The 2024 election is upon us and there's no better way to celebrate than to cast your vote early or on this upcoming Tuesday. The second best way to celebrate is by going back and reliving Pearl Jam's 2004 run on the Vote For Change Tour! Through a run of six swing states including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri and Florida as well as North Carolina, which this episode will focus on, the objective for this tour was to get people to register to vote while speaking out against President George W. Bush and the Iraq War. As with their entire history, the democratic process has been incredibly important to Pearl Jam, and this is one of the most important runs that exemplifies that. Because they were touring with Death Cab For Cutie and Tim Robbins project, GOB Roberts, setlists in 2004 were not quite the marathon shows that we got a glimpse of the prior year. This set is 21 songs long, but only features a 12 song main set. We'll talk about how this was not the best night for Ed's health as he was battling illness, which would leave a bit left to be desired on powerful vocal songs like Brain Of J and Grievance. There is also quite a memorable moment in Do The Evolution where an entire portion of the song was completely disregarded. An important one at that! We'll also talk about some great moments including Long Road opening up the encore and a Blitzkrieg Bop Daughter tag turned into "Hey Ho, Let's Vote!" This episode was selected over 2004 shows due to the unfortunate devastation of Hurricane Helene through Asheville. Alongside this episode, we ran a fundraiser to donate to some local organizations helping to rehabilitate the community - Beloved Asheville, Asheville Survival and Pansy Collective. A new law prohibiting companies from hiring so-called "scabs" - or replacement workers - during a strike was passed in Ottawa this week. Bill C-58 had unanimous support in the House and passed in the Senate without amendment. The bill aims to protect workers' rights by banning replacement workers during a strike for all FEDERALLY-governed workplaces. Marky Ramone (Marc Steven Bell) is a legendary drummer who began playing drums in bands in the New York City area, before joining pioneering punk rock band Richard Hell and the Voidoids who toured the UK with The Clash and recorded the groundbreaking album "The Blank Generation". He then replaced original Ramones drummer Tommy Ramone in the ⁠Ramones ⁠in 1978, and took on the stage name Marky Ramone. The music of the Ramones has inspired the forming of garage bands around the world. In 2002, the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Marky Ramone continues to keep the Ramones legacy alive around the world with his band Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg for fans of all ages and they are badass! Und es gibt unterschiedliche Jahreszeiten. Momentan ist Winter in Deutschland. Momentan ist das Wetter kalt und wir tragen warme Kleidung. Es gibt auch Schnee in Deutschland. Auf der einen Seite ist das schlecht. Es ist schlecht, weil die Straßen gefährlich sind. Die Straßen sind gefährlich, wenn Schnee oder Eis auf den Straßen sind. Die Straßen sind dann glatt. Das ist gefährlich für die Autos. Auf der anderen Seite ist das Wetter im Winter schön: die Menschen können im Schnee spielen. Sie können zum Beispiel Schlittenfahren oder eine Schneeballschlacht machen. Im Winter scheint die Sonne selten. Winter ist aber nicht das ganze Jahr. Nach dem Winter kommt der Frühling und es wird wärmer. Ich mag den Frühling sehr sehr gerne, weil es dann endlich wieder wärmer wird. Der dunkle Winter ist dann vorbei und darüber freue ich mich sehr. Es ist sehr schön, wenn die Pflanzen wieder anfangen zu wachsen. Aber auch der Frühling ist nicht das ganze Jahr. Nach dem Frühling kommt der Sommer. Im Sommer ist es oft warm und der Himmel ist blau. Man kann viel draußen unternehmen, zum Beispiel Schwimmen. Es ist wichtig, im Sommer genug zu trinken! Aber auch der Sommer ist nicht das ganze Jahr. Nach dem Sommer kommt der Herbst. Es wird wieder kälter. Außerdem ist es im Herbst oft bewölkt. Wenn es bewölkt ist, kann es auch regnen. Man sollte dann einen Regenschirm mitnehmen, um trocken zu bleiben. Manchmal gibt es auch Gewitter. Es blitzt dann. Ein Blitz ist sehr hell. Und es donnert. Das kann manchmal laut sein, aber es ist faszinierend.Die Jahreszeiten ändern sich, und jedes Wetter hat seine eigenen Besonderheiten. Es ist wichtig, das Wetter zu beachten, um sich darauf vorzubereiten. Hast Du eine Lieblingsjahreszeit? Hast du ein Lieblingswetter? Ich persönlich mag das warme Wetter besonders. Also den Frühling und den Sommer. Aber, wenn es im Winter schneit, finde ich das auch sehr schön. Musik: Olexy, summer walk.

