In this episode Dr Natalie Lancer, with Justin Wise and Dr Michael Marx, explores how some coaches integrate faith-based concepts and secular equivalents, including meaning, intuition and a capacity to respond to life's challenges, into their coaching. We learn how religious values, ethics and practices may inform  the work that coaches do with their clients. In this episode, we discuss Christian and Jewish orientations as examples of coaching with faith-based principles. We ask: What is coaching in faith? What if the client is secular or a different religion to the coach? Which religious concepts or secular equivalents, frequently show up in a coaching conversation? Which specific practices drawn from a religious life could be of value in coaching? How can coaching from a faith perspective allow the coachee to develop other stories and perspectives about themselves? How can faith-based thinking help us transcend normative problem-solving in coaching sessions? What can coaching in faith teach us about meaningful ways of living? How can thinking from a faith-based approach towards relationships and communities serve us better? What alternative conceptualisations of life and human beings does religion provide? How can coaching in faith help us recognise our inherent complexity?  Coaching in faith is an often over-looked and rarely acknowledged topic and can offer alternative ways of thinking about common coaching issues. Our guests help us to begin to unpack this potential and explore the possibilities of coaching in faith. Our guests today are: Justin Wise is a coach, educator, founder and faculty member at Thirdspace. He is a graduate of the MSc in People and Organisation Development at the Roffey Park Institute, UK and holds first-class postgraduate degrees from both Cambridge University and University College London. He has been an accredited Integral Development Coach (New Ventures West / Thirdspace) since 2008 and holds the PCC Credential from the International Coaching Federation. Money moves the attention of people, investors, and capital owners. Money is part of many solutions to the climate deadlock. But numbers are not enough to calculate the economic value of the climate issue. Numbers are only the final step on a road that passes through many crossroads: climate change has huge economic, social and cultural costs. Assessing these costs is challenging yet vital for our planet's future. And when it comes to climate policies, responding to different climate emergencies requires different lenses. In this episode, we dive into the world of climate finance through the voices of two experts working in two different fields of economics in two different parts of the globe. Johannes Emmerling is a German economist based in Italy and a senior scientist at the European Institute on Economics and the Environment and at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change. The Urgenda case was the game changer. It opened up a new dialogue between human rights law and climate science, while it marked a watershed moment for climate justice: from then on, we saw new measures to protect people from the harms posed by climate change. We start from there with the voices of those who experienced the Urgenda case on the front line. We tell the story of climate litigation and why it is a crucial aspect of the future planet. We explore how scientific information can inform climate justice through the voices of a scientist and a lawyer: Delta Merner, Lead Scientist of the Science Hub for Climate Litigation at the Union of Concerned Scientists, and Lucy Maxwell, human rights and climate change lawyer and co-director of the Climate Litigation Network within the Urgenda Foundation. Each from their specific perspective, they share the common goal of making climate justice a reality worldwide. Knowledge is power. It is the backbone of an alliance that spans the farthest corners of the planet to the laboratories of the most advanced scientific research. In this episode, we explore the terrain where science meets civil society that triggers climate action. With stories of people in the Global South where natural resources "are being used as a weapon."Because the climate is not just an environmental issue, dealing with climate change also means building a future of peace and stability, especially in regions wounded by conflicts over controlling and managing natural resources. Regions that, in addition to being among the most vulnerable to climate change, are also the hardest hit by social and economic inequity and gender inequality.Iraq and Colombia are dramatically close, in the words of Salman Khairalla and Paola Arias. They tell us of people's lives crossed by the Tigris and the Euphrates, by scientific reports, by the availability of food and water, by the importance of a civil society that, starting from the best available science, gets itself informed and committed to orient political decisions. A trip among satellites, robots and bottles. One that oscillates between the heights of the atmosphere and the surface of the sea. We ride on carbon dioxide molecules to understand how relevant the word budget can be in delivering