George has been in digital advertising since 2009, working on a wide range of platforms including Amazon, Google, Bing, LinkedIn and Facebook. Paid advertising. Using these platforms, he has worked with hundreds of advertisers across the world in numerous industries and sectors to maximize their ROAS. His agency, Clear Ads, now focuses purely on Amazon PPC and DSP advertising, helping deliver the best results for his clients. So with that introduction, welcome to the show, George.George 00:00:38  Thank you so much for having me, Josh. It's a pleasure.Josh 00:00:40  What are some of the what's a checklist that you should kind of go through and walk through to vet an agency that you're looking to have, do DSP for you?George 00:00:48  The first thing is don't go with Amazon. Right. But I'm sure they won't mind me saying this. Right. But actually they will. But I'm going to say anyway, Amazon's core strategy is to get you to spend as much money as possible. That's their KPI because that's how they get promoted.George 00:01:02  Right. So the way they treat your account is they go, hey, look at all these amazing impressions that you've got. Isn't that great? And as I said, you're like, hold on one step. Precious isn't really the key thing for us. Like we're trying to get. We're trying to we're trying to grow our business. Not not just increase our reach. So that's the big thing that they go with, especially with the slight uncertainty with attribution at the moment. It could look to to their favor. Right. That's the first thing. Now second, when you do go to an agency, the first step you should take is go onto Amazon's accredited partners page. Right. And check out DSP providers. So Amazon DSP providers just put stuff on Google. Go onto Amazon's page and there's a list of DSP providers. Right. So what you tend to find if you find any company. Right. If they're if they're if they are an official partner with Amazon, they will tend to have a partner badge somewhere which links straight to that page which shows you, hey, their official partner.George 00:01:58  Now, if they're not an official partner, they might be piggybacking off someone else's suit. Right. You don't want to get into that. Because if they're piggybacking off someone else's seat. Right. Let's just say there's some internal issues and they get kicked out of that seat. They no longer have access to your account. Who do you contact? Yeah. Who do? Who do you reach? You don't know. Right. So you want to make sure you've got someone who's got their own first thing. The second thing is, I'm sure every seller that's listening to this, they're savvy. They have a pool. An audience of other savvy sellers. Speak to them, find out who are they using that's doing DSP. That's working really well. Right. Get their first, first, first glance and say, okay, what's your experience been like? and ensure that they're happy with whoever it is. So they're the steps that I would recommend taking when trying to find a DSP agent. I would even go as far as ask them questions about the business.George 00:02:49  What's the purpose of the business? What are you looking to do? How big is it? How long has it been going? Is it? Is it a brand new business that's business. Me starting up for a bit and might not be there tomorrow. Yeah. Is it one that's been there for a while? Is it, you know, you want to you just want to really find out how many DSP, agents you have. How many of them are certified? how many have taken the exams? I would just do your due diligence. Ask those questions before it's too late, and then before you're stuck with someone.Josh 00:03:16  Yeah, I think that is foundation number one for sure. So I hope our listeners follow those best practices because it's true. You make this decision, and it's not like you could just change course after six months or a year. otherwise you're just starting from ground zero all over again. All right. Now let's jump into these strategies. Let's say you have found the right agency to work with.Josh 00:03:41  What's the first strategy you should be implementing with DSP?George 00:03:45  Yeah. So the first strategy is 100% remarketing. You want to you want it. You want to okay. No, n...