Wir sprechen über den Kopf. Der Kopf ist sehr wichtig für uns. Zuerst das Wichtigste: Im Kopf ist das Gehirn. Das Gehirn funktioniert wie ein Computer. Das Gehirn ist also unser persönlicher Microsoft oder Apple- Computer. Mit dem Gehirn können wir denken. Mit dem Gehirn können wir aber auch fühlen. Wir können zum Beispiel Schmerz fühlen. Was aber ist auf dem Kopf? Auf dem Kopf sind die Haare. Welche Frisur hast Du? Es gibt Frisuren mit kurzen Haaren und Frisuren mit langen Haaren. Hast Du kurze oder lange Haare? Ich habe kurze Haare. Welche Farbe haben Deine Haare? Meine Haare sind braun. Es gibt auch blonde Haare, schwarze Haare oder rote Haare. Rote Haare sind sehr selten. Der Kopf hat außerdem Augen. Mit den Augen können wir sehen, zum Beispiel einen Regenbogen. Die Augen von Menschen können unterschiedliche Farben haben. Welche Farben haben Deine Augen? Meine Augen sind blau. Es gibt aber auch braune Augen oder grüne Augen. Grüne Augen sind sehr selten. Aber alle Farben sind sehr schön.  Welche Körperteile hat der Kopf noch? Der Kopf hat außerdem die Nase. Mit der Nase können wir riechen. Der Kopf hat außerdem den Mund. Mit dem Mund können wir essen und trinken. Im Mund sind die Zähne. Die Zähne sind sehr wichtig, um zu essen. Mit dem Mund können wir auch sprechen, zum Beispiel einen Podcast einsprechen. Das mache ich gerade. Du benutzt aber auch gerade ein Körperteil. Du benutzt die Ohren. Welche Sprachen spreche ich? Nun ja, ich spreche natürlich deutsch. Deutsch ist meine Muttersprache. Es ist meine Muttersprache, weil ich die Sprache von meinen Eltern gelernt habe. Außerdem lebe ich in Deutschland. Ich spreche die Sprache also jeden Tag. Aber welche anderen Sprachen spreche ich noch? Ich spreche noch englisch. Ich lerne Englisch seit der Grundschule. Das Lernen von Englisch in der Schule ist in Deutschland sehr wichtig. Vor allem junge Menschen in Deutschland sprechen gut English. Ich habe Englisch aber nicht nur in der Schule gelernt. Nach der Schule habe ich Englisch auch mit Serien und mit Büchern gelernt. Meine erste Serie auf Englisch war „How i met your mother“. Das war gut, weil die Sprache in der Serie relativ einfach ist. Ich habe die Serie mit Untertiteln geschaut. Mein erstes englisches Buch war Harry Potter. Das war gut, weil ich das Buch gut kenne. Außerdem gefällt mir das Buch sehr gut. Es ist sehr wichtig, dass Dir das Sprachenlernen Spaß macht. Die Serien und Bücher müssen Dir gefallen und Dich motivieren. Seit der Covid Pandemie lerne ich außerdem Spanisch. Die Grundlagen und die Grammatik lerne ich mit einer App. Außerdem höre ich einen Spanisch Podcast. Nach jeder Episode schreibe ich die Vokabeln in eine Karteikarten App. So kann ich die Vokabeln wiederholen. Das ist wichtig, um sich die Wörter gut zu merken. Außerdem habe ich auch einen Tandem-Partner. Spanisch ist eine sehr schöne Sprache und mir gefällt spanische Musik sehr . Außerdem habe ich auch in Norwegen studiert. Ich spreche also ein bisschen Norwegisch. Außerdem habe ich in der Schule auch ein bisschen Französisch gelernt. Alle Sprachen sind sehr schön. Englisch ist eine wunderschöne Sprache. Mich interessieren aber auch andere Sprachen; zum Beispiel osteuropäische Sprachen wie Polnisch oder Ukrainisch. Aber alle Sprachen zu lernen ist schwierig. Weihnachtsmärkte gibt es in Deutschland jedes Jahr im Dezember. Im Dezember ist die Weihnachtszeit. Während der Weihnachtszeit gibt es in jeder großen Stadt einen Weihnachtsmarkt. Wo findest Du den Weihnachtsmarkt? Meistens findest Du den Weihnachtsmarkt im Zentrum der Stadt. Aber was gibt es auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt zu sehen? Was kannst Du auf einem Weihnachtsmarkt machen? Auf