**Word of warning – the first fifty minutes of the show has less than great audio. For some reason a buzzing was on the track and the only way I could eliminate it was to crush some of the less loud portions of the sound out. Sadly, this dropped most of the laughter from the amused ladies in the room and causes the softer ends of some words to be lost as well. I'm sorry about this – I'll work to make sure it doesn't happen again.** I am joined once again by Bobby Hazzard and John Hudson to roll around in Italian sleaze! This time I chose the film and, since I was in a post-apocalypse frame of mind, we end up talking about our first Bruno Mattei film. RATS NIGHT OF TERROR (1984) is probably my favorite of Mattei's efforts, which some will claim is damning it with faint praise – I can't disagree. We talk about how we first encountered this mad movie and its regular video companion HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD (1980). Tied into that, Huson notes the strong similarities of this film's plot to the classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968) siege scenario. Other post-apocalypse exploitation movies are used for comparison with this one coming in as a lesser effort in some way but not in others. The portentous ‘Star Wars' inspired opening voiceover has us trying to square the supposed 225 years ‘After the Bomb' timeline it provides but we do have a lot of un noting that the world ended in 2015. Actress Geretta Geretta has talked about this film on several occasions and we relate a few of her more interesting tales of working in Italian cinema without speaking the language. Other topics include dodging iguanas, buckets of rats and well-done fire stunts complete with some unfortunate animal cruelty. We do eventually end up spoiling the excellent ending, so you have been warned. If you have any comments about this film or any other we've covered on the show thebloodypit@gmail.com is the place to send them. We thank you for listening and we will do our best to avoid audio problems in the future.
In this week's episode we sat down with former MLB player and current Rockies commentator Jeff Huson to talk about his playing career, favorite Rockies moments, and his outlook on the 2023 Rockies season! Big thanks to Mr. Huson for stopping by the show!!
“I don't want you to look back on this in 5 or 10 years and wish you would have tried to play baseball.” What if Jeff Huson's dad hadn't said that to him as he walked out the door to start school with his friends at the University of Arizona? Chances are very likely “Huey” would have missed out on a 15-year baseball career between college and the big leagues. He would not be in the Glendale Community College Hall of Fame or the Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame. He would not have played 3rd base next to Cal Ripken Jr. when Cal broke Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive games played. He would not have played in two of Nolan Ryan's no-hitters. He would not be going on 18 years as the color analyst for Rockies TV Broadcasts. Thankfully, his dad's words stayed in his head, and he turned around on the steps of the admissions office at U of A and all of the above did happen… and then some. It was a grind, but with the support of his wife Wendy and many others along the way, Jeff Huson played for 6 major league teams starting with his MLB debut with the Expos in 1988 and wrapping up in 2000 after a season with the Cubs. After his playing days, Jeff coached for a few years. In 2006, his name was thrown in the mix for the Rockies TV color analyst job. He auditioned, got the gig and for hundreds of games every year, brings his impressive amount of experience and knowledge to the broadcast.