Simple Pin Podcast: Simple ways to boost your business using Pinterest

One of the most common questions I get from my community is, “How do I get my pins seen on Pinterest?” Visibility on Pinterest doesn't just mean more clicks, it can lead to more sales, more email signups, and more traffic overall. Over the years, I've learned that quality content always wins. Without it, even the best strategies can fall flat. Recently, as part of the Pinterest Educator Program, I had the opportunity to meet directly with the Pinterest team to learn exactly what they look for when deciding which pins to show. In this episode, I'm getting really honest about what happens after we give everything to something big: the pre-orders that don't pause, the follow-up emails that get delayed, and that nagging feeling of having overpromised and underdelivered. I'm walking you through why this happens (hint: it's not a planning failure, it's a best-case-scenario problem), and why building in a buffer — for prep days, for big launches, for life in general — might be the single most useful shift you can make this year. This is also a permission-slip episode. Because here's the thing: two things can be true at once. You can be proud of what you built and also be completely wiped out by it. You can need rest and also need to come back before the silence turns into hiding. I'm sharing exactly what got me moving again after two weeks of catching my breath, including the one-small-thing approach that's helped me rebuild momentum without forcing it. When you're in the thick of wedding planning, it can feel like this phase of life will go on forever. But believe it or not, at some point you WILL actually be married, and wedding planning will come to an end (insert cheering emoji / crying emoji here - take your pick!). I see a pretty split reaction to this, with half of us feeling thank universe, the wedding can't come soon enough ... having all that extra brain space back from planning and organizing a million tiny details will be amazing.   On the other hand, there are also plenty of us who absolutely love the engagement and planning phase, and are NOT looking forward to it ending.  Post wedding blues are a real thing, and we're going to talk about that today too. To start today off, I have some post-wedding takeaways and advice from past WPP couples (including myself!).  They share what they loved, and in all honesty, what could have been better. During the second half of today's show, I have an actionable checklist of things that will need to be handled after the wedding.  So if you're sad about it all coming to an end … don't worry - it doesn't actually end, there's still lots more to do! How to Revise Your Novel: Developmental Editor Joel Brigham's Checklist (encore episode!)

Writers With Wrinkles

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 17, 2026 53:46 Transcription Available

Send us Fan MailIn this re-released conversation, developmental editor Joel Brigham returns to talk all things revision: how to approach your first editing pass, the most common pitfalls he sees in drafts, and how to know when a manuscript is truly ready to query. A great refresher as you set your summer writing goals. (Note: a recording glitch cut the original intro, which Beth explains at the top.)What you'll learn in this episodeJoel revises in phases, and phase one is always structure. He looks for the "tent pole" story beats: the inciting incident, the midpoint turn, and the all-hope-is-lost moment, and checks whether they fall where reader expectations and pacing demand. He explains why pantsers tend to have the beats but in the wrong places, and how genre and age level dictate placement (the inciting incident around 8–12% for YA and adult, the romance meet-cute by the end of chapter one).He then walks through a practical self-editing checklist writers can use before paying a professional:Have you hit the major story beats, and are they in the right place?Does every character, including the antagonist and secondary cast, have clear motivation and an arc?Is your character driving the plot through choices and consequences, or just passively reacting? (Joel calls character agency the single biggest difference between a good book and one that isn't ready.)Is there tension in every chapter, even small-scale?Are the stakes clear and high?Have you read your dialogue out loud?Does the book open and close with a bang?Is your word count appropriate for your genre and age level? For kid lit, have you checked readability scores (Lexile, Flesch-Kincaid)?Have you proofread to a pristine, professional standard? And finally, do you feel proud of it? That feeling, Joel says, is often how you know you're close. The episode digs into developing narrative voice, which Joel calls the hardest thing to teach. His advice: read widely, mimic authors you admire until your own voice emerges, write in different mediums, be authentic, seek