a future where climate neutrality takes shape. An attainable horizon as long as we follow a simple little rule: "Don't look at what they say. Look at what we're doing”.For Joellen Russell, the future is in our hands. This is a belief she matured on her journey that started as a child in a tiny fishing village in the Arctic Circle and led her to study the movements of the sea and atmosphere to the point of bringing the ocean into weather forecasting. Oceanographer, climate scientist, and Professor at the University of Arizona Joellen Russell's research combines models and observations to study and predict the ocean's role in the climate and carbon cycle of the past, present and future. Russell has a vision for our sustainable future: we are already building it, and we will complete the job in a few decades. How? Behind the scenes of the climate negotiations, where the whole world sits around the same table. We discover the swing of frustration and excitement underlying the process that brings to globally awaited treaties. It is a plot of interminable sessions, under the danger of a deadlock that is always around the corner, behind a comma or a single concept. Scientists, delegates and a journalist unveil how a climate agreement takes shape in the halls and the corridors of an International Climate Conference.Once a year, delegations from all over the world gather to discuss global actions against the climate crisis. It is the COP, one of the most longed-for appointments in the global effort to limit global warming as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. But how do we get there? What happens behind doors when scientists, delegates, and politicians from all over the world meet, discuss and decide? In this episode, we enter into the complicated world of official climate reports and negotiations.Lucia Perugini, part of the Italian Delegation during the UNFCCC negotiations, Shouro Dasgupta, contributors to the Sixth IPCC report and the Lancet Countdown report, and Leo Hickman, science journalist and Director of Carbon Brief, guide us into the room of a COP negotiation, through the delicate writing of official climate reports, and then into the process of conveying these crucial and yet complex results to people all over the world. From their specific perspectives, they explain the reasons why any negotiation is important, any agreement can make a difference in fighting the climate crisis, the most important challenge we face as humanity today.Foresight – Deep into the Future Planet, a podcast produced by the CMCC Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change and FACTA.The concept, interviews and writing are by Elisabetta Tola and Giulia Bonelli. The audio editing is by Lisa Lazzarato. The Executive Producer at CMCC is Mauro Buonocore.Foresight – Deep into the Future Planet, available on climateforesight.eu and wherever you listen to your podcasts.

The blood vessel of Egypt meets China: the world's plumber-in-chief. A journey which starts with the Neolithic revolution, passes through the “hydraulic century” and carries us into the future. By following the history of water, we delve into the roots of human civilization, crossing paths with science, technology, politics, and the stories of people and places. In this episode we follow the course of water. In China, in front of the Three Gorges Dam, the largest on the planet, both the force of nature and the power of man to shape and mould landscapes are on show.In Egypt, at the meeting point between the Middle East and Africa, we venture down the Nile, a river that has accompanied man since the beginning of ancient civilizations and that still today is synonymous with life for the entire region. We continue to follow water in its journey from Venice to Alexandria, from the legacy of Ancient Rome to the American Republic and the British Empire, up to the modern era and the “hydraulic century”, where institutions are shaped by the relationship between man and water.Join us on this journey with scientist Giulio Boccaletti, author of the book “Water. Many years back, I'd thought about writing a book. I had plenty of ideas, what I considered enough motivation and the desire to get 'er done. That was until I found out the "actual" time and energy it was going to take. Years later, I consulted with a firm who it appeared would be my saving grace and the book would finally become a reality... Until I saw the 30-50K price tag. Yikes. Although I could see possible value on a global scale, the benefit to a local practicing Doc just didn't measure up. Recently, I was sent a book to review by an old classmate from CMCC, Dr. Scott Vatcher. Scott's book had made as a Best Seller in 7 Amazon categories! My interest was piqued again. How did he do it? Could he help me? It only made sense to bring him on to the podcast and find out for myself and our listeners. What we covered: Why would a Chiropractor write a book? How much time and energy will it take from start to finish? Once the book is complete, then what? How can we leverage it for our advantage? What is Authority Marketing and how does is benefit a local, small business owner, like a Chiropractor?

