(This podcast was previously published on February 22, 2021)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...   Jesus said:  John 16:13   Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.   Jesus says:  14  HE shall glorify ME: for HE shall receive of Mine, and shall shew it unto you.   We glorify ourselves when we speak our own ideas and our own opinions.   We glorify God when we share God's Word and those things told us by God's Spirit.   I've found the majority of church people do not want to hear that which God has said and that which God has done.   They want to praise their pastors and other humans.   I Corinthians 2   1  And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.   2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and HIM crucified.   3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.   4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:   5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.   12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.   13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.   14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.   *****   Concerning homosexuals and lesbians:  God's views:   Romans 1:26-28   26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:   27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.   28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;   ***   Concerning divorce and remarriage, God's views:   Matthew 5:32 Jesus said:   But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.   - The divorced woman who remarries commits adultery but her husband who divorced a faithful wife is the cause of her adultery.   - The man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.     I Corinthians 7:10-11   And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. I Corinthians 7:39   The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.   Mark 10   2 And the Pharisees came to HIM, and asked HIM, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting HIM.   3 And HE answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?   4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.   5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.   6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.   7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;   8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.   9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.   10 And in the house HIS disciples asked HIM again of the same matter.   11 And HE saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.   12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.   Romans 7:1-3   1  Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?   2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.   3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.   ***   Concerning fornication, God's views:   I Corinthians 6   15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.   16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith HE, shall be one flesh.   17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.   18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.   ***   Sins committed by a "brother":   I Corinthians 5   1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.   2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.   3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,   4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,   5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.   6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?   7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:   11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.   12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?   13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.   ***   Concerning those who will not go into heaven, God's views:   I Corinthians 6   9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,   10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.     Galatians 5   19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,   20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,   21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.   ***   Revelation 3:5   Jesus says:   He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before MY Father, and before his angels.     Revelation 22   Jesus says: 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and MY reward is with ME, to give every man according as his work shall be.   13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.   14  Blessed are they that do HIS commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.   15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. ***   If you share your own opinions or opinions of other people, you glorify humans.   But if you share what God says, you glorify God.

Moses 1 is the missing preface to the Old Testament which reveals three important truths.(07:03) We are God's children, and have infinite worth and potential.(08:45) The name of God. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew and many words can have various interpretations.(12:06) Divine investiture of authority allows the Son to have the power to speak as if he is the Father.(18:11) The creation story is not about how. It's about why. Man is nothing and yet God wants to give us everything He has.(21:18) The historical timeframe of Moses 1.(23:54) Satan's name only appears in the Bible 13 times. His presence in the Book of Moses is significant.(27:43) The difference between the glory of God and the glory of the world.(33:50) We can cast out Satan and control darkness by inviting light.(35:39) Moses 1 ends with the command to show the words only to those that believe. Levels of exoteric and esoteric are in scriptural texts.(39:44) The book of Abraham originated with Egyptian papyri that Joseph Smith translated. Fire destroyed most of the original scrolls and only small fragments remain. These fragments, called JSP I-XI, contain burial texts called The Book of Breathings.(45:36) The relationship between the remaining fragments and the text of the Book of Abraham is not fully understood.(47:28) Some counter-arguments to criticisms of the Book of Abraham include the missing text theory, the catalyst theory, and the Jewish redaction theory.(55:23) The JSP I-XI fragments date to the 2nd century BC, not 1900 BC when Abraham lived. He seizes the dragon, who is the devil, and binds him for a thousand years, preventing him from deceiving the nations. During this time, those who are faithful to Christ, even unto death, reign with Him. After the thousand years, Satan is released for a short time and gathers nations for battle. Fire from heaven consumes them, and the devil is cast into the lake of fire, where the beast and false prophet already are. Then the final judgment occurs. The dead are judged according to their deeds as recorded in the books. Anyone not found in the book of life is also thrown into the lake of fire. God's justice is complete and eternal.  God will bring all things to justice, and no evil will escape His judgment. Satan's defeat shows that his power is temporary and limited. Those who gave their lives for Christ are honored and will reign with Him, proving that faithfulness has eternal value. The final judgment is both sobering and hopeful. Books are opened, and each person is judged according to their works. Only those whose names are written in the book of life will enter eternal life with God. This truth calls us to live intentionally, choosing righteousness over compromise. We are invited to trust fully in Christ and walk in obedience. His victory is certain, and our hope is secure when our lives belong to Him.  Incredible Father, You are the righteous Judge over all the earth. We praise You for the victory over Satan and the coming end of his deception. You have shown that evil will not prevail, and all who follow Christ will reign with Him in glory. Help us live boldly in faith, knowing that our choices matter and that judgment is real. Search our hearts and guide us to walk in holiness. May our names be found in the book of life, sealed by Your grace. We will trust Your justice, rest in Your promises, and live each day prepared for eternity.  Thought Questions: Details in this chapter are often debated. But what is its point? Even when it looks like Satan has power, what do we know about God? Whether we reign with Christ now, or will do so in eternity, or both, how do the assurances of victory with Him control your life? Is your name in the book of life, assuring that you will avoid the lake of fire? How do you know, and what does this confidence do for you?