feedback, and read your work aloud. He shares his own path from imitating Dave Barry and John Green to finding his own style. On story structure red flags, Joel offers a memorable test borrowed from South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone: strong stories connect scenes with "but" or "therefore," not "and then." A string of "and thens" signals missing consequences and a passive protagonist. He also tackles the saggy middle and rushed endings, with concrete fixes for each: introduce a new obstacle, separate inseparable characters, drop a backstory reveal, add a ticking clock, or shift the power dynamic to revive a sagging midpoint. Starting a construction project on the right foot with the owner's representative can pay massive dividends for a contractor. In this episode, host Scott Jennings breaks down the essential early stage actions that set a project up for success.Scott divides these into contract niceties (the administrative and legal safeguards) and nice niceties (the relationship building efforts) that help protect your profits and establish a harmonious workplace.Key Takeaways From This Episode:The Softer Contractual Items: Ensure you get critical financial and operational rates approved within the first 30 days, including your Schedule of Values, equipment rates, labor rates, and insurance rates. The Harder Contractual Items: Protect your business by identifying the true decision maker early, building an extended performance list for your exact daily burn rate, and mapping out strict contract notification timelines. The Nice Niceties: Construction projects are heavily driven by personalities. Learn how humanizing your clients and finding common ground can make tough future negotiations much smoother.Memorable Quote:"You never get a second chance to make a first impression... People like commonality between other people and people like to talk about their own lives, so why not do that? Why not feed them a little bit of happiness? It can make your job and your life a lot easier and a lot more fun."Resources & Links Mentioned:Book Series: Build America book series by Scott Jennings (Available on Amazon)Children's Books: Ted the Termite children's book series by Scott Jennings (Available on Amazon and major book retailers)Website: https://sjcivil.com/Blog: https://sjcivil.com/blog/LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/scott-jennings-p-e-1435103Email: sj@sjcivil.com

When considering the health impact of foods, it is important to consider "compared to what?". Increasing the amount of a certain food or nutrient in the diet, typically implies a displacement of another. While comparisons are more obvious in trials, in epidemiology food substitution models can be useful to help us determine the health effects of increasing/decreasing intake of a food, food group or nutrient. However, these models are often misinterpreted and miscommunicated as if they are a game of "rock, paper, scissors", where one food beats another, and the losing food must be removed from the diet or considered harmful to health. In this episode we discuss the problem of treating substitution analyses as food-ranking contests, rather than context-dependent comparisons shaped by the comparator, the unit of substitution, the baseline diet, and the outcome being studied. Success in the Christian life is not measured by relentless output, but by deep enjoyment and awe of God. The high-performer's journey is to move from striving to abiding, from anxious self-optimization to restful delight. This week, Stephanie challenges us to reconsider our definition of success: Will we dare to let our delight in God, and His delight in us, become our most treasured spiritual possession? Many Christians find themselves exhausted, seeking spirituality through constant effort rather than true joy. In our current series, Awaken Delight, we explore different ways that prevent us from living the reality of Psalm 37:4, Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. This week, we explore the dangers of "high-performance Christianity" and discover the invitation to redefine success by delighting in God rather than striving to impress Him.Our FREE gift to you today! An exclusive 30-day FREE recovery plan to rekindle your delight in God when you are feeling weary and exhausted in your faith: go to https://www.gospelspice.com/awakendelightthepodcast and find the form for Episode 448. Give us your email, and you will receive the full plan in your inbox immediately!Let's be completely honest. Are you…Exhausted by trying to “feel” spiritual?Performing faith without real joy?Feeling unworthy despite consistent effort?Wondering if Psalm 37:4 really works? What if the problem isn't your faith, but the way you've been pursuing God? Delight isn't about effort; it's about learning how to receive God as your deepest joy. This isn't extra joy on Sundays. It's the foundation for deep delight in God which