On today’s episode I brought Dr. Courtney Bosiljevac on the show because she is a great friend and fellow colleague! We have lived freakishly parallel, completely independent lives and want to share our collective wisdom with you. Both of us are self aware and had the honour of being both doctors and patients in the physical medicine space. I believe it is both of our destinies to experience extreme pain so that we could be the messengers for the expanding definition of wellness.  Courtney and I get vulnerable and share what life was like behind the doors as manual healthcare practitioners and some of the challenges we faced that got us to where we are today. We also share trends we saw develop over time during patient care and how that can be relevant to you today if you are experiencing physical pain. Life happens through our bodies - Courtney and I know pain is a very real experience but an indicator and invitation into something deeper. It may feel scary or stepping into the unknown, but if you are willing to sit with your feelings and an uncomfortable situation, something amazing can happen. When you get quiet and listen, miraculously things do occur. I believe this is a lifesaving skill and Courtney shares her incredible story that proves just that. This episode is a must listen - if you resonate with it, please do us both a favour and share with someone else who you think will as well! During this episode we discuss: Why there is a drive to get back to the ‘status quo’ & how that can affect physical pain  Physical pain is not a punishment! There is always a root cause… “You know your body best” - do you trust your body? Your body goes through physical symptoms when moving through emotions, just like physical exercise (we give real world examples) What happens if you allow yourself to experience pain? We have different ‘bodies’ that are interconnected and interdependent. Dr. Peter Amlinger graduated at the top of his class from CMCC in 1985, and has maintained a family oriented principle  based practice in Mississauga since that time. The purpose of these meetings is to unite chiropractors in the principles of chiropractic. Dr. Amlinger speaks regularly internationally and speaks at Dynamic Essentials meetings.  Since 2004 he has visited Spain regularly to help the chiropractors organize the profession in that country and was instrumental in the birth of the Barcelona College of Chiropractic. He has been nominated for the Canadian Chiropractor of the Year Award three times, and was the recipient of this award in 2006. In September of 2004 he started Chiropractic Pure and Powerful, a seminar bringing some of the Nation's best speakers together in an effort to unite chiropractors in the principle.  He is also president of Purposeful Living Inc. which is a chiropractic consulting and speaking service. In 2005 he was elected to the council of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario,   and in 2006 he was elected to the Executive Board of CCO.  He was elected  President of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario in June 2009 and was re – elected in April 2010 for a second term. He completed another two terms as President of the CCO from April 2012 – April 2014.  In April 2012 he was elected Secretary Treasurer of the FCEARB.  In December of 2012 he was awarded the Heart and Hands Award by the Ontario Chiropractic Association, an award commemorating Dr Michael Brickman's contribution to the profession. He also served as Director for the International Chiropractors Association, Canada, from April 2015 through to February 2017. Dr. Amlinger is a team teacher at the Dynamic Essentials meetings and has been granted the honor of anchoring the CA program on Saturday afternoons. Dr. Amlinger sees his role as a teacher as that of facilitating personal growth in chiropractors, their families and their staff so that they can fall in love with the principles of chiropractic, integrate them into their lives, and develop their “ideal practices” from the inside out.  He sees the principle as the uniting force in chiropractic and is dedicated to enhancing the understanding and utilization of the principle around the world, and to helping people realize their God given purpose. By surrendering to a life of purpose, vision and mission, one awakens their INNATE GIANT within and positions themselves to grasp the BIG IDEA.  This opens the door to a life of joy and peace, and ultimately allows one to serve humanity with an attitude of loving, giving and serving, just for the sake of doing so. Dr. Nicole Lederman knew she wanted to be a doctor and help people at an early age. She graduated from CMCC in 2000 and then worked as a locum for almost three years in Ontario. When she moved to Texas together with her husband, she ended up teaching in the clinic and on the academic side of Parker. After 11 years of teaching, she realized it was time for her and her family to come back to Canada to start a new phase of life. On this episode, Dr. Lederman talks about how her 18 years in practice have been like. As a woman who is less than five-foot tall, she emphasizes that size doesn't matter. In fact, she shares that small female chiropractors are highly specific when making the adjustments. As a working mom, she also experienced being burned out and not being her vibrant, healthy self which taught her that it isn't true that you can have balance. What’s true is you can choose what you want to do. Moreover, being herself, doing self-care, and connecting with others is the biggest things that have helped her over the time.
