“I appreciate the Rococo for its extravagance and theatricality, as it appeals to my love of kitsch.”- STUART NETSKY Netsky is a conceptual artist making paintings, mixed media sculptures, prints and other objects. An original voice and artist whose work jumps off the canvas and confronts us with the eclectic absurdity of our image inundated culture. A lover of the theatrical, mixed with his unique version of pop and Romantic master painting. His work is made in distinct series, creating a pictorial eclecticism that obscures our ability to make sense of the image, acting as a metaphor for the confusion and shifting dichotomies in social interactions.Digital images speak to our technologically driven world and reflect the temporal paradox in pop culture whereby the past is brought to the present, the present to the past. He digitally appropriates art and historical images with those from film and popular culture, juxtaposed with psychedelic and floral patterns and mixes them all together. His influences include Francois Boucher and Gerhard Richter, Jean-Honore Fragonard, Gene Davis, Bridget Riley, Nicholas Krushenick and Jean-Antoine Watteau, among others - the rococo and abstraction, op art and pop art, anime and realism, and the psychedelic all come together, layered, spliced and distorted, materials that evoke the psychosexual. He views his practice as a drag display operating within the time he has lived in while embracing nostalgia and romanticism for their tender and universal sensibilities. He received a Master of Art in Art Education from Philadelphia College of Art in 1986 and went on to receive a Master of Fine Art in sculpture from Tyler School of Art, Elkins Park, PA in 1990. Netsky was an Adjunct Professor at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, and is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Jefferson University. He has had solo exhibitions of his work at Philadelphia's Institute of Contemporary Art, Larry Becker Contemporary Art, Richard Anderson, NYC, Locks Gallery, Bridgette Mayer Gallery, and a retrospective at the Rosenwald Wolf Gallery, University of the Arts. He has also shown in innumerable group shows nationally and internationally. In 1995, he received the Pew Fellowship in the Arts. His work is in the collections of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, Woodmere Art Museum, as well as the Johnson and Johnson Collection and many private collections.

So I always kind of throw the question right back at the host and say, you tell me what organ you want and I'll tell you what it happens. Where are the big ones? I mean, we always think about the brain. We think the brain about in a medical sense, in a psychological sense. When we talk about having being sleep deprived or not getting good quality and quantity sleep, it adds things to depression. It adds to things like anxiety. It's going to be a risk factor for things like stroke. So it's horrible when we talk about the heart needless to say that when we talk about that poor quality and quantity sleep, yes, you're going to be at a higher risk for things like coronary artery disease, things like heart failure, things like arrhythmias. And the way I kind of summarize it is that at nighttime, what happens to our blood pressure and our heart rate? Well, they tend to take a break. They tend to dip down a little bit so they could take the stress off the heart. It's beating so hard during the day, but when you have poor sleep at night, you're never giving your body a chance to rest, especially if you have undiagnosed sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea that affects 30 million people in t...
