Four potential new witnesses have come forward with information connecting Rex Heuermann to the Long Island Serial Killer murders One of the witnesses worked in a bank during the day and drove a taxicab at night. She signed an affidavit that she picked up Shannan Gilbert from a Sayville motel, but when she got the order from dispatch, was told the person she was picking up was so afraid she was hiding in a locked bathroom. The rider would only come out if the taxi driver flashes her lights and beeps the horn.   The cab driver says she showed up to the motel, flashed her lights, and beeped her horn but nobody came out of the motel. However, she did see "a giant man' fitting the description of Rex Heuermann come out of the motel.  When the girl finally comes out, she is crying. The driver believes this person was Shannan Gilbert Another witness claims Heuermann and his wife were swingers, and Karen Vergata took part in a party at Heuermann's home. A third potential witness contacted attorney John Ray and says she remembers being picked up by Rex Heuermann. She says he threatened her with a gun.  The fourth potential new witness claims she was a sex worker for many years, including the time the killings occurred. She said Heuermann was a serial user of sex workers, and he would sometimes have them come to his house, with his wife upstairs, Joining Nancy Grace Today: John Ray - Attorney for the family of Shannan Gilbert Dr. Joni Johnston – Forensic Psychologist and Private Investigator (performs risk and threat assessments on violent offenders); Author: “Serial Killers: 101 Questions True Crime Fans Ask” Robin Dreeke – Behavior Expert & Retired FBI Special Agent / Chief of the FBI Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program; Author: “Sizing People Up: A Veteran FBI Agents Manual for Behavior Prediction;” Twitter: @rdreeke  Dr. Kendall Crowns – Chief Medical Examiner Tarrant County (Ft Worth), Lecturer: University of Texas Austin and Texas Christian University Medical School Mary Murphy – Investigative Reporter, PIX11 News, New York City (WPIX TV); Recipient of 30 New York Emmy awards; Facebook: Mary Murphy Mystery, Instagram: @marymurphypix, Twitter: @MurphyPIX  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Leveraging your competence is a powerful way to build confidence and propel yourself toward success. It's the only way to create the tomorrow you desire and the future you want to achieve. If we have no desire to be better tomorrow, then there is no point in having tomorrow. A better tomorrow keeps us pursuing our dreams, developing ourselves, and embracing a growth mindset because no ultimate achievement guarantees perfection in every aspect of life. There will always be areas that need attention and improvement. Even if you excel in one domain, there is always room for growth elsewhere. Being the best at everything is an unrealistic and overwhelming expectation. Success and competence involve identifying what you are good at and focusing your efforts there. Competence is the foundation of confidence. It provides the passion for tackling challenges with determination, embracing a curious and open mindset, and exploring your ideas to uncover your true potential. True confidence comes from the relentless pursuit of mastery, staying receptive to change, and fostering a willingness to grow and evolve.  In this episode, Hilary Sheinbaum shares her journey, pivotal moments, and how building her competence enabled her to develop her confidence and pursue her dreams. Will it or won't it? That is the question on everyone's mind: the fate of TikTok in the United States. With questions looming around privacy concerns, battled and combated by the issues of free speech and accessibility, TikTok finds itself at the center of the debate. TikTok is a fan-favorite app among many young users and happens to be one of the hottest topics on the Hill. The main point of contention is whether TikTok's close relationship with China, through its parent company ByteDance, poses privacy concerns. The concern initially arose in 2020 during the Trump administration, and today we are joined by journalist Paige Leskin, who closely covered that period. Paige Leskin specializes in writing about online communication, the culture of internet users, and the businesses behind social platforms. Her work has been featured in publications such as Business Insider, USA Today, Inverse.com, and PIX11 News.During our discussion, we delve into various aspects of TikTok, exploring the potential for a ban and the implications it would have on not just TikTok itself and social media but also on the future of technology, the global economy of data sharing, data privacy, and ultimately, how we connect with one another and our communities. Trainspotter Keron Thomas was just 16 when he impersonated a subway motorman and took control of an A train in New York City on May 8th, 1993. His actions went unnoticed by his passengers, who were safely picked up and discharged at 85 stops along the route - until he slightly exceeded the speed limit, triggering the automatic brake. Thomas, originally from Trinidad, had been fascinated with trains since childhood and had studied the subway system extensively; even obtaining an official rule book and motorman's uniform. Despite being arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and criminal impersonation, his ‘joyride' was widely applauded and he became something of a folk hero. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain how Thomas very nearly got away with his japes; consider how his treatment by the NYPD might have differed in post-911 New York; and reveal the school nickname he adopted after his adventures… Further Reading: ‘MOTORMAN TAKES CITY FOR A RIDE' (The Washington Post, 1993): https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1993/05/12/motorman-takes-city-for-a-ride/b5a1f7b0-61e4-4aeb-bbe1-1305fea61f64/ ‘Can I See Your I.D.? Certainly not Tamsen Fadal, who tentatively dipped a toe into the social media platform for the first time only to be shocked by the eye-opening response. In no time her post – 34 Symptoms of Menopause – blew up and the award-winning New York news anchor had uncovered her next assignment! As we'll learn on this episode of the Busine$$ of the V, there is a movement afoot to make the world safe for discussions about menopause. It's here, it's real and its impacts on workplace productivity are real. Having herself collapsed on the job with a constellation of symptoms that took her off-guard, Tamsen received a crash course on all things hormonal while investigating the episode. She has since gone on to produce a new documentary exploring women's physical, emotional and professional passages and the science that shapes their journey. Also at work on a book about what it means to enter midlife, Tamsen is exploring the stories of women – herself and others – navigating a transition that can be both frightening and liberating, challenging and exhilarating. Enjoy this heartening conversation about the many ways in which menopause (and its workplace impacts) have emerged from the shadows, and not a moment too soon!   