willstrengthen your prayer lifeprovide you with resilient peace, reframe your pain and suffering, transform your obedience into soul-satisfying joy. Many Christians become experts in prayer, service, and discipline but forget the joy of simple communion with God. This mindset measures spiritual health in terms of effort and accomplishment: “Did I pray enough? Did I do enough?”The Dangers:Spiritual Output over Relationship: Faith becomes a checklist of activities rather than a relationship rooted in love and delight.Performance Equals Worth: Feelings of worth rise and fall based on spiritual “productivity.” Rest becomes guilt-ridden and Sabbath feels inefficient.Comparisons and Insecurity: The high-performer compares their visible fruit to others', believing that more impact equals more favor from God.This mindset leads to spiritual dryness. High performers feel relationally undernourished: “Effective for God, but not really deeply at rest in God”. Growth is sought in results, but true spiritual maturity often appears slow, cyclical, and hidden. When setbacks arise, self-worth plummets, and failures feel catastrophic. At its core, this approach makes delight in God seem like a luxury reserved for the less “serious." But Scripture repeatedly calls delight foundational, not optional. "Delight in the Lord" is central — it deepens trust, strengthens endurance, and transforms work into worship. How do we shift from performance to delight? We must reorder our ambitions with God at the center. As Stephanie explains, “Your problem isn't that you're too serious, it's that you're too serious through the lens of a secular operating system”. The calling isn't to do less, but to let delight in God be the fuel, not the reward, of our efforts.Practical Steps:Identity Rooted in God's Delight: Our worth is anchored in God's unshakeable love, not our achievements.Work Flows from Delight: We work, rest, and strive not to prove ourselves, but out of the security that comes from being loved by God.Resilient Obedience: Obedience is rooted in delight, not desperation; failure or success does not shake our identity.Delighting in God is not just an emotion—it is a chosen, steady confidence that allows us to pursue excellence without fear. When rooted in God's love, ambition becomes resilient, setbacks less threatening, and rest becomes restorative. As Stephanie encourages, “Taste and see that the Lord is good”. This call is an invitation into a secure, unshakeable identity and delight —the true measure of success."Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4 isn't a poetic suggestion — it's a promise. But many believers quietly assume it doesn't really work, or it's not really possible here on earth. In Awaken Delight, Stephanie Rousselle invites you to rediscover what Scripture actually means by delight — not emotional hype, not religious performance, but a steady satisfaction rooted in who God is.Delight in God isn't a mood to manufacture; it's a relationship to receive.Through biblical theology and practical rhythms, you'll learn how communion with God reshapes suffering, quiets restless striving, and anchors your identity in something unshakable.Delighting in God isn't sentimental optimism. It's deeply rooted in Christ, Jesus. It's the quiet revolution that reshapes how we endure pain, love others, and understand our own heart.Awaken Delight is a theologically grounded spiritual formation book for thoughtful believers who feel spiritually fatigued and are ready to embrace the reality of Psalm 37:4.More at https://www.gospelspice.com/awakendelight Purchase the book, "Awaken Delight" by Stephanie Rousselle: https://a.co/d/0bqhUb5JKind words from Jennifer Rothschild, Bible teacher, Author, Speaker, Podcast Host, Founder, Fresh Grounded Faith:“Stephanie helps us awaken to and experience true delight. A growing concern among auditors, coders, and compliance professionals is the increasing reliance on template driven documentation. While electronic health records have improved efficiency, copied, carried-forward, and pre-populated information can create significant compliance risks when it does not accurately reflect the patient’s current encounter. Auditors frequently identify contradictory statements, outdated histories, normal findings that conflict with the assessment and plan, and documentation that appears disconnected from the services actually provided. Simply completing documentation fields does not create credible documentation. On this episode of the CodeCast Podcast, Terry discusses why E/M documentation is not a checklist, the compliance risks associated with template generated notes, and practical strategies to ensure your documentation accurately tells the patient’s story and supports the care delivered. What happens when a nonprofit thinks it's ready for a capital campaign—but discovers it still has critical groundwork to complete before moving forward? In this episode of All