This week I am diverting again from regularly scheduled programming. Instead of sharing another inspiring conversation with one of my special guests (in two weeks it's another a super great one!), a thought came to me as it often does, when I least expect it and in the most unexpected places, which would be TMI! Anyhow, it is one that has to be done now at this time, and I'm in charge so I'm going to do it! And that's all I'm going to say about it, because it's short and to the point, and if I were to write more here, you could have already listened to the episode! See you there?!

Our Bucket List episodes showcase the greatest travel experiences on the planet. Today, we're going to the deserts of Arabia to go stargazing with the Bedouin and learn their secrets of the stars. This episode is about learning to see the stars through the eyes of a people who have lived in the Arabian desert for thousands of years, and whose very existence, and survival,l was shaped by the night sky. Recorded on location in our immersive documentary style, this episode is a chance to hear the Bedouin's stories of the sky. For it is through those stories of love, tragedy and revenge that they passed down the secrets of ancient astronomy. When we look at the night's sky we see fiery distant suns and orbiting planets. When they look at it, they see poetry, and the whole gamut of human experience written into each far off sparkling light. Let's set the scene: We have travelled for two hours into the El Harameal desert, from the oasis town of Alula, in Saudi Arabia, a place that few outsiders have seen before. Blankets and pillows are laid out in the sand, night has fallen, and a young Saudi woman named Badrea begins to speak… FIND OUT MORE If you enjoyed this episode, check out our full documentary series which we recorded on location: the Elements of Alula. Our first three episodes: water, earth and air were out last year. Have you ever thought about where your electricity comes from? Mark McKinney joins host Sal Sama in the podcast room for today's episode of The High Ground powered by Premier Companies. For about 11 years, Mark McKinney has been President and CEO of Jackson County REMC which is a non-profit that is member-owned and provides electricity and other types of services to the southern Indiana region. Mark will share about his career path from a meter man to his current position with the Jackson County REMC and explain how the rural electric membership cooperative serves its membership. You'll learn about REMC's expansion into fiber optic broadband services and how soon they will be able to offer that service to their entire territory. From the terrain challenges to battling dead trees, you'll hear about the difficulties the crews face and how they work proactively to keep the power on. Mark and Sal will cover various types of energy generation including nuclear energy and how that could impact our energy usage. “While we do have to generate margins, that's not the whole focus, to please shareholders. Our focus is to serve our membership.”
Bobby shared what two big things are on his bucket list and what is on everyone else's on the show. Abby wanted to know what Bobby thinks about a tip jar that was spotted at the Post Office in a video online. We played Easy Trivia, can anyone close in on Eddie or will he get a bigger lead on everyone else? In Fun Fact Friday, we learned about a philosopher who played Julia Roberts' hospital bill.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