Want to hear about Tamsen's 34 symptoms of menopause – and more? Click here to visit her TikTok page.   Would you like to hear previous episode of the Busine$$ of the V? Click here!   TOPICS COVERED:   From Broadcasting News to Broadcasting Menopausal Symptoms: How Tamsen embarked on her current work building a community of women dealing with menopause in the workplace and beyond. A cluster of symptoms literally knocked Tamsen off her game at work, prompting her to launch an inquiry into the source. She sought help from doctors including a gynecologist, neurologist, endocrinologist … before tests finally yielded the verdict: Tamsen was in menopause. Women commonly experience frightening symptoms that very often don't call to mind menopause right off the bat. Leveraging TikTok: Tamsen blew up by simply offering straightforward information (i.e. 34 symptoms of menopause) and promoting conversation. Tamsen is providing a service by sharing information and research with women who otherwise might, like she was, be clueless when menopausal symptoms strike. The Disconnect is Real: Because symptoms can be vague and intermittent over a long period of time, it's easy for women to overlook menopause as a potential cause. As the result of a 2002 study (now acknowledged to have been flawed) a huge number of women abandoned hormone replacement therapy due to perceived risks. Menopause was momentarily in the news, but otherwise still far from the front pages over the ensuing decades. HOT FLASH: A 2022 U.S. survey revealed that 17% of women reported leaving or considering leaving their jobs as the result of menopausal symptoms. Tamsen highlights her research into a variety of previously untapped topics related to menopause and media imaging, the workplace, mental and emotional impacts. About the perspective and purpose of Tamsen's documentary, whose tone mixes realism with optimism based on interviews with a broad range of women and experts. Some 6,000 women a day enter menopause and are in search of solutions to a variety of attendant symptoms. Cracking a Mystery: Why is it that some women glide through menopause while a huge pool of others suffer a litany of miseries. Ways to stave of negative symptoms: Reduce alcohol, caffeine and stress. Workplace Challenges: While Tamsen has felt supported at her news studio, office environments generally have a long way to go in inviting women to be candid about symptoms and strategies for managing them on the job. Menopausal women represent a huge and valuable business asset, which is why forward-thinking corporations are looking to provide accommodations and benefits to support them. Tamsen provides an update on her book about women and midlife, menopause and what lies ahead based on personal anecdotes, research and solutions. Forthcoming Documentary: Tamsen anticipates her film will be released within the coming year with support from various sponsors in support of the message.     QUOTES:   “We could be doing this show 12 hours a day every day. There's so much to talk about and so many people making contributions.” (Rachel)   “Menopause in the workplace has been the ultimate taboo and it really does affect people's productivity and also it's an economic burden that needs to be discussed.” (Dr. Dweck)   “I started talking on TikTok and all of a sudden one of the videos went over a million and another went to almost two million and I went, ‘Uh oh. I think there's a conversation that needs to be happening here.' ” (Tamsen)   “The first time you start to have symptoms you really have no idea what's going on and you really get scared. Am I having a heart attack? Am I having a stroke? What's going on here?” (Dr. Dweck)   “Menopause doesn't happen from one night to the next. It's a transition that can take eight, nine, 10 years. Symptoms kind of wax and wane.” (Dr. Dweck)   “It's time to reframe menopause not as a negative but as a known entity. Lots of good things come out of the menopause state and I prefer to focus on those ... For a lot of women it's a liberating time.” (Dr. Dweck)   “Most of the things that happen in women's lives that are physiological or emotional are everything else, too. They're social, they're behavioral, they're contextual.” (Rachel)   “A lot of women have felt very shameful about their symptoms and uncomfortable to talk about it … I feel very lucky to be able to do that.” (Tamsen)   “When money is involved, things change.” (Rachel)     GUEST BIO: Tamsen Fadal is the primetime anchor of the PIX11 News at 4p, 5p, 6pm and 10pm. In 2002, Tamsen traveled to Afghanistan and was embedded with the American troops during the war. We do a deep dive into the valuable tips she shares in her most recent book: “The New Single: Finding, Fixing and Falling Back In Love With Yourself After a Break-up or Divorce.” It is a motivational roadmap to rediscovering your power and living your best life. The show notes are at https://thegoodlifecoach.com/044   WE DISCUSS: She wrote this book as a roadmap for herself It took her a year to feel balanced again and she realized the first 90 days were key. She began removing obstacles.  She had to figure out who she was.  She was a wife and now was a single woman.  She surveyed the surroundings in order to survive. The book is about figuring out who you are again. Planning your time and being organized is essential. Be the architect of your life. Tamsen decluttered her apartment.  She didn't leave her home – so she re-did the bedroom, kitchen, and closets.  Repainted furniture.  She got rid of anything that didn't serve her or reminded her of him. She made the space feel like her instead. She ended up in $100,000 worth of debt and we discuss how she got out. How to stop looking for “the one more thing”.  Looking for closure.  One more sentence.  One more question. The importance of talking with friends and finding support through a therapist and other resources. And so much more… TAMSEN'S 3 BEST TIPS FOR LIVING A GOOD LIFE: Make peace with the past – stop misremembering it and start romancing the future.  Decide what you want and go after that.  Write it down to set a roadmap. Use vision boards. Live your someday, today.