einem Weihnachtsmarkt gibt es sehr viele Lichter. Die Lichter machen eine sehr schöne Atmosphäre, weil es im Dezember sehr dunkel ist. Die Lichter, das Licht ist sehr hell. Auf einem Weihnachtsmarkt gibt es auch vor allem viele Buden. An den Buden kannst Du viele unterschiedliche Dinge kaufen. Du kannst vor allem Essen und Trinken kaufen. Ein sehr bekanntes Getränk auf einem Weihnachtsmarkt ist der Glühwein. Der Glühwein ist sehr warm und das ist sehr angenehm, weil das Wetter im Dezember meistens sehr kalt ist. Aber Vorsicht! Sei vorsichtig, wenn Du Glühwein trinkst. Glühwein macht Dich sehr schnell betrunken. Aber keine Sorge, wenn Du keinen Alkohol trinken willst: Es gibt natürlich auf einem Weihnachtsmarkt auch Getränke ohne Alkohol. An den Buden kannst Du aber auch andere Dinge kaufen. Zum Beispiel kleine Lichter oder Dekorationen. Manchmal gibt es auf einem Weihnachtsmarkt auch Fahrgeschäfte. Zum Beispiel ein Karussell, nicht nur für die Kinder. Alles in allem ist der Weihnachtsmarkt eine sehr schöne Tradition. Auch Du solltest dieses Jahr auf einen Weihnachtsmarkt gehen. Medien sind sehr wichtig für unsere Gesellschaft. Es gibt viele verschiedene Medien. Aber welche verschiedenen Medien gibt es? Ein Medium ist zum Beispiel das Buch. Das Buch ist ein sehr altes Medium. Bücher gibt es schon sehr lange. Bücher sind sehr wichtig, um Dinge zu lernen. Hast du ein Lieblingsbuch? Mein Lieblingsbuch ist Harry Potter. Bücher sind normalerweise gedruckt. Heutzutage gibt es aber auch Ebooks. Das sind elektronische Bücher. Aber welche Medien gibt es außerdem? ‚Es gibt außerdem Zeitungen und Zeitschriften. In Zeitungen und Zeitschriften kannst du Nachrichten und andere interessante Geschichten lesen. Oft gibt es auch Bilder. Es gibt Zeitungen und Zeitschriften zu fast jedem Thema. Es gibt zum Beispiel Sportzeitschriften, Modezeitschriften oder Politikzeitschriften. Eine sehr bekannte Politikzeitschrift in Deutschland ist der Spiegel. Die Zeitschrift heißt „der Spiegel“. Aber welche anderen Medien gibt es noch?Es gibt außerdem noch das Fernsehen und das Radio. Im Fernsehen kannst du viele verschiedene Sendungen sehen. Es gibt Nachrichten, aber auch Filme und Serien. Eine sehr bekannte Fernsehserie ist zum Beispiel die Serie „Friends“. Vielleicht kennst Du diese Serie ja auch.   Im Radio kannst du auch verschiedene Sendungen hören. Im Radio kannst du aber auch Musik hören. Ich persönlich mag das Radio sehr. Ich höre zum Beispiel Radio beim Kochen. Aber welche anderen Medien gibt es noch? Ein sehr wichtiges Medium ist heutzutage das Internet! Das Internet ist sehr wichtig, weil es viele Funktionen hat. Du kannst dich im Internet informieren oder auch mit anderen Menschen kommunizieren. In Deutschland kommunizieren sehr viele Menschen über Whatsapp. Es ist sehr wichtig, die Inhalte von Medien kritisch zu sehen. Nicht alle Informationen aus den Medien sind objektiv und nicht alle Informationen aus den Medien sind immer wahr. Zum Beispiel gibt es auf social media manchmal Kampagnen zur Desinformation. Es ist wichtig, die Informationen aus verschiedenen Medien zu nehmen. Aber keine Sorge, in diesem Podcast sind alle Informationen wahr