About Capital Campaigns, Amy Eisenstein sits down with Jacqueline House, Vice President for Communications and Community Engagement at Safe Children Coalition, and Paula Peter, Capital Campaign Pro Campaign Advisor, to explore the remarkable story behind a campaign that grew from an initial $3 million goal to nearly $10 million raised for a new youth shelter serving vulnerable children across Florida's Suncoast region.Safe Children Coalition serves more than 10,000 children each year through foster care, adoption, prevention, and diversion programs. Faced with the need to replace an aging youth shelter originally built in 1959, the organization embarked on a capital campaign that would ultimately far exceed its original fundraising expectations. But the path to success wasn't straightforward.Jacqueline shares how her organization initially believed it was already in campaign mode when, in reality, important campaign planning and donor development work still needed to be completed. Rather than rushing ahead, the organization made the difficult decision to pause for six months and focus on strengthening the foundation necessary for long-term campaign success.Listeners will learn why strategic pauses are often a sign of campaign strength—not weakness—and how organizations can use these periods to clarify project plans, secure key assets, build internal alignment, strengthen campaign leadership, and prepare compelling answers to donor questions. The conversation also explores one of the most important shifts in modern capital campaign fundraising: the evolution of the feasibility study process. Jacqueline explains how conducting donor interviews herself, rather than relying on an outside consultant, helped her build meaningful relationships with prospective major donors, gain candid feedback, and increase both her confidence and effectiveness as a fundraiser.Paula offers a fascinating perspective from her decades-long career in campaign consulting. Having conducted traditional confidential feasibility study interviews since the early 1990s, she candidly discusses why she initially resisted the guided feasibility study model and what ultimately convinced her that empowering nonprofit leaders to conduct their own donor conversations produces stronger fundraising outcomes and more confident campaign leaders. The episode also provides valuable insights for nonprofit executives, development directors, and campaign volunteers working in organizations with limited fundraising infrastructure. Jacqueline describes how she navigated a campaign with a relatively small development operation, a board that was supportive but inexperienced in fundraising, and a leadership team that was simultaneously managing a major construction project.Whether you're planning your first capital campaign, evaluating campaign readiness, considering a feasibility study, or looking for strategies to strengthen donor relationships, this episode offers practical lessons and real-world insights from a nonprofit that transformed its fundraising capacity while successfully completing a major campaign. If you're preparing for a capital campaign or looking to improve your campaign strategy, this conversation offers valuable guidance from leaders who successfully navigated the challenges and opportunities of a transformational fundraising effort. In this episode of Expat Chat, Managing Directors, James Ridley and Brett Evans discuss the key EOFY tasks Australian expats should address to avoid ATO issues and improve their financial outcomes. Key Takeaway: The main message is not just to know the EOFY checklist, but to act on it promptly. He emphasizes the importance of viewing these blessings as affirmations of identity and divine potential rather than as mere checklists or warnings. 00:02:28 – Orlando’s Calling as a Patriarch 00:03:52 – Challenges of Starting as a Patriarch 00:04:48 – Training and Preparation for Patriarchs 00:05:41 – The Pressure of Giving a Blessing 00:06:29 – Communicating First-Time Blessings 00:07:06 – Orlando’s Role as the Only Patriarch 00:07:55 – Impact on Gospel Study and Preparation 00:08:34 – Revelation and Inspiration in Preparation 00:09:40 – The Importance of Compassion 00:10:37 – Note-Taking for Blessings 00:12:00 – Reviewing and Editing Blessings 00:13:27 – The Nature of Patriarchal Blessings 00:14:35 – Preparing Candidates for Blessings 00:17:30 – Helping Candidates Feel Comfortable 00:19:06 – The Role of Patriarchs in the Church 00:20:10 – The Blessing Aspect of Patriarchal Blessings 00:21:09 – Avoiding a Checklist Mentality 00:22:32 – The Role of Personal Agency 00:23:36 – Orlando’s List of Recommended Talks 00:24:45 – Reducing Anxiety for Candidates 00:26:07 – The Experience of Giving Blessings 00:27:30 – The Importance of Seeing Potential 00:28:59 – Understanding Lineage in Blessings 00:30:33 – The Significance of Covenant and Gathering 00:31:47 – Contributions of Different Tribes 00:33:44 – The Role of Personal Revelation 00:35:58 – Flexibility in Interpreting Blessings 00:37:09 – The Lifelong Relevance of Blessings Key Insights The Nature of Patriarchal Blessings: These blessings should be viewed fundamentally as a positive source of love and divine identity. Orlando emphasizes that they are not patriarchal warnings, admonitions, or “chewing outs,” but rather tools to help individuals understand their divine worth. Preparation as a Patriarch: The process involves intense, ongoing spiritual preparation. Orlando explains that he often feels like a “faucet that cannot be turned off” in the days leading up to a blessing, as he studies scriptures and topics prompted by the Holy Ghost to prepare his mind to receive impressions. Mortal Delivery of Revelation: Patriarchs receive inspiration, but they must articulate it using their own mortal capacity, vocabulary, and understanding. Consequently, a patriarchal blessing is a collaboration between the Spirit and the patriarch’s mortal expression. The Fallacy of the “Checklist”: Recipients should avoid viewing their blessings as a list of required events (e.g., marriage, missions, children) to be checked off. Instead, they should see the blessing as a resource to be applied to all of life’s decisions, challenges, and experiences. Understanding Lineage: The declaration of lineage is not a DNA test but an invitation to participate in the Abrahamic covenant and the gathering of Israel. Each tribe's unique description provides a different “skill set” for how an individual can contribute to the Lord’s work. Leadership Applications Alleviate Anxiety: Leaders can help reduce the nervousness people feel about visiting a patriarch by fostering opportunities for the patriarch to interact with ward members (e.g., firesides, sacrament meetings, or activities) beforehand, making him a familiar figure rather than a stranger. Foster a Broad Interpretation: Bishops and leaders should encourage members to interpret their patriarchal blessings with flexibility. When members feel confused by their blessing, leaders can help them understand that the meanings may evolve and deepen as they face different stages and challenges in life. Summary Ali Damron discusses the five pillars of hormone health, emphasizing a nuanced, personalized approach to women's health that integrates neuroplasticity, stress management, nutrition, and functional medicine testing. Key Topics The five pillars of hormone health: neuroplasticity, stress, nutrition, testing, and mindset The role of the nervous system in hormonal and overall health Limitations and benefits of functional medicine testing like Dutch test and GI map The importance of a personalized, nuanced approach over one-size-fits-all protocols The impact of stress, mindset, and perception on physical health and symptoms Takeaways Chronic symptoms often stem from neuroplastic and nervous system dysregulation, not just biochemical imbalances. Functional medicine testing can be valuable but should be used judiciously to avoid overwhelm and over-treatment. A neuroplastic approach can help treat chronic pain, anxiety, and hormonal issues by addressing the brain-body connection. Stress and perception of danger are central to hormonal imbalance; managing these can improve health outcomes. Healthcare should be personalized, with a focus on trust, validation, and understanding patient lifestyle and history. Sound Bites "The mind and body are not different." "Most symptoms are your body's communication." "Your brain perceives your world as dangerous." What if the “slow” periods in your capital campaign are actually some of the most productive opportunities for building donor relationships and campaign success? In this episode of All About Capital Campaigns, hosts Amy Eisenstein and Andrea Kihlstedt explore the natural ebbs and flows that every capital campaign experiences—and why nonprofit leaders should stop viewing slower periods as setbacks. Whether you're in the quiet phase of a campaign, preparing for a major fundraising push, or wondering how seasonal changes affect donor engagement, this conversation offers practical insights that can help you manage campaign momentum more effectively. Many nonprofit leaders assume a capital campaign should operate at full speed all the time. But campaigns are multi-year endeavors, and maintaining maximum intensity for years simply isn't sustainable. Amy and Andrea discuss why successful campaigns naturally move through periods of high activity and quieter stretches, and how understanding these cycles can reduce stress, prevent burnout, and improve fundraising outcomes. The discussion begins with an examination of seasonal fundraising patterns. Is summer really a slow time for fundraising? The answer depends on your organization, your donors, and your community. For some nonprofits, summer presents unique opportunities to connect with donors who are more relaxed and