This podcast interview focuses on the big resilience lessons learned during the recent Pandemic. My guest is Ronni Zehavi, CEO and Co-founder of HibobRonni has over 25 years of experience in multinational, hi-tech companies. Prior to setting up hibob, he was an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Silicon Valley-based Bessemer Venture Partners. He's the strategic advisor and co-founder of Team8 Cyber Security, a powerhouse developing disruptive tech in the cyber security space. Ronni was also the co-founder and CEO of Cotendo, a content delivery network which in 2012, just four years after it was founded, was acquired by Akamai in a $300m.Ronni has a BA in History and Educational Management from Tel Aviv University and a MA in Organisational Sociology from Bar-Ilan University. This is the second time Ronni features on my podcast, the first episode was launch in December 2019. The reason why I invited him again is to hear about his story of what happened after that - and in particular - how they navigated the effects of the pandemic. We explore what happened with HiBob the moment COVID kicked in in March 2020. How did Ronni and his Management Team shift their focus? What became the critical priories (and why). And what decisions did they take to not only survive but to actually come out stronger as a business? Here are some of his quotes:The restart around COVID had a very good impact from an 18-month retro perspective. We were more focused. Really made a crystal clear vision, so we all understand what we do and why we do it, i.e. "all hands on deck, let's make sure that we cross this uncertainty together."We slowed down expansion to the US because we were new there. And we doubled on the markets where we felt more comfortable: Europe, UK, Israel. We tried not to cut our budget in engineering. Because we knew, at some point it will be over, so we really want to take advantage and speed up some other projects that we thought are relevant.During this interview, you will learn four things:The critical things to refocus the business on when a crisis kicks in, especially if you don't know if its behavior will be U, V, or for example W-shaped What to do differently to ensure you will come out stronger from a crisisWhy you should be on your marks not to BS yourself - and how to avoid that in a smart way.Why a crisis is a great opportunity to grow the bond inside the business, the alignment, and everyone's commitmentFor more information about the guest from this week:Ronni ZehaviWebsite HibobLink to our initial podcast interview See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Had the biggest privilege of having Mr Zainal on the podcast – if you aren’t sure, he is a Member of the 12th Parliament of Singapore for the Pasir Ris East Constituency which is part of the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. He is a politician from Singapore’s main governing political party, the People’s Action Party and is also currently serving in the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) as the Assistant Secretary-General. Zainal is a graduate of Nanyang Technological University with a Master of Arts in Educational Management, through which he has served for 20 years in the education service before embarking on his political career. In this episode, we primarily talked about how Singaporean youths can better prepare themselves for the working world, red flags that they need to look out for, and lastly his work in representing the people of Pasir Ris Punggol GRC – the challenges he faces being on the ground as well as the immense satisfaction he gets from making real macro impact onto the lives of Singaporeans.
This podcast interview focuses on product innovation in HR that has the power to inspire growth and ignite culture. My guest is Ronni Zehavi, CEO of HibobRonni has over 25 years of experience in multinational, hi-tech companies. Prior to setting up hibob, he was an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Silicon Valley based Bessemer Venture Partners. He's the strategic advisor and co-founder of Team8 Cyber Security, a powerhouse developing disruptive tech in the cyber security space. Ronni was also the co-founder and CEO of Cotendo, a content delivery network which in 2012, just four years after it was founded, was acquired by Akamai in a $300m. Ronni has a BA in History and Educational Management from Tel Aviv University, and a MA in Organisational Sociology from Bar-Ilan University. I’ve got intrigued by the big idea behind Hibob and in particular it’s fresh approach to HR to manage the typical employee of today, and hence I invited Ronni to my podcast. We explore what’s broken around the approach of the HR systems we have become used to over the past decades and why that approach won’t work any longer if you want to grow your business and the impact of today’s workforce. Here are some of his quotes:‘The shift that we are tracking right now, this is the opportunity: There's a new type of employee and a new type of relationship between employers and employee. This will drive this market going forward. They are bringing a new mindset, new values, and new behavior that did not exist before. It will change completely the way people work. So, we think the future, it requires a new approach, a new architecture that will be in line with those ongoing changes. We believe the future is all about system of relationship. So, the focus is the employee. The focus is the tribe - the employee and the team, the small groups within the company. The notion of ‘We Are One Big Family of 800 employees’ is fake newsIt's all about the small teams and the tribe.’During this interview, you will learn three things:Why creating a clear vision about the change you want to make to the world is essential to making the right product decisionsThat to leverage your success it’s essential to get very clear ‘who’s it for’, and ‘who’s it not for’And that maximum value is created if you home in on the unique DNA of your customer with your solution i.e. strengthen their core strengths. I am thrilled to bring you Holly Elissa Bruno on today’s episode. She has a huge heart and has seven decades of wisdom to bring to you in times of change. She is an expert in legal issues as a “recovering attorney,” and has great advice on how to run a business with clear policies that protect you. We talk to Holly about persistence through challenges, the curved line of our paths, how knowing the law manages our expectations, trends and innovation within the industry, and being of support to the unique and authentic leaders making a difference in our future. Key Takeaways: [8:13] Holly began in education and discovered that she would love to work with children while they are still open and forming their attitudes in early childhood. Along the way, she became a professor, attorney, and taught a course called “The Human Side of Management.” She had a great blessing of meeting and networking with early childhood leaders and felt inspired to continue on the path of changing lives. [13:37] Holly feels most passionate and inspired when working with leaders that work with children. Even though the work is so powerful, a lot of times we are seen as glorified babysitters, caregivers, or lucky to get paid to work with children. [18:41] Holly’s intention is to keep learning always and she has a fascination with life, travel and education. [21:49] One of the things she did to change her life immensely was to take her experience with law and travel and bring it into co-writing her book Managing Legal Risks in Early Childhood Programs. [29:07] Holly gives examples of when the law can be facilitative rather than restrictive, and how certain policies can help get an honest reference for a potential employee. [39:51] Children should get outdoors and have a free and fun environment. We don’t recommend eating dirt but there is something fun to making a mud pie or splashing in a puddle. [43:10] Holly defines herself as a recovering work addict. She is much less focused now on her accomplishments and to do list and more on being present. [45:57] It’s about the four L’s: living, loving, learning and laughing. Holly pulls it into one practice each day by asking “How much today was my life touched by love, and how much did I open my heart?” [52:16] If a child doesn’t feel safe the child can’t relax enough to learn. Until a child feels safe he/she can’t feel love and absorb any type of education. [56:03] Holly defines a rockstar as someone that is so true to themselves that they can use all of their unique and authentic self to make a difference.