Nicht alle Menschen wohnen in einem Haus. Manche Menschen wohnen auch in einer Wohnung. Ein Haus ist größer als eine Wohnung. In einem Haus gibt es viele Zimmer. Das Schlafzimmer ist zum Schlafen. Man findet dort oft ein gemütliches Bett. Es gibt große Betten und kleine Betten. Paare haben oft ein großes Bett. Im Wohnzimmer kann man fernsehen, spielen oder einfach entspannen. In vielen deutschen Wohnzimmern gibt es ein Sofa und einen Fernseher. Im Wohnzimmer kommt die Familie zusammen. Man redet, lacht oder spielt zusammen. In der Küche wird leckeres Essen gekocht. Deshalb gibt es in der Küche oft einen Ofen und einen Herd. Im Badezimmer kann man sich waschen. Deshalb gibt es im Badezimmer ein Waschbecken und eine Dusche. Hier kann man duschen oder sich die Zähne putzen. Ich putze mir drei Mal am Tag die Zähne. Wann duscht Du? Duscht Du vielleicht morgens nach dem Aufstehen? Ich dusche oft abends. Dann kann ich besser schlafen!  Hast Du vielleicht Kinder? Das Kinderzimmer ist für die Kleinen, um zu spielen und zu schlafen.  Arbeitest Du vielleicht im von zu Hause? Arbeitest Du vielleicht aus dem Homeoffice? Vielleicht hast Du dann ein Büro. In einem Büro gibt es einen Schreibtisch. In einem Büro kann man gut arbeiten, weil man oft seine Ruhe hat. Ich arbeite manchmal auch von zu Hause. Ich habe aber kein Büro. Bei mir steht der Schreibtisch in meinem Schlafzimmer. Music: Olexy, summer walk.

Cupcake win! Had a great result using Bob's Red Mill buttermilk for my cakes. Nice buttercream color as well from the Ann Clark food coloring I picked up and the 1M piping tip! Nice to finally report on a triumph hahah! Couple of news stories - Network ITV has given new GBBO host Alison Hammond a very nice contract to lock her into the network. In another article (both of these from the Irish Mirror) Prue talks about how nice it is to have another woman on the show and that she didn't get a lot of the jokes when it was 3 men. A quick "Who are they" segment about Juniors host Harry Hill (not his birth name) where we learn a bit about him including his original profession - I was very surprised! Heat A of Juniors follows the "formula" two very young and absolutely adorable little ones - Lola and Quique - are my out of the box favorites. Lola's attitude on baking is what EVERYONE's should be! "Hey Ho, let's give it a go!" Mia age 11, Macy, 10 and Eliza are the "middle of the packers", Will, 11, is the one I feel is going to bring nice artistic flare. Joey, 11, is probably the "ringer" who is a liiiiitle arrogant but knows his stuff it appears, and then the "veteran" is Kezia at age 13. Paul was substituting for Liam who was out sick so the kids had a nice surprise when he showed up! First technical challenge was "mini piggy rolls" essentially swiss rolled sponge with berry and mascarpone filling coated in pink chocolate and decorated to look like a pig. The big test here was "the sponge". Very easy to overbake this or not cool it right and you get a cracked mess... which many did. One comment - they only had an HOUR for this... that's a tough call. Mia had the most problems... and only delivered 3 of the 6 ... which landed her last in the technical. Lola - who approached the whole thing with a smile created what Paul called "abstract art" and landed 7th. There were a few that were dry and not so nice looking... Quique went a little chocolate crazy, Joey came out decently and Kezia was the definite "most attractive pigs" which landed her the technical win. In the showstopper, the bakers had to create a cake depicted their proudest moment. There were some sweet stories, and a lot of "lemon cake" choices. Fondant or Buttercream were the typical toppers with a few interesting flavors. three interesting cakes: Macy with carrot cake (it collapsed a bit - as carrot cake can do - under the weight of the fondant); Quique with an almond cake that used olive oil, and Joey with a Japanese Chiffon cake. This paid off for Joey even though he overbaked them and they burned a bit... but they still tasted amazing. He pulled out the Star baker with this. Picked up a tip - when using artificial flavors - like will and his bubblegum buttercream - a little salt can balance out the artificial flavoring.