The Green Repeal - A Guide to Cannabis Marketing & Advertising
These days, everyone's talking about supply chains and the challenges they're facing when it comes to sending and receiving virtually anything from one part of the world to another. As you might expect, since cannabis is still federally illegal, it comes with its own set of challenges, and relies on complex networks that aren't easy to untangle. Fortunately, there's people like Peter Huson. A former rocket scientist, Peter is Chief of Operations at Backbone–a fully customizable supply chain management platform that tracks production compliance, cost of goods sold, yields, and audit reporting data in real-time. He provides producers with data-driven insights that help them scale their businesses and grow their teams. Prior to joining Backbone, he co-founded the Northern Nights Music Festival, which was the first music festival with legal cannabis sales. He is also the co-founder and COO at One Log Cannabis Business Park and Compliance Officer at Mesh Ventures, as well as a holder of over 50 cannabis licenses across the supply chain. Today, Peter joins the podcast to talk about creating new systems to solve age-old problems, the intersection between cannabis and tech, and how everything in this business can be tied back to the Grateful Dead. KEY TAKEAWAYS The key problems unique to cannabis supply chains across states and in different countries. What Backbone is doing for cannabis that Oracle and SAP are doing for other industries. Why the cannabis industry is all but guaranteed to get simpler and tighter over time–and how cannabis plants' uniqueness challenges standardization. How Peter launched a music event with legal cannabis sales. How he foresees the cannabis industry developing in the years to come. We chat about his experience as an Aerospace Engineer for government contracts working with NASA and the project he worked on at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Peter recognized that many attendees were cannabis consumer's however they didn't have a way to legally consume on site while mostly all festivals offered beer gardens for alcohol consumers. Peter wanted the attendees of NNM to have a different experience so he worked alongside local regulators and co-authored AB2020 granting Northern Nights the go-ahead to be the first festival to offer legal cannabis sales. Peter also describes the potential for a psychedelic consumption section at future festivals as laws and guidelines continue to evolve. While the pandemic put a damper on 2020's plans Peter has high hopes for the festival in 2021. Is financial instability a symptom of something far deeper? Barbara Huson, the daughter of the R in H&R Block, is a best-selling author and a beacon for financial savvy for women. We talk about what inspired her to change her name from Barbara Stanny to Huson, and some of her "aha" moments in interviewing 6-7 and 8-figure women. I've known Barbara for a few years and her story's incredible - she came back from a $1 MILLION tax bill and teaches other women how to calm their own financial demons. You can listen to the first episode here: (Episode 20 - Sacred Success.) We talk about "aha" moments and one of mine in this episode was her quote from Carl Jung, "for better to come, good must stand aside." What does that mean? You've gotta read her blog, on the Magical Power of Letting Go - it's excellent. Have you ever held onto something so fiercely that it exhausts you? Have you been too afraid to let it go, even though you know it's for the best, but you hold on because of your fear? Yeah. It's THAT conversation. Brew a cup, this one you'll wanna sit down for. Barbara - as always, much love to you. Thanks for helping so many women transform the way we think about money. I keep saying that your spiritual path is your business, as is your spiritual growth and learning. The problem is that on the way to enlightenment, so many of us are confronted by what seems to be an army of nitpickers and self-appointed prophets as well as actual teachers and mentors to the point that it can be overwhelming. And many of them will try to convince you that your way is wrong. If that is what they claim, then they are wrong. And that is one of the few times when I'll say that someone's way is wrong - if they say that your way is wrong because it's not theirs. In choosing a teacher or mentor, there are certain factors to consider. There are also certain things to look for that will show you how much of a teacher that teacher really is. But above all else, it's your spiritual path. Also bear in mind that we're dealing with the infinite, so nobody knows everything about anything, and only The Divine has any chance of having all of the answers! Blessed Be!
This week Kevin talks with Jerry Huson of 7 Day Hero, an organization that takes American Christians to overseas mission fields. Jerry has found many ways to occupy himself throughout his life, from coaching high school and college sports, to earning a PhD, to driving floats at Disneyland. But there is one pursuit he will never be able to give up: ministering to the needy in far-off places. Jerry has been to over 40 countries, and has seen countless transformed lives among both the impoverished people in need of aid, and the volunteers who come along to help them. Jerry’s organization, 7 Day Hero, is all about teaching people how to be a hero seven days a week. What is a hero? Someone who gives himself away, helping those who can’t help themselves, without expecting anything in return. This is something that can (and should) be done around the world, but it can also be done in one’s own neighborhood, street, and household. Those who go on Jerry’s trips experience what it’s like to be a hero by helping people with no resources to help themselves, including blind people who can’t afford simple eye surgeries and lepers who have no access to treatment. But instead of simply leaving the trip behind them, they are encouraged to think about how they can still be a hero once they return home. The simplest acts, like performing a chore for a loved one to conversing with a stranger, can have an unforgettable impact on another person’s life. Two millennia ago Jesus Christ walked the earth, cleansing lepers, giving sight to the blind, and most importantly, showing love to the outcasts. He told his followers, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12) To this day, followers of Jesus are called to participate in his works. We have the ability to provide treatment for lepers and surgery that can restore sight to blind eyes; will we take action and put our resources to work for the Kingdom of God? “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” —Luke 14:26 Learn more about 7 Day Hero and their mission to restore sight to 20,000 eyes by visiting 7DayHero.org.