Bloody New Year (1987) was chosen by co-host Dave as the final movie pick in the Year of the Stitch-Up, and what a note to end on. The film was directed by Norman J. Warren, a cult British filmmaker best known for low-budget horror and exploitation fare like Satan's Slave and Inseminoid. By the late 1980s, Warren was working with extremely limited resources, and Bloody New Year was produced on a modest budget aimed squarely at the VHS and late-night rental market. Thanks!Revelation 19 A great multitude in heaven praises God, declaring that His judgments are true and just because He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth. The smoke from her destruction rises forever, and the twenty-four elders and four living creatures worship God. A voice calls on all of God's servants to praise Him. Then heaven opens, and a white horse appears. Its rider is called Faithful and True, wearing many crowns and a robe dipped in blood. He leads the armies of heaven and strikes down the nations with a sharp sword. He rules with justice and treads the winepress of God's wrath. The beast and the false prophet are captured and thrown alive into the lake of fire. The kings of the earth are defeated by the word of Christ.  God's justice and victory are on full display. The praise of heaven reminds us that evil will not win, and God's judgments are right and true. Christ is revealed as the Faithful and True rider, leading heaven's armies with power and righteousness. He does not come in weakness but in glory, bringing justice to the nations. We are His bride, clothed in righteous acts in His honor. The defeat of the beast and false prophet shows that no enemy of God will stand. We are not waiting for victory; we are living in the full assurance of it. Let us worship with joy, follow Christ with loyalty, and live with courage, knowing the King of kings reigns forever.  Amazing God, we praise You for revealing Jesus as Faithful and True, the King of kings and Lord of lords. He comes in glory, riding in righteousness, bringing justice to the nations. We thank You that His victory is certain and His name is above all names. Sermon Summary: “Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Besides Me”   God Must Be First—Always The sermon opens with Exodus 20, where God establishes the first commandment: nothing is allowed to come before Him. This command is foundational because when God is not first, every other area of life eventually becomes disordered. Even temporary distractions or misplaced priorities can function as false gods if they take precedence over God. Idolatry Is Often Subtle Modern idolatry is rarely statues or images—it is anything that competes for God's place. Satan works primarily as a deceiver, making good or neutral things seem more important than God. Careers, relationships, possessions, comfort, and personal ambitions can quietly move ahead of God, especially during seasons of pressure or busyness. Jesus Demands Supreme Loyalty Jesus reinforces this command in the New Testament, teaching that no relationship or pursuit—even family—can outrank devotion to Him. Loving anyone or anything more than Christ disqualifies true discipleship. This does not diminish human love, but properly orders it under a supreme love for God. Counting the Cost of Discipleship Following Jesus requires intentional commitment. He warns that disciples must count the cost, understanding that faith involves sacrifice, endurance, and perseverance. Those who begin without resolve often fall away when pressure, ridicule, or difficulty arises. A Disciple Is Permanently Committed The sermon explains that a disciple is not someone who tries Christianity, but someone who has made a decisive act with permanent results. True disciples are “glued,” “fused,” and fully attached to Christ and His teachings, refusing to live a divided life or allow compromise. Spiritual Danger of Becoming Sluggish Scripture warns against becoming spiritually sluggish—not sinful rebellion, but spiritual laziness. When diligence fades, prayer weakens, Scripture becomes neglected, and God gradually loses first place. Faithfulness requires intentional effort and consistency. God Rewards Undivided Hearts Psalm 84 highlights the blessing of those whose strength is in the Lord and whose hearts are set on the journey with Him. God withholds no good thing from those who remain upright, coupled, and fully devoted. A day in God's presence is better than anything the world offers. Trusting God With the Impossible The sermon concludes with the challenge of the “Impossibility List”—placing before God needs that only He can accomplish. This practice reinforces trust, keeps God first, and builds faith as believers watch Him answer prayers over time. Final Call Believers are urged to examine their lives, realign priorities, and recommit to placing God first in every area. When hope seems lost, God proves Himself faithful. True discipleship begins and continues with this resolve: no other gods—only Him.

Life Review with Jesus & Satan

This episode originally aired on December 12, 2022. Mark, much like John, begins his biography with Jesus as an adult. His account moves rapidly through a prophecy from Isaiah, John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness, Jesus' baptism by John, God the Father speaking from heaven to Jesus, and Jesus heading into the wilderness for forty days, which included being tempted by Satan. Mark covers all of this in just 15 verses. Although it's not the traditional Christmas story we're used to, it's still clear that Jesus' entrance into the world is seen as an invasion by the forces that are ruling it. We also see that through Jesus, God is answering the prayer for mercy and help from Isaiah 64, where the author asks God to rend the heavens and come down.
