable Pakistan to "cement macroeconomic stability and create conditions for stronger, more inclusive and resilient growth," according to a statement. *) Hamas proposes independent Palestinian government in post-war Gaza Hamas is suggesting that an independent government of non-partisan figures run post-war Gaza and the occupied West Bank, a top member of the Palestinian resistance group has said. Hossam Badran said in a statement that Hamas “proposed that a non-partisan national competency government manage Gaza and the West Bank after the war," Badran added that “the administration of Gaza after the war is a Palestinian internal matter without any external interference.” *) Trump to be anointed at Republican party convention in Wisconsin Donald Trump will receive the Republicans' official blessing to run for president next week. He will become the first ever convicted felon to be a nominee for one of the two major US parties. The 78-year-old billionaire will be the show's star at the Republican National Convention, transforming the Wisconsin city into a fortress to welcome 50,000 attendees. *) X charged with deceiving users via blue checkmark, risks fine: EU Elon Musk's social media company X has breached EU online content rules and its blue checkmark deceives users. This is according to EU tech regulators in a finding that could lead to a hefty fine and significant changes in how it operates The EU executive's preliminary findings or charges sent to X targeted the company's so-called dark patterns that shape user behaviour, its advertising transparency and data access for researchers.

The Biden administration's backroom deals with Iran have made headlines recently, with prisoner swaps and $6 billion payments. This week, Mike Doran hosts Tony Badran, research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. Badran argues that the administration's Lebanon policy sheds light on Biden's shady Iran deals, showing them to part of a broader "backdoor" policy designed to subordinate US-Israel relations to the Iran realignment.

Alex Badran's startup digital platform, Spriggy, was the realisation of his dream to help children learn about better managing money and to help parents improve and streamline the pocketmoney routine inside households. But Spriggy's success from the get-go meant that Alex and his co-founder had to deal with myriad challenges… including how not to go broke. In Part 2 of our chat he reveals how to avoid those treacherous pitfalls as a startup entrepreneur and just how he intends to expand and spend the roughly $50 million already raised from investors.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
When Alex Badran was doing his PhD, he turned down a guaranteed job in Silicon Valley with some of the world's most innovative tech giants, to do his own thing back home in Oz. Who does that? Well, would-be entrepreneur Alex Badran for one. Sounds crazy, right? But Alex Badran did just that. Alex completed a fellowship in Silicon Valley California that basically involved him helping the likes of Netflix, Facebook, LinkedIn, Airbnb to solve their deep technical problems, meanwhile hanging out with their founders and senior execs scooping up whatever experience and learnings he could – but he turned his back on a guaranteed job over there with one of these global behemoths. Alex Badran always intended to return home to Sydney to realise his startup journey. He and a mate Mario Hasanakos had a dream to build something substantial from scratch. And Alex couldn't let that go, even if it was Facebook calling. The pair founded technology company Spriggy in 2015 in Sydney, a platform they call a financial education tool. In short, it's a pocket-money app for kids, all with parental supervision.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On October 12, 2022, Israeli prime minister Yair Lapid approved an agreement with the government of Lebanon to establish maritime borders between the two countries. The deal, brokered by the United States, is important because large fields of natural gas have been discovered under the seabed of the Israel-Lebanon coast—and whichever country controls these fields can reap the financial and energy benefits from them. In some quarters, the establishment of the new borders—without a war being fought, the usual means of fixing borders—is seen as an accomplishment. For those who hold that view, this deal will help stabilize Lebanon and provide it some economic relief. Furthermore, given that Lebanon and Israel are, officially if not currently in fact, still at war, the agreement is seen as evidence of America's power as a mediator in the Middle East. In short, the deal is a diplomatic achievement worth celebrating. This week's podcast guest disagrees. Tony Badran, a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, has argued that Israel has traded away its maritime rights in exchange for the mere hope of regional order, and it makes future conflict between Israel and Hizballah-controlled Lebanon more likely, not less. In conversation with Mosaic editor Jonathan Silver, he discusses the political context within which the Israelis and Lebanese established their maritime borders, why America pushed so hard for the agreement, and why the deal harms Israeli security and boosts Hizballah. Musical selections in this podcast are drawn from the Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, op. 31a, composed by Paul Ben-Haim and performed by the ARC Ensemble.

Sekretariatsleiterin Schweizerischer Gewerkschaftsbund SGB.

Since initiating a war against Israel in 2006, the Shiite revolutionary movement Hizballah has built a massive arsenal of rockets that continues to threaten Israel's northern cities and towns. Hizballah is able to sustain this military posture because it also holds decisive sway in Lebanese politics. Some observers think its political control is waning. In the Lebanese national elections on May 15, Hizballah lost its parliamentary majority, and Reuters reports that there are now “more than a dozen reform-minded newcomers” in the Lebanese parliament. This week's podcast guest takes a different view. Tony Badran is a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, where he writes about the eastern Mediterranean and the Levant. To his eye, the idea of a weakening Hizballah is not only wrong, it's exactly what Hizballah wants outsiders to think. In conversation with Mosaic's editor Jonathan Silver, he explains why it serves Hizballah's interests for Westerners to think that it's weak when it's not—and how even when Hizballah loses seats in Lebanon's parliament, it doesn't lose governing authority. Musical selections in this podcast are drawn from the Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, op. 31a, composed by Paul Ben-Haim and performed by the ARC Ensemble.