available. For others, donor travel patterns may create different challenges. Either way, making assumptions about donor availability can cause organizations to miss valuable opportunities.Amy and Andrea share examples of nonprofits that successfully leveraged summer activities and informal gatherings to deepen donor relationships and move campaign conversations forward. They discuss how cultivation often works best during periods when both staff and donors feel less rushed and more open to meaningful conversations. The conversation also addresses an important but often overlooked reality of campaign leadership: the emotional and organizational strain that accompanies major fundraising efforts. Capital campaigns involve large goals, significant stakes, and extended timelines. Amy and Andrea explain why nonprofit leaders should intentionally build breathing room into their campaign plans rather than attempting to maintain constant pressure throughout the life of a campaign.Listeners will learn how to identify productive ways to use quieter campaign periods, including donor cultivation, strategic planning, relationship building, and organizational reflection. Rather than viewing slower seasons as lost time, nonprofit leaders can use them to strengthen the foundation that supports future campaign success. If you're leading a capital campaign, preparing for a feasibility study, managing campaign volunteers, working with major donors, or looking for ways to sustain fundraising momentum over the long term, this episode provides valuable perspective on the rhythms and realities of campaign fundraising. In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why every capital campaign experiences natural ebbs and flowsHow seasonal timing affects donor engagement and fundraising activityWhy summer can be an ideal time for donor cultivationJerry Panas's powerful donor meeting scheduling strategyHow to avoid campaign burnout while maintaining momentumWays to use quieter periods productivelyHow to balance urgency and sustainability in campaign leadershipWhy strategic pauses can strengthen campaign resultsTo ensure your campaign ends in a celebration, download our free Capital Campaign Step-by-Step Guide & Checklist. Six years after our “Score preparation and production notes” episode — Episode No. 2 — essentially launched the podcast, 163 episodes later, Philip Rothman and David MacDonald return to the article that inspired the conversation: David’s score preparation checklist. The principles — respect for performers, readable parts, enough time for page turns — are as true as ever. But almost every specific tool reference in the original has a fuller story now. The conversation moves section by section, serving as a reminder of the timeless principles and exploring all of the meaningful changes in the technology. Dorico’s live-reference cue system has become the standard no one else has matched — and the ease of it has quietly changed how generously cues get applied. The Dorico 6 Proofreading panel represents a new category of preparation tool, while the Sibelius plugin ecosystem has its own parallel answers. The condensing and decondensing workflows now available in both Dorico and Sibelius 2025.2 have transformed what was once among the most tedious jobs in parts preparation, and Sibelius 2025.7’s Auto-Respace toggle closes a gap that used to just be accepted. Two sections are entirely new to the checklist: digital delivery — where the iPad has become as common in rehearsal as a music stand — and a pointed look at the file-organization habits that make or break a delivery package. This one’s chock-full of tips, resources and advice — with David’s updated accompanying article to come soon. Caleb addresses the financial and operational pitfalls of poorly managed change orders within his landscaping business. He admits to losing thousands of dollars by failing to document project additions officially, prompting him to implement a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) using the Leanscaper AI platform. This updated protocol requires crews to pause work, take photos in Company Cam, and secure written client approval before proceeding with any extra tasks. Beyond technical management, Auman discusses the complexities of running a business with a spouse and promotes upcoming educational workshops for industry professionals.  Key Takeaways:  Implement a strict "No Surprises" policy by getting written approval for every change in project scope before any additional work begins. Use job documentation apps to take before-and-after photos to prevent disputes and turn potential problems into quick, fact-based decisions. Stick to your established project schedule instead of thinning out crews to start new commitments before current jobs are finished. Create a centralized digital database for Standard Operating Procedures to empower your team to find answers and follow processes independently.