Does trying to eat less really help you to lose weight? “People who try to eat less are actually very uncomfortable. It's actually hard to be hungry, and we don't like it,” says Anna Tobia of the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at Jefferson University. “So, the best way to lose weight is actually to control your environment.” As part of her clinical psychologist role, Ms. Tobia helps people to curb their eating habits and to control eating disorders. On Vital Signs with Brendon Fallon, she highlights how strategy in buying and eating food can enable weight loss and better health. “If your weight isn't where you want it to be, you're not broken. And this isn't because of some trauma that happened to you or some difficult situation. You've got extra weight because it's really hard to [lose weight]”, says Ms. Tobia. Why do we feel so compelled to eat unhealthy, fattening foods? Ms. Tobia ties our “obesity epidemic” to the survival instincts of our ancient ancestors. Therein may just lie the clues we need to bring our cravings under tighter control. ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Now, he's getting involved in the startup scene through his work as an executive in residence at General Catalyst. We wanted to bring Dr. Klasko in for a special session with our Health Transformers because he's solved healthcare problems at the highest level and understands just how interconnected this ecosystem really is. We talk with Interventional Radiologist Dr. Carin Gonsalves about how her practice built a multidisciplinary Pulmonary Embolism (PE) Response team, including where to start, developing efficient workflows, and obtaining the equipment you need for success. --- CHECK OUT OUR SPONSOR Inari Medical https://www.inarimedical.com/ --- SHOW NOTES In this episode, hosts Dr. Michael Barraza and Dr. Aaron Fritts interview Dr. Carin Gonsalves, interventional radiologist, about building a pulmonary embolism response team (PERT) and the evolution of pulmonary embolism (PE) treatment including large bore suction thrombectomy devices and the importance of multidisciplinary effort in care of patients with PEs. Dr. Gonsalves discusses how she came to be Division Director of the PERT program at Jefferson University, and her collaborations with Geno Merli, cofounder of the PERT Consortium. Her interest in advancing PE treatment stemmed from her years of performing pulmonary arteriography and catheter directed thrombolysis before the inception of suction thrombectomy devices. She discusses the difficulty she had in obtaining these new devices, and how after 11 months of discussions, the hospital agreed to purchase the necessary equipment to enable the PE response team. She discusses how the PERT is activated when a patient presents with suspected PE. Her team is comprised of five subspecialties including IR, Pulmonary Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Cardiology. She emphasizes how having a group of experts improves patient care by cutting down on critical decision time. She enjoys sharing the responsibility of evaluating treatment approaches based on the current literature and the diversity of experience in the group. Finally, we discuss advances in technology for treatment of PE. Dr. Gonsalves enjoys the ease of use and wide range of clots she can treat including acute, subacute and chronic. These devices have been game changers for PE; many patients are poor surgical candidates and have contraindications to thrombolysis. They end by discussing novel uses of these devices that Dr. Gonsalves performs including removal of clot in transit (mobile clot in the IVC, SVC, RA or RV) and vegetations on the tricuspid valve or a pacemaker lead. --- RESOURCES The PERT Consortium: https://pertconsortium.org Inari PEERLESS RCT: https://www.inarimedical.com/peerless/ Inari FlowTriever: https://www.inarimedical.com/flowtriever/ Inari ClotTriever: https://www.inarimedical.com/clottriever-int/ Inari FlowSaver: https://www.inarimedical.com/flowsaver/ AngioVac: https://www.angiovac.com

"I've told my students there are only four ways to compete in a new product; either the new product has to perform better than the old product, the new product has to have a lower cost than the old product, the new product has to be more sustainable than the old product, or the new product has to have a stronger marketing position than the old product." Dr. Ron Kander, Dean of the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce, and Associate Provost for Applied Research at Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA is our guest this week on the Hemp Entrepreneur Podcast. Dr. Kander is a material scientist who studied at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Delaware and also worked at DuPont as a materials engineer. Students at the Kanbar College at Jefferson University have been studying the potential and the supply chain economics of bringing applications to market that make use of the industrial hemp's most under-utilized and plentiful component, the hemp hurd. Hemp hurd, or shiv, is the inner woody core of the hemp stalk and comprises approximately 85% of the plant. As more products are developed that make use of the hurd, the cost of producing the other products will be offset by the revenue generated by the hurd and the market will begin to expand rapidly. Dr. Kander and his team are researching applications that require a lower volume of the hurd in order to fit the size and pace of the market as it currently stands. These low volume, high value applications are developed by the University, however through Dr. Kanders office, the opportunity to license and build upon their patented innovations is available to entrepreneurs. Jefferson has set out to be a source for education, unbiased information and partnership in the industrial hemp industry. Their programs are unique and the interest level from students and potential employers is high. Tune in to hear why Dr. Kander calls the industrial hemp industry the next gold rush and how we all need to think holistically about the industry from farm to product. Please don't forget to like, share and subscribe to the Hemp Entrepreneur Podcast! We are your weekly source for hemp industry enlightenment and we look forward to hearing from entrepreneurs who were inspired by what they have heard. Resources: Dr. Ronald G.
